My heart is so full. Today I held a book signing at the Shea and 90th St. Barnes & Noble. I was blessed by so many friends and supporters from all walks of my life. From friends who showed up, to the strangers who stopped by, today was filled with moments I'll never forget. One wonderful woman purchased Don't Be a Stranger to reflect on her many years inspiring young minds as a teacher. One gentleman chose Don't Be a Stranger to Grief, as he continues to grieve the loss of his late wife. Every conversation was a reminder of why I wrote these books in the first place. All of this was made possible by the incredible staff and management of the 90th St and Shea Barnes & Noble. At the end of the day, Ukiah, one of the wonderful Barnes & Noble booksellers, came over to share such kind sentiments and support for my recent book launch, Don't Be a Stranger to Difficult Conversations. I have no shade against Barnes & Noble as a bookstore. I love that they offer a summer reading program so my daughter can participate and receive a free book when she completed the form. They have a huge variety of books, records, games, stationery, gifts, magazines, etc. there is truly something for everyone and all readers at B&N! This location is clean with a lot of help on the floor, it's easy to find books. I would certainly recommend and shop this location again! read more

We visited this Barnes & Noble since we were running errands on this side of town. We noticed more seating areas were available. At one time, this was not the case. I enjoyed a catch up of some magazines and hubby looked at a coffee table book. Very pleasant time. Shared parking lot and WiFi in the store. read more

I love Barnes and Noble if I'm getting books I can't find at Half Price Books. The staff is always very helpful.

While Barnes & Noble locations are now much fewer and farther between, I still love a good visit. There is something about bookstores that is so special and this location is no exception. On a recent visit, my daughter and I stopped by on a weekday evening. She was on the hunt for a graphic novel to read and anytime I can support my kids' reading, I'm in! A kind employee pointed us in the right direction when we asked, and we found several books that she seemed excited about... I even grabbed one for myself as well as a cold beverage at check-out. This is a large location with a wide selection of magazines and books of course. They have a large stationary section with beautiful journals and lots of great pens. The staff is very helpful. I went in looking for a specific book for my son's class. The woman helping me went all around the store looking for the edition I needed and found the right one even though it wasn't in the computer. She didn't sell me on the expensive special edition but helped me find the paperback version that is much more affordable and appropriate for a child. I have been in several times and always a good experience. read more

It's a convenient Barnes & Noble bookstore located in Scottsdale, and they carry variety selections of books, legos, and other stuff, although the layout could be more organized and make it easy to navigate. There's also a Starbucks in the back of the store. I think staff is generally nice here too, and plenty parking right outside the store. read more

Over the years, one of my favorite types of stores to visit have been book stores, though there are fewer and fewer of them left nowadays. I remember when B. Dalton and Borders stores both closed, and while there are still quite a number of used book stores in town, Barnes & Noble is the only big chain of new book stores that are around though even the chain has reduced the number of stores in recent years. The once-upon-a-time Bookstar location is still busy and hopefully will be in business for quite some time (or as long as Barnes & Noble stores are in the Valley in the Sun). When first walking into the store, similar to other Barnes & Nobles stores, you enter into a rather open area with shelves of books straight ahead with an information desk in the middle of the store, a check out area, kids' book area, and gifts on the left, and magazines, new releases, and Starbucks on the right. There is certainly something for everyone in the store. I found that the shelves were well stocked and everything looked neat. I could see employees near the front at the checkout area as well as at the info desk, though when I was walking around the store today looking for help, I found it difficult to find someone. I was also on the mission for a new book mark. When I finally asked for help locating book marks, they were next to the info desk (and not the check out area); I realized that not all of the items in the store were in places that made sense. At least the staff knew where to go and could point me the right way. While I cancelled my paid Barnes and Noble membership years ago as I didn't shop in the stores or online as much (now that I've been going to the library), I just learned today that there are now free memberships, which let you collect stamps to save with Rewards (1 stamp for every $10 spent in a purchase; 10 stamps = $5 reward). There's has to be a meeting were the managers discuss manners with customers and general overall customer service . Second strike on this store with employees being aweful . First time I was in line and the cashier was aweful I couldn't handle the packages nor did he help and asked me to move out of his register because there's other customers while I was ina wheelchair and having a hard time handling my purchase The manager was very nice and called and apologized So I gave the store a second chance Today another cashier was joking but rude to my grandchild who we've taught manners to Plus he was excited to go look for the card he makes a hobby out of only to be told turn around we have books As if he didn't read ! Barnes & Noble at the Pima & Shea location in Scottsdale is a really comfortable place to browse, linger, and discover new reads. The store is bright, well-organized, and always smells like fresh pages. Been to this location quite a few times over the years & was ok. This go around was horrid, on par with the Tempe Marketplace location when a worker tried to start a fight with me because I told him calling me "chief" was offensive. Tonight I had the manager hanging just around the corner from me everywhere I went in the store. He made a poor show of pretending to rearrange books while watching me. I've worked retail sales before & have been exposed to this type of profiling before. I'm not sure of the one I went to, I went to the one in the Tempe Marketplace, but since I cannot remember the employee's name, I'm just gonna leave it for this Barnes and Noble; that and I assume Barnes and Nobles in Arizona are far superior to the ones where I live. I was looking for a Stranger Things book - I just didn't want a coloring book, the Barnes and Noble in my area always tell me they have the stuff in stock, only to tell me it either A.) it's online only (even though the site says in store) or B.) doesn't actually exist. I saw they had the Runaway Max book in store. I can't find it. I find an employee and he says that they're pretty much sold out. I wasn't bummed because typical Barnes and Noble, but I told him it was on the site. He looks at my phone and takes me to an area I wasn't even looking in (It was young adult, not sci-fi, my bad) and there it was. It could have been a typical Barnes and Noble situation - we have it in store, but on second thought, we actually don't. He could have just shoo'd me away. Instead he went on what could have been a goose chase. And now a Barnes and Noble in Arizona gets a good review. read more

