i give it 4 stars for location view, the bar and the live music they had on Saturday 7/25 (and workers). The food is just meh. Everyone was just okay with their food choices. Maybe should've just ordered the burgers instead. we all went with some sort of seafood entree and no one was thrilled with any of them. Mussels appetizer was lame. Smallest mussels i've ever encountered. fried oysters apps also was off, if they don't have raw oysters on the menu i think the smart decision would be to not order fried ones (i shouldn't have). If I ever go back, it would be for the bar and the music. Kudos to the staff ! Everyone from the hostess to the bartenders to the waitresses and busboys were giving their 100%! read more

This is the best place! The location is amazing and the food is even better. My favorite is the tilefish francaise but of course you can't go wrong with the burgers and the cheddar sauce. Tip- get a side of cheddar sauce for your fries! The steamed artichoke is delicious as well. And the drinks! read more

This is one of my favorite places on the Jersey Shore. It has not changed in years and the ambiance is amazing...nautical theme and cozy atmosphere. The service was amazing and we just loved Kelly! I'm not sure how this place has 4 stars.. they have some pretty slamming good burgers here (I get mine with the house cheese) and it is superb. The restaurant is boat themed and is no doubt one of the coolest places iv been too. Looking for scenery? This place has a gorgeous view of the river/ bridge. Great food with an excellent outside table view

Coming from someone who loves food, this place has to be one of my top-spots. It has amazing service that might take some time but is all worth the wait. The food that I have had from this is excellent and don't get me started on the desert. Their Toll House Cookie Pie has got to be one of the best items on their menu. It is warm and so tasty. My mouth waters just at the thought. And the way the handled the Pandemic was perfect. The outdoor dining idea was so smart and makes for a good outdoor option. Such a good spot and glad that the outdoor area has been added so lines shouldn't be as long. 10/10 for me!!!!! read more

I may be a bit old school but I love this place. Atmosphere is Real deal NJ shore/bayside restaurant bar with an amazing view of the Navasink. Mostly family friendly but the bar rocks to 2am for all age adults. Prices are reasonable and the menu is primarily seafood with really great red meat as a bonus. I had steamers (real steamers) that we're top notch. Also had a filet mignon that was way better than your average chain steakhouse . Yum! This place was delicious. We were in town visiting my husband's aunt and uncle who have been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years now, how amazing is that?? It also says how great their food is. We went there at night so we were unable to see the water but it would be a pretty view, Im sure, during the day. We all ordered burgers and let me tell you, they would be on the top 5 burgers we have ever had! I also got to try "Steamers" for the first time and they were so good. Surf & Turf - I've had better. Lobster was dry. Steak was just alright. Shrimp scampi - pretty good. Shrimp was tender. Taste was good. But nothing you can't find anywhere else. This is a good place for sea fresh food. Ambience looks pretty decent. The servers are quite friendly. We ordered smoked Trout fish which was served with side of capers, freshly cut tomatoes, red onions and Aioli sauce which was perfect accompaniment with the smoked fish. We also ordered raw clams which looked freshly caught. The sauce for the chicken wings was hot and sweet. A perfect blend of taste. It was served without the mushrooms and onions - which I had to ask for and so the waitress delivered plain mushrooms and onions in a small dish. Again, NO taste to them. I asked for the burger to be medium, but it was well done. My boyfriend had the shrimp scampi and the sauce was disgusting and slimy. Tasted like there was flour and sugar in it. I must say the staff was super nice which is surprising in these places. Starters: Fried Zucchini (fresh cut, deep fried with Horseradish Sauce). It was very good and you can tell they used quality ingredients. Plus it was not over salted. New England Clam Chowder which was disappointing. Just lacked flavor. Meals: Mrs - Shrimp Scampi Baked in Garlic. She enjoyed it. Shrimp was de-veined thankfully. Me - Cheeseburger with scolding hot cheddar sauce. It was alright. Not the best nor the worst. Sis - Open Face Reuben- Corned Beef, Sauerkraut & Russian Dressing with French Fries. It was a large portion and she liked it. Dessert - Toll House Pie Ala Mode which was good but you can tell it was the frozen variety. Prices - moderate. Service - Attentive and super quick. They definitely want to turn tables! I just don't get it, other than if you have a window view. The food is seriously average at best. I had the hamburger and it has cheese whiz on it, nothing else, oh yeah a pickle and some chips probably bulk purchased from Costco. Came here for an early dinner and it was already crowded at 4:30. The bar was packed and people were waiting for tables. We got seated pretty quickly and the hostess was not that polite and she sat us by the marina view but directly under the vent but thank goodness the vent would go on and off cause it sure was cold! The view was really nice and it was a great view while you ate. We ordered a bottle of wine and after 45 mins later it came and it was really warm. I had asked for a bucket of ice to chill the wine and what they gave me was kind of not what I asked when you try to put the bottle in it didn't fit and was way to much hard ice to break thru it. The raw clams were good but very small appetizer and the dressing for the salad was very little. I enjoy my shrimp in garlic and basil with linguini & the brownie a la mode which is pretty big compared to all of the other meals. I would come back for just the bar and Marina dock view but the food is nothing special especially since it's not much spices or flavoring to average seafood. read more

