I was interested in their offers, especially the Kia Sportage which looks awesome, however the letter I received mentioned I supposedly own a vehicle I don't. So I called to first clarify that but unfortunately the sales person at Barnett Kia cut me off mid sentence to explain why I received the letter and got very defensive, assuming that I was just calling to complain. Furthermore, he hung up on me before we formally said goodbye on the call. It really turned me off about getting a Kia, so now I will consider another make. In town on business and desperately needed a part for my car. Prepaid yesterday but was late getting out of the office to pick it up. Walked in a 5:56pm to an empty service department and a shuttered parts counter. Showed the guys in the front my receipt, explained the situation and asked for some help. None of three would get off their asses to see if they could find someone, only saying "parts closes at 530 and saw them leave" and "sorry but we're different companies, can't help you out". Went in to test drive a few cars they had. In a word: awful. My first impression was that every car I sat in felt dirty, even the ones on the showroom floor had fingerprints all over them. The cars on the lot had visible scratches on them. I didn't get an impression that much care was taken to make sure their inventory was in good condition. read more

I bought a Kia. There, I said it. Had you asked me two years ago if I'd ever buy a Kia, I would've snorted in derision. But as I grew tired of driving the homo hot rod (chevy HHR) I started looking into a new car, and I took notice of the new Hyundai's (Kia's parent company) and that lead me to the Kia Optima. I test drove the Optima originally at Barnett a month prior to buying, but decided to wait a year (which turned into a month long wait) a job change and large tax refund to get few things paid off, I refocused on buying. I found a 2011 SX at a different dealership and naturally it sold the day prior. So I continued to look and see if any dealers had a 2011 on closeout, and low and behold, Barnett had 2011 EX Turbo in my preffered color in stock ready to go. Initially they seemed unwilling to come down in price, but I later realized the internet salesmen wasn't interested in negotiating over the internet. I think I annoyed him a little by shopping his dealership versus others. But I wont feel guilty about getting a good price on a car that I wanted, I had another dealer ready to order me a new 2012 Optima for nearly the same original price they wanted for a 2011 Optima. The overall transaction and negotiating at dealer went smooth, I think total time was a little long, I have bought car in shorter time frames, but everyone was very friendly. After financing with them, I found a better rate with my credit union the next day, they shopped around and got me an even better rate, so I was able to stick with them. All in all my experience was good. The salesman (James Boyd) and finance guy (Chris and Justin) were friendly and easy to work with. I would recommend buying from Barnett. I'd like to only give them 3 stars as I find buying a car a pretty painful experience, but that isn't their fault. They didn't give me any hard sells, and while I had to work hard to get price I wanted, they got the deal done and me out the door. My wife will be getting a new car in 2 years or so, and if we get another Kia, it'll most likely be from Barnett. read more

If I could post negative stars about this place I would. Their service department and manager are a joke. I brought my 14' Jeep Grand Cherokee (wasn't purchased there) in for multiple issues UNDER WARRANTY. One of the major issues was that the passenger window would only go up 1 out of 10 times pulling the switch. 3 times I was told the window was fixed and 3 times when I drove away it was still not working. After the 3rd time I called and talked to someone in service who said it was fixed and nothing more they could do. I asked about my other issues (one involving the transmission) and was told ''that's all normal''. I then requested to talk to the service manager ''Bill''. He told me everything was fixed and if I didn't like it to take my vehicle somewhere else. I will never buy a vehicle from this dealership and wouldn't bring a toy car there to have it fixed. I waited 3 hours for an oil change and transmission fluid. I have at least 5 more grey hairs and a pain in my ass. Not only from these uncomfortable waiting room seats but from this unbelievable snail slow service. The only bright side is the lady's at the service room desks are super nice. Other than that, I rather use a rusty wrench, a sneezed on screw driver or even a bar of soap to change my own oil. read more

