Bartenders going wild
Victor C.

I was there before I walked to acl .. I ordered2 shots of espolón and a beer.. 30... cool. I paid with cash.. and was on my way... I came back after the concert... stayed in line while the bartender helled all her friends on the right side of the bar.. an then ordered the same.. 2 shots and 1 beer... the bartender (blonde lady ) ask my card.. I gave it to her and when she hands my my bill is $46 dollars... I asked her why... she couldn't say... the other gentleman steps in and kicks me out ... am I wrong for asking why the change on the prices...

Fantastic vibes. So glad it's still standing after all these years. Love bellying up at the bar and having a cold one here.

Great vibe, service and ambiance! Excellent place to patio and watch the crowds. Food truck was excellent if you like wings.

Barton Springs Saloon is a great low key spot with cheap drinks. They recently got a new food truck, Downtown Burgers. Attached is the menu.

No frills. Zero. And that's what you can count on from this bar. Nay, saloon. I like that there are unsavory patrons milling around pretty much any time of the day, but that's what gives this neighborhood watering hole its flavor. Drinks are relatively cheap and during happy hour, even cheaper, and there's so much outside and inside seating that finding a place to squat shouldn't be that hard. It's not the cleanest place around town, but the beer is cold and the mixed drinks are strong. Bonus is that even though it is divey, they carry a lot of local brands, so it's not just a place slinging Coors Light and Bud.

Solid bar. Nothing overly fancy but you can sit inside or outside. Stay here for the evening or make it one drink as you make your way around the area. Free Wifi. $2 lone star bottles! That's all you really need. They have ciders too. Fancier canned beers and some drafts. Liquor but I'm not sure on the wine situation. Stopped in here most days pre Zilker Park Austin City Limits for some drinks. Uber/Lyft drooped is off right outside and we had some drinks and laughs before walking into the festival. Uber was hosting some love band and giving out ride discounts if you'd vote for the next song the live band would cover. Regardless of that this is a cool spot to hang out. Was nice to watch traffic coming sneak coming while we had some beers. Be a nice spot to meet your friends after work or even to end the night. Nothing fancy just good company and cold beer.

I very much love the vibe of this place, especially amongst so many hipster spots in the city. It's very divey. So, yes, it has a pool table and darts. The staff is super friendly and fun and the music is good to. It's mostly a sit down and hangout type of place, not much dancing, but dancing could be done.

Amazing human, and now will be my best man at my wedding in January.

Went ACL. If you've never been, it's a huge music festival. Lots of walking stopped in this bar to have a drink and killer wings and this guy was working and brought my girlfriend some Band-Aids because he overheard that she had cut her foot. Saved the day. Thank you sir

We wondered upon this place by accident. It was near House Wine, which we were trying to go for happy hour at 3pm. Happy hour here is daily! Sometimes all day and till 7pm. They had a lot of beers on tap! The lady was really nice and let us try some samples before we commit to a pint of beer each. They also have a pool table, which you can play for $1! There's also outside seating. I don't believed they sell food.

Fun place to close out our restaurant row drink crawl. I drank many a Stella and people watched like an unassuming stalker. Good times.

Great place for a cold Lone Star. Extremely chill during the day, a little more rowdy after sunset. Always dog friendly.

Really fantastic experience!…read more The cocktail menu is diverse and fun. The quality of drinks was excellent. My favorite part was the DJ was also playing electric guitar to accompany some of the songs in his lineup. It was really cool. I've never seen a DJ do that before. The whole time we were there the service and ambience and tastes were top-notch, but the DJ piece really created a memorable experience that leaves me wanting to come back.

But it was more important to the Powder Room that the next group got their table on time, apparently. The drinks took soooo long, we got ONE round in, and were asked to leave the table before our second round arrived. They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

I went to Whisler's and had one of the worst bar experiences I've ever had…read more I had one drink. I was completely sober for all intents and purposes. The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

The actual bar is to the left of the entrance. I love that they have a variety of drink specials as well as nonalcoholic beverages. There's plenty of photo ops, jenga, corn hole, pool, foosball, connect four, pacman, and a few other arcade games. This place is completely filled with 80s, 90s, and early 2000s' nostalgia. It's the perfect spot of tourist and for native austinites. There also a lot of vintage signs from old stores and restaurants that were local to austin as well. I would say this spot is worth the hype! I also give bonus points for the shops & food trucks outside of the bar. The perfect place to hang out with friends and have some fun.

Well, we didn't have a reservation and we were able to get sat right away. I forget the name of the individual who assisted us by placing our order. I ended up getting the espresso martini, and then my other person got an old-fashioned. I was asked if I wanted a shot of Bailey's with the espresso martini and that to me would've been way too much. The martini itself was almost kind of smoky. Not your typical kind of very crisp espresso martini had a nice foam on top of it. We also ended up ordering the sliders to go along as we had dinner reservations, and that bacon jam on there is magnificent. The sliders were all juicy and very well put together bun was very soft and the flavor of everything was really good. I would totally go back just for the sliders. Overall the service was great.
