I never trust these reviews, assume they are written by marketing people, and have never felt compelled to review anything else in my life...but, these folks are just the absolute best! 20+ years ago I was sick with strep throat. Since I couldn't go to work, I thought I'd at least take my car in to get new tires so the day wasn't a complete wash. I left my car and Sam Barnsley drove me home and I went to bed. A half hour later he called me and asked if I had intended to leave my dog in the back seat of the car. He brought the dog home and I've been doing business with them every since. The service is above and beyond the call of duty and I trust them completely. Barnsley was recommended to me by another shop in town when their schedule was full. I brought my truck in for alignment and wheel balancing, and expected to pay for both. When it was ready they said that it didn't need balancing, and that the alignment was done. They could have easily charged me for both, but didn't. For years I've driven by this little tire shop in Boulder. About a year ago, on the recommendation of the owner of a local 4x4 shop, I went into Barnsley for an alignment on my lifted Jeep Rubicon with 35s. No other shop was able to get a good alignment and make it stick. Barnsley did it in 20 minutes and it was DIRT cheap. Today I dropped in, without an appointment mind you, because the Jeep was pulling left and the steering wheel was vibrating. I was fortunate enough that Sam Barnsley himself helped me. He took the jeep out on his "test track" (Spruce street) and beat the heck out of it, found a problem with my directional tires, rotated them (which fixed the problem), re-checked the alignment he did almost a year ago, and re-tested the Jeep. Total cost: zero. They spent 40 minutes or so working on my Jeep and they fixed it for free. Name me someplace else that does that? I actually had the audacity to argue with them in the store to charge me money. "Take my money, please! You spend over half an hour working on it." Nope. Wasn't happening. So the least I could do was take a few moments and sing their praises on Yelp. Best. Darn. Place. For. Tires. And. Alignment. Period. read more

In cadence with a repair done at another service center, I had my car aligned at Barnsley--albeit unsuccessfully so. They made two attempts, but on both attempts aligned it for the incorrect model of my car (the non-sport versus sport version). When I brought my car back the second time they swapped the right/left front tires in attempt to correct the problem. The tires were removed from the wheels (a kudo to them for acknowledging their directionality), however the wheels were damaged in the process. When I spoke with Sam about the alignment problem, he offered to refund my money so I could take it to, in his words, "a specialist ." GIven I have had a successful alignment by another service center, I was grateful for his offer (despite his condescending manner). Sam's attitude was not about learning anything new, but instead he seemed to perceive me as an inconvenience, as if I would be only a one-time customer, because I lived 30 miles away. When I mentioned the damage to the wheels (which were brand new and carefully handled by the facility who performed the initial tire mounting), he became passive aggressive and even more condescending as he adopted a holier than thou attitude. Sam said to me he "could see where this was going," and said he would pay for the repair/refinish of the wheels in order to "close the chapter." I asked him if he would like to see the wheels and the damage that was done, but he refused, and maintained his pretentiousness throughout the rest of the "interaction." --The word conversation does not apply here, if "to converse" means to keep company among equals, or companions (literally).-- Sam denied the possibility that the wheels were damaged at his facility, boasting their "no-touch" technology. By repeatedly stating the damage to the wheels had to have been done at the service center where the tires were originally mounted, he implied I was unaware of the condition of the wheels. Acknowledging I could be seen as a bit overboard with respect to car care and maintenance, I was not interested in boasting my persnicketiness and in challenging Sam, but hoped we could have come to an agreement. I would have been willing to drive from Denver to Boulder for him to inspect the damage to the wheels, and together consider how old or new the damage could have been. Sam had the opportunity to learn something about himself and the imperfections he is capable of in his service to others. That he hid behind his pretentious, dismissive, holier than thou attitude and took the easy road out by using money as his "power tool" spoke volumes about his personality and his inability to take authentic responsibility for his potential to err. Sam could have seen the damage to the wheels with his own eyes and ascertained the freshness of the damage, and the fact that it was only on the wheels he had worked with and not on those he did not touch. Too bad for Sam. Too bad for Barnsley Tire Co. I serve people from all over the world in my business, distances far greater than 30 miles--and am more than happy to travel to do business with others who provide quality service from locations beyond what many might consider impractical. Good service and good product are worth the extra effort to find. It is a shame Barnsley Tire Co fails in this regard. You would have been better off to meet me half way, Sam, to take the time to look at the wheels, to come to an agreement about how to proceed. You took the money route, Sam, and you lost. read more

