We went by today for a lunch and it was delish!!! The menu is spacious. Lots and lots of breakfast and lunch options but I will say it's a bit expensive. Perhaps it's due to inflation but 70$ for a couple sandwiches and a milkshake seems high but speaking of, it IS good! We got the patty melt with fried chicken on the inside, and onion rings, a Dr Pepper with a chocolate shake! My friend got the Chicken Pesto Sandwich with their garlic fries and their ranch (which was home made I tried it. YUM) the food was juicy and the milkshake was creamy with real ice cream. Absolutely delish!!!! The service was great per usual! Our server I've had before who is hilarious, SUPER good at serving I swear can triple task. Plus he was good at bringing me Dr Pepper and gave me one to go. Extra points for that!!!! If there's one thing I loooove it's my drinks and the faster I get them fresh the happier I personally am!!! The ambiance is very casual and usually packed to the bone!! The residents of the area are all friendly, the girls working behind the bar are sweethearts it's decorated with country style everything! Delightful warm welcome from Bonnie and her daughter during my first visit to this quaint little rooster themed restaurant. I opted for the Senior breakfast meal. It was properly served..... the egg medium rare, bacon crisp without being brittle or burned, and the French Toast had a nice egg batter, the right amount of cinnamon (for me) with soft butter, syrup and dusting of powdered sugar. Came here for a late lunch as the fam and I could tell immediately that the staff were so so sweet and friendly. The interior is super chill and clean as well. Honestly the food tasted mid but I love the generous portion sizes. My hash browns came overcooked but it was still edible. I'd say the star of the show were the fries and the funnel cake waffles. Papa's new roost is open Monday and Tuesday nights for dinner, I am a regular for breakfast the food is outstanding. The dinner there was a choice between Salmon or Prim rib. We had the Salmon it was delicious the Brussels sprouts were so good and I loved the French onion soup omg I could have eaten bowls of the soup. Drew and his wife who are the owners are very sweet and at times their kids help and they are very attentive. What a great way to teach their kids about life. read more

On the road enjoying the mountains and ran across this place. You know I am a fan of the Mom and Pop type of business or the small businesses. The food at this place is truly home grown. Portions are plentiful delicious and made to order served hot. We were here for breakfast but the menu looked good for all three meals. The service "Bonnie" was absolutely wonderful and the daughter of the owner although young was simply wonderful. The vibe of the place was an old farm kitchen type atmosphere. This is a place that knew the regulars by name and new comers were treated with respect and a sense of "your a new friend". We will definitely be returning to this cool place. Super friendly service! They did only have 2 servers and it was busy but they still managed to make us feel well taken care of. The food is excellent. They have the basic breakfast foods. The pancakes are so fluffy! The decor is super cute with the rooster them throughout. It's a great place to stop and get a hardy breakfast. This has got to be the cutest cafe in town! I loved all the decoration, inside and outside. It has a homey welcoming feel to it. Speaking of, the staff here is amazing. Shout out to the two little girls taking everyone's order, including ours. This made our day. They were so sweet and deserve a raise. The food took a while to come out on a busy Sunday morning, but it was worth the wait. I enjoyed the fluffy pancakes and tasty sausage. Probably some of the best breakfast sausage I've ever had. As the name suggests, this is a cute little Mom and Pop. There is a lot of good stuff on the menu and they have a lot of different prime rib options (prime rib omelette, prime rib scramble, prime rib sandwiches, prime rib, etc.). My husband and I both got the chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns, it was decent, but they were very busy and it kind of felt a little rushed. The highlight of my meal was the homemade biscuit! I would go back just for one of those babies! My children got a Jr. breakfast and a cheeseburger and fries. The service was good, and all the signs and rooster decor were cute. They had a sign by the bathroom that said "Fluff Butt Hut" that we got a good kick out of. read more

