I was amazed with how big this branch was! My daughter had a reading assignment and we had to get that book right away as her paper was due the following day. We were easily able to look up online which branches had the book in stock and since we were going to be in Glendale we decided on this location. It was 3 stories high! I loved the third floor where the cafe was. Someone assisted us when we got there and pulled out the book from the shelf as we couldn't find it on our own. Perfect for a relaxing weekday read. 1st floor: New Release Books, Audios, CDs, Movies, Magazines. 2nd floor: Huge window where you can look out at the Americana Fountain as you reed. A few couches. Art and Travel books on this floor 3rd floor: Starbucks Coffee shop and Nooks. This floor is massive! You go up the escalator and around the corner and you will see the Starbucks and children's books. This Starbuck's is a perfect place for studying. Every B&N is nice, you get to browse stacks of books, and there is generally the every present Starbucks for coffee or a bite. This 3-story (relatively) sedate location amid the bustle of the Americana is typical of the chain. It is a nice place to get the kids away from the more commercial (and expensive) places that part parents from their cash and try and get them interested in reading, a habit that pays you back. read more

As a fan of books, I do love bookstores. This B&N is great. It's located near plenty of other shopping areas. It's three floors and there's a small Starbucks inside. I don't recommend the food there. Maybe it was just today, but my coworkers and I didn't enjoy our items. Drinks are great just not the food. It's clean, bright, and very well organized. They validate so make sure you ask for it. Plenty of space for someone like me to sit down on the carpet and enjoy a few pages of a good book. Only drawback is not having enough $$ to buy it all. read more

Bridgette had the audacity to tell my children to leave. And when I asked what they did she said they caused a couple toys to fall off the shelf. Mind you this is in the children's sections where children are encouraged to try the toys! Why do you have a kids section if kids cannot explore and feel comfortable in it???!!!!!!!!!! Really contemplated on how many stars to give my experience on 12/28 are. 445-5pm My low star count is directed towards management... not the staff. As i come here often i always get great sevice from the team in the cafe and all those that work on the 3rd floor... which is where i usually spend my time as i have kids and they love the anime section. On the 28th i noticed that one of my regular people in cafe looked really ill... like poor thing should have been sent home.... I've worked as a supervisor in retail for many years and i think that maybe management should be a little more sympathetic to their team... i get that it was holiday time but cut your staff a break ...you could visibly tell your employee was sick... read more

I don't like this location. My friend and I sat down on the floor with a book and someone yelled at us to get off. I didn't know you couldn't sit on the floor there. What's the big deal? The person didn't even say it nicely, they said it really rudely. Geeeez man. Plus the selection of books here isn't very good, in my opinion. I'm so happy that this Barnes and Noble is here. It's one of my main areas to check out when I'm at the Americana. It may be three floors, but that's how many sections of items that they have to check out! It's almost like the modern library for me almost. You can drop by and check out any new books and items to read. Also there are chairs and areas to sit and the second floor and third floor balcony. Great place to loiter. You can loiter in the magazine section while waiting for your movie to start next door. You can loiter in any of the clean and well-maintained book isles. You can loiter in the DVD/BluRay section. You can loiter in the Starbucks area. Endless loitering possibilities exist. I love this B&N! It's huge and they have an enormous selection of all kinds of things. There are a ton of spots you can just sit down and read too and just get lost in the pages. Your manager working today (July 7th) a Sunday at 2:30 micromanaged and treats customers like they are kids. It was not your place to reprimand me if I was an "educator" or not. Maybe instead you could have utilized your version of customer service better to suggest I join the Member's Club rather than assume I was using someone else's. If I could give negative stars, I would, one star is being VERY VERY VERYYY generous. After waiting 25 minutes for a drink, and buying a bag of chips, I realized that my chips were TEN DAYS EXPIRED. I go to return the bag of chips an associate said I couldn't return it without a receipt. I'm sorry but the proof is stamped on the bag. The unbothered manager "Scott Patten" didn't show any sympathy or apologize. I wasn't looking for a huge scandal just maybe an apology but it's clear the manager doesn't care about the situation or the store in general. Came in for an order pick up. Thought I could be in and out. I waited 20 mins and was first in line to pick up. Did not get acknowledged and when I flagged someone to come over the response was the line is over there When clearly I am standing where it says order pick up where I was directed. Apparently the cashier #4 was supposed to be the Manning the orders but she did not even look our way at all. It might have been quicker to shop and hope in the regular line than to but online pick up in store. K Gave the feedback the door person, although he apologized his response was I'm not a manager. I work in the mall so I understand the stress of working in a retailer during the holidays but it was frustrating that no one even acknowledged us and they were 4 other cashiers taking care of the other clients. You should have a cashier designated for orders so you don't run into service issues. At the bare minimum make sure your clients are being acknowledged and redirected if needed. read more

