I cannot imagine giving this incredible boutique restaurant anything less than 5 stars. In fact, I would give it 10 if I could. Nua is tucked discreetly inside a hedge on a beautiful street, across from City Hall, in Beverly Hills. You need to know where it is or you might miss it. I found it by chance while looking for unusual brunch places and it was more than serendipity, it was Kismet. I wondered what Nua, the name, meant. It seems it is most appropriately translated as "authentic" or "fresh". That certainly fits our experience. It can also mean "flow" or "movement" and that also applied as the entire time we were there, a cool, soft breeze wafted around us from a combination of the fresh air flowing in from outside on a sunny temperate California day and the delicate waves emanating from the brilliant Vornados (the only kind of fans we have in our house!) positioned strategically around the room. Our first impression was: wow, beautiful place! The mid-century decor and fresh flowers, the vivid colors that were well coordinated to confer a cheerful atmosphere everywhere we looked, and the glowing light streaming in from the huge windows enveloped us in welcome. Our servers were exceptional. Rachel and Josh took care of us as if we were family. They checked on us at the right times and made sure we had everything we could have wanted, and so we did. The menu is a dream, even for vegetarians. We had a hard time choosing, so look at my pictures to see what we got. Everything was fresh, unique, tasty, and beautifully presented. There was 1950s and '60s music bathing us in a soft retro mood, and the dining room was intimate and elegant. Parking: it is hit and miss. Sometimes the nearest public garages are closed or full. I would use the valet for the hotel, right around the corner. It is reasonable and convenient. There has not been a more perfect setting for this one-of-a-kind experience. But, for us, it will not be a one-off. We plan to return and soon. Loved it so much! read more

What happened to Nua??? It used to be a hidden gem; a warm, welcoming restaurant with exceptional food, genuine family-like service, and generous, satisfying portions. All of that is gone. The food is unrecognizable. The Israeli breakfast looked like a sad box lunch. The shook salad was essentially a bowl of arugula with a few stray vegetables hiding somewhere inside. And the famous Hummus Masabaha, once a signature dish worth returning for, has been reduced to a small cup of garbanzo beans with a drizzle of olive oil and a single egg, at less than half the size it used to be. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone who remembers what it once was. Bring back the real Nua! read more

We decided to give NUA a second chance after our previous horrible visit. Sadly it was again really disappointing - but 2 stars this time because we actually were served food but we totally fail to understand to high rated reviews that we see. First off, no one greeted us as we entered. But we learned from last time that we the customer has to take the lead and so we did when a staff member said "hi". We managed to get seated but there was no warmth either literally (on the 74 degree day the overhead fans were blowing way too hard) or figuratively - the staff just don't seem happy. Mrs G ordered falafel (not my thing) and while she said the inner green paste was tasty the outer crust was essentially burnt. She cut the green out and left the burned outer layer on her plate (leaving very little edible material for $15). I took a pic but not posted. Then she had a green salad for $17 plus chicken for an extra $9. The salad was OK and the strawberries were a nice touch. Unfortunately about 1/2 the chicken was overcooked/bordering on burned and not eaten. I had the Schnitzel sandwich ($22). The white bread was overcooked toasted so I chose to eat less than half and chicken was tasty but over cooked IMO but I ate it because there was little chicken, I was hungry and I had to eat something. Add a soda ($5) each, tax and tip (I left only 10% to show that I wasn't pleased and told the waiter) plus $10 for parking ($2 per 15 minutes) and were $100 out of pocket for lunch. We drove home and made some mac and cheese, a big salad and a glass of wine. Will we be back? No thank you. Hopefully you will be more fortunate. read more

