Not easy to get to, parking is a challenge, and the beer selection will make you feel like a guinea pig because they offer an eclectic set of beers on tap that you've likely never heard of, and I hear they always change so what you get one day isn't what you'll come back to the next time. The only reason that they are getting two stars from us is that they are within walking distance of my house. My husband and I went in there on Friday night. We ordered a cheese platter and two glasses of wine. The waitress came back, and suggested another kind of wine which we later found out was $35 a glass! Talk about upselling! We ate the bread faster than all of the cheese, so we asked our server for a few more pieces of bread and a couple more nuts to finish off all of the cheese that was left on our platter. When we got our bill we had been charged for an entire second cheese plate! For 5 pieces of bread and 10 nuts?! We will never be back. read more

I went there with a friend for an early dinner/happy hour. The wine was wonderful and the service was good. We enjoyed the food. BUT the owner (old guy) told us we had to leave because the table was saved for his birthday party at a certain time, even though we were seated there by staff. Apparently, we didn't drink our wine fast enough. He was really rude! That is no excuse to act that way to a customer. A few months later, we gave it another try (this week). Again, wonderful wine and the new taco menu was delicious. The server was personable and very attentive. Again, we saw the owner. We were outside at first and before ordering, we realized it was going to be too cold. There was hardly anyone there. We grabbed a different table, and he made some snide comment about us moving, as if it was against the law. We hadn't touched the napkins or caused the table to be re-set. The owner's attitude is the reason we are not going back. He is a grumpy old man and rude. Went to Barnoa yesterday for a glass of wine with my husband, went to a friends house close by to the wine bar, later that night we all went back to Barnoa and ordered the steak and cheesecake for dessert. OMG it is so good. The vibe and the staff are insanely awesome. The main manager (forgot her name :/) is part of the reason our first experience was top notch!!!!!!! My boyfriend and I stopped for a spontaneous visit when we heard about the new ownership. What a pleasant surprise! Our waitress was Pamela, and we met the owner, Mike. Although we had already eaten, we knew we would be back for dinner very soon as the plates that passed us for service looked amazing. Great little local place. It's active late in the evening as well and stays open till midnight. There food items seem good tasting. We have the lamb Shank. Good flavor! We had the Foley Johnson Chardonnay and it was very good. There are Chardonnay prices per glass or 12 14 and 18 but their bottle prices are more reasonable starting at about $36 as I recall. They also had live music which wasn't bad. We will go back for sure and hopefully they will be having other types of music as well. read more

Love this wine bar. The owners and staff are very welcoming. They built me a custom flight based on my likes. I was able to sample French and California wines. The wife and I went just after noon opening on Saturday, had a little trouble finding it (it was our first visit). Find the 831 Via Suerta building, then you'll see it. It was empty except for one other couple that came and went, but that's the way we prefer it, we get along well. We ordered five glasses total over a couple of hours, and tried about four more, they were all good or excellent. There is a wide selection from CA, France and elsewhere; they are sure to have something you like. The most interesting might be a faux-Sauternes, which we tasted then bought a bottle for $28. It wasn't quite as amazing as full-on Sauternes but if you've paid $60 and up you will appreciate an alternative sometimes. We chatted with Alex, one of the owners, and traded wine stories. For food we had the cheese/charcuterie plate, which came with plenty of bread (so rare!), honey, fig spread, and a wonderful mustard with some bite. Later we had the cheesecake, which was good even the next day. Prices per glass were fair but not a bargain, but then we missed happy hour deals. Word is it can get rowdy (for a wine bar) later, if that's your thing go late Friday or Saturday be ready for some noise. In any case it's a very nice place where you can try some different wines, learn a little, meet some nice people, and have some great food. Wow! Stopped off here for a late afternoon glass of wine. Couldn't have made a better choice. I had a fresh crisp French white. The owner is French. I described what I liked in a white wine and he made a perfect selection by the glass. Then we got a cheese plate. Kevin took our reservation for my birthday and upon noting that I ate gluten free, arranged so my friends and I could eat gluten free flatbreads and also baked a flourless chocolate cake.
