So we went to this place twice, I like their food, but sometimes it's too salty. I don't like their manager, I hadn't talk to him, but they have no ingredients. At first time they had no tomato's, now they have no mozzarella. They should change their manager if he can't manage how many ingredients they need. read more

Friendly staff, cute little patio and the music was a nice touch. I like the idea of food/wine in a bookstore, I think it is a first for the area if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately, the inventory is not as large as the store on Sunrise (about 1/2 at best) with a very limited gift/game section. If you're interested in photography or finance not much in the way of inventory for either of those subjects as well (I couldn't find one photography magazine). The few photography books I was able to find I had to literally climb over two women sitting in chairs, drinking wine, stepping on their bags, just so I can see what few books were on the shelf because the placement of the chairs were so close to the bookshelf. read more

So I'm visiting the area for a day and decide to go shop for some books. It's a rainy day and I'm wearing an oversized hoodie and a beanie. So, I walk in and don't get a single greeting. I head over to the Manga section anyway. An employee walks by me and is clearly watching me as if I were being suspicious. So I leave that section to go check out the cookbook section and I am having the hardest time finding a specific cookbook and this employee walks by again as if he is watching and stands next me looking dumbfounded cause I can't find a book as I am about to ask for help the guy walks away. I finally find the books I am looking for so I decided to sit down and take a look at them. And this guy walks over and is watching me again. I had my fill of being treated like a crap. So I left. I can't stand places of business that judge "a book by its cover." You lost some good business. I wouldn't have been so bothered if the employee had been doing work. But he was just walking around aimlessly doing nothing but judging me. read more

I was very excited to hear about a new bookstore opening in Folsom, ever since Borders closed down years ago, so when I heard it opened, some friends and I headed over to check it out. The first thing that struck me was the size of the store. I was blown away at how large it was, and although it may not be as large as the one in Citrus Heights I believe, it's still large for a bookstore. They had a wide selection of books to choose from, and I spotted vinyl as well! The employees were incredibly helpful, approaching about a minute upon entering and asking if we needed any assistance. The bookstore was lovely, however the reason I'm only giving this review two stars is because of the cafe. I had been hoping to study for an upcoming final while enjoying some coffee, so my friends and I headed over to the seating area and the hosts in the front said it was alright to sit on some small couches and chairs along the wall. I went up to get a drink (the barista was extremely helpful and kind), then headed back to my table. After about half an hour of studying I finished my coffee, and not a minute after I set my cup back down on the table, a manager (I believe?) walked over and told us we needed to leave immediately. We were naturally confused and apologized for whatever the problem was, and when asked what was wrong, the manager said we were sitting in restaurant seating space, which wasn't allowed. This confused me even more, as the barista up front told me the area where I was sitting in was perfectly alright and the restaurant seating was in fact located in the back behind the cafe seating, a divider clearly evident between the restaurant and cafe front. It's also important to note, it was around 3 PM at the time we were told to leave, which seemed like a very unusual time to have lunch or a lunch rush, and there weren't many other customers in the front seating already. And if where we were sitting wasn't allowed, then why had the hosts said it was alright to sit there, only to wait half an hour before telling us we had to leave? We were also informed our backpacks were obstructing the walkway, but there was a line of arm chairs and tables between my friends and I and the main walkway, not to mention our backpacks were hung over the back of our chairs, stowed under the tables, or kept close to the sides of our chairs. It simply felt that the manager didn't want us there and was somewhat abrasive as she told us to leave, leaving us with an overall extremely upsetting experience, coupled by the fact it was raining heavily that day so we were left in the rain without a place to go. My friends noticed another group of students studying were told to leave as well while we were packing our items. they were sitting in the middle of the front cafe area on blue couches, but it is unknown if that was considered restaurant seating as well. Typically my friends and I would head to a Starbucks or Peet's Coffee to study for big tests and finals, and everywhere I've gone the other stores are always welcoming; this is the first time I've been turned away from a cafe/coffee shop location while studying. Being an avid reader and frequent customer at the Barnes and Nobles location in Citrus Heights, I was so excited to be able to visit a Barnes and Nobles in a more local location, study literature, and enjoy the coffee, but I don't believe I'll be coming back again - it seems I'm not welcome. I hope there will be a better distinction or clarification to future customers as to where it is alright to sit without being evicted as soon as they finish their drinks and/or meals. read more

