I came across Barley Republic Public House when walking with my friends and we grabbed some snacks and drinks before an upcoming reservation. We went not too long after opening and sat on the patio and enjoyed our experience. The service was great and the food was fantastic too. This was my first real poutine experience (I've previously tried them for the first time at Disney and they weren't great) but these were amazing. I finished the whole thing. The tater tots also had the most perfect crunch! I'm a fried pickle girl through and through and theirs were good but def not the best I've had. I still enjoyed them though. This is a great place for food and drinks. It has a great selection of brews and whiskies. We had the 10 piece bone in wings and they were very good. The ranch dressing is very thick and it tasted great. I was surprised at how busy the place was at 11:30pm but as it is one of the few places in St. Augustine with food that late it made sense. The server was very nice. She was busy but getting what we ordered did not take overly long. It is not a fancy place and it is what you would expect from an Irish public house..the music was classic rock and a little loud but tolerable. This place is amazing! We stumbled upon it based off a recommendation from our walking tour guide. We we're blown away by their food. We started with an Irish coffee, it was perfect for a cold day. We ordered their fish n chips and lamb burger for our entrees. The fish n chips was perfectly cooked and not greasy at all. The lamb burger was AMAZING, probably the best burger we've ever eaten. It was perfection, and their fries were cooked perfectly too. We highly highly recommend you go here. It was off the path away from the tourists and we were seated right away for dinner at 6 pm. We were making our way down Spanish Street when we retreated into the Barley Republic for a drink. Being that this building shared the same historic aesthetic with most of the buildings in the Colonial Quarter, there's a tremendous amount of character and coziness when you walk through the bar entrance and pull a seat up to the counter. We ordered whiskey drinks from the bar, focusing on Old Fashioneds while my fiance enjoyed Jameson and Ginger Ale. The vibes were chill and laid back as we enjoyed the drinks. The bartender was amiable and attentive as we relaxed and chatted with a couple of other people at the bar were enjoying some evening drinks. I would return to try some of their food the next time I am in St. Augustine. Very cool spot to hang out in the Colonial Quarter. read more

What in the best burger in Florida ! ? I am a long time cheeseburger connoisseur. I have gone far and wide from California all down route 66 cruise ships, fancy burger joints, and I stepped in here on a whim because it was the only thing open. I was thinking the food was gonna be greasy and lazy and sloppy because it's a bar , I have never been more wrong! This food was immaculate. It was served fresh and clean. It wasn't too greasy. It was the most perfect cheeseburger I have ever had. I'm in love ! I'm in love and I don't care who knows it! It was a late night crowd. It was a bit noisy, but I didn't mind it. My husband and I had a wonderful end to our evening of nights of lights and we walked back to our parking spot and the whole town was sleeping. It was just fabulous. Came here for a beer and a quick bite before our drive back home. It was a Saturday night around 5pm and we were seated immediately at the outdoor patio so we can people watch until dark. It's a first come first serve basis, they do not take reservations so we got pretty lucky! We ordered the truffle artichoke dip and two Long Islands. The service was very friendly and quick, so it made our time worth while. The prices are pretty up there, but I think we just paid for the ambiance. The live music, dogs walking, the drunkies just walking on the street -- it was great! It's definitely a different feel than hanging out in Tampa or Orlando. Only giving it a four stars because the place wasn't the cleanest. They wiped our table down with just a wet towel which left the table not smelling the greatest. What a great last minute find to add to our trip! We decided to look up places in the area with high Yelp reviews that weren't too far, and this place popped right up. It's an Irish Pub just off of the main St. George strip. We had the stroller with us and they let us put it up front a bit out of the way so that we could keep it in sight. We were seated on a booth by the wall and given menus. They have a small, intimate feeling and the bar is definitely where most of the action was at. We were there for happy hour and they do $5 smash burgers, but we opted for Irish food instead - shephards pie and bangers with mash. The bangers were both of our favorites. The shephards pie was tasty but had a different flavor than we are use to, so we'd probably try something else next go! The drinks were solid and our server was excellent. This place was so good & the service was amazing! We were seated on the patio and our server did an amazing job with every table she had! She was extremely nice and helpful with suggestions on what to get. I wish I could remember her name because she was so great! We got fried pickles, Reuben, chicken tender sliders, and the soup of the day which was a chicken chili. It was all very good! The Reuben was probably the best Reuben I have ever had! My mom, husband, and daughters (both under 5) stopped in for dinner. The place is not huge and because we had a wagon for the kids we had to sit outside on the patio which was nice. The restaurant is in a shaded area and they had fans so it was nice. We each ordered a meal minus my youngest and got a couple of drinks. The food was delicious, but unfortunately didn't all come as we asked. It wasn't busy so we it was a surprise when our orders weren't completely correct. I also forgot to order my oldest her meal (complete mom fail). We ordered her food as soon as our came (cheeseburger and fries). 