Where do I start? This place has wonderful customer service, our waiter was Robert. He was delightful, he was attentive, polite and efficient. The service was great and the meal was one to definitely come back for. To start off, we ordered some chips and salsa, the salsa was warm and very tasty. I ordered their Falafel burger which tasted amazing, crispy and delicious I paired it w a strawberry lemonade and some sweet potato fries that I must highlight as perfectly seasoned and flavorful! Best ones I've tried. The place is very clean and organized all their staff is very helpful and knowledgeable i loved coming to this location we felt welcomed and comfortable. They have open parking in front of the location as well as behind. I was also surprised to see that their hand sanitizing dispenser checks ones temperature! The usual all american tummy fillers. Burgers, ribs, meatloaf, salads all in generous portions enough to share between at least two people if you are not a super big eater. The meatloaf, pork chop (comes with three pieces and a heaping portion of fries) especially are definitely humongous. Nice neighborly ambience and good to visit with friends. Servers are all very nice and friendly all the time except for one old lady who who serves the tables close to the restrooms and the kitchen. Ive eaten here lots of times and this lady gets irritable if you happen to choose a table you like if she hadnt completely cleaned the table of scraps from the prior diners. Like wiping the table while you are seated will prevent her from wiping the table. Come here but just dont sit in the back where this server can be a mood killer especially after a hard day at your own workplace. read more

I thought Barnaby's was all hype and sort of gave a meh look when i found out there were multiple across Houston... but... oh man... I got the guac burger for about $14 without tip and oh god was it MASSIVE. A gigantic dollop of guac was plastered on top of my burger and filled my heart with pure joy. What was even better was the fact that I could change the doneness of my burger below medium, which is extremely rare at places that serve burgers. I got mine medium rare and wish I took a picture to show how well they cooked it but alas, I devoured it the instant I realized the chef did an A+ job. Magnificent sear and on-point doneness. I can only guess that they can go this done because their meat is high quality, and thus don't have to overcook their burgers to medium for safety reasons. Fries were tasty and plentiful as well. Pricepoint to quality ratio was excellent. Our waiter... I really wish I remembered her name, was very kind and helpful as well. Oh, parking was plentiful as they had one lot on BOTH sides of the restaurant for you to park in. I'm honestly trying to find something bad to say about this place... but I can't really find any... Very very good salads & burgers. I never get disappointed with the Lebanese Chicken salad. It comes with a lot of pita chips and a good chicken breast. The only thing I would say is it's a bit pricey for a salad. I paid $16 for mine, which is not too bad for the amount of food I got but still on the high end. I was at this location on 1/16/2024 @ 11:54am. Yes, this was the day of "the freeze". I initially took a seat in the corner by the windows. I had to move because of the draft on my neck from the windows. I moved across the room to table #24 (as notated on my reciept). I had on insulated boots, thick wool socks, termal underwear. It was so cold in that place that I had to put my coat on to eat. I was literally shivering and almost asked for my salad to-go. Some guy finally took my order and brought me water. Mind you, that when I arrived there were only 3 customers in the dining room. All of the wait staff was huddled in the back by the kitchen. When my food arrived it was delivered by, I guess Gabriela A (as that's the name on my receipt). I asked if the heaters were working and , not even looking at me or really answering, she just kind of grunted, looked around and waved her hand toward the foor. As if that was an answer. I did not see her again for the rest of the meal. She never looked me in the face. She never asked how my meal was. She never even refilled my water! Another waiter with a groomed reddish beard was buzzing around the dining room and refilling drinks for people. But NOT "Gabriela"! After I finished, the waitress (again not even looking at me) asked if I wanted anything else. I had hardly finished answering when she pulled a roughly folded up piece of paper out of her pocket and put it on the table. Which I realized was my bill. Obviously she was not interested in whether I wanted anything else or not. Ok, cold is cold. It was an unusual day. After my meal I went to the restroom which, to my surprise, was VERY toasty and cozy (if you can say that about a restroom). If I had known that it was that comfortable in the restroom, I would have seriously considered eating in there!!! On my way out the door, I merely asked the hostess why was it so cold. I WAS NOT BITCHING! Merely asking. She gave me a litany of excuses. No "I'm sorry" or any concern about the discomfort or inconvenience on my part as a paying customer. After her list of excuses came "Hey. I have to be here all day." Like that was my concern....It's not about her!!! She is getting paid to be there! I paid to ear there! I can get a $15.00 salad anywhere. Needless to say, I will not set foot in this place again. The only reason I did in the first place was because the original Barnaby's on Fairview (who knows how to treat customers) was closed to indoor seating at the time. The ambiance in this place is pretty cool and relaxed! We came in on a Monday right when they opened