I am filing this complaint to warn other consumers about my experience with Barefoot Mosquito & Pest Control. I have used Barefoot for annual termite inspections without issue. During one visit, mosquito control was offered, and a separate appointment was scheduled. The technician completed the treatment and then handed me a small iPad to acknowledge the service had been performed. At no time did he explain that I was entering into a 12-month contract, agreeing to recurring monthly charges, or accepting an 80% early termination fee. I believed I was simply acknowledging receipt of the service. Before the treatment, I explained that my property is surrounded by mature trees and dense landscaping. The technician assured me, "If any mosquito enters your yard, it will die." Unfortunately, there has been no noticeable reduction in mosquitoes. We still have to burn mosquito coils just to enjoy our backyard. When I called to cancel after the first treatment because it did not work as promised, I was told my account would be placed "on hold," but I would still be required to pay $107.17 per month for the remainder of the agreement or pay an early termination fee equal to 80% of the remaining balance. This was the first time I learned I had supposedly agreed to a one-year contract. Only then was the agreement emailed to me. I gave Barefoot the opportunity to resolve this fairly before filing this complaint. Instead, they chose to enforce a contract that was never verbally disclosed. I am requesting that Barefoot cancel this agreement without penalty and stop all future charges. My goal is to encourage other consumers to ask questions before signing or initialing anything on an electronic device. read more

Avoid Barefoot Mosquito unless you don't mind money coming out of your pocket every month after you've canceled service. My last service date was 10/25/25, but Barefoot Mosquito has continued to charge me monthly. I reached out in May and received confirmation from them that they received my communication, but I never heard back from them. I don't know what's going on with their billing system, but it's messed up as is their customer service (or lack thereof). Terrible. read more

We've used another well-known, established pest control service in the past and were disappointed with their service, which led us to giving Vinx a shot. So far so good! Professional, polite service people who we have been able to rely on. And their fees are reasonable as far as we're concerned. If they missed anything when they serviced our property, one call & they were back within the week to take care of any problems. Everyone said that we would need a pest control company when we moved to GA and now Texas, where we've lived for the last 10+ years. Boy were they right. TLDR: Most thorough inspection with and transparent with the situation and services! I reached out to a number of services to look at the mud cap in my house caused by termites. Eli did not only look at the issue, but looked for the cause of the issue and other areas that may have been affected. Out of Virginia Beach office. Getting charged frequently for services not performed. Today had an appointment at 8 am. Tech never arrived with no voicemail left to explain what happened. I called the office, no response yet to my voicemail. A few days ago the tech Austin was surprised about what services he was scheduled to perform and didn't have great customer service. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST! Literal scammers. Truly wish I could give them 0 stars. The first red flag was when I originally asked for an exact quote of their services. They sent over an estimate and when the service was completed they upped the price for "fees and taxes". If I ask for an exact price I am asking what I'd be paying when completed. And if they want to charge more afterwards at least put it in the email that it will be more later on. I had a series of treatments with them and scheduling has always been a pain in the ass. They are extremely inflexible and only schedule exactly 2 weeks apart from treatment to treatment. They only have an "outside radius service person" every once in a while so we pretty much just had to deal with whichever date they gave us which is very difficult to work around. Not once but TWICE they showed up either at the totally wrong time or didn't show up at all when scheduled. When we were scheduled between 12-2 the woman showed up promptly at 8am and got hostile & defensive when I told her we weren't scheduled until later and we weren't ready to leave for a few hours yet. Another time I cleaned out the whole kitchen, scheduled our dog for the groomer to get him out of the house, booked a movie for us to be out of the house, made arrangements etc for the scheduled date of them coming and they never came. When I called they told me I wasn't scheduled that day..I told them to check the phone call because they were definitely wrong and I had already made a lot of arrangements. They did send someone out once they realized they messed up but not until hours after we were scheduled for. They also don't send out any confirmation emails, texts or phone calls of a scheduled appointment which is extremely unprofessional. Lastly, I called them during our "warranty period" to see if we could get one more service under warranty as we still had a bug problem. Trey- who I spoke with got it approved by his manager and we went ahead and scheduled the appointment. After the appointment they decided to charge me. I called about the wrongful charge and specifically spoke with Trey again who told me "yes I do remember talking with you and saying that" and then came back and told me THEY NEVER SAID IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY'RE DECIDING TO CHARGE ME" When I specifically have him and that phone call recorded saying that will be my last free service under warranty. Unbelievable. He also ensured me he would give me a call back after speaking to his managers about the incident TWICE and never did. Obviously hiding from me because he knows he did me dirty. If you say you're going to do something THEN DO IT. If you say you're going to show up THEN SHOW UP. Is it really too much to ask a company to show up when they're scheduled, charge what they say they're going to charge and do the damn job?! Needless to say- we followed all the recommendations, took trash out every single night, kept things clean and after many months with this company we STILL HAVE A BUG PROBLEM. I highly recommend not using Vinx pest control. They accidentally hit a small hose on my sprinkler line. It didn't take much for repair, but I let them know so that it could be looked into and covered. Instead, I was treated like my business was not wanted. This has dragged on for months, with disrespectful text correspondence not one time asking if they could look. Or having a clear idea of the issue. I paid for preventative termite service and got bit in the ass. I've asked them since May to reinstall a bait that had been pulled out during plumbing repairs on the opposite side. Still not done. Asked to speak to the owner who come to find out is the brother of the very rude texter. Look, I'll cut my loses, but these companies think customer service and solutions should be put on the back burner. Not one solution or care was given. Use them If you want to but don't expect them to treat you with any respect if a problem arises. Side note: it wasn't a main sprinkler hose and it was a very small repair. Plus I was standing there when my sprinkler guys located it. They only had to remove the bait to repair the hose and asked for me permission prior to. But Vinx doesn't care. God forbid they take ownership for their perfect business. I've canceled my service effective immediately! And I used to have a 5 star review on Google. But clearly 5 star service is for when you're signing up. read more