No one appreciates them anymore. 80% of the population have stopped stimulating their minds/learning and are too wrapped up in the Kardashians to expand their minds beyond reality TV. All my friends ask me why I don't just get a kindle or read on a tablet...I prefer the simpler things in life and think we're all a little too wrapped up in technology so I will stick to paperback books, thanks. It's hard to find a book store these days so I pretty much stick to Barnes & Noble. The location is convenient because it's in the Americana although it is on the small side. Staff is very friendly & helpful (as you should be in a book store) and have even recommended some good books to me. My most recent visit was to pick up some pocket maps in the travel section and I will say, it was a bit lacking. I (of course) got distracted by the art section and picked up a book on Vincent Van Gogh as well - oops! read more

I go to this bookstore from time to time, mostly to browse and look at the bargain books. It's hard to find actual bookstore these days, and Barnes and Noble is pretty much the only mainstream one that still has an actual store. This location is nice and conveniently located at the Americana. It's usually clean and I love bookstores because they are always so relaxing to be in. There's free wi-fii here and 3 stories of books, magazines, and random nic naks. The first floor is mostly magazines, DVD's, and CD's with some tables that have gift items and tables of new books. The second floor is all books - travel, self-help, cooking, art, medical books, and a clearance table. The third floor is Starbucks, all the kid/teen books, test study preps, bargain books, toys/legos/gift items, and the nook station. There are scattered benches and chairs scattered around the store. On the third floor is an outdoor reading area while the second floor has an area where guest readers perform. Barnes and Noble does send out coupons from time to time. The biggest coupon I get is 25% off, but they are not valid on certain toys like legos and books such as test aid books. I can usually browse the bookstore for hours without getting bored. I love looking at travel and cooking books mostly. The one thing I do not like about Barnes and Noble is that their online and in store prices are different. Online prices are cheaper. One book I was looking for, was a medical surgical registered nurse certification test review book. In the store it was $70, online it was $58, quite a difference and with free shipping online... why would I buy the book at the store!! I asked a worker if they pricematch their own online prices. I was told no. I decided to buy the book online instead... save $12 and just have to wait a few days... however, my boyfriend suggested I look at Amazon and other sites since there was a decent price difference already at Barnes and Noble in-store and online price. Behold, I found it on Amazon for only $47, brand new, with free shipping!! Long story short, if Barnes and Noble had honored their online prices like Target and Walmart and some other stores, I would had bought it from them... I also ordered a few more books online from Barnes and Noble for cheaper than in-store and used a coupon as well. I like to stop here whenever I'm at the Americana because I love looking at books. However, since now I know about their price difference of books online and in-stores, I will probably not buy as many books from here anymore. I'll look online first to see if the first is the same or not. Regardless, you will find me here from time to time, drinking coffee and looking at travel and cook books! Parking at The Americana is only free for one hour, get validation for 2 hours free. If you do not want time restraints on parking, then park across the street at the Galleria. I always do because I can easily be here for several hours and not even realize it! *Note: If you want book signings, you have to go to the Barnes and Noble at The Grove. read more