Phone call to me (15 minutes later)--I've located the exact car you would like and can have it here as soon as tomorrow! We agree on terms. 4. I go to Barnett.com and get pre-qualified (only had to fill out two minutes worth of information). 5. Shelby calls me back (within 15 minutes)--Reviews details and tells me to come in and finish up the paperwork tomorrow and drive home my new car! Excellent Job. I am only providing this dealership with 1 star because negative star ratings are not permissible. I traded in a vehicle in exchange for a different vehicle and was told by the sales person, Rick Sorenson, that I would receive only 11 months for my tab, which he apologized for. Not a problem on my end. However, when I received my plates, I noticed that the tabs were only good for 1 month. When I contacted the dealership, first I dealt with Shannon, she said it was the finance manager's job to explain all of this to me, which of course, he hadn't. After some failed discussion, she transferred me to Mike Barnett. Dealing with him is pointless. I have never experienced such a blatant scheme in my life, nor have I ever been so disappointed with a dealership. Obviously, dealerships deal in volume and individual customers do not. It would be nothing for them to have done the right thing and honor what the sales person had discussed during the purchase negotiation. But on my end, I have to pay for tabs twice during the same year. read more

Everything about the car shopping and car buying process was OUTSTANDING at Barnett. The sales staff and managers were extremely knowledgeable about all of the models and differences, and made the selection process easy and speedy. As important as anything, they did a great job of setting expectations about delivery timing and options--and then exceeded those expectations and beat the delivery date by almost 3 weeks! On the day we picked up our new vehicle they were ready for us, did a great job of training us on key features and electronics, and followed up by phone to make sure everything was working properly (new cars can be VERY confusing these days!) The Sales Manager Tim worked hard to get the car I wanted from another dealership in WI and the sales person Milissa did not hound me per my request during my car evaluation process. I drove many new cars from a variety of dealers, but the 300 was superior in many ways over new Avalon, Cadenza, and Impala. I needed to lease the vehicle and there weere complications in that process, but they secured the vehicle and we eventually worked itwith ALLY over a 10 day period. A bit deceitful. Purchased a vehicle and had considered trading in my existing car. Decided to keep my old car based on a quote from them for repairs. When I picked up my repaired car the bill was over $200 more than what they'd quoted. Person I talked to in the service department was short with me if not downright rude, stating it was simply a misquote. In the end the guy acted like he was doing me a big favor by reducing the overcharge to $90. read more

Here is how my experience went with Barnett...... I am looking to rebuild my credit so i wanted to buy a car at dealer to see if i could get a good loan........and I did recieve a good loan at Barnett. Over paid on the car a little but oh well. Here is my problems........ -Two weeks into driving it the change oil light turns on....i check it and its filthy.....really????? -After checking the oil i check the coolant......filthy! Looks like it hasnt been changed in years -They didnt even bother to clean the inside of the vehicle, looks like the previous owner just drove it in and they put a price tag on it and let it be! I spent an hour cleaning it out and the seats still need a good shampoo.........apparently they dont detail the cars when they come in either! So as i sit today, I am kind of scared not knowing what problems might come around from this car. Dealers are supposed to perform a checklist on cars before they sell them....i can guarantee they didnt on this ! Good loans available...............but no pride in what they are selling you. read more

I originally came to the on a dealership on a whim. I wanted to get a closer look at a chrysler 200 I had seen offsite. I was greeted promptly and the sales staff was friendly and helpful. We took a test drive along with the sales person. Not the way I would have preferred it, but there didn't seem to be a choice. After the test drive followed a very low pressure sales offer. I declined at the moment as I was still narrowing down my selection, but I took the sales persons contact info and told her I would contact her if I was interested. In the several days after the test drive I was in contact with the sales agent regarding additional infomraiton about the vehicle. She was always responsive to my requests and responded in a timely manner. When it was time to make the offer, I got the expected "I'll have to ask the manager" speech which was then followed by a series of counter offers. We eventually settled on a price and arranged a meeting to sign the paperwork. Even though I brought my own financing they did request the opportunity to get me a better interest rate on my loan. I declined as I was happy with the rate and the bank that I was dealing with. The paperwork was pretty standard. We were offered several upgrade options in terms of warranties and extra add-ons, but I was not interested and we continued. The only real disappointment was the satellite radio had expired even though I was told it came with a year of service during the test drive. When I brought this to the attention of the sales agent, she apologized and said that she did not look at the expiration date before making that statement. She said I got a great deal otherwise, which I think was true, but I felt that should have made good on their statement. read more

