When I read online reviews of merchants, I notice that most of them are in the extreme, and the vast majority of those are negative. I bought a 2008 Saab from Bart's last week. Finding their listing through Carsdirect.com, i could see they were pricing pretty aggressively. So they were alreadynn the neighborhood of "reasonable asking price." You should know what a fair price is BEFORE you engage a dealer on a used car. The salesperson Jake Springer was great in communicating on the phone, email, etc. I had arranged a pre-purchase inspection with a local mechanic, and Jake sent me on my way with minimal hassle. When I decided I wanted to work out a price, Jake and his manager were similar to other dealers -- that "I've got to talk to my manager" dance. I get it. In my case, they countered once and accepted my second offer. Everything after that was hassle free. I recommend Bart's. They seem to seek out good vehicles to out in their inventory, and they seem to genuinely want a satisfied customer. Some reviews would tell you otherwise, which is why I'm writing. read more

Buyer Beware. My husband and I purchased two vehicles from Barts within a one year period. Initially we were happy with our purchases until the AC unit stopped working in one of the vehicles and the clearcoat literally started peeling off the car. When we took the vehicle to a mechanic to have the AC repaired the mechanic informed us the vehicle had been wrecked and both radiators and the condenser needed replaced. Of course Barts neglected to inform us of this history. Apparently the vehicle was cheaply repainted and short of having it repainted and more expense to us there is no resolution. The mechanical repairs were $2500. In the near future we will be looking for a vehicle for my grandkids and had Barts been willing to work with us on attempting to make things right we may have been back but there unwillingness to work with us will keep us from ever giving them additional business or recommending them to others in the future. I suggest that you are very careful about spending your precious dollars with Barts as their practices are not ethical and you may end up at the wrong end of the deal as we did. read more

I bought a 2016 hynudai genesis that was pulling to the right when you apply the brakes,when i told my sale's guy he took it to the shop and was told it was a caliber sticking,so they replaced it but it took 3 weeks to get it back about 2 weeks later my brakes locked up and was burning so i took my car to hynudai for a brake inspection and was told the calibar they put on was from the junk yard and it was bad it cost me 1,021.00 to to try and get it fixed, I took to barts about it and all the did was give me the run a round also lying, dont ever get a car from bbarts car store the are all liars read more

Review of a friend & her recent vehicle purchase at Barts Car Store in Columbia City: Bought a vehicle drove it for 4 days, not even 500 miles & the engine blew up! I was told I had 30 days through Bart's & also purchased the extended warranty for 2200 dollars! I called them the next day & had it towed back there. I had to pay the tow bill! My car sat there for 9 days without any answers. I called every day! I left voicemails for the service department with no return call. Day 9 the salesman called me & said "we think it's the transmission control module & we can't get that part it is on back order nationwide. We are sorry, we really tried to help you. You will have to take it to your mechanic!" 3 days later I was able to get it towed again with another tow bill I had to pay. My mechanic found the starter was not firing so he replaced the starter, & it would not start! With further observation, my mechanic found that the motor locked up & burnt up the starter! My mechanic called Barts & he was told I bought the extended warranty & I would have to call them! So I filed a claim. They sent out an adjuster & found that there were metal shavings in the oil pan & filter. The oil on the filter was like gum & the oil filter was rock hard! I was told this vehicle was fully serviced when I bought it! That proved to be untrue. The adjuster & my mechanic estimated that the oil hadn't been changed in over 20k miles due to the way the oil filter looked. So now the warranty company is voiding my warranty that I paid 2200 dollars for & will not cover the motor! My mechanic was informed that Barts was going to come get the vehicle! I called them & talked to the salesman because the manager wouldn't talk to me. I was supposed to get a call back & have not received one! I gave them 22k dollars for a vehicle I drove 4 days & they fraudulently sold me a warranty that is now voided & they will do absolutely nothing! I also talked to the manager at the Fort Wayne store named Adam & was told that all vehicles are serviced before they are sold & that maybe the salesman's didn't know that this one wasn't serviced when he sold it! So you sell me a vehicle that was not serviced & lie to me & now I'm responsible for 10k in repairs! No offer of help, no vehicle to drive, nothing! I am now on day 21 with no vehicle & out a 1k dollar down payment along with a car payment & motor repairs! read more

