Barr's Public House is another one of our go-to's when we want to go out for dinner and a cerveza (or two). Subdued atmosphere, not too noisy even when busy, food is always good, and the craft beer choices are varied for all tastes. I am a fan of stouts / porter craft beers, and tonight there were 3 stouts on the menu. Yay! We ordered the sous vide chicken, cauliflower bites, and the pub dip. Sadly, the chicken was rather uneventful and somewhat bland. The cauliflower bites and pub dip were satisfying. We sat at the bar, and the people usually working the bar are usually very attentive, even when totally slammed. Prices are reasonable for food quality, portion size, and service. Yes, we will be back!

We've known about Barr's since day one, but due to the location, it's remained completely off our radar. It was only when we recently planned to go to Walt Churchill's market across the street, that we reminded ourselves we still needed to stop by, and we're really glad we did, because the burgers are pretty damn tasty. While I found the meat a little overworked, it was seasoned exceptionally strong, in the best way possible. My wife and I both chose the Kobe smash burgers, hers with one patty, and mine with three, stealing her extra. Long story short, I'd happily eat a triple patty from Barr's Public House any day of the week. The truffle fries were tasty too, but extremely greasy. The sweet & spicy side salad was also a bit of a miss with the greens a little too wilty and soft for our preference. Service was welcoming, and while the atmosphere is a bit generic, with a dimly lit gastro pub vibe, we enjoyed the attention to details and there is no question we'll be back. BPH is a great excuse to add Walt Churchill's more on a permanent grocery rotation, and even if we don't need to do any shopping, Barr's is still worth the effort.

The food was amazing!!! I had a buffalo chicken taco (restaurant week) and it was SO filling. One taco was more than enough! The cajun fries were also awesome. My friend had a BLT taco and also enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable and I really appreciate that nowadays. Service was good but nothing special. The ambiance is really nice and a chill bar atmosphere. I will be returning!

Barr's public house doesn't just serve up the best burgers and pub fare, they also serve up great steaks and seafood.

The weather was quite nice Sunday afternoon, so we decided to go and check things out. We ordered a flight of crafted brews: Blimey; Big Fat Boss Baby Mocha; and two Student Body Right and our food choices (limited menu for the soft opening). Because it was so nice out, we decided to occupy one of the tables in the "courtyard" area near the IT5 Food Truck. It did take long and I received a text message indicating our food was ready. We had a Mushroom Swiss Smash Burger w Fries and Chicken Tenders w Cole Slaw. Both food items were very good. The chicken tenders were tender and juicy. The smash burger was done to our liking. Fries were made while we waited. We had been to the Fieldhouse a couple times, but we did not know there was a fire ring set up "in the back 40". Nice touch. Maybe IT5 will utilize some of the additional space out back for more than one food truck? Time will tell...

Upon arrival, the already small lobby was completely overcrowded, to the point where there was barely room to move. It honestly felt like a fire hazard with people constantly trying to squeeze in and out. The only update we received from the hostess, Victoria, was that they were "backed up," delivered with a noticeably rude and dismissive attitude. There was no organization, no guidance, and no effort to manage the situation or accommodate guests. To make matters worse, there was nowhere to wait except outside. When we asked if we would receive a text when our booth was ready, Victoria responded sarcastically, saying, "You think I can text all these numbers on this list? There's no way to do that." That level of unprofessionalism was completely unacceptable. After waiting 20 minutes past our reservation time with no clear communication or plan, we decided to leave. The lack of organization, poor communication, and rude service made for a very off-putting experience--especially on a holiday. Unfortunately, this experience has made us very hesitant to return.

Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted by friendly wait staff and shown to our reserved table. The ambiance is upscale with dim lighting. We were there for a book club luncheon and the restaurant wasn't busy or noisy, which was perfect for us. The menu offered a nice variety of options. While the restaurant is known for barbecue and pizza, most of us ordered sandwiches and salads. Our server seemed to be very new, but was polite and pleasant. She was on top of drink refills, which was good because Coke and Iced Tea were $3.00. Funny thing but someone in our party ordered a gin and tonic and that also was $3.00. Our food orders were slow to come out and our server couldn't keep track of who ordered what, which wasn't a big deal since we were a group of approximately ten. Not all orders came out at once, so some were eating and some were waiting. I ordered a veggie burger with cheese and a side of ranch. When the plate came out, there was no cheese or ranch dressing. Our server took my plate back to the kitchen and I also requested a slice of tomato. I found the veggie burger very bland but edible. The fries were plentiful but I only ate a couple. Nobody raved about the food but I didn't hear any complaints either. A lot of our group took home leftovers. When the checks came, we learned that 22% gratuity had been added to each check because we were a large table. I also learned that the cheese for my veggie burger had an upcharge of .99 for the cheese and.50 for the ranch dressing. We enjoyed our discussion and socializing in a nice ambiance. I was underwhelmed by my meal, so wouldn't run back anytime soon. If I were to dine here again, I'd probably try the pizza. A photo of my veggie burger is posted below.
