Looking forward to catching up with a friend, I found it ironic that she suggested Chloe Ca Phe & Roastery - considering that it was at the top of my Yelp bookmarks. Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted by a beautiful purple right-hand drive Nissan Skyline! I honestly don't know if this happened by chance or if my friend chose this particular coffee shop due to my love for cars. After I was done gawking at the Skyline, I approached the front counter where a friendly employee greeted me ready to take my order. Since the fall season was near (its already fall at the time that I'm drafting this review), I decided to go with the Sea Salt Latte - which was an option on the fall menu. Less than five minutes later our orders were ready. I found it very personable that the employee made pleasant eye contact and said "enjoy your coffee Raheem" as he handed it to me. While I sipped on my delicious latte and caught up with my friend, the nostalgic sounds of 90's and early 2000's R&B played in the background. I had an iced latte, it was really good, I like my lattes with nothing fancy, I don't add sugar or flavors, but here's the thing, you can taste the coffee and it is properly balanced with the milk. No harsh bitterness coming off the espresso and doesn't feel under extracted either. You can tell they care about the process and the product. Personal downside, they don't do decaf, so if you ride the decaf line as I do, you'll need to ride the caffeinated train for the day. I got a cinnamon roll for later but just had to try it now. Outside is dense, not your soft gooey kind, but that doesn't mean it's not soft on the inside. It is soft and still has some chew. It is sweet without being overly done and has a hint of bakery tang. The icing looks hard, but it will not crack and fall off when you bite into it. This place could easily be a trending LA scene coffee shop but it's situated in the perfect spot. Don't let the "alley" access stop you for a second. Parking seems scant here, I walked from nearby hotel so if you're here by car, park yourself and walk your ass here. This vibe is so great, the coffee (all I can vouch for) will keep you here.

It's not gaudy at all - just a smooth vibe. The food here is also of high quality. The pastries in the front case look beautiful and also have a rich flavor profile. It is 100% owned and governed by coffee farmers from Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico, and Ethiopia, so you are basically supporting the farmers directly when you buy their coffee. I really like this concept! The coffee is smooth, rich, and not too bitter. Their cappuccino is creamy with a nice roasted coffee flavor. I also like the Honeybear Cold Brew: smooth, slightly sweet and refreshing. The Mexican Mocha is another good choice if you like chocolate with your coffee. The coffee shop is spacious with high ceilings, good natural light, brick walls, and an industrial style with metal tables and stools. There are communal tables, board games, and an area that can be rented for groups. It is also right by the Saturday farmers market, so it is a very convenient coffee stop after walking around the market. Definitely recommend checking this place out!
