My Run-In with a Screw and a Superhero Mechanic About halfway through my road trip from San Diego to Las Vegas, the low-tire-pressure light on my dashboard lit up! I was in the middle of nowhere, so there were a few nerve-racking minutes before I saw the sign for gas. I pulled over, and sure enough, one of my tires was very low. Luckily, they had an air pump at this gas station. So I filled it up and got on the road, hoping the slow air leak in my tire would hold until I got to Barstow. After about an hour or more and another air pump stop, I arrived in Barstow. Luckily, I could find Frankie's West Coast Tires on my phone, and they were one of the two or three that were still open. When I got there, there were two other cars ahead of me. But Frankie (I took the liberty of calling him Frankie) was working at an amazingly fast pace. In less than fifteen minutes, my turn came up. In less than 10 minutes, he fixed the flat on my tire that was caused by a giant screw and got me back on the road! I loved the service and the efficiency. Owner sold me a damaged used tire, lasted 2 weeks, then bubbled on the inside. I should have inspected it before he installed, that's my fault.. But that does not excuse his dishonesty. When I replaced the tire, the inner lip was damaged in multiple areas and wire bead was showing where it had bubbled. Inspect your tires before you purchase!