Had a sad experience last night at Barnacles. We all know that the peanuts have been gone for a while, but now the Andes Candies are gone too! Even worse, THE BURGERS ARE SMALLER. Not sure what the ownership is thinking, but it seems pennywise and dollar foolish to nickel and dime people who have been going there for years. We expect certain things. I'm sure that these things seem like small decisions to the management, but maybe they should look at it from a long-time customer's point of view. I've been going to Barnacle Bill's since I was a kid. It was my favorite restaurant to go to because it had unlimited peanuts, peanut shells all over the floor, yummy food, and we could feed the ducks. The peanuts and peanuts shells are now gone but the food is still great and the ducks are still there. Expect a long wait to get a table, expect it to be loud, expect the wait staff to be friendly and accommodating, expect to leave full and satisfied. There is a big bar area to hang out at while you wait and there are video games in the back room for the kids. My favorite items on the menu are the steamers and the crab cakes. Barnacle Bill's was a great spot for dinner for younger people and families, alike. I'm the type of guy that likes to sit at the bar with a good burger and a Heineken while watching a game or hanging out with some regulars. Barnacle's was my go-to until about a little over a year ago. That's when they got rid of the peanuts and started to go a little downhill. Their cheddar (sauce) bacon burger was always top knotch. Now, you can tell the ingredients are of a lower grade along with other options. Based on some inside information, I've heard the owner's wife stepped in and started making a bunch of changes. Recommend their burgers and salads, avoid the seafood. We tried their scallops and scrod on the specials menu and were not that fond of either. The scallops were in a marinara sauce and just a bad idea. The scrod was average, but considering their seaside location I expected a fresher and different dish. I've given this place about 20 chances over the past 14 years living in the area. Just don't bother....unless you really want a burger. Because that's really the only thing it seems anybody will ever eat here. For folks who don't eat burgers...... Save the trip. Fish, steaks, anything other than a burger is MISERABLE. Loud with awful service... Took 3 or 4 times asking just to get a glass of water....and it never came. Waffle house does a better steak.... Crowded, completely overrated , overaged frat bar. Great location, great decor, and a great staff. The food quality is on par with most Irish pubs. Fried food, juicy burgers, etc. We had the mozzarella sticks, chicken wings, spinach salad, grilled chicken sandwich, and blackened catfish. I ate the spinach salad. It was large enough for two people, and it was very good. The blackened catfish was in a pool of buttery sauce. It was tasty, but I kept getting bones (seven in total), which ruined my appetite. So disappointed. Went here pre-COVID and had horrible service. It was around 8 pm and we were ignored the whole time. The place was empty too. The bus girl asked us if we were waiting for our bill in an exasperated tone like she knew the server was unreliable. She had the bussers do everything for her like bringing us our drinks, food, boxes, and bill. She didn't even ask us if the food was okay or if we needed anything. The only thing she did was take our order, the other staff were more attentive! It would be one thing if the place was busy, but both times we went to dinner were at off peak times, yet we were still ignored by the server. Sorry, but hire more reliable servers who actually care. It's sad that the bussers had to do everything and will probably get only a small percentage of the tip. In regards to the food and drinks, the first LIT was super strong and the next ones were weak. The burgers didn't even come with LTO, which seems strange to me. The oysters had shards of shell pieces when you tried to eat them. Overall, it was inconsistent and I'm unimpressed. After about 2 hours and 15 minutes we were finally seated and had dinner. The food was good along with our waitress. The real problem that bothered us was that several parties came in and were seated right away One gave cash to the hostess and the other one was a friend. The one party was even joking that they new the hostess and they did not have to wait Like us. I even felt bad for a family with kids that were waiting well over 2 1/2 hrs. Came in on a Friday night with my parents for dinner. Bar was full but we were seated quickly. There was a decent amount of open tables. Music level was good- loud enough to hear but low enough that you didn't have to yell. Food was good- we had the chicken parm, a cheeseburger, and potato skins (be careful- they were sure greasy!!!). We all ordered a salad as well. Food timing was perfect, we didn't feel rushed at all. Service overall seemed a little slow but was ok because we weren't in a rush. Band was setting up as we were leaving. Personally, i'd give it a 3 out of 5... but the rents agreed it was a 4 star. I love the ambiance, one of the reasons why I keep coming back. I've been here before, never a bad time. Only con is that it can get a little pricey but I guess it's pretty cheap for a restaurant in Rumson on the ocean front. So this place came highly recommended on Yelp so we decided to hit it on the way north from Ocean Grove. The atmosphere is what you want in a seafood dive but when we asked the waitress what they are famous for she said "burgers"?? Which is surprising since 80% of the menu is seafood. The portions aren't huge as I read in other reviews. The service and staff though were quite friendly and we barely had to wait for a table on a Friday night. Its also much pricier than Id like for the quality of seafood served but we walked out with full tummies. read more
