This place makes the best pan dulce in Sacramento. They have been a staple for decades. I purchased flan, coconut macaroon, elote, puercito and churros. When I am in the area I must go here.

Deep in the heart of West Sac in a rundown strip mall is this bakery. Don't be fooled with its humble surroundings-Whats inside is what counts. There was a long line to get the bread. They had various people working the counter getting the bread. They were efficient and nice. We went crazy and got lots of bread for 2 people!! It smelled fresh bake in there and they told me that they are getting fresh bread all day throughout the day. Its so affordable and sugary good. From traditional conchas to orejas and even cajeta filled churros all at very low price. So worth it. :)

Their soft chocolatey and large take on the "hostess cupcake." One of my favorites!

Does La Esperanza need another review at this point? No. We all know it's great. Still, I must shout from the rooftops how much I love their pastries! The chocolate muffin in particular makes me feel like a happy little kid! And it gets chocolate all over my face and hands like a kid too! It costs $2.50 for one as of JUNE 2025. They also make a cheesecake slice, and a variation on the cheesecake slice that is half chocolate cake. That costs $4.50 I think. Thank you to the bakers at La Esperanza for such wonderful delicious treats!

Great food in large portions for a great price. It's a long wait, about 45 minutes but it's worth it. You just can't get this quality of food for these prices anymore. It's a gem. Be aware that parking is limited. $4 burritos here. Beto's is charging $10 for a bean cheese and $14 for meat. $3.99 here.

Asides from this one, this family business has other stores in Japan and India. My favorite is the sweet cream cheese even though Mahoroba is known for their Kobe cream, which are both stuffed with fillings. You can say that they don't skimp. It's hard to leave without purchasing a box of goodies even though they do run out super early, especially on the weekends. If you aren't big on sweets, they have savory items. The meatball pan is my favorite the meatballs just does really well with the bread. Not going to lie, but I used to work here when they first opened in 2009 and I would never get tired of eating the meatball pan or the green tea melon pan during my break. After all these years, I would have a craving from time to time so I always return and say hello to the owner. Besides, they make a lovely goodie box for a party and I always throw in a bag of dinner rolls because the quality of their bread is so soft and delicious. I'll be lucky if I still have 1/4 of the bag by the time I get home.

The cherry pastry was a stunner and delicious as well with great flavor and a nice balance of sweetness. My husband wanted the Estelle Noisette and although it was good, it was my least favorite of the three. It had pleasant nutty flavors but it was a little too rich for me. In the end, the real standout was the Blueberry Choux. The cream was light and fluffy and it had just the right amount of blueberry flavor. I really liked the texture of the pastry too and how it complimented the fluffy cream. I would definitely order that one again and highly recommend it. The pastries are definitely on the pricey side, but the quality and presentation justify the cost. The interior of the shop was nice and definitely reminded me of patisseries in France. There was plenty of seating available inside but I took my order to go. I'm really glad I finally got to give them a try and while not every item was a home run for me, the Blueberry Choux alone made the visit worthwhile. I will definitely be back to explore more of their offerings very soon.

This is your go-to place for desserts. The pastries are off the chart. They got everything you could possibly want. Whenever I walk in there and I see the pastries just waiting for me behind the glass It's like an edible amusement park. Now I've also had breakfast there. You can order pancakes and we often order the blueberry pancakes with eggs and bacon and their bacon is perfect, and the eggs are fluffy. It's a solid breakfast. Plus you know I'm not eating that without a pastry on the side. This service is incredible. Everyone is so helpful and even if there's a long line it moves fast. The waiters waitresses and bust people are on it. Dishes don't pile up on tables. I decided to go for the chicken and mushroom congee. (rice porridge.). I also got a green onion hotdog roll to take home with me. To drink, I had a green tea with lemon. The congee was amazing. A rich complex flavor. It had a little bit of ginger in it, you could definitely taste the ginger, but it did not overwhelm the rest of the porridge. The chicken was good, and for the mushroom, they used black mushrooms, which have a deeper flavor than regular mushrooms. So very good. It looked like a small bowl, but I couldn't finish it. Some came home with me, and it reheated very well. It also came with Chinese donuts to put in the porridge. Chinese donuts are a little bit different. The green tea was very good, and they didn't overdo it with the lemon, and that hotdog roll that I had later, the pastry was delicious with just a little bit of a "chew" to it, they were definitely high-quality hot dogs, and it wasn't just green onion. They had something mixed in, I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't taste raw like green onion can. Just a great lunch. I'll be back. Thanks.
