After hitting the equivalent of a very large pothole I brought my 1 owner 2019 Toyota Tacoma to Precision Toyota Dealership to reset the Dash Collision lights and straighten my steering wheel. Precision Toyota service rep ,Richard Li, told me the work couldn't be completed until I replaced over $5500.00 of front end parts, see quote. I removed the truck from Precision and brought it to Barry Franks Motors who I have used in the past for service on another Tacoma and my BMW. He corrected the issues, could find NO damages reported by the Toyota dealership and charged me $250.00. I have reported my service experience at Precision Toyota to AZ AG and Tucson BBB. If I could rate 0 stars I would. The owner is very rude and just goes out of his way to be a jerk. Not a good way to keep customers. He is rude to customers and anyone he interacts with. My boyfriend took his car into to get a price. Was quoted 250 then later I was told 600. He just looks to scam people out of their hard earned money. So, i would def rate 0 stars if i could. This guy must have something going on in his life that makes him such a jerk. I took my Nissan to him a few months ago to get Transmission Servicing and after it was done he also told me that my brake pads were on the verge of going out. So, i had them replaced. Since i am a relatively new Car owner, i did not think anything of it and had it done. Afterwards, i noticed a loud grinding noise happening when i would slowly decelerate from about 15 mph down to 0. Worried about the problem, i initially was mad because i feared the worse. But after i had calmed down, i came back to his shop as he was closing just to ask a few questions and to see if he could take a look at it. I kid you not, he told me just to "turn the radio up louder." He even smirked and turned his face. Mind you i was very polite and just asking a simple question. I wanted to say can you test drive it to see but couldn't get to that part because of his attitude. Anyway, yea not a good way to keep a new customer and i will not be taking my business to him ever again. read more

Yesterday after getting ready for work I went out to start my car, the dreaded tick tick tick and no start of the engine. I got a ride to work, and started calling around about fixing my car. I called my neighbor and Ruthy told me she had gone to Barry for the last 20 years, he was and still is only down the street from my house as well. I called Barry and he was extremely helpful and procured a tow truck right over to my house accomplished getting my car fixed and the car was ready for the road by time I arrived there from work. It was the easiest car fix of my life. it was nice to go local and talk to the owner versus a manager of some random chain. We've been taking our old 92 Ford Taurus to Barry for a decade, give or take a few months. He's never turned us away when I'm sure other shops would have. We're blue collar working people and depend on our blue beast car; we've not been in a position yet to just go out and finance another car. He (and his crew) get that. He's completely honest and tries to minimize parts and labor repairs. We'd have been sunk a long time ago had we not found him. Presently, we do have another car and he's worked on that one as well. About 30 years ago we brought Barry the engine to our old 1959 Rambler in boxes (hubby's shade tree mechanic tore it up & left it). He put it back together saying it was the worst "basket case" he'd ever seen. Ole Jezebel (dad named it) purred like a kitten after that. For all that work the price was very very reasonable--not many people will touch a vintage vehicle. Flash forward: I just returned from the dealership & for the second time in a row a simple oil change has turned into a $1500 bill for a car with 82k miles--not hard miles. I came here to get my Toyota Rav 4 inspected and an exhaust leak repaired. I brought it in early in the morning, and it was patched up by the end of the day. Barry did not charge me an arm and a leg for it like others tried to do. Others tried to tell me that I needed a new exhaust entirely, which would have cost me thousands of dollars. I drive often between San Diego and Tucson and there are some places out there where you do not want to have a break down. On my last trip the check engine light came on outside Gila Bend, I started burning diesel and had no passing power. I made it to Tucson's Monterey Court for a serious beer and I was told by the owners Barry's was the place to get the truck checked. They were definitely correct, Barry solved the issue and checked out the whole truck, free of charge after I told him I often cross the desert. He has great rates, takes obvious pride in his work and even treats Californians very well. On the drive back I noticed the truck had more power and was getting the best MPG I've ever logged. Barry is great. I've been going to him for years. When I get my oil changed at a chain store, they always tell me that I have to do this or that to my car, and since I have no understanding of cars, I don't know what to believe - "Are they trying to scam me and get me to spend money I don't need to spend? Or do I really need to do this maintenance?" This recently happened, and Brake Max told me that I needed $1000 worth of repairs. I took it my car to Barry and told him what Brake Max had recommended. Had a coolant leak for quite a while and one day it was getting to the point where every time I started my car I had to fill her up with coolant. Finally had had enough and Barry is directly across the street from us so we decided to give him a call. He told us to bring in the car and he'll check it out for us and let us know what's wrong. Turned out we needed a new hose so he arranged his schedule a bit to fix it up for us right away. When we got the car back he not only fixed what we asked but also filled my windshield wiper fluid up and threw some more coolant in for us as well! Awesome & honest mechanic. read more

This is the WORST place I have ever brought my vehicle to. I brought my vehicle to Barry & I told him it was over heating, he said he will check it out and give me a call and let me know what it was that's causing that and he did, so he calls me and tells me it's the freeze plugs and water pump. So I pay 471.27 to replace it. He says there are no more issues. At this point I'm very happy, but then I drive home, (I live maybe 8 minutes away) then I park the vehicle. Next morning I go to drive to the grocery store, I notice it smells like antifreez and it's over heating again ten 20 minutes of it running. I shut it off and I call Barry and I tell him what's going on he says to bring it in, so I get it towed to his shop, then he calls me a few hours later and says now it's the timing chain and cover and another freeze plug, (well I thought he replaced all the freeze plugs the first time)!! Giving him the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe he had just made a mistake I tell him let's just fix it and he says okay it's going to be 600 dollars to replace it all and get it straight, i go through with it, he calls me a few days later and says it's finished and it's going to be 850 dollars instead of 600, so I get there to just pay and leave and as soon as I fire my vehicle up something flys out from under the hood and I hear a clicking sound really loud. I go back in and I tell Barry and he said my fan just broke. At this point it seems like every time I bring m vehicle to him I get it back in worse shape. So he puts a fan in really fast, and I drive home. NO OVERHEATING AT THIS POINT. I drive home again( 8 mins away in GPS) and I park my vehicle. Then I start it the next morning. in about 30 minutes STARTS OVERHEATING AGAIN. BUT THIS TIME I GO TO TURN AROUND AND PARK AND IT FALLS OUT OF GEAR. no transmission left. I IMMEDIATELY call BARRY and he gets mad and yells on the phone saying "it seems like this POS is going to be a everyday thing" he says he's busy and I'll have to come back another day. I bring it in three days later and he says it's going to be 4000 more dollars to get it done and "I'm just a unlucky guy" MY VAN WAS IN BETTER SHAPE BEFORE HE TOUCHED IT. DEFINITELY THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER WITH A MECHANIC IF I CAN GIVE HIM ZERO STARS I WOULD AND I CANNOT STRESS IT ENOUGH WHY YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT GO HERE! WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME!!!! read more