25 minutes later her food came. We thought that was a little excessive for what it was and the fact the place wasn't busy. We waited for her to finish and got the bill. The total was $145!! We were a little shocked at the price! We did not expect it to be that high. You pay at the table, which is fine, but when my mom and husband split the check we weren't given the opportunity to look at the bill. This is a great place. We have been here several times and they never disappointed us. We even brought our doggie (they are dog friendly outside) and she enjoyed herself. The food and drinks are always consistent. They have a huge St. Patrick's Day festival in their parking lot (entrance is $10 per person), which includes a live band and bars you pay for booze. We have gone to the restaurant part but not the festival. Also, they have a limited menu with maybe 5 items on it for that day. We have also come here several times besides St. Patrick's Day. If you want a good Guinness, you have to go to an Irish pub or restaurant. I have not been to many places where they know how to pour a Guinness and this place does. I am also that weirdo that likes Irish pub food. Their food is on point for sure! We have only sat outside and never inside. The restaurant is kind of small inside and out but the turnover time is pretty good. We take our dog with us when it is not a crazy night out like St. Patrick's Day and she has sat on the bench with us outside. The service is always good and I cannot remember ever having an issue. I have tried other drinks, such as a Riesling and a whiskey cocktail (the one with St. Germain and cucumber). The cocktail was fantastic but the Riesling they had when I ordered was too sweet for me. We have had several food items off the menu, such as Shepard's pie, chicken tenders, bangers and mash, cheeseburger, and the chicken sandwich. Again, everything was tasty and did not taste frozen. My family and I dined here on our recent visit to St. Augustine. It was the Sunday after Christmas and we had just arrived to the city. I had never been to St. Augustine for the Christmas lights, and did not understand how busy and chaotic the city would be. Rest assured I now know that you should not travel to St. Augustine around Christmas without dining reservations. We stumbled upon this place after the first couple places we tried had 2 hours waits or were closed on Sundays. The host, a young man, said it would be a 20 minute wait for 2 adults and a high chair. He wasn't wearing a mask which gave me pause, especially since he was so close to all the outdoor tables, but he was outside and I would quickly find that mask wearing was an issue throughout St. Augustine, and we were hungry with no place to go. It took closer to 30 minutes, but okay, no bad. What was frustrating was he first sat us at a high top outside. There had been high tops available the whole time. He brought the high chair and put it up at the table and I just stared at him, like are you serious?! I thought the reason he hadn't sat us there for the past 30 minutes was because we had a baby. My husband quickly pointed out that this was not going to work as the baby was 2 feet below the table. We waited about 5 more minutes and someone else came and got us for a regular booth inside. Our server seemed overwhelmed. As a parent I was bothered that she didn't ask if we needed anything for the little one. She didn't ask if he needed a drink, food, or anything. We ordered a couple cocktails. We weren't blown away by any of them. They kind of seemed watered down. My husband had a giant beer that he enjoyed. I ordered the lamb burger with fries. The lamb burger was good and well cooked. The fries were hot and crispy. I can't complain. My husband ordered the lobster mac and cheese. He said it was very bland and he was really unimpressed. We ordered an extra side of fries which turned out to be a good idea as the little one was starving so he ate a bit of everything, lamb, macaroni, and fries. This was our first visit but has been on my list for a while. My husband and I decided to head to Barley Republic for dinner Friday night. We sat ourselves downstairs in a booth. I still want to see what is upstairs but for this visit we stayed down. Atmosphere was cozy but very dark to my oldish eyes so we had to use the light on our phone to read the menu. The menu is not huge, small actually which can be good and bad. I was very happy with the options here though. Our server let us know that it was happy hour still so we ordered a couple of pints of Gaelic Ale...absolutely delicious if they have it when you go I recommend it. We also ordered a dozen oysters ($1/oyster during happy hour). The oysters were very good as well. Unfortunately for us they served us the last two of the Gaelic ale so we had to switch to something else. My husband ordered the lamb burger and it was delicious and huge. It comes with fries which I thought were great! I ordered the shepherd's pie. I was not a fan. It was too sweet for me and the flavor just wasn't there, potatoes on top were not seasoned at all and the sauce underneath...wasn't my taste. I don't know but it must have been what they braised the lamb in...I wouldn't get it again. I absolutely left hungry after only eating a couple of bites. I would absolutely visit again b/c I love the atmosphere, great outdoor area with tables there too, oysters were good, beer was good and I'm looking forward to trying something else next time. With blood sugar dropping, finally someone pointed us to Barley Republic but said we will likely have a 2-hour wait. We walked over and it was indeed a packed house. We got on the waiting list and our table was ready 20 mins later! Unsure of the quality of food on this late night menu, we asked our server to be honest about it. He assured us the lamb burger and reg burger were both excellent. Which is exactly what we ordered at his advising. The food was amazing. Great beer selection. Even found a beer from Boulder that used to be my favorite! Burgers were both cooked perfectly and the food was quality. We lucked out finding it. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine which had a slight funk. We told our server and he had a new bottle opened and took care of it with a smile. It's the little things that go a long way! I've visited Barley Republic on two occasions. The first being just for drinks. Service was not spectacular. We felt like we were bothering the upstairs bartender however it didn't damper our spirits. We really enjoyed the upstairs porch for sight seeing and people watching. On our second visit it was literally pouring rain. Pouring! We sat out front on the patio. We were covered so it was great. Our server was very sweet but must have been overwhelmed. It took forever to get our drinks, the table next to us was dirty the entire time. Just overall not a good flow. With that being said we did enjoy our lunch and drinks. Situated in an old house is Barley Republic, an Irish gastropub cranking out classic Irish staples and craft beer. Seems right up my alley! Five of us sat outside and watched the street life. When our server was at the table, she was great. The problem was she frequently became absent whenever we needed her expertise or more appropriately, a refill. The menu sounded great, and although I'm sure their Bangers & Mash or Fish n' Chips are popular for a reason, I wasn't feeling those. The server talked me into the Reuben. Boy, the presentation was flawless. The giant chunks of meat had me all flustered. Yes, this sandwich was built to perfection. And for the most part, the flavors lived up to its looks. The pastrami just needed some more seasoning to kick it up a notch. The accompanying chips were stuck together, and although not seasoned with a heavy hand, I quite enjoyed them.