I went in to Barnsley today to get a leaking tire checked. They took my keys right away and about 20 minutes later had the cuplrit removed and the tired patched, free of charge. I used to buy new tires from Barnsley and really like their service for years. This time I didn't buy the tires from them because the car got a flat tire when traveling back to Boulder. I called Barnsley before but they could not get the new tires and appointment sooner. So I had to replace all tires first then called Barnsley for the alignment service. With the past experiences from being a Barnsley customer, I really trust them because I have to take a long drive back to east coast again. They were able to get me in at 8am in a couple days. Turned out that the alignments were in good positions. Even it took about 40 mins to wait for the service, they did not charge me at all. Yes I paid nothing. I am not writing this review and giving them 5 stars because it is free. I really appreciate Barnsley for being sincere and trustworthy for their customer first. I used this company to sell my 1998 Toyota Tacoma with a rebuilt engine and all kinds of upgrades and they just didn't do what was necessary to sell it. They sell tires and also have a used car lot. After paying this guy $500 to sell it, they had it on the lot for 4 months and only had 2 offers not even close to a fair asking price. I chose them because of being on a very visible intersection at Pearl and Folsom Streets in Boulder. I never got any money back after picking up the truck being totally dissatisfied with the service. Well, today I had a slow leak in my right rear tire. It was a Saturday and they were to close at 12:00 noon. I arrived at about 11:45 and they said they could fit me in. I took my car in in April, 2014 to have an alignment done and discovered that a tire mount had clearly been bent from hitting a curb. They said they could buy a used one for $80 and get it installed. It was some weeks later before I was able to proceed with that plan, but the guy who looked at it the second time thought they could hammer the damage out and move that wheel to the rear. It was fixed just a couple of hours later that day-- with a smile and "no charge". I couldn't believe it! They have certainly bought my loyalty-- I can't imagine going any place else now. So long as I live or work in or near Boulder, I see no reason to get tires anywhere else. They do great work, and the service is excellent. In the past, I bought 4 new tires for my car, only to have them wear out far sooner than they should have. Got new tires from Barnsley, who sent the old ones back to the mfr. to see if we could get any kind of warranty refund from them. I drove on those new tires for several MONTHS before we heard back, and Barnsley didn't ask me to pay a dime until then. Seriously! They're always up front and accurate about how long it will take them - don't be surprised if there's a wait; they're often very busy (especially when there are lots of people changing to/from snow tires), and I usually just plan to drop off my car in the morning, go to work or wherever, and come back for it in the afternoon. read more

If you are thinking about going here, absolutely, positively, 100% DO IT!! No need to do any more research, this is the place to go! I have been to Barnsley Tire Co. twice now, and I have had an amazing experience both times. First of all, I was greeted the instant that I walked in the waiting area with a warm smile. I felt totally welcome and acknowledged. Then, I told them that I didn't want to spend a lot on tires because I am planning to sell this car. They moved my back tires to the front and gave me a pair of used tires with plenty of tread on the back. It was about $45 total for everything!! And when I got in my car, it felt like new with these tires and I have been driving all over the mountains with them. I also bought some awesome pickles by the front desk. Then, my second visit was a few days ago because I got a HUGE bolt stuck in one of my tires, and I needed them to get it out. They patched it all up, and it's like new. Guess how much they charged me, ZERO!!! Since I had purchased my tires there, it was a complimentary service. I just get a really loving, community oriented vibe from this place. If the community is taken care of and happy, then they in turn are happy. They are doing something very well, and I am so grateful. I wish that more businesses were this way. Very honest mechanics! My truck had a leaking tire, I took it into Discount Tire first and they told me that it is leaking through the cracks, and that the leaking tire and its partner in the back will both need to replaced - $300. I was suspicious so I took my truck to Barnsley Tire, and they actually examined the leak, then they told me that it had a nail in it so they patched it - $16. That's quite a savings! :-) I would definitely recommend these guys; they are very good at what they do (I've had alignment and wheel balancing work done here as well, all with great results) read more