This review is a year overdue. As a college student working two jobs I have been rather busy. For anyone looking to do business with Barnett Kia I would advise them stay away! Worst customer service EVER!! Like I said before, I did business with them a little over a year ago. I was online looking at truck reviews on Kelly's Blue Book when I found the Hyundai Tucson. It was also a good deal because it was a trade in, and came in at the top of my price range. During this time we were moving and short on cash. I had maxed out my small credit card balance to rent moving trucks. We were pretty much moving across the state, and this was the main reason we wanted to get the truck. We were also on a time schedule so we had to move the rest of our stuff out quickly and I lacked money for moving trucks. Fortunately, before we started moving, I had taken out a loan from the bank and all I had to do was pick out the vehicle. Now this was my first time purchasing a vehicle so I had my mom accompany me to look at the vehicle. We went to the dealership and did a test drive with the sales consultant Karen Reeves. We both agreed it was going to work for what it was needed and decided to put a down payment of $500 on it. I reluctantly had to borrow the $500 from my mom, something I didn't want to do because a month before this our only car died and she had the use up all of her savings to get a replacement, again in a rush. Karen told us when we paid the down payment that if we changed our minds we could get the money back. I planned to pay the whole bill with the money I got from the bank so my mom could get the $500 back. We told her that we had to do some more moving and I had to talk with my bank. This was mainly because with the taxes, the price went above my acceptable range. As I was driving up to the bank the next day I got a call from Karen asking me if I talked to the bank yet. I got a little annoyed and said I was in the parking lot and was about to walk in. This was at around 9 in the morning. She was lucky I was even awake at that time. The bank told me they couldn't loan me any more money. Which was understandable, I had already got an awesome loan for being a working poor college student. I called Karen the next day and told her that I couldn't get more money from the bank. She suggested that I finance from her. I gave it a shot; I already knew what the answer was, which was a no. I didn't make enough money: shocker. I informed her that was the reason I wanted to stay with my bank. She then told me that if I just put down another 100 dollars I could pay for the rest of it. I told her I wanted to return the money to my mom. In this one conversation, I repeated this one statement like three times! I was pissed at the end and told her I would come back in to get the down payment because I wasn't interested anymore. She then tells me that I can't get my money back. I was beyond pissed and told her I would find some other way to get the money. I told my mom what happened and she offered to let me use the money. She also suggested that I try to see if I can get the dealership to lower the price. I thought I would give it a try as it was only $100. So the next day I was woken by Karen calling me again. She was wondering if I had figured out a way to pay for the car, and I told her I was hoping that they could lower the price. I was then transferred to the Finance manager, Justin Dosdall. He plainly said that they couldn't because it was already discounted. I couldn't believe it, it was only $100! He suggested I get financing through them, and I snapped at him and said I already tried that. He then suggested that I ask my mother for another 100 or a friend of mine for it. I got really pissed then because I didn't want to ask my mother for more money, also I had already asked all my friends to bend over backwards to help me move, they had done enough. I told him to wait a week cause at the end of the week I would get paid and hung up. The problem was that I had taken time off from work to move and I knew I would get next to nothing in my paycheck. At this point, I wanted to tell them to shove off, but I already invested 500 of my mother's money and I wasn't going to back down. I was hoping the garage sale we were having would help to make up the 100 because at this point we were both broke. During the week I would be called 2 to 3 times a day by Karen and Justin asking if I had gotten the money yet. Every time I would tell them I was waiting on my paycheck! It got to the point I memorized their numbers and just didn't pick up. They then had another guy from their work call and ask about the money knowing that I would pick up because I didn't know his number. I just stopped picking up all numbers. Luckily our home phone was disabled or I am sure they would have called there too. At the end of the week we picked up the car. Overall do not go here! read more