Our family of (4), two kids ages five and twelve arrived around 1130. First time visit, had been hearing great things and wanted to support local business (on Valentine's Day). We walked into the restaurant where there were maybe (4-5) tables being used. "Sit wherever you want!".....I find that to be very strange, putting the responsibility and choice on the customer. I'm imagining they're thinking something along the lines of choice being a positive thing....it's not. Stop. It's uncomfortable and a poor greeting too. After oddly looking around for a seat, we sat ourselves in a corner booth nearest the fridge. As we wait, I overhear the servers divide who's taking which table...another reason why it's very poor practice. Drinks were prompt by the "busser" gentleman, server was loose, took a knee on the dirty floor to get to eye level. Another, ummmm, uncomfortable and not "professional" look. We get the rationale. Stop. Read the room/table first. Server had dropped a straw for my water, immediately got a new one but left the old one on the floor the entire time. I picked it up off the floor toward the end of our meal. Additionally, In the corner of my eye, I also noticed a metal fork under a lady's table the entire time (even before they were seated). My daughter (12) pointed out others got their meal before us, but I explained our order may be a little more time consuming to put together so all good. The meal arrives, after waiting what seemed to be a lengthy amount of time...We ordered the recommended favorites Henny Penny with the Funnel Cakes, Chicken Fried Steak with Home Fries, Eggs Benedict with Hash Browns, (2) coffees, and orange juice....$87 out the door including a $14 tip, taxes, meal cost and $2 charge for using credit card via the provided app. $4/coffee. Eggs Benedict. One of the main components to a great Eggs Benedict is the runny or fudgy egg when you cut into it. Enough so you can stop it all up with English Muffin....right? The dish looked AMAZING, the ham perfectly browned, hollandaise sauce buttery/lemony seasoned well, alongside the most perfect looking hashed browns. I cut into the poached egg......hard yolk. Nearly green yolks. Depressing. I looked around for someone to make eye contact with me but nobody around. I was so hungry I just ate it. The taste was delicious but the mouthfeel was not there. Not fair. Equally as bad were the hash browns....rancid smelling and tasting. Smelled and tasted just like fish, spent oil. I'm talking I could not eat them. Each bite came with that rancid smell. Chicken Fried Steak with Home Fries. The chicken fried steak itself was crunchy in a great way, the country gravy was tasty, but underseasoned (nothing some salt couldn't fix), and it was a bit cold. Definitely not hot and nearly room temp. Again, great crunch and yummy gravy (underseasoned). The home fries were the worst. Undercooked, hard, raw potato.....and the thing is they looked incredible. My guess is they par cook them....if they don't, I recommend they do because the inside was not fork tender. It was like tasting a raw potato with a nice seasoned golden brown crust. It was hard to believe because they looked so good. Everyone at the table agreed who had a try. Not even 25% of the potatoes were eaten between the four of us. "Would you like a to go box for the potatoes and hash browns"? Ummmm, No thank you! Funnel Cakes Ok these were great, addictive, perfect exterior crunch with soft interior. Similar to a donut consistency (think old fashioned). The staff was friendly, in particular the lady that was working there that day. The gentleman server we had was friendly, pleasant, loose, acceptable. Unfortunately, I can not justify treating my family or myself here again. Hard to look past the raw potatoes, rancid hash browns, and (frankly pathetic) overcooked poached eggs. $87? Not fair. The "basics" and the "details" were missed. Don't take a knee while taking an order. Don't ask the customer to choose a table. The biggest problem was the food quality. read more

I really wanted to like this place, I heard good things, here is the scoop, sat at the counter, it took 20 minutes to get coffee, refills were hard to get, it took forever to get my order taken, I almost left a couple times and I should have, I ordered a chili cheese omelette, when I got my order the hash browns were way over cooked, I didn't eat them. The omelette looked great, but when I took a bite and it was cold. I asked for a to go box for the omelette, I left the hash browns, I got home and tried to eat the omelette after it was heated, it was just ok. When we went to order the guy with the pony tail stated that they were out of the glutten free bread as his wife hadn't gotten it as he had asked her to. 2 only cause the food actually is pretty good. Couldn't do 0 for someone that actually has good food. Been going to