This is the best damm BBQ in Southern California if not the best west of Texas. The meat is cooked perfectly, the seasoning is spot on and the sides are incredible. I've had the pleasure of going to see these fine folks several times and have introduced several people to their food, not one has been disappointed. Perfection takes time and demand creates waiting. Didn't get to try the bbq. Came to LA Ale works because i saw Bartz BBQ post on IG that they were going to be there at 12 and ready to serve at 1. When we got there, their sign said they start at 2. We waited until 2 and got in line which i have to say, the placement of the line was ridiculious. The line was in the patio area which was overly crowded with babies and kids all over the ground and their toys. Once i got in line, i waited about 15-20 minutes and the line did not move one bit. Bartz barbecue is one of the best I have ever tried. Brisket and pulled pork is a must have. Kids had thumbs up on mac&cheese. $200 order was more than enough to cater to 15 adults and some kids. This review's been a long time coming. I had Bartz BBQ a few weeks ago when meeting a buddy at The Strand Brewery. I'm always a little leery when trying new BBQ. I'm a certified BBQ judge so my standards are very high. I've been to a few places in L.A. are that are really good. Bartz BBQ is by far the best I've had in L.A. I had the brisket, some lean and fatty. Mac and cheese and bbq beans. All were outstanding. Great smoke flavor on the brisket. Moist and tender. Mac and cheese great flavor and a good crust. At LA Aleworks their BBQ was so damn dry, not even their smothering it in sauce helped it out. 2nd time at LAA, same thing. Now they're trying to do fried chicken. However, yesterday, we arrived to Aleworks at about 12:30 and they weren't set up, which is fine. Just had the most delicious BBQ from Bartz! They were the evening's fare at The Strand Brewery tonight so I thought I'd give then a try. I had the brisket plate with 2 sides. The meat was so amazingly tender and dripping with smoky flavor. The plate came with your choice of 2 sides and I tried the Mac n cheese and BBQ beans. OMG!!! So good!!! I also tried the cole slaw and corn bread. The cole slaw was pretty basic nothing too exciting but the corn bread came with some orange honey butter!!! AMAZING!!! I ordered some beef ribs with a side of beans and a huge piece of corn bread that was topped with a delicious citrus butter concoction. The serving sizes were more than generous! Tried these guys at Sholb Brewery in Torrance. Best BBQ I've had in LA County. That's saying a lot, since I'm from Chicago, the home of Moo and Oink. My favorite is the beef ribs . . . I had Bartz BBQ at El Segundo Brewing Co. I had the pork, brisket, and Mac & Cheese. All were excellent. I'm hoping they add Beef Short Ribs in the future, because I bet they'd crush that. Service was great. I especially enjoyed meeting the chef (I think his name is Dustin) & talking smokers and Austin, TX BBQ with him.
