Baris was a decent Italian restaurant. We ate there on July 27, 2021. The noodles were homemade. The house salad was sparse, but veggies were good quality. I didn't care for the house dressing, which tasted like French dressing mixed with salsa. It was spicy and was weird. The rolls they gave you before your meal were amazing. They were soft, delicious, and home made. The baked ziti tasted amazing. I ordered Shrimp and lemon Buttered noodles with white wine and capers. It was good, but runny. The noodles were homemade. SERVICE: Good not great on our visit here for first time. She was very polite and well versed on menu. Before meal came back 3 x's till we were ready and offered suggestions. Cashier-Older woman with a touch of bitterness. She had us standing around waiting to pay bill at register. (Honestly, I think she was just tired or having a bad moment) Overall: I liked the place and it is definitely a good place for casual Italian dining. Can't beat the prices and portions. Baris is an absolutely charming family-owned restaurant in an excellent location in Waco. The parking is very limited, so it is important to come at an early hour or park nearby. Cool thing was the BYOB! We were able to bring a bottle of our favorite wine and enjoy it with the meal. They were even kind enough to bring us glasses and uncork the bottle for us. The wait staff is marvelous and very attentive. The restaurant, though a tight squeeze, is very clean. It helps when you're new to the restaurant so that you can peek over and see what amazing dishes they have to offer. Their menu selection is vast and very, very reasonably priced. It honestly makes you want to come back every day and just take a tour of Italy. Rolls came out fresh and piping hot - definitely try the dinner rolls with pink sauce. Oh my goodness... so good! I had the Dee's Special and it was amazing. I didn't think I could finish the entire thing, but I made it a mission... and succeeded. Baris is one of the best Italian spots around! I would go there a lot more if there was a place to park... the lot is precarious and the restaurant next door (with an empty and massive parking lot) yells at you if you park in the back of their lot. I always end up having to walk several blocks on a busy road if I want to eat inside. Carry out is an option, but sometimes you just want that dine-in experience. This is a little gem in Waco! We were in town for the Silo District Marathon, and we wanted pasta for our pre-race dinner. Yelp steered us to Baris, and it was a great find. The place gets busy on regular weekends, but it was packed the night before the race. We waited 30-45 minutes to be called inside. Despite the full house, our service was really good. The homemade rolls are giant and delicious! We all enjoyed our food: chicken parmigiana, spinach rolletini, pasta sampler (lasagna, cannelloni, & manicotti), and spaghetti with marinara. The prices are extremely reasonable. It's nice to know it's BYOB. Should we find ourselves back in Waco we'll bring a bottle of wine or some beer to enjoy with dinner. This was my husband and I's first time in Waco. Our first stop was lunch here at Bari's, and it was great!!! My husband ordered the Pasta Sampler and I ordered the Baked Cheese Tortellini (Sunday lunch special). The food was sooo good, and my husband loved the rolls. The service was pretty good. Amazing food! The pink sauce is really good and so is the diavolo. Just the right amount of spice. Had it with the meatballs, which were perfect. We're new to this area and decided to follow the recommendation of a friend to eat here. We're so glad we listened. It was a special dinner being that it was in celebration of my little girls birthday and all she requested Italian food for dinner. This place is small but packs a big punch. The food was amazing, and our server was the best we've ever had!! He made sure to make the dinner special for her, he and the rest of the staff made her a little birthday card and gave her a choice of birthday cheesecake! You don't find too many places that go the extra mile anymore. I had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm. It wasn't too busy, but I can definitely see how parking could be an issue if it was. Very casual environment with pleasant staff. The appetizers aren't as pricey as most Italian restaurants. They are, however, served on paper plates. We had the fried mushrooms, which came out out the fried and clearly were given no time to rest. I bit into one, got grease all down my shirt, and burned my mouth. The waitress gave us no warning about the temperature. They did taste good, once they cooled down. Main courses were better and everyone in my group seemed happy with them. I was glad that they offered a spaghetti with just herbs and olive oil since I am dairy sensitive. The price for the amount and quality of the food is surprisingly low. Been coming to Baris for many years. Called in my order and friendly staff brought it right to my car. The food to-go is just great! I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo, a meatball sub and extra rolls. Plus I like to put the red house dressing on my meatball sub sandwich, so I got that on the side. I have to say that when I took a bite of that sandwich, and tasted that Baris sauce and Mary's meatballs, I felt better. It was like everything is going to be OK. Comfort food at its Italian best!!! My colleagues and I came here for dinner tonight. The wait staff were professional and courteous. I ordered a side garden salad and spinach Florentine pizza. To our surprise they brought us a basket of yeast rolls and they were DELICIOUS! My salad was average and the pizza was delicious.
