This was our neighborhood bar for the last year! I could add a 100 pictures to this review but this chopped cheese changed my life! Some of the best bar food and the absolutely best staff in Nashville. It is mostly a locals first place and a great place to meet people from the neighborhood. We will miss this place and team so much!

I will be going back just for the loaded hot fries. They were so good and the cocktails are great as well. Tons of seating inside, with some tables outside. They have a big bar as well. The service was great, and the food came quick. I will be back, this is a great local bar.

We went on a Christmas Friends Sip & Eat Adventure. Barrel Proof was our last stop. Great place for our last stop. Place was very busy. Love that they allow dogs. Service was quick and friendly even if it's busy. Follow me on Instagram - @thecannyadventurist for a deeper dive into my reviews.

Great atmosphere! The bartenders are all very knowledgeable and cool. There's a pool table, which can be hard to find in Nashville. There's a food menu with wings and tacos. Overall this is a cool spot to wet your whistle.

We were looking for a good cocktail spot while in Nashville, and this one came up on Yelp. Upon walking and getting to the place it looked very familiar. After going inside and talking to the bartender, we then realized that this is a sister location of the barrel proof in New Orleans. We were very excited to hear that because the one in New Orleans was amazing. Even though it was New Year's Eve, they were very attentive to us, and answered all of our questions. They still hadn't had their grand opening and we're just open for a little over a week. However, everybody was on top of their game, and they made some amazing cocktails. Prices were very reasonable for the level of cocktails that you are getting If you're in the neighborhood, make sure to pay a visit, you will not be disappointed

Great little bar in Germantown! My wife and I stopped in for a cocktail before a Nashville Sounds game. They are just outside the stadium and it is a great place to grab a drink before heading to the game. We visited during happy hour. There was a small crowd, but nothing crazy. The bartenders were all very friendly and helpful. Jackie took care of us, and he was great! My wife had a happy hour mini frozen margarita, which was very tasty. I opted for an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the best I've had. Oh, and it was just $7 during happy hour. As I watched Jackie make my cocktail I knew it was going to be good. These folks obviously care about their craft and it shows in their level of service and the quality of the drinks. Another couple sitting near us were also in for the first time and they commented on how great everything was. This will be a go-to spot for us whenever we attend a Sounds game or when we are just exploring Germantown.

Not a complete whiskey connoisseur but man do they have a selection... and the best part is there was not pretentiousness about it. The place is dum lit and has a good amount of bar seating with space to stand behind. Great atmosphere and cocktails for the whiskey lover and those who are dragged along. The bartender was able to make each of us something based on our preference just by telling the favors we wanted and liquor we prefer. Def give them a try

It's a fairly big place with a bar, couches, fireplace with a HUGE beautiful fire, cocktail tables, and cozy booths. Dark, candlelight, this place has a vibe! 5 stars for atmosphere for sure! The service was not great, unfortunately. It was just so slow, every step took FOREVER. We would have gotten dessert but the waitress never came back. I finally stood up, put my jacket on, and stood next to our table, as a hint that we were ready for the check. 3/5 stars for service. Now the food. Do you see those fries?? They are some of the most unique fries I've ever had. Crispy AND chewy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. Served with bernaise, these alone are worth coming back for! The burger fell flat IMO. My husband liked it better than I did, but it didn't have much flavor. Some might say it needed ketchup, but for me it was more than that. It was a case where it seemed to have all the right ingredients but didn't "pop". It comes out wrapped in paper which is a fun touch, but didn't seem that hot and also was a little soggy, which made me wonder how long it sat before they brought it. We wanted ketchup for the fries too, BTW, but the server never came back to check on us. My husband's NY sour was a little strange. We love different "takes" on classic cocktails, but this one just didn't work. The waitress seemed unsure as to whether they could make this drink, and maybe she was correct. 3.5 stars for cocktails/food. We will definitely come back. My hope is that the burger was just a one-time miss and that next time it will be perfect. We also want to try the smoked fish dip. Such a cool neighborhood spot!