I took my Kia Sorento to get serviced for an issue that was under warranty and the staff in the service department were completely unprofessional, specifically Dennis Albright. I was treated badly upon first walking in to drop my car off and then not contacted about what they found and what time my vehicle would be done. I ended up calling the service department where I was told that my vehicle was being worked on and would be done by the end of the day. Well, I showed up at 5:30 pm and my vehicle was not done. I had no way of getting home and was told they "didn't do" loaner vehicle. So much of the bad experiences I had with the service department in the past two days could've been fixed with professionalism and communication, but they exhibited neither. I will not be taking my vehicle back to be serviced there nor will be buying my next vehicle from this dealership. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE TO BE SERVICED. Something fishy is up with the service shop. My wife brought her Kia Soul up to this location to get a tire patched because of a slow leak on two separate occasions. The first time she brought it up she was told the tire had a nail in it, the nail was removed and the tire was patched. One week later the tire light comes on again and low and behold it's the same tire. She brings the car up again to get the tire patched again plus see if they can check out why it's been having a hard time starting (The key would have to be turned in the ignition several times for the car to start.) After a couple hours we go to pick up the car and we're told there was ANOTHER NAIL in the same tire and it's been patched and that they couldn't find any reason why the car wouldn't be starting. Guess what - one week later the tire light comes on again and the car won't start at all. We bring it to a DIFFERENT location, they tell (after about half an hour.) the tire has a bead leak around the rim and that the battery is dead, which is why it wasn't starting. The Kia dealership specifically told us that the battery was fine. DON'T TRUST THE SERVICE SHOP. I called and told them of the issues and I was basically just given excuses and a bullshit story about Minnesota weather as an excuse for the mechanics not doing their jobs. All I wanted was a refund for the tire patches and I was denied that. DON'T GO TO THIS SERVICE SHOP, THEY ARE SCAMMERS. read more

We bought our van at Barnett a few years ago. The sales guys were good but the financing guy was a total disappointment. I went in a few weeks ago to have a recall fixed. I wanted to make an appointment but they wouldn't let me. They said it would only take 10-15 minutes. When I arrived I was told 15-20 minutes. After waiting 45 minutes, I went out & asked if my van was done yet. Apparently, they had lost my keys but left me sitting in their dreary waiting room without saying a word. Ten minutes later they finally found them. I received no apology. I will never have my van serviced here again & will never buy another vehicle here. read more

We noticed it before he submitted it. He said he would clarify the information with his warranty rep. That discussion wasn't made and he sent it in incorrectly. I recently had an issue with my 2017 Kia Sorento. Completely under warranty. When I was told that it needed to be towed to the nearest Kia dealer I told Kia Roadside Assistance to go to Barnett. However, after speaking to them on the phone and asking about how soon after I and my vehicle arrived at Barnett could I get it repaired. I was told that if my vehicle was not there by 4:00 p.m., they would work on it the next day. I asked if that was the case could I please get a loaner. They said they did not provide loaners. However, when I looked up the Kia policy it clearly states that if your vehicle is under warranty you are given $35.00/day for a loaner vehicle paid for by Kia. So I am wondering how many people have been taken advantage of at this dealership. I know that although I live close to this dealership and did not buy my vehicle there I will never recommend this dealership or take my vehicle there for service or any type of repair. I was able to get my vehicle to the purchasing dealership and they fixed it that evening and I went home with all repairs done at absolutely no cost to me. Dawn W. read more

