Probably my favorite lunch spot, would be nice if it was a little quicker but makes sense for the small little shop it is. Never tried the drive thru cause they look like they're there for an extremely long time. I've only tried 2-3 menu items, but that's a sandwich! Yummmm.... greeted by a gruff looking guy, but was sweet as ever. He was quick at taking orders as this place was hopping with customers. We had a green chile cheese burger and a turkey sandwich. The burger dripped with juices of grease and cheese and green chile... delicious! The turkey sandwich was so big I couldn't even wrap my mouth around it, it was packed with meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo. Nothing wrong with this place, they know what they are doing! This isn't a detailed review, as I only had one item. It's located in the back of a C-store where I stopped for fuel. It was about lunch time and this seemed a good alternative to the McD's down the way. I was very pleasantly surprised. I ordered a hamburger with all the fixin's. It was memorable: The patty was nicely thick but not too. Plenty of fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles and the mustard and mayo I requested. Thoroughly satisfying. A very pleasant surprise. I've lived in Durango since 2011 but this is my first time at Bart's. I'm from the East Coast and have lived in Jersey and NY so I'm skeptical of most delis outside the Northeast. The hot pastrami sandwich hit the spot. Next time I might ask for a little more spicy mustard but otherwise it was delicious. The pickle on the side was a nice accompaniment. I used the drive through and was very pleased that the gentleman who took my order, (whom I assume may have been Bart), took the time to patiently answer my questions about the corned beef and pastrami. I won't hesitate to come back again and can't wait to try the corned beef. Wish I took a pic of the sandwich but it was too delicious and didn't last long enough. read more

His morning crew is top notch, the breakfast burritos are fantastic, and my go-to breakfast is a custom grilled sandwich with egg, two cheeses, bacon, sausage, jalapeños ( or green chiles), on sourdough. I've been going to Bart's for a while now and had a horrible experience at the drive-thru. They have the prices listed on the drive-thru board. Ordered a special and went to the drive-thru window and the prices were way higher than what they should be. Ask the manager there what's going on and he says that they have not adjusted the prices because it cost too much money. how many people are getting swindled by this place and almost seems like a bait and switch or misrepresentation of prices. What a great place. It's inside a gas station but that doesn't mean a thing. This place is better than a lot of NY delis I have been to in the city. Fresh cut boar's head meats, and they don't skimp on the sandwiches. Our group had the Reuben, BLT, turkey special, grilled cheese and pastrami. All were excellent. Crinkle cut fries accompanied the sandwiches. Bart greeted us and Rachel was very helpful with our barrage of questions and recommendation requests. Keep up the great work! She went to ask the cook, also the owner Bart, and was told it was just about done... Perfectly good answer, except he then proceeded to look at me and say "why don't you stare at me, it will make it go faster"...like Dude, I'm just asking because I have to be back to work. So I decided to just ask for my money back because I'm not going to patron an establishment that is rude as hell to the people that are spending, too much btw, their money. Stopped by to have oil changed early one morning. Thought a breakfast burrito would be nice. I've heard good things about Bart's in the past, but they totally forgot to make my order. Oil changed and tires rotated long (30 mins) before any recognition I was still standing In line for a burrito. I asked and got my money back with a relatively friendly 'ok'. Staff seemed to be a bit flummoxed trying to get 4 orders complete in the time I was waiting. This deli is fine for what it is. We stopped by on our way to ABQ. I got the grilled cheese which was rather luke warm but still decent. My wife got the burger and she said it was ok. The others in the car got the Chicken Pepper sandwich and they loved it. Service speed was fine. This place would actually do well in a non gas station setting. My family and I were on a road trip from Telluride to Albuquerque and needed a quick lunch stop. Durango unfortunately didn't have much to choose from, so we ended up at Bart's Deli. I had a cheeseburger which was pretty standard. Fries needed salt or ketchup desperately. Other family members got the chicken sandwich special and absolutely loved it.
