The patio seating was really cool, and the service was top-notch and attentive even as the bar got progressively busier. Loved the ambiance of this place. I asked for a burger well done but not burnt. I don't care for any pink, just gray throughout, but it the outside was black, the inside dried out and too tough to eat. I opted for Mac and Cheese instead of fries and it was excellent. read more

Honestly always great when I come here - the service and food! The server was amazing and very attentive. Suggested the short run hash for brunch. Was very delicious! Came in on a Tuesday night, despite the snow storm, and was pleasantly surprised. They just changed the menu and I ordered the new Short Rib Stroganoff while my husband ordered the chicken parm. Lousy service and loud environment Tried Barley Mac for the first time today. Ordered hot tea and they brought coffee. Ordered a Benedict and requested the hollandaise on the side - the entree arrived drowning in hollandaise sauce. The mimosas we ordered when we were seated didn't arrive until 5 minutes after the food. Bonus: There's no sound-reducing materials in the restaurant. It was so loud we could not hear what the other people at our four-top table were saying. Once and done! Never going back. read more

The food, cocktails, vibe, and service are all nice. The only problem is that it's too loud. Concrete floors and a lack of sound absorbing accoustic tiles makes for quite a din. If they could resolve that, it would be a huge improvement. read more

We got the truffle Mac and cheese and the coccoli as appetizers. The coccoli is delicious (wish we had more drizzle though) and the truffle Mac and cheese wasn't anything special to me. I ended up eating the salmon with rice, but I was expecting it to come with asparagus (per what the menu said it would come with) and it came with broccolini instead so that was disappointing. I wish the waitress had let me know when I ordered. But the actually salmon was delicious and the skin was crunchy so I really liked that. My friend got the salmon burger and he seemed to be happy with it. I would recommend this restaurant since it seems to have a good variety of food for everyone. read more

We did a big party outside at Barley Mac (with a reservation), and the manager Miloshe (sp.?) and his team were soooo incredibly gracious and wonderful! We had such a great time, thanks to them!! We cannot thank them enough actually. They have great drink and food specials for happy hour, and it is all delicious! Hector and Chloe served us and they could not be nicer or more professional; they really kept up with our big party! My experience here was just okay. The inside is very pretty and spacious. The drinks, especially mimosas, are very affordable. I got the breakfast gnocchi and it was okay. The pesto was tasty but my eggs weren't runny and the gnocchi's texture just wasn't quite right. The pasta would fall apart and it didn't have the pillow-like texture you would expect. Our server seemed very distracted. He made a mistake then forgot to bring my friend's correct dish the entire meal even though we mentioned it to multiple people. Wonderful spot for happy hour!!! We sat outside on the patio the entire right side (if you're facing the street) allows happy hour specials! The service was awesome despite us being the only ones outside; we had a super sexy and attentive server (Milos?). We had the Whiskey Smash to drink (potent and so fucking refreshing), fried calamari, grilled wings, and beef meatballs. It was all to die for, especially the calamari which was crisp and served with two delectable sauces as it should be! Super chill vibe and music out on the patio. We'll gladly return here! read more

You wouldn't expect such fantastic taste and interesting flavors for someplace in Rosslyn. The food was superb- and a decent price for how well-crafted each entree was. The wagyu meatballs were delicate and full of taste. I could rant on and on and on about the pork chops and Brussel sprouts. Seriously, I know it sounds straightforward but it was so amazing. Last night was my first time going to this restaurant. I saw the reviews on Yelp before going and my expectations were high. I was not disappointed!!! My friend and I went and we had the absolute best server, Milos. He was super helpful in giving food and drink suggestions. Throughout the meal he was attentive and patient with us. We started off dinner with the Coccoli appetizer and it was amazing!! For the main dish I got a pizza and my friend got a salad. The portion sizes were perfect and our food was delicious! The atmosphere of the restaurant is very lively! We were also impressed that even though the restaurant was packed throughout the night we didn't have to wait long for our food. I've been to Barley Mac multiple times especially for their amazing happy hour that goes from 3-7 and great service! Milos and Hector ALWAYS takes great care of us! We have brought in large parties, family dinners, corporate dinners and the service is consistently great. I brought in a few friends for happy hour last night bragging about how amazing the food is and how handsome the servers are. Unfortunately neither were there, but we decided to sit at a table in the bar area. First, the service wasn't that great, multiple times we had to go to the bar and asks for things. When looking for our servers, both were on their phones or were just chatting with each other. The worst part is that it wasn't busy! I'll be honest, I was a little embarrassed that I talk you all with such rave reviews and to come to a disappointment with my friends. If it wasn't for the food, this review would have gotten a 1 star. I hope that this isn't what Barley Mac is about, because I have never had a problem before, I feel management should know about the lack of service I received last night and I hope they do something about it. I plan to be back, but only if my two servers are there, JK, haha, the food is too good not to come back. read more

