We ordered the crispy rice sushi, takata, Moroccan cigarettes, and chicken tenders which were all pretty small portions from what you're expecting. We all definitely went home a little hungry still. We really liked the chicken tenders--- although an awfully small serving. And another favorite from our table was the Mexican flatbread. I was really excited to try this place for my friends bachelorette dinner. From the start things were a little off. We made a reservation for 8:45, the website said they open at 8:30 and when we got there they said they only open at 9pm. Why have a reservation for 8:45 available? Ambience was nice and service started off good. Besides the music being loud which I knew going in would be the case. The appetizers were tasty and the drinks were great. I liked mine and ordered another of the same, and it tasted so different. Very inconsistent in drinks. We ordered mains, half our table got theirs first and my half only got ours 30-40 min later! Our steak was overcooked and dry, while the other side of the table had a perfect one. Again inconsistent. We ordered the shawarma and it was raw chicken!! Nothing off their usual list- after we had had our dinner which was later in the night like 10:30 and he did not even though he kept saying he would. He kept playing super narrow niche music that only a handful of people and the party in front of him knew. It was obnoxious. We were celebrating a birthday too and we spent a lotttt of money on alcohol specially so we should have been able to enjoy the night as much as them. This place was honestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while. The decor feels cheap and poorly put together definitely not matching the prices they're charging. The whole vibe is off. Super loud music all night with an Israeli singer that was way too loud and not enjoyable at all. You literally can't even talk to the person sitting next to you. The crowd made it even worse. Guests acting obnoxious, yelling, noses in the air like they're at some elite club... but the place itself doesn't come close to that level. Just a really weird, uncomfortable energy overall. Food was terrible. Nothing tasted good, and it felt like zero attention to quality. The cocktails were even worse $22 for a mixed drink that tasted awful is insane. Total rip-off. And then they automatically add a 22% service charge... for what exactly? Definitely not for the experience you're getting. Bathroom situation is a disaster too. Only two single-person bathrooms, so expect to wait 15-20 minutes in line. Completely unacceptable. Only positive was our server very nice and trying their best but everything else completely missed the mark. Overall, overpriced, overrated, and honestly just a trashy experience. Went to Basbussa with a group of friends and was not happy with a few incidents. I needed my husband to come into the restroom with me to help with my dress and the security there refused to let us go in together. We had already waited a good 15+ minutes for the bathroom and i had seen a male and a female come out of the other restroom and no one said anything to them. This man raised his voice and was scolding us and saying these are the rules only one person. I repeated myself multiple times saying I need help with my dress. Can I have one of my girlfriends come in with me and my husband asked the same questions multiple times and he had to raise his voice because this man was being disrespectful . We had to cut him short and say you're not listening to me listen to what I'm saying can I have a girlfriend come and help me if you're not allowing a man in there. This back-and-forth went on for at least four minutes until I was finally able to have a friend come and help me Another situation, we were smoking outside in front of the restaurant, and we were told to move further away from the restaurant, however a group of people that happened to be Israeli came out right after and stood right in front and we're smoking and no one said anything to them. Spoke to the manager and our server. Both were really nice and said they would bring it up to their attention. I hope something was done about it. Not only was it uncalled for , inappropriate to scold and raise your voice to a customer but it also took away from the night and we ended up leaving shortly after that. What a beautiful place! Not only is the interior designed beautifully but their food is amazing. I had the honor of meeting their owner who takes pride in her restaurant and after eating the food, should be very proud of her creation. She is very kind and warm hearted. Another thing, we were a part of 13 and we all had to spend a minimum of $100 each so they sent us a set menu. We asked if each person orders from the set $100 menu will it be okay? the waitress says "no the set menu will feed 4 people. It's too much for one person" so I asked is it still going to count as $100 per person she says no. Why in the world would you have a set menu if it's going to be so confusing?!?! Also there is NO HOOKAH. On top of that they forgot it was my birthday and didn't bring out cake or the sign until we told them TWICE. They brought it would at 12:00am. It was mehhhhh. We sat outside which we didn't mind. What we did mind was the amount of smoking which made it near to impossible to enjoy a late night dinner. The city of Los Angeles has an ordinance of smoking near public entrances and thus establish does not care about it. So much though, that their own security guard does it. The guard was on his phone the entire time standing in the front and rarely picked up his head. His body armor is useless because it has no inserts. Cheap Amazon purchase. They promoted an event with performers, which was the main reason I booked--but the performers never showed up during my visit. No explanation, no update, nothing. One of the BEST restaurant experiences I've had! Food was incredible, every single thing we ordered was delicious. Drinks were yummy and perfectly crafted. Service- wonderful! Our waiter Radu was awesome and so attentive, we barely had a wait on anything and everything came out super fast! Hookah was a fun little addition and we enjoyed smoking and eating, it was a very relaxed atmosphere. Parking- valet is available for $20 and we were there on a weekday otherwise be prepared to search for parking. The vibe in the place was so different than anything I've experience with Kosher dining and I appreciated the detail in the the decor and design, lighting and overall ambiance. Okay so 4 stars it is. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great when we got seated. So were the drinks and food. However, I do need to remove 1 star cuz I made reservations on open table. I did read the note to call and confirm the reservation on Thursday's and Saturday's. So I did that and all was confirmed. I didn't think I'd have any issues. When I got to the restaurant they told me they're fully booked and they don't have a table for us. Luckily the owner was so nice he managed to get something for us within 15 minutes. Everything just worked out after that. Thank you basbussa for the great night, it was a lot of fun.