The store manager Andy P. hung up on me and here is why. I called Barnes and Noble on Pima & Shea, Scottsdale AZ because they are selling the book my 11 year old recently published. They are only selling it online so I called to see if there was anyway for them to display it at their store. The store manager (Andy P.) who had answered the phone asked for the ISBN. None of the other bookstores that I had called previously had asked for this number, but fortunately I already had all the information ready but Unfortunately I had to refresh my screen. So, he said, you do not have the book in front of you? You are being unprofessional. I am a store manager, I am glad one of my employees didn't waste their time on you. So, I thanked him for his feedback because honestly I did not know I was being unprofessional. While thanking him and apologizing I realized that he had already hung up on me. read more

I like spending time at a bookstore. I purchase most of stuff online for lower price and convenience but when it comes to books, I still like this human interaction. Their cafe makes standard Starbucks drinks, nice to be able to read a few pages with drinks before deciding to buy books or not. Staff is knowledgeable about books. They always have great recommendation and good way to discover books by talking to them. Always clean and organized. Yes Amazon book price is cheaper often time but I still appreciate the opportunity to be able to touch books before deciding to buy. read more

One of the nicest Barnes and Noble's I've ever been in. Huge parking lot, great seating areas, large cafe, music and movie selections, and so many awesome book and gift choices. I was able to find a book from my favorite author as well as a cool book about space for my youngest. It is his new obsession and I'm so glad to encourage not only reading, but knowledge. I also bought a third book for my teenager. The check out line was the only semi negative. While the woman at the counter was awesome she was the only one working with quite a few of us in line. Pretty quick it was changed by s gentlemen that came up to help check others out. With my member discount I left for under $30. That's cheap for me. Books get me every time. I love them. read more

I came here to check out if they had anything on sale. They had a lot and it was all better priced than the other Barnes and Nobles I have explored in the area. There were a lot of books there. Probably not a lot of outlets though because someone sat in the DVD section with a laptop plugged into one. There were only two cashiers at the time and it made the checkout slightly slow, but at least they had distancing stickers on the floor so people didn't get too close. The cashier did make conversation about my purchases. As these were more like impulse purchases I didn't have much to say. read more

Bye bye Borders, etc. This particular B & Ns is in a nice location. The odd shaped parking lot can be dangerous if you're not careful. When I'm tired of reading up on school subjects, I hit up a bookstore for a bit of variety. This time around, I decided to hop into this bookstore while I was exploring Scottsdale. This B&N location is pretty big, although there weren't too many people in at the time. I checked out some book on random subjects: travel books on several countries, classic reads, and books on current events in the middle east. I tend to steer clear of anything related to what I learn in school. You gotta catch a break sometime. Like other B&N locations, this one was clean, well stocked, and orderly. I visited this Barnes and Noble looking for some books on economics, I didn't have a specific book in mind. But when I looked in all the usual sections, I didn't find anything. So I went to ask for help. I asked an employee at the customer service booth, do you have any books on socialism? And the employee wasn't sure and so she told me to go to the business section before she got back to her conversation with another employee. I go and check again making sure I didn't miss anything. Still nothing. So I ask another employee who walks me to the business section and says "If we have it, it would be somewhere in here." Then leaves. I look for another 20-30 minutes in the this section. Both employees ignore and pass by me as I continue to look for literally anything, making my party wait for me in the process. Sadly, I believe these, older and White employees choose not to offer me more support. They practically ignored my requests for help and seemed disinterested in addressing them fully. Neither offered to check the computer system. I'm very disappointed in their clear political biases, no customer should be treated like this regardless of their beliefs or interests. But in the end, I did find a single book on socialism hidden and tucked in the very bottom left corner of the business section. I won't be returning to this establishment. read more