The Kitchen is a gem! We stopped on our way from Tahoe back home to San Francisco just hoping for a decent sandwich and some air conditioning, but we found a great restaurant. I had the vegetable salad with the Green Goddess dressing (house-made avocado base) and a perfectly cooked piece of salmon. Delicious! My husband had the brisket and beef burger - also perfect. Has a lovely selection of beer and wine. However the best part was the excellent service from the host, Mark, and our waiter Peyton. Everyone was very patient with our little guys. Highly recommend. We will be back, which seems weird for a bookstore restaurant! read more

I just want to start off by saying no other place has made me feel more welcome than this location. I've been a full time student for about 2 years now, and for the past 2 consecutive years I've struggled with finding a place where I can finish my homework and write my essays comfortably. One of the managers, Marvin (sadly he's only at this location for a month) has not only treated me like a regular customer but as a friend as well, and motivated me and pushed me to get through this semester which I couldn't thank him enough for. The menu, the atmosphere, and the employees truly give character to this place, which is why I always find myself gravitating towards it and spend 2-3 hours here, 5 days a week. Hopefully the employees don't get tired of seeing my face any time soon. Thanks for helping me get through college, and thank you for existing! read more

Let me begin....out in the fall harvest a little booth selling chips and guacamole for 4.00, tells us to go into the store to pay(since we needed to pay with a card) ...k...we enter the store where you have 1 person working the register, 1 girl only can make cold beverages, with a line out the door! We tell them we are there for the chips, she say oh no we have to pay 12.00 for the same thing......what a joke! But after waiting in line you agree to pay, then wait 20 minutes for chips and guacamole......really! I understand maybe some one didn't show up for work, but to overcharge and not make it right is just not good business etiquette. I am sure the gal at the register was overwhelmed, but a manager should have been called to figure out why someone else is telling you a different price.......... read more

I was super excited that they decided to build a Barnes and Noble in folsom. I was pretty sad when Borders closed down. I signed my child up for the summer reading program that they have going on. This store is super clean and well organized. They staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the product. I love when employees can recommend books based on other books I'm interested in. Will definitely be returning. read more

First of all, this is a review about the cafe, not the books section. Unfortunately, ordering coffee here is quite the ordeal. After waiting in an unnecessarily delayed line, we finally ordered. The woman behind the counter didn't write down latte orders on the cups which should have been the first indicator of failure. After waiting for 15 min (because the people who ordered before us were) I finally asked where our drinks were. They were completely forgotten. Not to mention the previous customer's order was inaccurate. There were multiple people on bar, fumbling around with empty cups and they all seemed to be handling the drinks together without a clue as to what they were doing-- which seems completely asinine. When they finally did give us our drinks, they still seemed clueless and not a bit remorseful. At least I had time to look at new books that I will check out from the Library instead. I will never order coffee here again. read more

I've used public restrooms all over the world. I've seen great ones, and I've seen atrocities. Barnes and Noble isn't one of the extremes, but it's definitely not good, specifically the toilet paper. If you enjoy sandpaper on your sensitive areas then this bathroom is for you, but everyone else will have a rough time. Also, their toilets flush automatically with a motion sensor, meaning if you lean too far while trying to wipe up, it will flush. This wastes water while we are in the middle of a drought, and it is annoying. Some water splashes up and gets on your bottom, requiring you to try to wipe it up, therefore causing the toilet to flush again. It's a vicious circle. I will give them credit, they have a lot of restrooms, all single-toilet with lockable doors. But the toilet paper... If the toilet paper was upgraded at least one more ply and the toilets removed the motion sensor, I could give these bathrooms a 4-star, but until that day, Barnes and noble will remain at simple 2 star. read more
