if you want a charcoal burger on a bun this is the place to go. My family went there tonight for dinner and got me a burger to bring home. definitely the worst burger I have ever had tasted burnt took two bites out of it and just threw it away. Heard good thinks about this place from other people and we tried it. In all my years I have never sent something back I just didnt do that it I was there at the barrel and ale I would have definitely said something. well this is why im posting this. beware place is definitely not cheap. will never go there again and when everyone asked how I liked it I'll show them the proof. read more

Nice place. However, they seem to allow the bartenders to choose the music, based on their own personal preferences. If I go in on the wrong day, it's pretty typical to be subjected to awful pop country music. I recommend you either add a jukebox, or just play something that more people won't be offended by. The music is brutal and that is absolutely a reason that will keep me away. There are older couples trying to eat here, and the last song repeatedly used the words, as the chorus, at very high volume, "you f*cking son of a bitch." This is not your house. Play music that enhances the experience of a broad selection of your intended customers, or risk alienating people. I gave my mom a gift card from this place on Mother's Day. Eh. Went for brunch and the fact that they didn't update their hours to reflect those hours was confusing. The coffee flight was awesome but I cannot believe I paid 17 dollars for an omelet with marinara, mozzarella sticks and melted cheese on top with regular white toast that had some type of oil brushed on it along with a hashbrown patty that looked like the type you'd find in the frozen food section. To be fair, the omelet was good, but for the amount of money I paid I thought the quality would have been there. Maybe some sourdough toast, real butter or at least margarine, better potatoes, something a little more inventive than mozzarella sticks and sauce. I would have happily paid 10 dollars for that. Service was very friendly and overall we did enjoy ourselves. read more

Waitress was Great, even though she was extremely busy she attended for our needs and answered all questions with a smile. Grilled cheese short rib sandwich was Great. The Pork Schnitzel sandwich was good. The calamari was not good. The potato chips were home made and very good. The fries you have to pay extra for in place of the homemade chips. The fries were hand cut fries. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. read more

I had been looking forward to trying this place particularly for the pork schnitzel. The beer selection was poor in my opinion but I only drink IPAs. We started with wings which were really fatty and the medium sauce didn't have any heat to it. I would not order them again and they have other appetizers that sounded very good. For entrees, I ordered a spinach salad and my boyfriend had the pork schnitzel sandwich. The salad was just fine and the sandwich was awesome! I had a few bites since it was what I had intended to order. It came on a pretzel roll and had 2 big pieces of schnitzel on it. The sauerkraut and mustard added a great touch. Between the two of us we couldn't even finish it. I'd recommend checking it out but don't expect to be blown away by the beer selection. read more

Had dinner there last weekend with my wife. Very disappointed overall. I ordered chicken kiev. What I got was overcooked and looked like it came directly from the freezer section of the local grocery store. Why not fresh ingredients? They taught smoked meats, however my wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and what came out looked like it was also direct from the deli section of the nearby grocery store. Why if you smoked your own meats would you smother it with mediocre sauce? It looked exactly like Lloyd's prepackaged pork from the deli section of the grocery store. I ordered the soup of the day, chicken and rice. The rice had disintegrated so the soup was just a cloudy broth and there were two tiny pieces of chicken. My husband had the French onion soup and the flavor of the broth was nice. The problem was that they put a huge handful of seasoned croutons in before topping with the cheese so the croutons soaked up all the broth and changed the flavor of the soup but not in a good way. The NY strip was very good and the ribs were tasty too. The overall experience was fine and the place was very clean. Staff was friendly. read more

Heard good things but this meal did not make us want to return. Had the buffalo cauliflower and it was incredibly overcooked, almost so much that a question if they had been cooked earlier and reheated. I had French onion soup that was mediocre and a burger that was just ok. My friend had sauerbraten and reported it to be dry. Service was slow. I ordered a second beer when our food arrived but it came so late in the meal I ended up wasting much of it. read more

Not impressed. No entree was great, just mediocre. With a name like Barrel and Ale we assumed there would be more of a selection other than basic domestic beer. Service was friendly but forgetful and slowed once it got busy. Not sure why it was so busy. Will not be returning and would not recommend. read more

This was our first time to Barrel and Ale restaurant! Met my friend here as a halfway point place to eat!! As two women we were a bit reserved to go in as it looked more of just a bar from the outside. We were pleasantly surprised by the food and staff! Alyssa was a wonderful server and the food was delicious. My friend had a burger and I had the shrimp skewers The prices were very reasonable. My wife and I decided to give this place a try today knowing that it is under new ownership. We had s great time! The place was hopping and had a range of racing, Flyers and local sports on the TVs. Food was hot and delicious and beer was good. (Not a huge selection on tap, but more in bottles). Aaron waited on our table and was funny and attentive. Overpriced! The crab dip( for $13) had no crab in it. It was a fishy taste, so I assume it was a white fish. The burger was average at best, but not worth the $14. The only thing that was good was a mushroom bisque soup as an appetizer. The service was good and friendly. We won't be going back. read more

I was here tonight with my brother and dad, our experience was not great and we will not be back. When we got there it took us 10 minutes to get seated. It was empty. Our waitress was as friendly as an eel. Our drinks were messed up, completely wrong, but they weren't far off so we didn't say anything. Next, and I am not joking when I say this, it was one of the most overpriced menus I've ever seen. We started with a $10 pretzel, while it was large it was very obviously microwaved. I got a short rib grilled cheese, which actually wasn't awful and frankly the only saving grace of this two star review. The bill was absurd for the quality of service and food. I saw some good Yelp reviews and also read an article on the place and the owners, how the place came to be what it is today, and some history. When we went there we found some seats at the bar and we're greeted quickly and hooked up with beverages and menus. Then as chance would have it, we were sitting next to one of the owners, who confirmed the history and told us about his restaurants and bars in the area. I was happy to see German food on the menu, something that is not extremely common in the area. I had the German Sausage Trio on a recommendation from people at the bar. Let's just say that this was the best German meats dish I have had since being stationed in Germany 30 years ago! My beautiful wife had Wienerschnitzel, and it was also the real deal complete with red cabbage. Our drinks stayed tended and full, and the crowd had 1 thing in common; we all were enjoying good food, drink, and company. We even met the chef! This is a very well executed operation from top to bottom and we will be going there again soon! Keep up the good work! read more

Service was good but extremely Long wait for food. Once the food came it was overcooked and dried out. As far as beer menu there were beers on menu that weren't available. My son ordered apple juice. We tried this place last night and it started off bad right away. The place was not too busy so we were seated pretty quickly which was great. We sat there for 15 minutes being ignored by every waitress that walked past the table. It seemed they were busy setting up a table for a large party that arrived later. They were also busy on their phones and sitting at the bar eating. We decided to move to the bar and while the bartender was slightly more attentive, it still took another 15 minutes or so to order food. The food arrived quickly was very good. Since our post was deleted from their Facebook page, we came here to give our review. We ate here last night, the food was okay but our steaks were way overcooked and we were shocked to see only 1 waitress wearing a mask. Our waitress was not wearing a mask and consistently leaned over our table in our faces making us very uncomfortable. We will not go back to this establishment even after the pandemic is over. Obviously management thinks masks are optional for their staff. read more