paps's since i was a wee little lad. I've seen the transition between old owner and new owner. Old owner had lots of happy staff waiting to serve you. Everything was fast good service and on time with the new owners I basically never see more than two people working. You don't feel the same love and they're just dressed like your average civilian on the street. Sometimes the people in their seem friendly other times they seem like they want nothing to do with working. I still go because like I stated earlier the food is good. However, today was the last straw. I go in for a nice lunch with my grandpa and I walk through the front door at 1:23 pm knowing they close at 2, I try to show up 20-30 minutes before closing as I have worked previously in the restaurant industry as well. I walked in. I was greeted. I asked for a table for 2 and was told to sit anywhere. Two waters were brought to me silverware and a menu. It was just me sitting in the booth waiting for my grandpa who should arrive within the next 10 minutes... the head waiter walked up to me after being seated and served and I was told "130 is the cut off time so if your other party will not be here in the next 5 to 7 minutes, we are going to have to not serve you.. then why the hell would you put your hours until 2 pm sounds like you close at 1:30. As stated previously, i try not to go into restaurants, knowing they are going to close soon however most if not all restaurants will serve you up until closing time. That is why it is closing time it's not called get out of here time. Whatever im salty now don't see myself going back. Will miss the food. It's been a while since I have been to the restaurant I ordered the French toast. The French toast was soggy bread not cooked all the way yuck When the waiter brought my change back I noticed that I had been short changed. So I took the tab and the change to the counter to talk to the waiter. I told him there is an error as I did not receive the correct change . He did not apologize, he just got an attitude and went to his tip jar and brought the change and slammed it down on the counter very rudely said and that is not the right change either, he then told me not to come back. A day later I called to talk to the owner. When I called and asked for the owner or the manager The lady said the owner is here. I started to tell him about the waiter and the rude attitude. He asked me if I was the guy with the change I replied yes I am . He said that was me called me a f$&@ing asshole and for me never come into his restaurant. This just showed me the short change was not an accident and he is not honest. I've been to this restaurant before the new owners took over. It's not the same as it once was. I ordered the chicken fried steak with eggs, one of my favorite dishes. Although I didn't say I wanted the country fried steak prime rib, just the country fried steak. She brought me the prime rib. Mind you I didn't realize it until I had cut into it while complaining to my husband why this thing was so fatty. It's suppose to be cube steak. It was all bad. I left most of it on my plate. What a great find! We love visiting the area and have tried many restaurants, but this is officially our new favorite for breakfast!! We came with a larger group and were seated in a very spacious back room that was perfect for our family. The menu is extensive and we appreciated the owner explaining different menu items. We also really appreciate how much is made in house, fresh, especially the corn beef hash which is delicious! The funnel cake waffles definitely live up to the hype, as do the pancakes, chicken fried steak and other items: everything was delicious and on point. Prime hours for breakfast serving we were able to walk in and get seated on the Monday morning holiday 2/17. The server was very friendly and welcoming. The place is smallish but well spaced out for comfortable seating. The Papas was full with customers as we finished our breakfast. The coffee was delicious. I do like my coffee hotter though. But still good enough for 3 cups :) The best of all...our food was delicious and cooked spot on. Kudos to the chef. I had two eggs broken yolk well, house fries with peppers and onions and crispy bacon, hubby had loaded hash browns for the meat lover and over medium eggs with a side of gravy. Drew and his wife bought the business and they really turned things around. Great food and service. The menu is pretty much the same but food quality is awesome. Generous portions and quick service. Love to see a good local non-chain restaurant do well. Very clean as well. On a side note, I have patronized Papas New Roost for many years. The service & food both declined after Covid.