Came in here to get some work done today. This Barnes and noble has Starbucks inside just like all the rest. They have limited drinks from Starbucks but their dessert choices are outstanding. Not only number of choices but freshness as well. The most difficult decision is to choose which one to get (or two). The barista is super friendly which is a bonus. I had a few options on where to buy books. I thought about on-line but instead chose to visit my local bookstore - my Local Barnes & Noble. The people working were always friendly and helpful. As always, they were frIendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the cost was 100% more than the cost to have the books delivered to my house the next day. Yes, twice as much. I asked about a price match, showing the cost from the place that would deliver to my house in 24 hours. But B&N does not price match. Too bad, I will miss having a bookstore in my area. read more

Very disappointed in the lack of customer service and consistent rude behavior from a particular female sales associate. I was just in the store yesterday afternoon, when for the second time, this sales associate ignored me, when I said hello and asked for assistance, the first time she did this a few weeks prior I just assumed she did not hear me or see me standing in front of her. In other words, I gave her the benefit of the doubt. But the second encounter, I made sure to make eye contact with her and said hello, when she looked at me and continued to walk past me without saying a word. I am no longer shopping at this location and will not renew my annual membership. read more

The store was clean and spread out and the staff are always very friendly. i did see two people walking around without masks and was concerned about how the store is handling these people who have no regard for other people's well being? i love to go to Barnes and Noble to find new books or other gifts but if they are not going to enforce their own requirement it could change my mind. I hope the store is confronting these people and giving them the option to either mask up or leave but I didn't see that today. read more

I was sent an email from Barnes and Noble telling me that there was a 'Fangirl welcome' party going on. 'Cosplay Welcome', I dressed up and drove my way down. When I get there there was NOTHING there that was supporting my email. All the 'free' things promised, Such as 'Fangirl buttons' and poster+sampler as well as volume 1 of a comic, were not there. As I rechecked the email and clicked locations, my Barnes and noble popped up. Well that's not true. The only reason I give any stars is because it is a close Barnes and noble and I enjoy the service but I am disappointed that I was "Punked". My normal Barnes & Noble location I visit while I'm in vacationing in Arizona. Was the B&N Kierland location, sadly they closed down this past year. I've gone to this location in the past before, it honestly isn't as good as their other locations. Each time I go, I'm hoping maybe they have became better in their services/inventory. Sadly I'm always let down.. This location is small compared to their other locations. Which is okay I don't mind a smaller bookstore, I like that cozy feeling. But then their variety of book genres inventory is limited, just due to their size & what's popular... Customer service needs to get better, especially since this location is so small! The morning shift employees are more helpful. But In the evening it's pretty bad, to the point of being rude.. I know the store hours... I know how it goes. I came in at 8:30 knowing they close at 9, to just browse fairly quickly. I already had books on hold at the front desk waiting for me, from using their handy online service!! Durning my time there, I was just browsing, looking to see if they may have more books I could potentially purchase. Working in retail as customer service agent as well, I know all to well how the closing process goes. Announcing to the customers we will be closing in 15 mins, then another 10 minute announcement, etc. I get it the employees want to leave. But rushing people like that & then having rude customer service isn't good for business. My place of work does not condone this behavior to our patrons. Yes will remind them, by offering help but not in a passive aggressive way or moving items around before I was able to see it... Britney one of the sales associate was not very helpful,a bit to rude to be working in customer service... As well the 2 gentlemen working in electronics, that were gossiping about customers, loud enough that I& other patrons could hear everything is just not professional. As a consumer, I'm more than happy to give my hard earned money to a bookstore, more than any other type of business. I've been a B&N member for years now!!! I love book stores, local & corporate it doesn't matter, as long as a bookstores stay in business!! Also The parking lot is terribly designed...! I wouldn't go durning peak shopping hours. I saw 1 car accident happen... & another almost happen!! This location is just not as well as the over locations. The Starbucks food in the afternoon & evening doesn't taste very good either. I think this place may be more of a 4 star store - mainly because of the parking situation (so frustrating!), but I can't find it in me to give it less than 5 stars because bookstores are becoming harder and harder to come by which is disheartening. This store always seems to be in order and I've been able to fin ANYTHING I need here including books (duh), movies, CD's, coffee, and random little gifts, like funny stick-it note pads, a dinosaur note holder, stuffed animals, etc. As far as books go, they have always had in stock whatever I needed whether it was for school or fun. Their movie and CD section isn't vast, but it always has classics and trending bands or movies, however I do find their prices a tad higher than other stores (like Best Buy, but now that place is disappearing). However, the last time I was in they were offering a special of buy one CD or DVD/blue ray and get another similar item for 50% off which totally equals the playing field price wise. All the aisles are clean, making finding items very easy. This location also has a Starbucks inside which is a nice plus for those days you are just perusing and killing time, you can sit a read while enjoy a beverage. read more

I had a horrible experience there on 18 December!!! Two of the rudest customer service employees I have ever not done business with!!. I have actually had a rude experience with one of them a year or so ago. The assistant manager made excuses about my experience and he was one of the rude employees I encountered!!!