These guys are so amazing. I had a flat in a very difficult wheel size and they looked all over the country to find me 4 new, really good snow tires. After four months one of my wheels popped again and they AGAIN had to search high and low for the right size tire. Totally blew out my rear passenger-side tire on a front -wheel drive car, didn't want to have to replace all the tires. Friendly service, got me in the morning I called, had a used tire that would work, did the work within half an hour while I waited, and charged way less than I expected this to cost. Just swung by because I picked up a screw in one of my tires. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous and estimate that it would take 45 minute to an hour to fix my tire. I walked to a nearby restaurant for lunch, and by the time I was back (35 minutes later). My car was ready to go. I could see the invoice and they had already written "No Charge" on it even though I told them that I bought my tires somewhere else. They asked me to consider buying my tires from them in the future, which I most certainly will. They also gave me the screw as a souvenir. Barnsley extended themselves beyond anything I could have imagined to help me out where Green Garage failed to make good. I know Barnsley Tire is highly praised for its prompt service if you need to change or repair tires, but you don't want to let them do the alignment. Our car was aligned in the wrong way at first time on Feb. We noticed the problem when we checked our previous alignment record at a dealer shop. I brought the car back to the store on Mar., and they did it again. Since then, our car started to slightly pull to the right. We have to hold the steering wheel carefully when we drive. To avoid ruining our new tires, we paid another $100 at a dealer shop to do alignment again, and then the problem is solved. read more

I chose Barnsley Tire because of their Yelp rating so decided I should "pay it forward" and also submit a review. First off, be it Amazon or Yelp, I always read two or three each of all reviews ranging from 1 to 5 stars. If I determine the 1 stars mostly feel written by people who are either naive, ignorant or expect way more than is realistic (often the case) then I'll take a chance and trust the positive reviews. That was the case with this shop. I had to wait 6 days to make an appointment. I was a little bummed about having to wait that long but they mentioned this time of year is busy with people getting ready for winter and getting their snow tires installed. No big deal since I wasn't in a hurry. I actually ordered my "closeout sale" tires online from Tire Rack and picked them up at their Denver distribution center to save on the shipping cost ($18/tire!). You can buy tires at Barnsley, obviously, but I preferred paying $400-something for 4 tires instead of $600-700 at a local shop. When I arrived, I just had to take about 30 seconds to fill out some paperwork (name, address, phone, etc.) and they said it would be about an hour so I decided to wait around (thankful that we now live in a world of smartphones and cell service to keep us entertained in waiting rooms :) It took about 50 minutes before they called my name to pick up my car. When I went outside, I noticed my old tires had been placed in white plastic bags and loaded back in my car, which is where my new ones had been stored when I arrived. I had forgotten to tell them to recycle my old ones. So I walked back inside, mentioned the oversight and no big deal... "just take them around back to the tire pile and leave them there." What "no recycle fee?" I asked and the guy just shook his head and said "just drop them off out back." So, I can't say if they normally charge a recycle fee like every other big tire shop (like Big O - i think usually $2 or $4 per tire or something) or they just waived the fee because they felt a mistake was made. Regardless, I was quite happy. My total bill was only $45. When I called my VW dealership, to initially get a price, they wanted $80. As far as I'm concerned, VW owes me free service for life for having committed fraud and lied about my TDI's "clean diesel" emissions levels... but I digress :) Anyhow, I had nothing but a great experience at Barnsley from my first foot in the door (even though they seemed quite busy when I arrived) to my pulling out of their parking lot. I can't speak for anybody who ever had a bad experience there but I'm relaying my very positive experience. Hope it helps. read more

After seeing promising reviews and having a friend that went there; I thought I'd try Barnsley Tires out. I needed new struts on my car and they were willing to do the install since i had the OEM parts already. While the office was friendly and the price was fair, a couple things stood out. First, I never received a call when the work was done. Maybe my phone didn't take a message, who knows. Second, I got home and found a rather deep dent and chipped off paint the size of a dime on the front quarter panel. (very close to where one would work to replace a strut). Being a car guy and anal about my car, I can say with certainty it was not there before I dropped it off. A sharp metal object of some kind hit it from the side. I am not impressed. At least if you had an accident, let me know and we can work it out. Barnsley mechanics should remember that some of us pay attention to our cars and the work performed. I won't be back in the future. read more