and of course they had abundant seating options. The decor is adorable and they also decked the place out for Halloween. The menu isn't super intensive but all the descriptions of the items can be found by scanning the QRC code to get more detail on what's in each item. Just a far warning the portion sizes are huge...I ended up ordering a salad and kind of questioned why the price for a salad was so high! Well take a look at the picture of my salad and you'll see why. I'm sure 2 cabbages and a head of lettuce had to "die" to become part of my salad. It was a really good salad though and everyone else enjoyed their food also. The one entree could easily feed two people. Depends... Anyways. I ordered the fattouch salad which comes with grilled chicken. It had the right amount of everything, olives onion, greens, cheese, and dressing. There's nothing like a Ewell dressed salad. The small portion of the salad was pretty big, didn't need the regular size. I highly recommend. I have been a long-time regular at all Barnaby's locations. I saw the uproar about the owner's decision to lower the servers' hourly rate to minimum wage. While I feel for the servers, I understand that higher rent on leases, higher food costs, and unexpected closures due to severe weather impact the owner's ability to stay afloat. I hope that this is a temporary measure, and also that the servers will remain loyal if financially feasible. AND, when possible, I hope that the patrons (instead of boycotting) will consider increasing their standard tip when possible. It was adorable. The outside is very cute, with a mighty flower arrangement and a parking lit fit for a Texan. They made it really clear that they were LGBTQ friendly. We came in and were automatically greeted with a smile from a fabulous red headed lady. She sat us in a booth right outside the kitchen doors. It is an active door sonic that stuff bothers you, move. We didnt mind. The booth was clean and the restrooms were easily accessible. We were greeted within 3 mins by our server Fernando, a latino gentleman with Cool ass glasses. Kids got style. Fernando taught us a cool trick, if you scan the QR code on your menu, you ca see the photos of the menu items. I am a visual person, so having this skill added to my repertoire made me feel supreme! Thanks Fernando! So I start with the chicken Tinga quesadillas, because I was hungry and I had only had 1 cup of coffee and 3 orange juices all morning at the spa next door. So I was HIUUNGRY! Those came out within 10 mins. They were neatly presented, succulent and so damn appetizing. The chicken was cooked perfectly and spiced to perfection. The tortilla was wheat o believe, which was new to me, but it all worked. All this topped off with a queso fresco. I was in a fiesta. Following that, I ordered the flat iron steak. It came with fries!! They were so addicting and served a plenty. I even shared with my boyfriend . The steak was seasoned well and cooked just how I wanted it. My boyfriend got the French dip sandwich. It was juicy, fresh and savory. The au jus that was ment for dipping the sandwich was packed with flavor. Occasionally we would dip our fries in their. You can't go wrong with Barnaby's Cafe. At least, I don't think you can. I've been here many, many times and so far, all my experiences here with the food and the service have been pleasant. Remember one thing, though. When you plan to come here, come hungry. Their portions are pretty big. Their burgers are pretty good here, but they're just that. Pretty good. It's nothing to brag about, nothing to be all like, oh wow, I gotta go back just for their burgers. But if you're here and you're craving some burger, you'll still walk out happy. However, if it's lunch time and you feel like some burger, Lankford market is not too far from here. Just head out that way and bring cash with you. When I'm here, I usually go with one of their chicken selections. Their Valley Mills chicken is pretty good. It's grilled chicken with some melted cheese and (I think) spinach with a side of fries and cinnamon apples. Yum. It always satisfies my somewhat healthy (hey, it's grilled!) food craving. Oh yeah, don't forget to get yourself some strawberry lemonade. It's so good and for $2.50, you can drink all the strawberry lemonade you can drink. Their other chicken meals are also good. I think my least favorite one would be the La Jolla chicken. I mean, it's still good but I just don't like beans too much. Yeah, you can sub the beans but when there are other great chicken selections, I usually just opt for something else. The last time I came here, we had a first timer and he asked the waiter for a recommendation. Our waiter recommended him to try the Lebanese chicken fattoush salad. Holy crap that salad was HUMONGOUS! It's like salad for four people (ok, girls) in a giant bowl being served for one. He loved it, but he couldn't finish it. Another one of my friend's go-to order is the meatloaf. I've tried it and yup, it's also good. The lasagna is also another one that you might want to try. Their desserts aren't too shabby either. I usually have to skip the dessert because by the time I finish my meal, I'd be too full for anything extra. But on those days that I really feel like being a fatass. Then the brownie a la mode is just yummmm! The carrot cake ain't too shabby either but I'm a little biased since I have a friend who makes the world's best carrot cake and I haven't found anything close to beating hers. As for service, it's pretty top notch. They don't really have a host. They always tell me to just sit wherever. Somebody usually comes by to get our drink orders and then the waiter would show up to take our orders. All in all, if you've never been, give it a try. I think you'd enjoy it. read more

