When your wife is from Austintown you visit for the Canfield Fair. When you want a great dinner you go to Barry Dyngles. It has grown in popularity and in size over the years (haven't we all). The appetizer of hot peppers in oil is a Youngstown tradition. The ribs are always tasty and tender. Tonight was takeout. Sriracha and honey chicken, basmati rice and the vegetable medley. Food was good. Had the fish sandwich and baked beans and the sausage sandwich with coleslaw. I like my slaw a little more flavorful and the sausage sandwich is HOT! I like things spicy, but this was a little much. Glad i had the slaw. Bbq nachos were tasty. Could have used some green onions and maybe sour cream. Cocktails tasty. Portion sizes are ample. Honestly, everything about my experience here was just fine. The staff were friendly and polite, but it wasn't very busy and we rarely saw our waitress. The food was all okay, the chicken was very bland, and I wasn't impressed with the sauce options. Our table was sticky, like old bar top sticky, and we were sat right under an A/C vent, so being cold the whole time definitely added to a negative experience. For the price we paid, I would much rather go to Mission BBQ (which I'm not crazy about either, but it's better tasting and cheaper!) This is the one place where I can say, I personally know the chef so I felt that I had to review. This is a great BBQ place in Austintown. Being in Ohio, we don't exactly have a bbq style of our own so it is nice to see a mix of different sauces that are featured on the menu. They have great appetizers, especially these Italian greens, they mention on the menu they have the best in the area and I don't think they're lying. You get a nice kick from the pepper and the garlic mellows it out. The chips were also a great appetizer, they didn't get soggy from the oil as can happen sometimes. I completely forgot to take a picture of the entrees because I was too excited. Both times I have eaten here I ordered the brisket, it flakes so easily just with your fork, ugh it's delish. You also get a choice of two sides with the brisket. My new go to is the cheesy potatoes because you can never go wrong. The family and I were cruising back home after Independence Day, stuck on the Ohio Turnpike. Sick of fast food, we decided to find a local spot off the interstate. Barry Dyngles had good ratings on Yelp and was only a 15 minute drive off our course. We decided to go for it and WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED. The restaurant had a few people in it at noon on a Sunday, but by time we left around 1:15 PM, it was filling up. Part of the space was still being renovated, but you could not notice from the high top tables at the bar. We were promptly sat and greeted. Our waitress -- forgot her name because this was yesterday but she was AWESOME -- asked us if it was our first time and then gave us the highlights. Homemade, award-winning sauces (both Kansas and Carolina styles) and premium smoked meets. We ordered to appetizers off their summer menu - scallops and Brussels sprouts. Both were amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly with a nice golden brown crust. They disappeared before any photos. The honey sriracha spouts were crispy and tasty with a good balance of sweet, spice, and savory. The sprouts were cooked well and not mushy -- I hate over cooked Brussels sprouts. Four our mains, I hade the Sunday Special BBQ Plate with BBQ chicken, brisket, and pulled pork. For sides I had the coleslaw and cheesy potatoes. All my meet was well done. I had my coleslaw with the pulled pork. I would have liked the slaw to have rested for a day as the cabbage was still firm and the flavors had not totally melted together. But it complimented the pork well. The brisket was a nice portion and was fork tender. The chicken breast was on the smaller side, but with the other meats, it was the perfect size. The sauces were on point. I prefer the brown-sugar base sauce and it was delicious. Not too sweet, with a subtle bite to it. The vinegar base sauce was good too. I alternated every few bites. My wife ordered the two meet special with baby back ribs, spare ribs, and brisket. The baby back ribs disappeared before I could try them. I add the leftover spare ribs before writing this review. Even at a day old and cold, the meat was tender and flavorful. What a nice evening treat! The kids got standard kids fare: chicken, corn dogs, and soup. They eat everything, which does not always happen. So it was a plus for them too. As a family that eats out a lot and someone with restaurant experience, Barry Dyngles' was a great find for us. The food was authentic and good. The restaurant was nice, even with renovations going on, and the service was fast, friendly, and engaging. The bill came to $95 before tip -- that was with two apps on top of everyone's main course. Not the cheapest meal we had on the road; not the most expensive. But we paid for the quality and experience. We will take the detour next time we find ourselves hungry on the Ohio turnpike. Give it a try yourself! read more