After some miscommunication about whether their price match was before or after the $500 Manufacturer's rebate, Shawn satisfied us that we were still getting a very good deal. He and Pat, the contract guy, also helped us settle on warranty options to finish up a confusing ordeal applying for 0% financing. I purchased a vehicle from Chrysler Plymouth in October. My sales person, Jolene, was wonderful and very helpful. However, Barnett Kia's service department is TERRIBLE. Anytime I've called to ask a general question, they are SO rude. Doug hung up the phone on me when I asked to speak with a manager. Dennis (service manager I believe) was also rude. My vehicle is 2013 Kia Optima SXL. This morning, the keyless entry wasn't working, my key knob wasn't working, and the actual key wouldn't work to open my vehicle. I called Kia Optima's service department to inquiry about this issue, and Doug asked me, "well what is your question" after I had just explained my situation. He responded, "well it seems like you need a new battery for your key knob". I asked him where I would purchase a new battery for my key knob, not knowing that I could go to a general store such as Wal-Mart, and he responded "I don't know Wal-Mart or something" in a very rude voice as though he was annoyed. When I asked to speak with a manager, he hung up the phone on me! The vehicle I had before my Kia Optima was purchased at Toyota Maplewood, and I have NEVER been treated poorly there. I am very disappointed in their customer service, and I will make sure to let other people know to not rely on their people for friendly service and for treating everyone with respect. I am VERY regretful for having purchased a service agreement with them for two years for oil changes and tire rotations. You would think they would treat their customers with RESPECT and in a COUTEROUS manner. read more

I bought my vehicle at the beginning of February. The week after, my Oil Change Required light came on, I found a squeak in the back brakes when the vehicle was in reverse, and my tire pressure gauge was off / malfunctioning. Two weeks later, I still did not have the registration tabs. I sent emails back and forth with my salesman asking about having service done on my vehicle. I was informed that there were no service records from the dealer when this car was brought in. I was assured he would contact the service manager so I could make an appointment to bring it in for service. Really? And they don't do service work after 4:30 PM on weekdays, so the problems STILL exist and I still haven't heard from the service manager? REALLY? AND - I was told I could pick up my tabs last week, but when I got there I was informed they were NOT there and would be mailed to my house. R-E-A-L-L-Y? Pretty sure that if this car takes a nosedive, I will return it to Barnett with my middle finger in the air. I was super happy with how quick it took to buy the car, but if I would have known that the after-care was GARBAGE, I would have gone back to Rosedale Chevrolet. Disappointed. read more

If you are expecting them to stand behind their vehicles they sell or offer any type of customer service from Barnett please think again. We have always bought our vehicles from dealerships and I must say Barnetts service sucks after the sale. We bought a used Ford Hybrid and after 2 days of owning it service lights came on and when I called the sales guy we bought the car from his comment to me was you did buy the extended warranty and have it taken care of anywhere you want. He then told me to give the service manager a call and talk with him. I did call the service manager in which the earliest they could see me was a week later. When I arrived at the service department I added a few other issues that I was having issues with from the time I made the appointment to the acutal appointment day for them to look into. My biggest concern and the whole reason I called was the power train wrench lite coming on in which they diagnosed as low coolant and they tightened a hose clamp and filled the fluid up, I may be a female but I was not born yesterday. The other issue I was having was a low tire pressure warning lite in which they said I had a nail in my tire and they plugged it, great appreciate that. The following day my tire pressure lite was back on. My last concern was my driver side blindspot indicator stuck on and wanted them to check it out in which they said it was working fine. I was there for a little over 2 hrs and not a half hour into driving home my wrench lite (powertrain) lite came on again in which I immediately called the service department and was told he would talk with the service manager and call me right back. Didn't happen I had to call him back almost 2 hours of waiting and I had to remind him why I was calling only to be told that I have an extended warranty and there is nothing they can do for me but the service manager would call me the following day which was yesterday. No call and my email to my sales guy goes unanswered as well. Thank god I bought a Ford and not one of there brands as I would hate to take a vehicle back to them for service. read more