I had heard about Barley Mac from friends, and, since I was in the Rosslyn area of Arlington for a couple of weeks, I made it a point to get there. My friend and I were meeting a couple of business associates for dinner, so, while we waited, we sat at the bar and enjoyed some of the happy hour drinks and appetizers. The potato skins were amazing, best I've had! A completely different presentation than the traditional skins. Our server, Bria, found us at the bar and led us over to our table. Bria is charming, efficient, and knowledgable - having her as our server made the whole experience truly upscale and five-star! If she were to leave (!), I would gladly follow her to her new restaurant, she's that good! Our guests arrived, and we ordered appetizers. The french onion soup was among the best I have ever had! Although there were some delays getting our entrees out to us (the manager came out and apologized), it was worth the wait! Bria did a great job selling us on the 'specials', and my shrimp were excellently prepared! All in all, a very pleasant experience! Burger was great. Well cooked, great flavor and exactly what you think a burger should be. 5 stars for that. I also ordered a beer. Beer was stale and just didn't taste right. Service was great and the waitresses hustled and was on top of everything. I'm not a huge fan of dry mac and cheese and this one was creamy and delicious! The french only soup was also good, but maybe needed a little more bread under the load of gooey cheese. My bf had steak and eggs and they were also cooked perfectly. The steak was so flavorful and truly medium rare (not overcooked). The eggs were runny just like we wanted. On a cold and windy Tuesday night, my wife and I decided to skip President Trump's first State of the Union address and have a full dinner at Barley Mac instead. (We had previously only tried the desserts). Great choice! I ordered the Pan Roasted Trout. The trout itself was pretty good, but I was really impressed by side of barley salad, which stole the show and brought a lot of flavor into the dish. My wife had the squid ink linguini. She loved it. The pasta was delicious, the shrimp was very tender, and she liked that the sauce was just lightly spicy. For dessert, I recommend sticking with what Barley Mac does best (Italian food) and having the gelato. We ordered the brown butter gelato and were not disappointed. The entire evening, we got great service from Milos, who was attentive and explained all of the specials and substitutions. If Donald Trump or Joe Kennedy gave me a shout out in their speech that night, our dinner at Barley Mac would still have been the highlight of my evening. read more

Went this past Sunday for water brunch with our friends. We order the mac and cheese for appetizer and they were amazing, as well the chicken wings. At was a little pricey but the flavor was good, so I didn't mind it. Our server was very attentive, i know we were 10 people in a table and she might get confuse sometimes with the drinks orders but beside that it was a good service. The mimosas were great specially the passion fruit mimosa, I usually drink 2 or 3 but this were so good that I could not remember how many we had ;) ;). I order the chicken sandwich and was really good. They had a special sauce the piquillo pepper aioli and was really flavorful. My friend had the lobster club house and was good, cold, but good. Did I say I order chicken wings?? That bourbon maple drizzle in top of the wings was sooooooo good, I could just eat wings there all day. My friends order a man-mosa and it was good but the mix of vodka and wine wasn't my favorite. BRUNCHHHHH! Definitely a top brunch spot in the area. I was blown away at how good the food was! I ordered the Lobster Club House and the Barley Mac & Cheese. I really tried to keep it simple if you couldn't tell. Although it was like eating a sloppy joe (because of all the juices), the sandwich was mouth watering.
