First time!
Raheem A.

Needing to catch up with a fellow friend/colleague, I suggested that we take a stroll to Barrio Downtown to grab a cup of Jane. Being that it was my first visit, initially I didn't realize that this cozy establishment is a coffee shop (I have worked in the downtown area for over 10 years). Upon entering we were warmly greeted by an enthusiastic barista ready to take our orders. Since it was my first visit, I inquired about the barista's personal favorite drinks. She suggested the Signature Churro and the Pumpkin Churro. Since it is officially the Fall season, I opted to try the Pumpkin Churro that was on the Fall menu. After taking one sip of my Pumpkin Churro, I realized that I made the right choice. It very much so tasted like a churro (which I love on occasion) with a slight hint of pumpkin flavor. Although I'm not in the downtown area often, I look forward to making a return visit to try the regular Churro Latte and one of their pastries (as recommended by my wife). Thank you Barrio Downtown!

My coworkers and I were in need of a little pick-me-up, so we stopped by for coffee and empanadas. Unfortunately, they were already sold out of most of the empanadas a little after 10am, with only the mushroom left. The chicken tinga is my favorite, so I was definitely disappointed they were out, so I'll have to come earlier next time! I ordered the churro latte with almond milk, and as always, it was delicious. The staff are consistently friendly and greet us right when we walk in, which makes the experience even better.

So happy I stopped into Barrio on my drive through Sacramento! Unfortunately, I was unable to try the food since we arrived 30 min to close and everything was sold out (that must mean it's really good!), but the coffee menu was extensive and staff were super friendly. I ordered a summer special, the purple daze (condensed milk, ube cold foam) and my mom ordered their signature churro latte, both iced. We both loved our drinks! My ube latte was so thick it was difficult to drink but once mixed up it was amazing! My mom usually only drinks black coffee but was so happy with her churro latte, it was sweet and cinnamony and went quick. If Barrio was closer to SF I'd be trying every drink on the menu! We were on a road trip so were hoping to use a restroom - staff were super helpful in recommending the apartment building next door, which were kind enough to accommodate. Highly recommend! Next time I'm in Sacramento I'll definitely stop by.

Can I just say this place is the best start and end to my work week!!!! You just cant go wrong with a coffee made by Dre!! She is the light at the beginning of my Monday and the start of my Friday! A true artist at work! The friendly faces behind the counter truly make everything about this little coffee shop feel like home! I highly recommend to everyone in the area stop in and give this place a try, from the pastries to the empanadas to the amazingly crafted coffees, you can never go wrong!

I love this place when I can catch them when they are open. The ladies are so sweet. I've tried the empanadas~Birria, Veggie, and Breakfast all so good. The samosas so good too! The drinks are yummy. I've had their Raspberry Mocha, Raspberry Matcha, Cherry Matcha, and Caramel Latte

Coffee was coffeeing! Customized Caramelita. Got me going! And the EMPANADAS ARE BACK! How good are they? Good enough to have me wait for their arrival. Don't judge me, but i ordered all three. They had mushroom cheese, breakfast, and samosa. They came with 4 different sauces on the side! Breakfast and lunch combo all in one. Glad they re-opened and I definitely will be back.

The only thing I tried from this place was a veggie egg empanada. It was so good especially with the chipotle dipping sauce!

AKA a drag queen walking around and serving a guava Spritz to individuals that were of age to drink and a little bit of trinket making if you wanted to do that. I will call out that if you have a large party it is difficult to find places to sit because there are not a lot of tables underneath the covered area. There's also two tables outside the fence but one of them does not have an umbrella so just being mindful of if it's a sunny day you're going to get hot. So I will be honest I came in a little skeptical about how the food was going to taste because a friend of mine had stated they had come to forgotten bakery about a year ago and he said that he was not very impressed with the food and drink options. I am happy to report that when we went everything was delicious with a capital D. The empanadas that we got: beef chilean, guava; were absolutely phenomenal. The crust of the empanada was perfectly golden brown, and the texture was firm enough where when you opened up the empanada that held its shape well and the feeling inside to not fall easily. Of all of them I would say my top pick in the topic of my husband was the Chilean empanada. We are a suckers for the combination of sweet and savory together and then having that buttery crust is brought everything together. Also the oat milk latte was yummy creaminess is the easiest way to describe it. It went down a little too easily which almost made me get another one but I am sensitive to caffeine and I told myself I'll just have to come back later and get another drink from them. Lastly it is definitely off the beaten path, but so worth the trip to check out this fabulous little place.

Forgotten Bakery makes one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had in the Sacramento area. I…read moreordered The BAE on an everything bagel and swapped the fried egg for scrambled. I think it makes the sandwich a lot less messy to eat. I also added the scallion cream cheese which was an extra $3 and definitely worth it. The only downside was the price. My sandwich came out to around $17 which feels pretty steep for breakfast. That said, it was delicious and I'd absolutely order it again. I also tried the pistachio cream cold brew latte. It wasn't bad, but it didn't leave much of an impression on me. I honestly don't remember much about the flavor so I'd probably skip it next time and stick with the sandwich. One tip: this place gets extremely busy, so I'd recommend ordering online ahead of time for pickup if you can. It'll save you a lot of waiting.

I've vowed in 2026 I was going to open myself up to trying new coffee shops as I'm historically just such a creature of habit and it's experiences like Old Soul that make that vow so great-I really enjoyed this place. As far as coffee goes, this is what we ordered.I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted-was kind of looking for something less sweet and minimal sugar,so went with just their plain cold brew($6.00).My daughter went with their Sea Salt and Honey Shaken Espresso drink.($6.75) My Cold Brew was good-though I will admit a little boring of an order when trying out a new place. My daughters drink though-WOWSERS!!!...It was so good-I was filled with instant regret that I didn't go more adventurous with my coffee order and I'd wished I had gotten that one instead-it was really great. In closing-I feel like I'm way late to the party but Old Soul is a really great coffee shop and it has skyrocketed up my coffee shop rankings in Sacramento and I truly can't wait to visit them again. They are doing great things out there-well done. PS-They are located on the corner of 34th and Broadway so parking is 100% street parking-but it's plentiful and really easy to find spots very close-so zero issues with parking here.

Good location too, but the tall white guy barista with glasses is disinterested at best and downright rude at worst. Interacted with him several times and there's never even a veneer of politeness. The last straw was when I told him something was wrong with my order and he just says "okay" then turns away. I didn't even want it remade I just wanted to make him aware, but like c'mon at least fake an apology? Don't work in the industry if you can't even manage to be halfway nice to people!! I'll continue to go to the Weatherstone location, everyone is always cool over there.

I would say the only thing I would like added is a confirmation the day before pickup letting me know the order was ready. But other than that the whole process was very smooth . The bakery itself is very cute and full of delicious looking treats. The staff was friendly as well. I ordered a carrot cake and it was so amazing! My sister loved it! It was very moist, spiced just right and had a lot of the cream cheese frosting that everyone loves! But it also wasn't extremely sweet which I appreciated. QUITE A FEW people at the party stated that they were not normally fans of carrot cake because of the big chunks of nuts and raisins in it...but RAVED about how they loved this carrot cake (it didn't have those things)! Got both the chocolate and the raisin walnut cinnamon. Prefer the raisin as the whole thing tasted less dry. Bd enjoyed the biscotti but next time I'll get him the one dipped in chocolate. The orange and raspberry cookie with the almond paste was lovely! Crumbly melty when you bite into it, nice texture and not too sweet. Pb chocolate chip was the most generic. Wouldn't get it again.
