Color changing tea when you put lemon on it
    Nikkomae S.

Parking- Get there as early as you can, especially on weekends, to secure a good spot. The restaurant is in an outdoor shopping center, which can be busy at times. They do have overflow parking in the back, which was not a bad walk. I chose this afternoon tea restaurant specifically because it offers vegan options for an extra charge. You book your reservation online, and they will email you to confirm it. The response was fairly quick. I reserved for two Royal Tea which was $58/person with the $6 charge for one vegan option. Our reservation was at 2 PM. We arrived promptly, and our table was already set. I took my goddaughter here for her 16th birthday and wanted her to experience something new. We were seated and given the tea menu, from which we could choose two different tea selections per person. I chose the Japan Genmaicha and the Darjeeling Estate. My goddaughter chose the Pretty in Pink and the Butterfly pea flower. Honestly, I enjoyed all four teas we chose. The butterfly pea flower was really cool, especially when you squeeze the lemon because it changes color. Adding honey to any of the teas was also really good, as it adds a nice, sweet note. The first meal we had was a small pancake, which I found very tasty. They had a vegan option for this as well and offered vegan butter. That first dish was really good. The next dish was a salad, served with a vinaigrette dressing on the side. Then our mini bites tower was served. One thing I would say about the food tower is that I wish they'd separate the vegan from the non-vegan food. It was honestly hard to tell which was vegan and which wasn't. I wasn't sure if this was something I could've requested, but this was the reason I gave 4 stars. Also, because the server had to switch one of the scones at the last minute to a vegan one, they gave us a regular scone. I really loved the quiche and the chicken croissant. After the second tower, we were both so full that we couldn't get to the dessert and had to bring it home. All the mini bites were really good, and we enjoyed them all. If you have any dietary restrictions, make sure you request that it be placed on a separate plate. One other thing that brought my rating down to four stars is the service. They need at least 2 servers to handle the afternoon tea. They only had one, and she was handling about five or six tables and doing all the teas and mini bites, literally by herself. They should have two people so they can split responsibilities. Having a single server handle everything was not feasible. All in all, my goddaughter and I had an amazing time here. We enjoyed our meal and our experience. The price point was really good as well. We will definitely be visiting again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]what a lovely place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] my daughter booked us a spot on a beautiful day here an i was wow'd!!!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was beautiful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]..the treats and sandwiches were delicious and the tea tasted amazing. What a fun time. The server was courteous and helpful.

Holy Cow! I hadn't been to a Vampire Penguin in nearly a decade, but the Folsom (Palladio) location reminded me exactly why I loved it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop is bright, welcoming, and has a beautifully decorated tea room that adds a touch of elegance and whimsy to the whole space.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's the kind of place that makes you want to plan a huge tea party for your loved ones.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Twix and the Strawberry Cheesecake shaved snow, and both were absolute showstoppers. The presentation was picture-perfect, and the texture of the shaved snow was so light and airy it practically melted the moment it touched our tongues. Each bite was layered with fresh, flavorful toppings that made it almost impossible to put the spoon down. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Between the charming setting and the unforgettable desserts, this visit was pure delight from start to finish.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Five stars all the way!

12/13/2025: [[HIGHLIGHT]]VP Tea Room's gorgeous interior![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My first-born daughter and I decided chilling at VP after an unsatisfactory Hanguk meal experienced at uh-hem~OZ=ANI MOGO! We decided inhaling a desert here since, the deserts are far more appetizing and appealing to our traumatized olfactory and palates.

Very easy to book a reservation and [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute setup.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The tea sets were so pretty. The food was great and so were the portions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I took my nieces here to experience a true tea party. They learned lots of table and dining etiquette, but mostly the etiquette of pouring their own cup of tea and doctoring it up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had a blast and lots of food to take home. There was a total of 4 adults and 2 kids, we had 1 pot of tea for the kids and 2 for all of the adults to share. We were happy with all of our tea selections. This would be a great place for a light brunch or birthday party! Definitely would recommend!

I've never had shaved ice like this before it was a great experience service was a little slow but we got there after tea time its understandable! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance was so good I like the environment how its all purple and lots of flowers![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I recommend coming out here especially a hot day!

