Highly recommend this place! I loved the food and the service at this local bar! The special bmore club could honestly be one of the best sandwiches i have eaten. My kids got the wings and being from Buffalo my standards are high, but these were delicious and his homemade blue cheese was the best I have ever had! We were looking forward to going here and trying the food. We walked in at 6:30pm on a week night asking for a table. The bar was empty and we noticed some of the tables were full but I would not say they looked busy. I asked a server for a table for two. She did not greet us welcome us. Her reply was "You will not be able to even put in any order for any food for at least a half an hour." How rude and unprofessional. Basically she was telling us to get out. A decent server would have greeted us and explained some what was going on. Seems like they had 6-7 top table seated in the bar area but you can't make a cup of soup for someone because of one table? You can't even act courteous or polite? Seems like the manager wasn't there or somebody responsible in charge. They could have seated us gotten some menu and water and told us the kitchen might be a little backed up, but they basically sho'd us away. We went to MaGerks's and were eating soon after. It's a shame because Barracuda's looks like a nice place, but letting rude inexperienced high school kids running the front of the house is a bad look. read more

Updating my last review due to a recent terrible experience at Barracudas. Waited nearly an hour and 30 minutes for my meal. Literally watched people sit, order, eat, and pay during the time my table waited (there was only 3 of us). The waitress seemed surprised our food never made it out when I asked about it. Later another waitress came to apologize saying the kitchen was backed up. I find that hard to believe when I watched every other table with customers who came in after my get their food... Oh and when I finally did get my food. It was cold and stale. Very evident it had been sitting there for a long time. Oh yeah, and to echo what other posts have said, COVID protocols seem to be a joke to the staff. Bartenders and many staff don't wear masks and I rarely see them wipe anything down. This place is such a hidden gem and my new go-to restaurant/bar in Baltimore! All of the staff including the owner are super welcoming the second you walk through the door. They have the best crushes - all fresh fruit and no added sugar syrup and most importantly they don't skimp on the alcohol. My favorite is their special - the coastal. My favorite dish has been the imperial chicken - basically as much if not more crab meat than a crab cake on top of chicken with some bomb sauce. What a great local spot! A nice little hidden gem on Fort Ave will consistently surprise you! I come here whenever I am in town with my boyfriend and there is always a fun atmosphere. Better than your average bar menus. This particular time, I ordered the kalletes. These flash fried pieces of kale were drizzled with a sweet chili sauce and had prices of bacon mixed into to it. Such a tasty dish and it was nice and light. Ideal for when you want a healthier alternative to the normal friend bar food OR if you did not want an entire entree. The bar tenders are great. Make solid drinks and keep them coming pretty quickly. Before ya know it, you're 3 drinks and and they are still coming. I used to love this place. The owner, and staff are usually great. I know a lot of locally owned places are hurting with the current situation, but I won't be doing business here anymore. I ordered their Easter Special Dinner Family Style dinner for my family. I confirmed with the person over the phone if the meal was family style and would feed 2-4 people. I was told "yes." When I went to pick up my order, I had to remind them it was family style and should have come with a salad and dessert. I didn't realize until I got home how skimpy the portion was, and it definitely wasn't a meal for 2-4 people! I reached out and haven't heard anything back. Barracudas is one of Baltimore's best hidden gems! The kitschy mermaid on the exterior patio wall was one of the first things I noticed when driving on Fort Avenue for the first time. My immediate thought was, "That place looks fun". It's appearance was surely no fool's gold: this place rocks. If you are visiting on the weekend for a boozy brunch, you will groove to some island music while cheering on your favorite soccer team. No matter what time you visit, you'll be vibing. 9/10 times the owner, Billy, will come up and chat with you like old friends. Most importantly however, THE FOOD. Holy sh*t. I'm vegetarian and we came with our kids and some friends and I was told that meat couldn't be removed from a pasta recipe by our terrible server because "the chef is really particular." Apparently he's very particular about making pizza on a frozen flatbread that tastes like cardboard. When I sent the pizza back and replaced it with a salad, terrible server asked, "Do you think you're going to get out of paying for this?" Everyone else's orders were messed up and lacking in flavor. I'm from out of town visiting friends (after living in Baltimore previously), and they suggested Barracudas. Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks, although the kitchen was backed up and everything was priced about $5 higher than the quality warranted. Giving it 2 stars because we're still in a pandemic, and there were a dozen people (including the owner, I believe) clustered near the bar inside, singing, shouting, no one wearing masks. Social distancing is a joke. Few of the other employees I saw were wearing masks either, including the disengaged young woman who seated us. On top of that, the music was blasting so loud at times that it was hard to hold a conversation. Our server was attentive and did a great job dealing with the chaos. 4 stars for food/drinks, 3 stars for service, 1 for atmosphere, 0 for giving a damn about COVID protocols. read more

My friends and I stopped by Maryland hoping to grab a seafood meal before heading back to NY. We decided to stop by here and it took about 5-10minutes to get seated despite there because 12 of us. The Chef/owner of the place and our server were very welcoming, but unfortunately after they sat us down, that's when they told us they were basically out of everything. The owner of the restaurant is very rude and has poor customer service. My mom didn't like the quality of her soup and asked politely about the texture. The bartender was so kind and offered to take it back. Then comes the owner, who says "we make it from scratch and this is how my grandmother made her soup. So if you don't like it I don't know what to tell you." His demeanor and tone was very aggressive. This was our first time coming here and we will not come again. The food is so bland that they have to ask you if you'd like seasoning. Why wouldn't enough flavor already be in the food? I'd recommended working on recipes and navigating polite ways to talk to customers. read more