So, I decided to try Barry Dyngles to see if it had potential to be my girlfriends and I's new date night location. Let me tell you. Our waitress Rachel hit a home run with her service. She asked if I had been there before and I said I hadn't. She then took the time to give me background on the restaurants history and development as well as its accomplishments. She explained the food was all prepared in house. EVEN THEIR COCKTAILS! I ordered their lime margarita and oh my god was it exquisite! I ordered a pick three and got the baby back ribs, pulled pork, and their smoked shrimp. The pulled pork was out of this world!!!! Tender and juicy! The shrimp was in my belly in about two seconds. So so good. Then the ribs? Not only were they falling off the bone but they were making me fall in love. I also have to make a note that their cornbread is absolutely the best I've ever had. It didn't crumble apart and make a mess or take all the moisture out of my mouth. I could've ate that and only that and left beyond happy! Also, I must say the price is definitely reasonable. I spend about 150$ at Texas Roadhouse, where we have been going for date nights, and get 1/3 of the amount of food. I usually always leave hungry. Not at Barry Dyngles. If I had to list some cons, which aren't even really something that I feel would turn people away from the restaurant, I'd say the biggest thing is if you go on the weekend, be prepared for the building to be a bit noisy. This restaurant beyond reason deserves to be full of happy and hungry people! However, that does make it loud inside but it wasn't something that ruined my experience just feel it's only fair I list a con to make an accurate review. read more

This is a great spot that I'm surprised we don't come to more often. They are known for their BBQ as well they should be. They just underwent a renovation as well and the new bar area is fantastic. My son's 18th birthday brought us there this past weekend. It was on a Saturday so we made 5PM reservations for the five of us. We arrived and were seated immediately. Our friendly waitress took and delivered our drink orders near immediately. I should preface this with the fact that they were very busy. Our waitress was efficient however it took awhile for our food to arrive. Not our waitresses fault when the kitchen is backed up. We ordered the Italian greens for an appetizer and going in I already felt that they were some of the best in our area and after this visit, my opinion hasn't' changed. Simply delicious. I chose to go with the Pick Two meats plate wherein I chose the pork belly and Kansas City ribs. The pork belly was perfectly tender and had a great smoke flavor. The ribs not only are slow smoked with a dry rub but it is also basted with house BBQ sauce. They were fall of the bone delicious. Paired with corn bread and mac and cheese, this dinner was marvelous. They offer a full bar with a decent bourbon and scotch selection as well. We had the Italian Fried Greens appetizer that was absolutely awesome. I've been to actual Italian restaurants whose greens weren't this good! Clam Chowder was delicious, thick, and hearty. I dig this place!! Went there for the first time a couple of years ago (2018) and have been a fan ever since. Who wants to actually visit Youngstown....NO ONE! When you're stuck in Y-Town like I was, then Barry Dyngkes is your spot! You'll see a bunch of Cleveland Browns/Ohio State fans....just pity them like I do. They ARE smart enough to spend their dollars at Barry's. It's a phenomenal restaurant that smokes meat. I always have the baby back ribs and I'm always full, fat and satisfied. Service staff is kind while also diligent in their duties and the food portions are fair. It's a sports bar, so you'll have to tolerate Ohio State fans openly trying to figure out how their "convicts" can win an N.C.A.A. football title OR listen to Browns fans complain about their poor choice of a N.F.L. franchise to support (Cavalier fans are still strategizing how to get LeBron back) so, it's kind of comical, too.....In a pathetic type of way. My last visit, on the serving plate of my food was a curly hair, one can only hope that it was from someone's head or beard. The manager came to the table and said he took the meal off my bill, which rightfully he should have, because I did NOT touch it, never offered to remove even the soda from my order. He did offer me food but who wants to eat after seeing a curly body hair on their dinner plate? I then paid with a credit card and was dinged another percentage because I did not pay with cash or debit I would not refer this establishment.