Once the pick was made, I received all the help with getting financed that I needed. They even beat the pre-approved rate I had received from my bank. I couldn't have been happier with the purchase. Pretty easy people to deal with. I was on my motorcycle when I came to close the deal, and the sales dept. provided a yard runner to follow me home then give me a lift back to retrieve my bike. Vehicle was reasonably priced, actually the best deal I found after researching other nearby dealerships who had the same pre-owned vehicle comparably equipped. No high pressure add-ons from the finance guy. The ONLY negative thought that comes to mind was that I asked twice on the phone before going out if there was any "wiggle room" on the price since it was replacing a just totaled vehicle with the insurance pay off. I was assured - twice - that there was, in fact, some negotiating room. I asked again upon arrival at the dealership before evening looking at the car and was assured by two different individuals that we could talk price. THEN, when I'm ready to sign the papers suddenly it was a: "firm, already lowered, 'below market value' price". My east coast temper kicked in at the (mild, but nevertheless) bait & switch tactic and I indicated my willingness to just leave & scrap the whole deal. The salesman hurried away to wherever they go to straighten out these things and came back with the news that I would (surprise!) be getting some off money after all. That savings paid for the tabs that will be due in a couple of months. That little scenario is the only reason I'm not giving them a higher rating. read more

I want to share my experience with everybody that I know regarding the service that I received last Friday 2/10/2017. where I went to change the oil on my car and then I asked the staff to rotate the tires for me and they told me it costs just $24.99,I accepted this cost . after a while the service staff member came to me and told that two wheel Studs were breaking by the service staff during the rotation process, and you have to pay $70 extra to change the broken studs or you will drive your car with a front wheel that has only three wheel studs.!!!!! I told the staff there this is not fair, your staff who breaking the wheel studs, so why I have to pay for that???!!!!! I believe this is not fair treatment from a dealer to his customers, I will not deal with this dealer anymore, and I will tell my story to all friends and relatives about the bad way of treating customers. read more

I picked one and he just says, "see ya then". I had to ask him if he cares to know what is like to have done? "Oh, sure" was his response. I told him the specific recall I needed handled and asked how long It would take. He said only 45 minutes. When I arrived this morning for my appointment, I was told they were not instructed to fix that recall yet by the manufacturer. I asked why I was not told this when I specifically called out what I needed done while I was making the appointment a week earlier? The response I got was, "it's not a total loss, we can do some different recalls while your here, it should only take 2 hours." So it went from taking off of work for a 45 appointment, to over 2 hours now. Nope! With all the other dealers looking for customers I find it extremely confusing how one can act like this. The place is run down, customer service has always been below average in my book, no loaner cars available and now this is how I get treated?! No way in HELL I'll ever go back or even recommend anyone to do so, terrible customer service from a trash dealer!! read more

I have never had worse customer service in my life. It doesn't take much time at all to let your customers know that you value their business. This is the opposite of what I got from Barnet when I took my Kia in for some warranty work. They repeatedly told me how much time they didn't have and what they could not do. My car has randomly not been starting, it didn't seem like a battery issue but I asked if they could test the battery just to see. The response I got to this request was that no they could not do that because they simply did not have time before they closed to get a battery test done. There was still two hours before service closed and a battery test takes 10 minutes. I am generally very polite to people I deal with on a day to day basis but after them having told me repeatedly what they cannot help me with unless I make another appointment, I got a bit sassy and said "you don't have 10 minutes? 10 minutes is all it takes to test a battery" to this I got a surprised look like they didn't expect a girl to know anything about testing a battery and they agreed they would sneak the battery test in. I have called back a couple times to get details on what they said happened all that day and they have been exceedingly rude each time. The receptionist that I paid was very polite, I wanted to tell her thank you for being so nice, as she was the only nice person I have encountered while I was there. I am in the market for a new car soon and LOVE my Kia. However I will not be shopping at Barnett and I will let everyone I know to also not waste their time. A nice seminar on the value of the customer experience would go a long way with the employees at Barnett. read more