Ok, I come here a lot now. I used to not really understand the big deal about Barnaby's, but now I do. They have a huge menu and many of the items are delicious! The atmosphere is friendly and casual. The servings are huge and the prices are not expensive. I have also found, when you go to all of the locations, the food quality and flavor is very consistent. I love the idea that this is in the name of Barnaby, the owner's beloved dog, who is now in heaven. It's a great way to honor those furry friends we tend to fall in love with. I love the concept and I love the food! My favorite is the Chicken Mediterranean salad, which is huge, and I usually have leftovers for a full meal the next day. My son and I were driving around looking for a place to eat and we came across this place near the height. I have never banned and had checked out the menu on yelp and decide if we should give it a try. Luckily we went at a very good time where the place was impact and we didn't have to wait. My son and I both ordered a burger and for appetizers we order the Mac and cheese and the spinach dip. I have the day the appetizers were way better then the burgers. Maybe I was expecting something different, but the burgers are typical burgers and a high price. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed much. The service was great, but I would pass on this place. There are better burgers for a cheaper price else where. Now I cannot judge the rest of the food but I would say this, maybe in the future we will go back to try something else read more

Loved my bbq chicken, fries, apples, etc... it was all yummy. My husband liked his chicken (with ham and cheese on top) but it was nothing special. The place is cute, totally got that Montrose/midtown vibe going on. Service was good, they were definitely attentive. Parking is difficult during prime times, but that's kind of par for the course for Montrose/Midtown. Two things I really didn't like. 1) They serve sodas out of plastic bottles. How wasteful is that? Why can't they just get sodas on tap? Is it that hard? Too stingy for the free refill? It's weird. 2) My throat still hurts from talking so loudly over the din. It's so loud in this restaurant when it gets busy. There is just no sound dampening at all. I'll be back. I'd forgotten how much I like this food. I always enjoy my meals at Barnabys. This was my first time at this location. Their meals are crazy filling. Never small portions. Love that. I ordered the Buffalo Burger with fries. My friend ordered the Meatloaf. Neither one of us finished our meals. I did finish my burger but not my fries. He ordered a piece of apple pie for me and a coffee. I asked if they had creamer, they do have half & half but no flavored creamers. Coffee was good. Pie was great. Huge piece. The service was great. Waitress was very sweet and had a good sense of humor. Close enough to downtown but good parking. Surprisingly not packed during lunch on a weekday. read more

The downward spiral of the West Gray location since COVN19 reopening has been sad and unnecessary. As my girlfriend and I continued to order take out from Barnabys during the global pandemic the quality of the food had steadily declined. We wanted to support our favorite restaurants during the hard times of quarantine, but the last three visits have been unacceptable... My love ordered a salad which came with "twigs and leafy veggies" that she stated tasted like lawn clippings. While my favorite chicken burrito came with the same lunch meat she had in her sandwich club. The burrito had no substance and fell limp due to the replacement of the shredded chicken it usually comes with. It was off putting, but not even close to the nastiness of my last visit when I ordered the pesto chicken and artichoke heats sandwich. It did not have any artichoke hearts, pecans, paremesan cheese or basil!! Only a couple scoops of pesto colored chicken with no flavor LTO. It was a tasteless mess that only took two bites to be disappointedly thrown away after it feel apart due to the blatant lack of proper ingredients. It did come with a whole bunch of fries, but they were so over salted they were inedible. It seems that the effort on my part to support this once wonderful establishment was totally wasted. To have THREE consecutive meals be not sub-par, but expensive garbage is not a coincidence but a established pattern. ( The inedible lunch order stunk up the garbage can in our kitchen so bad it required to be taken to the dumpster that afternoon?) It breaks my heart to see a once great restaurant just give up on their standards. I would give it one star, but maybe something they have could be edible. Oh, the kitchen staff were laughing it up and making comments about the patrons while I waited for them to complete my to go order. They should concentrate on making acceptable food and an enviroment people enjoy eating at. Obviously the staff/cooks have decided to focus on what diners are wearing or talking about. Barnabys has failed miserably trying to weather the storm of the pandemic, but should be the only thing that doesn't recover. P.S. Other locations maybe doing better, but there are too many other places actually trying that will be getting our support. Always great food and attentive service at most of their locations when I have visited. Tuna Sandwich is my go to here, and it was perfect as always. I suggest getting the french fries instead of the kettle chips, although the kettle chips are good, the french fry serving is always big enough for two people, and the fries are excellent. We also enjoyed the "Veggie Burger". The flavor was that of the best hamburger patty that you have ever had. Really, really good! read more