****STAY AWAY!**** They have an F on the BBB for the past 4 years for a Reason!!! I received one if their holiday mailers at my home and scratched off supposedly a possible $100,000 cash prize. After registering online, I called to find out what the rules were and what I had to do. With no purchase necessary, I just had to spin a wheel for my prize. Obviously it was a ploy to get customers into the door but it worked and who doesn't like free money? Calling ahead I was told to ask for "Ray". Showing up with a buddy of mine, I asked for Ray upon arriving and the sales floor guys had no clue who he was. After finding Ray, he, unlike any salesmen I've ever met, proceeded to berate, disrespect, and patronize me because I refused to sign up for a car. This was NOT in the rules and I wasn't going to sign anything. Ray wouldn't take no for an answer until I asked for a manager who then told Ray that I didn't have to sign anything to receive my gift. After I "spun" for my prize, I collected it and walked out of the place. My thoughts: Ray needs a new job. Insulting someone's intelligence, and questioning my income is outrageous and very bad business for a dealership. Comments like: "You make $4,000 a month and you can't afford a car?" and "Good luck finding a decent car for $5,000." is disrespectful and highly unprofessional. You don't know what sort of bills and financial responsibilities one has. He even proceeded to make fun of me for spinning for a prize of $1 and kept being extremely passive aggressive that I had to call him out on it. My girlfriend and I traded-in her old vehicle for a used one here. They gave us a fair trade-in price and a great deal on a used Dodge Nitro (one of the best even compared to ones on the internet). They helped us through all the financing and legal details (we had extra paper work with moving from Ohio, but they gladly helped us and made it a real nice transition). We dealt mostly with Scotty who was very professional and kept his word on everything. About a week after owning the vehicle the brakes started to make a weird sound and we called them and they said "Bring it in" and they replaced them with no extra charge. I've never had service like that. Definitely a life-time customer. I give them 5 stars because everything was to our expectations. read more

I cannot even give them a star. Four weeks ago from today I bought a 2008 Acadia's from The sales man Troy. I bought it out of cash for $5000. Two days after I bought it my transmission completely went out he acted like he was so surprised literally two freaking days. They fixed it it took them a matter of two weeks and three days to fix it three days after I got the car back from the mechanic shop that Barts took it to my engine just blew. Just to remind you I have two children and my wife is 20 weeks pregnant and my children are two and nine months. I personally would never recommend this auto dealership yeah they have good prices for a bunch of junk. My family is now screwed. Thank you Barts!!! Troy you suck at your job. you're a terrible dealer. I just love it how people like you can get a piece of crap to somebody that has two babies and one on the way and not give a damn. had my truck appraised for a trade. I found a vehicle I was interested in purchasing. The difference between my trade and the SUV I was looking at was more than I wanted to spend. No problem. That happens. I browsed their website and found another truck in the right price range. I had already looked at it earlier in the day and knew it was in good physical condition. I called in and told them that I wanted to make a deal on the truck. They pulled up my trade and the truck I was looking at, threw me some numbers and I agreed to the deal. The guy said that the keys to my new truck were missing. They would get a new key made and call me when it was ready. I could head down, hand over my keys, title and cash and be on my way. Several hours later, he called and told me that they decided that they over valued my trade and would be offering me $6,000 less for it than the original offer. So if I wanted the truck I would need to bring an additional $6,000 to make the deal. Keep in mind that they had no access to my trucks in the interim, so it isn't like they suddenly discovered some issue that they didn't already know about Basically, they found out that I was in a bind needing to get a truck for hauling and thought they could rob me for extra money. Absolutely an unbelievable joke. I will be utilizing a huge amount of time making sure the world knows what scumbags the people at Bart's are. Whether it's violating the verbal contract, going back on their word or just being generally dishonest, this store should never be patronized by anyone, ever, under any circumstance. read more

I can't give them less than 1 Star. So we went last week and the vehicle was priced at 13,800. They had this coupon that stated if you purchased a vehicle of 10,000 your coupon would get you $2400 off the price. We went on a Saturday and the promotion didn't start until the following Tuesday. We drive the vehicle and loved it. He told us the coupon wasn't valid until Tuesday but not a big deal we could use it. So we are thinking $2400 off of a 13,800 vehicle and ready to write a check. HA ! He then tell us the retail price of the vehicle if $15,500 and now we minus off the $2400 !!! We said that makes no sense and he looked at us like we had tentacles coming out of our head. We spoke to the General Manager and basically tells us the same thing. We said no thanks to the deal or lack thereof and as we are walking out he smugly says " not interested in saving money ? " WOW ! Talk about bordering on unethical. Stay away ! Shady dealership and shady sales tactics to say the least. I was more than willing to write a check for $12,000 that afternoon ! Bought a 2011 jeep off them. Web price is what we agreed on. with 2 down. 1350 for my trade. and included in that price without raising it was new tires on the jeep. They agreed. Silly me I didn't look at all the papers we signed. Barts raised the price $1,000 from the web price. To bad we trusted them and now its past the 30 days. We are a young couple that was taken advantage of. And with auto park going out of business around us. We chose here. And was going to trade up every 5 years with them. and even my grandpa was going to get his retirement f150 off them. they have a great selection. My grandpa bought a truck from Bart's a couple weeks ago and since getting it home is still unable to drive it with all the work that needs done. A simple part needed replaced and I went to pick it up from Bart's for him last week just to have the mechanic tell us it was the wrong part and that now he thinks the transmission is about to blow. The truck was an old Silverado that he got tricked into paying $15,000 for on top of the nearly $1000 he's put into fixing it so far. After calling Bart's nearly every day, every guy we talk to seems lost and has no idea what part they promised to give him and refuse to take the truck back after all his complaints. I ended up trading it in 3 months later for a $5,000 loss. After that they refused to return the gap insurance payment! My roommate won a car based on a mailer that was delivered on the last day of the event. He emailed them that night because he did not get it till he came home from work. Because they had all these exceptions in the rules he got nothing. It seems fishy the mail came so late, that I would NEVER trust them to buy a car from.