Although I don't buy a lot of books, and most people find books cheaper on Amazon, I do enjoy coming to this Barnes and Noble. The 3 floors design is fun, and a replication of the one at the Grove. It's also fun that they have the Starbucks up top, and the view from the patio is fantastic. That's really the only reason I come in here of my own volition, to read and journal on the patio and people watch. It's endlessly popular, and it can be a challenge to find a seat. That's actually what makes it fun, having to wait, get that delayed gratification and snag a spot. It really is perfectly placed, far enough from the regular plebians milling about on the ground floor, but close enough to the action to see what's going on and hear the fun music wafting through the air. read more

I never had a reason to encounter them, but I can say I've never been asked if I need assistance and I've been here several times. They have a nice, wide open section to sit and look out the window on the top floor. From what I recall though, they don't have a good-sized sitting area in their Starbucks. Where are all the books? It's obvious that the digital age is taking it's toll on bookstores. I will give credit to B&N for creating an electronic reader which will be their big business in years to come. I hope they will also start reducing their store sizes and go back to the book business as visiting this location, I wonder if they are a bookstore or a five and dime. B&N in the 90's were large bookstores that had every title you could imagine on the shelves. They had a small section of magazines and a few small stationary gift tables close to the checkout. At the oversized Americana location, the first floor is dedicated to movies and magazines. The second floor is quite small and has an author's "corner" which is nearly 1/3 of the size of the floor. Cookbooks, travel, photography and books about the entertainment industry make up most of the rest of this sad floor. The third floor is extremely large and has basically a toy store, books no one wants at ridiculously cheap prices, a cafe that takes up nearly 1/3 of the floor, a stationary section nearly as big as a Papyrus store, a few rows of book cases with books, and a fairly large children's books area that has a storytime area as well as tables to sit at and look at books with a few book cases inbetween. Of the book selection, there is usually 80 copies of one popular book from an author and then maybe one or two of a few others that author wrote. Less popular books aren't even on the shelves. You have to go onto their computer and search for it and it'll tell you it's online and can ship in 2-3 days. Great. I could have stayed home and ordered them. Kids area is fairly messy which I suppose is expected as I'm sure most children don't think to make sure to put books in the proper order. The cafe is usually full of people who are on computers. Really? You came all this way to sit in Barnes and Noble to catch up on facebook with a coffee you've been slurping on for a couple of hours? This store either needs to decrease their size, or needs to start putting book cases back in with popular books as well as the hard to find books so that they can broaden their customer base. They've got enough room in this store to test the waters. Will it hurt toy sales or useless book sales? Maybe, but at least it'll be a more respectable store. read more

I'm confused. B&N offers Free Wi-fi because they want you there right? Then why did they make a policy decision to COVER ALL THE OUTLETS?!?!?! I get that it's not cool when people use your electricity, use free wi-fi, and sit there all day without making a single purchase, but I don't see why if I pay for food and a drink I can't stay there beyond however long my battery life may last? (30 minutes :(. )Other B&Ns do not cover their outlets, so I'm not sure why this one does. I also found it annoying that every 20 minutes they would make some announcement over the loud speaker (pumpkin spice latte now available on the 3rd floor! ******PSA: If you are going to study here, connect to the the WiFi name, "attwifi." That's Barnes and Noble's personal wifi. It's significantly faster and more consistent than the Americana wifi. DO NOT connect to the Americana Wifi. It generally sucks It's a very big Barnes and Nobles for sure! There are plenty of books, and someone who loves books so much can really get lost in here for hours. Just make sure you can afford Americana's parking flat rate or you parked at the Galleria before you do so. I always come here to grab some good deals on some journals. They have a table full of journals on sale. I have bought decent journals at really good prices at this place. Although the quality is not as great as Moleskins, it's something worth checking out for sure. In terms of their Starbucks, it's definitely a great study place in the middle of the week when no one is at the Americana. I used to study here a lot when I went to GCC, but being back here again reminds me why I used to come here all the time. While their drinks are not the greatest, they do have a wide selection of treats to eat while you're studying, which is always nice to get when you get hungry. But on the weekends, yikes. Seats are scarce, and WiFi is not the greatest. WiFi here is generally slower when there are more people. Overall, Barnes and Nobles here at the Americana is glorious. I would say grab a drink from their Starbucks and walk around and read some good books. Just don't stain the books with your drink. read more