Eli is the reason I'm sticking with you for our rental and now, our house and leaving Terminex. Excellent job on everything. He should be in management because I generally dread having to deal with techs but he's so knowledgeable and easy to work with, it's a pleasure. All around, they got rid of a couple possums that got in our rental crawlspace and I truly wish I had spoken to them first instead. I would've saved a ton of money and aggravation. Zack is also very knowledgeable and nice to work with but Eli is now the face of Vinx for me and I only want to deal with him to get any work completed now. read more

I try not to leave negative reviews. Usually I don't say anything. However, I just paid the early cancellation fee to get out of the 12 month contract because I'd rather do that then give them any more money. I'm also disputing the early cancellation fee. I wish they would've called to talk to me about what my issues were. Instead, they said they didn't have time to do that, but they had time to send me four and five paragraph emails refuting what I felt about how they conducted their business. Rather give my money to somebody local. Cares about customer service, cares about talking to their customers and doesn't need to hide behind a 12 month contract to keep you and your business. read more

We have used Vinx for a few years. When they intally started the seemed to do "ok". As time went by we noticed an increase of spiders and other insects inside and outside our home. When i called to discuss the issue they said they could spray higher on the brick and make sure their technicians cleaned the spider webs off the eaves, and they did that for a short time. When i called today to cancel my service after spending my holiday cleaning my eaves, they ask how they could keep me as a client. I'm really easy to please just do the service I pay for and I know they are capable of doing that. I was told by Thomas all I had to do was contact them and they would come back out and do it over. If this only happened occasionally maybe that would be an option but it is ongoing and I refuse to babysit the situation. The company I am paying faithfully every month can easily see that they are not removing the cobwebs off properly nor treating it in a way where they don't come back. When I suggested they could credit me for the work that I put into it and continue the service and just do it right he said that wasn't an option for them. read more

I was approached by a door-to-door salesman and was informed that the service was just $45 a treatment and no contract. After 11 months of being charged $45 a month I had enough so I cancelled but they charged me another $45. When I complained they threatened to turn me into collections and implied I was lying. You'll get a perky, friendly recorded message stating, "it may take up to 60 seconds... you will be connected with a live person shortly" then after ~60 seconds, you'll get a "...please leave your name and number...." message and a beep. I recently used yelp to locate pest control services. I requested quotes and Vinx Pest Control responded by text and we scheduled. Now, we did have to reschedule a couple of times but it wasn't an issue for me. They reached out both times by text and phone call. They were very nice. The tech arrive on time, he reviewed payment and services info. with me. He knocked down wasp nests, which were around my house everywhere. And he sprayed inside and outside my house. Total scam. Predatory billing practices. Unethical. Promised the world during the sales pitch. After initial treatment, they failed to show up for monthly treatments. Hard to reach on phone, wont call you back and when you do want to schedule a treatment no preferred times are ever available. They have so many loopholes in the contract to tie you down. We used Vinx for mosquito treatment. Initially they were great but eventually were inconsistent on their treatments. They would charge me for providing the service but wouldn't leave something at my home to confirm the work was completed. Additionally, they would treat every 30-45 days and said as long as they visit within a given month they were meeting their obligation. This is not was they sold when we initially started the service. According to Vinx, they would treat ever 30 days minimum in order to get the best mosquito control possible. Sometime between then and now they seem to be ok with servicing month to month even if the span is great than 30 days. Anyway, we are moving on and are excited ti have consistent mosquito service. read more