4/8/21- Update- They did end up correcting the charge issue a few days later so updating my rating. Food and service at the bar were good although food could have been warmer. 4/6/21- While the food and service weren't bad at the bar, I had a negative experience with the customer service later on, and won't be returning. I added a 20% tip to my bill, and included the $ amount on the Tip line and Total line very clearly. However, when it posted to my card, the total was more than what I had signed for on the check. I called the bar to get it corrected and was basically told that there wasn't much they could do in terms of refunding me the difference and could maybe comp me the amount next time I visited. Honestly got a hint of attitude that I was even disputing the difference. I'm not sure how comping me the difference would work even if I did go back since I doubt they would remember me or the issue. Regardless, they essentially overcharged me which I am not even clear on how that was possible (its difficult to mistake a 5 for a 7). Worse was the minimal effort made to correct the situation. Quite an unpleasant experience. Gave 2 stars since the food was actually decent (albeit slightly cold). read more

We started off with cream of crab and the lobster bisque and didn't think it'd get any better. We live around the corner from here and has always had great service and food. Unfortunately, we recently visited on a Saturday night (around 5:15) and were really disappointed. Once we were seated, our waiter came along to take our order. He was definitely not very attentive as I had asked to sub out my chips for fries and yet my order came with chips. He did get me an order of fries after, but the meal was average if that. The fries that came with the other meals we got were cold and the tiniest bits. Our server rarer followed up with our table, and our water cups were often left empty. Once we asked for the bill, he dropped it off and he never came back for it. Another server noticed and ran our card for us. Definitely disappointing since we used to love this place and suggest it to others. We are hesitant to go or recommend it now. read more

Driven by this place a hundred times but never had a bite there. Stumbled here last night and had an awesome time. The wait staff was friendly and top notch competent. Going in I didn't know what to expect. Enjoyed the friendly vibe of neighboring tables and turf porch. Prices were a little more than I was expecting for a dive feel. But then I got my meal and it was well worth the price. My buddy got the wings which were great, and I got the shrimp salad sandwich. The severs were not especially friendly, warming, nor helpful. The ambience equally lacked warmth. Came here for a quick casual dinner without any expectations, but was very pleasantly surprised as the food started to come. We were able to get a seat pretty easily around 8:45 on a Saturday, but that might have been since so many people were at the O's game that night. Our waitress informed us of their nightly specials, which all sounded nice and we eventually settled on the roasted corn and crab bruschetta. The bruschetta came promptly with four pieces of baguette piled high with roasted corn, tomato, cilantro and a healthy portion of lump crab - very good. For entrees we decided to share the Key West salad and the jerk chicken pasta. The Key West salad was a spring mix of leafy greens with avocado, tomato, and onion in lemon vinaigrette. On top of the salad were skewered grilled shrimp marinated in a cilantro jerk type paste, it's an understatement to say the shrimp were delicious. My wife and I agree we could have had a platter of just the grilled shrimp as our entrée. The other components of the salad were fine and fresh, but an element of crunch could have elevated the salad as a whole. The jerk pasta was a massive portion of bowtie pasta, jerk chicken, and other aromatics in a spicy (not overly spicy) cream sauce. The pasta was also very tasty and the pieces of cubed pineapple were really a nice touch with the spicy cream sauce. Again, the portion was massive, so we had plenty to take home as well. Furthermore drinks here were also really good, especially the blueberry lemon crush - very fresh tasting and nicely prepared. Service could have been a bit more attentive, but that it just nitpicking. Also parking is easy between street parking and the parking lot literally across the street. Lastly the prices were very good and the overall restaurant feel was great - true Baltimore. read more

Another great night out here. Started with the crab dip and it was really good. I like the touch of basil. As my entree I got one of their specials, the Guinness Mussels, and they were really really good. There wasn't a strong taste of Guinness so if you don't like the beer I wouldn't worry. The amount of mussels I got was generous and the taste was nice and spicy. I almost wish they would serve these all the time or more frequently because they were that good. (Please barracudas?!) My boyfriend got the Hells Kitchen sandwich and it was huge and delicious. Everything a sandwich with corned beef, fries, cole slaw and Dijon would be. Yes, fries come on the sandwich. Dear Barracudas' waitstaff, I 100% apologize for my family last time we visited. -Rick Okay.. now that that's done: My NY family needed to be picked up in Baltimore after their spring break cruise. My short visit with them consisted of picking them up, driving them across the street for church, then going out to lunch. While in church (yeah yeah..) I yelped restaurants nearby and Barracudas looked very promising. Barracuda's immediately came off with that mom-and-pop feel to it. Our group of 6 showed up at noon on a Sunday and there weren't many big tables on the first floor. We went upstairs and got our table, sharing the room with a party of ~20 (post baptism - same church). The owner (I'm assuming - just a vibe) sat us and was very polite. Even dealt with my mom's "You guys don't just serve fish here do you?! Being 'barracudas' and all?'" well. The menus were clearly day-to-day as it was a handwritten photocopy. The portions were HUGE. We got a mix from chicken and waffles, to the shrimp and crab omelette. My mom also special requested a BLT (thanks, again). We also got a few of their vodka-strawberry drink things (house special). It was really good. I insisted my parents have one, and it definitely took a bit of their edge off. Thank you alcohol. All the food was great. There was a mix-up between our waitress and the kitchen apparently. We ordered a Po'Boy and got a Pizza.. She said it was a language mix-up between her and the kitchen, but the ticket said pizza, so not sure how that happened. They fixed it, of course, but by the time the meal came out, everyone else was pretty much done eating and we took that meal to-go. Pricing seemed high at first, but after we saw how big the meals were, the price was definitely fair. Everyone was super nice and I'll definitely go back if I'm around Locust Point again. read more