Came for their afternoon tea. Was ok, nothing special. Food wasn't great. The sandwiches were all kinda average. I didn't eat any of the cheesecakes or scones. Didn't look the freshest. But the set up was super cute. Super cute tea sets.

Had the Royal Tea experience at Vampire Penguin today and it was exquisite! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The table setting was absolutely adorable,[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] the tea was phenomenal (highly recommend the Rooibos cotton candy) and the food was crave worthy. To top it off our server, Erica, was attentive and made certain our experience was perfect I'm already looking forward to going back with my daughter.

My husband surprised me and took me here for king and queen high tea and I had the BEST time! The service was phenomenal here! She was so so sweet and accommodating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor and cleanliness was unmatched.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There really isn't a place like this one. The pretty in pink tea was my absolute favorite! The sandwiches were fresh and desserts were so tasty. I had zero complaints about anything! I will DEFINITELY be back!

Went there for high tea which was a great experience. Loved the ambience and the decor. The service was great and I will definitely be going again for more high tea

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was very sweet and helpful, it was valentine's day so I feel like they were a bit stressed and disorganized when it came to cleaning and putting the tables together on time. We did have to wait to sit so they could set our table up. Other than that the tea is delicious. The food was yummy very average finger foods not disappointed though! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very beautiful dishes and everything was clean![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The base is super light- I don't feel super sluggish after eating here. It's such a unique experience- Sometimes the quality can vary, which is unfortunate- but still remains one of my favorite places in Sac for a nice light dessert Service is okay- [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is tailored towards like very young girls and can have an overpowering smell when you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

After a very disappointing high tea experience elsewhere, I really wanted to redeem the idea of treating my mom to a proper afternoon tea and Vampire Penguin High Tea absolutely delivered. From the moment we arrived, you could tell this was going to be different. Everything felt thoughtful and intentional. The food was genuinely delicious not just pretty to look at. The truffle egg sandwiches and ham and cheese were standouts, and they even made a lovely veggie option for my mom without hesitation. The tea itself was exactly what you hope for in a true high tea experience high-quality loose leaf teas with a great selection. You can really taste the difference. And the scones... finally, real scones. Paired with clotted cream, they were rich, soft, and just right. We also started with warm, crispy crumpets that were such a treat and honestly set the tone for the whole experience. What made it even better was knowing everything is baked and prepared fresh the same day. You can taste that care in every bite. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the whole afternoon feel even more special. If you're looking for a proper high tea experience that actually lives up to the idea this is it.

The service was fantastic from start to finish. We had the chance to chat with Julian himself along with a couple other staff members, and everyone was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The stars of the meal were definitely the breakfast wrap and the bacon, egg & cheese croissant. The breakfast wrap had the perfect balance of scrambled eggs, bacon, seasoned potatoes, avocado, and cheddar cheese. Everything worked together without any one ingredient overpowering the others, and the salsa on the side was a great addition. Honestly, it's one of the best breakfast burritos/wraps I've had. And the croissant... wow. It was absolutely delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the croissant was light, flaky, and buttery, and every bite was packed with flavor. The Nutella crepe was also very good. The crepe itself was perfectly made, though there was a little more Nutella than I personally prefer. Next time I'll probably ask for less, but that's purely a matter of taste. The avocado toast was the only item that didn't quite hit the mark for me. It was good, but the honey flavor dominated the dish and drowned out some of the other ingredients. I'd love to taste a little more balance there. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and genuine hospitality made for a great breakfast. We'll definitely be back, and I'll be dreaming about that croissant until then.

The sticky rice and mango sorbet were like heaven. Literally heaven. I'm never in Folsom but I will need to come back for this flavor. The idea of making sticky rice into gelato was genius but then combining with mango was just next level. I will be dreaming of this flavor. We were enjoying it so much I never got to take pictures. I opted for the Salty Caramel Truffle waffle scoop, while my husband opted for 4 favor sampler with Banana cream pie, Pistachio, Monkey Business and Sticky fingers. As I get older, I find myself opting for simple flavors like Stracciatella instead of my old favorite of chocolate brownie. So while I enjoyed my Salty Caramel Truffle, the saltyness and the generous amount of caramel truffles were a bit too much for me. The portion was very generous and that didn't help the overwhelming flavor bomb. My husband mentioned that he enjoyed the banana cream pie and pistachio flavors more than the more complicated ones.