Nashville's lounge revolution continues. We've gotten Nashville's take on Brooklyn, LA and Vegas…read more the back corner is very Miami Beach. When I walked in I, immediately, thought of Haven (RIP https://www.yelp.com/biz/haven-miami-beach-2). From the LED wall to the music to the drinks to the vibe... I didn't feel like I was in Nashville anymore. the back corner stands out and gives Middle Tennesseans something that's not readily available in this area. If you're in the mood for a little coastal cosmopolitanness (is that word? It's not a word), the back corner is about to be your new favorite place. The neighborhood gets things moving in the right direction. For as much as Germantown has (scenic streets, fancy high rises, coffee, good eats) it didn't have a nightlife destination. Putting one here makes a lot of sense. Building off the 5th & Taylor imprint, the back corner starts off fancy (but not pretentious) and builds to memorable. Upon entry, the first thing you notice is the LED wall and stage. With a changing display of electronic intoxication, you're drawn into a world far away from Lower Broad. If you can break your gaze away from the stage, you'll notice the upper and lower lounge seating. Intimate, cozy and a bit mysterious, the seating at the back corner lets you decide whether you want to be front & center or if you're rather sit back and take it all in. You can be as public or private as you'd like. If indoor seating isn't your thing, make your way outside to enjoy the fire pit and Germantown night sky. Just do us all a favor and refrain from smoking. Seeing cigarette butts along the patio or by (in??) the fire pit is not sexy and very off-brand. All the above said and noted, the back corner is not a huge space -- which is a plus and minus. It's a plus because it never becomes the cavernous mess of bass and desperation. The minus is crowds gonna crowd and with a lot of people, the space will be tight. I don't know how to fix that. I suppose a velvet rope and waitlist will keep crowds at bay but neither feels very Nashville. Hmm... Another minus (relating to the size) is that there's only one bar. One bar in a space this cool is a bit tight. I know the space behind the bar isn't huge but I would staff it with 3 bartenders at a time so as to keep up with the crowd. Because you're going to want to drink. A lot. The cocktail program at the back corner is a bit unusual for Nashville -- and very Miami. Expect rum, colors and a boozy punch. Actually, the menu could use a punch. Get on that, tbc. Re drink progression... start with the gimlet. It's pretty to look at and refreshing to drink. All the mixers, juices, etc. are made in house so you're getting quality fare. From there, hit the No. 4 and, then, the No. 2. If you're still upright, drink some water. Water? Who am I kidding? Cocktails! You're in Miami, [redacted]! Well, sorta. If you need some noshes, 5th & Taylor is serving up bites. Don't come here for dinner. Who eats food? Let the music and booze nourish your body. As perfect as the back corner is for DJ sets, live music (this *is* Nashville, after all) works as well. the back corner isn't the Downtown dance club people have wanted for a (looooong) while. But it is a welcome addition to the city's nightlife scene and, very possibly, you're new favorite place to go. Bienvenidos a Nashville.

Every dish felt thoughtfully put together, and a few really stood out. I've been on the hunt for more black sesame treats, and the raspberry sherbet with cremolata and salted black sesame seed butter was exactly what I was looking for--the most perfect, not-too-sweet dessert. Creative, balanced, and completely unforgettable. I'd go back just for that. The stracciatella on toast was another standout--simple but incredibly well executed. My second favorite dish was the lightly roasted snap pea with fennel, spring onion, and chili--fresh, vibrant, and packed with flavor. So good. The linguini and clams was decent, but didn't quite hit the same level as the other dishes. It leaned a bit too al dente for my taste, and the flavor felt a little on the bland side. The ambience is still nice, but we were seated so close to other tables it was a bit uncomfortable. The server was great (super sweet waitress) but the food was inconsistent. Even she seemed to be aware of this. Here's what we tried: Steak Tartare: 1/10 - Hated it. Worst steak tartare I've had. It tasted literally ONLY of capers and mustard. We couldn't even see the color of the meat. Even our waitress said it was so inconsistent and sometimes bad. Keep in mind they did comp this which was very nice of them. Whipped Ricotta: 9/10 - Okay this was AWESOME. The pita bread was soft, the ricotta was smooth and sweet, and all the toppings on it were just perfect pairings. Chefs kiss. White Bolognese: 5/10 - Pretty mid/bland. Just kind of tasted like pasta with Alfredo sauce and some meat. Eh. Truffle Fries: 5/10 - Standard fries. There is parmesan and truffle at the top but none on any of the middle or bottom fries, so you don't really want to keep eating them. Brussels: 8/10 - Lovely fry on these. They tasted very rich, but could've had more depth to them in my opinion. More crunch perhaps, or even a zingier sauce. Beef tenderloin: 7/10 - I mean it was good beef, but nothing special. The steak just kind of tasted like an average cut of beef. The au jus was good, though, along with the mashed potatoes. Chocolate cherry cake : 4/10 - They offered this to us for free for our anniversary, but I didn't love it. The chocolate flavor was super mild, and the cherry was kind of sickeningly artificial. Not for me. See what I mean now, by inconsistent?