I would give this place 10 Stars if possible! A real hidden gem in Beverly hills and I would highly recommend going here! A very exclusive Brunch menu but everything was a major hit! HUMMUS MASBACHA 10/10 was so smooth! Really flavorful and everyone wanted more of this! This was a vegetarian option which came with some chickpeas and a boiled egg on top. Just a heads up in case you don't eat egg that you should ask to take it off. PITA BREAD - This game with the hummus and it was perfectly warm and toasted and soft on the inside and crispy and the outside and just a mind-blowing pita bread! CHARRED EGGPLANT 9/10 was really soft and had a mild sweet flavor. It was cold which I was a little surprised by, but it went well with the warm Pita that came with the hummus! Only reason I took off a point is because it felt a little oily and it was the only item that didn't get fully wiped off the plate. CAULIFLOWER FLORETS 10/10 So flavorful and I think this might have been the family's favorite on the menu because it just disappeared. BREAKFAST BURRITO with FALAFEL 11/10 My in-laws don't eat meat or egg and wanted a proper vegetarian item for breakfast and we asked to customerize the burrito by replacing the eggs and bacon with falafel. Father in the thought he would not eat any of the burrito but ended up actually finishing his half of it! The restaurant needs to add this as an item on the menu! SHAKSHUKA with MERGUEZ SAUSAGE 10/10 What are really delicious and hearty breakfast item here. Husband and I shared this one and it was really flavorful and a good portion size as well. Good amount of sausage in there that went with the egg and the tomato sauce. JERUSALEM BAGEL - 12/10 This game along with the shakshuka and I think everyone on the table wanted more of it! It was actually warm and so huge and had that perfect crisp outside and a really lovely flavor. Cannot say enough good stuff for this one. The bread here is like none other I've ever tasted in my life! I've also never had Shukshuka before and this was the proper place to start. After we came home to Seattle I've been on the hunt for someplace anywhere in the ballpark as this and nothing compares. I was slightly thrown off by the huge pic of Breakfast at Tiffany's because I have the depiction of Asians in that movie. It didn't seem to fit in with the current vibe of the place and all the Asians present dining. The special framed Woody Allen piece wouldn't have caught my notice and hit so oddly if I didn't have to stare at the huge Movie Poster throughout my delicious meal. My friend and I absolutely loved Nua! We visited after taking a Pilates class and brought my dog to sit in the gorgeous patio in front of the restaurant; however, they have a lot of space with plenty of seating inside with cozy seats and more intimate tables for privacy. The service accommodated my dog very well and shared their top-tier recommendations such as the shipud, chicken thigh kebab, branzino, and of course, pita and hummus! I got the branzino for more fresh vegetables and fish and my friend got the chicken kebab in the lavash. We adored how flavorful and vibrant the food was without being too heavy, salty, or oily! The presentations of the dishes are also stunning with a fresh, vibrant ambiance to pair it with. We went for brunch and three of us opted to get the Israeli Breakfast which is a pretty good deal because it comes with OJ or coffee. I love it here. The patio is gorgeous. The staff is welcoming. The babaganoush is delectable. The hummus is perfectly creamy and garlicky. (I'm very picky about hummus.) Even the bathroom is cute, and everything is super clean. The lunch prices are surprisingly great - especially for Beverly Hills. An unforgettable experience, in which members of the staff closed the restaurant, presumably at 10pm on a Monday night, and then proceeded to have a party on the patio from about 11pm until nearly 2am, with loud voices and music. I called down from the open window of my adjacent hotel and asked if they would turn it down, they told me to 'shut up and go to bed.' Followed by a trip to the restaurant patio at 1am to ask again, followed by a request for the police to pay them a visit, after he left they discussed turning the music up in volume. I listened to the staff of this restaurant have an after hours party for nearly 3 hours, not once turning it down, or treating a neighbor's business with respect. I called and left a message that morning, and called again later that afternoon and a helpful employee took down details, asked me for times and names, said a manager would call me back. Incredible ambiance, lovely enclosed outdoor area with beautiful lightning and plants. Really makes you feel like you're being taken out of the city. Food is a great blend of Mediterranean-middle eastern flavors. Cocktails are good, but I didn't really taste any alcohol at all...beautiful presentation though. Even though the restaurant was busy it was easy to walk-in and get seated on the weekend, I appreciate that the tables aren't so tightly squeezed together like other high-end dining in BH. I came here twice within a month; once for brunch and the other for dinner. The food is flavorful and delicious. The vibe on the outdoor patio is fabulous and I love the decor of the place. The staff is friendly but at times aloof. Both times I had incidents where they forgot to serve something and ended up removing the item from the bill. I love being left alone to enjoy my company I'm dining with but I feel they can be a little more attentive; i.e. refilling water glasses. Came here with my wife to enjoy and late brunch and the food and ambiance did not disappoint. It was a Saturday so they only had brunch that goes until 4pm. Not a lot of options but definitely something for everyone. We ordered the Bureka and the Shakshuka. Both are served with their delicious bread that is probably made in-house because it tasted so fresh. Nice and crisp on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. The sandwich was so flavorful and went really well with the shakshuka tomato sauce. We licked our plates clean and were satisfied. My wife also enjoyed a latte. It was pretty quiet because we got there around 3. It's part of a little boutique hotel and the decor and outdoor patio were nice and comforting. We valet parked for $17. There is a parking garage across the street but not sure how much that is. Service was good and prices were affordable at around $25-30 per person. Came for an early dinner at Nua with a friend, and would recommend this place for ambiance and drinks. There is a mix of cozy indoor/bar and outdoor seating, in a OTT glam setting. We were informed that we'd caught happy hour, which applied to cocktails and beer. Drinks were great & delicious. For food we ordered: - cauliflower florets: our favorite - a nice dressing of tahini sauce - charred eggplant: our least favorite. TBH the menu did not inform us that this dish is served cold. The date sauce made it overly sweet, and the pita that was served alongside it was very flavorless. - Shipud - This was fine. Nothing really stand out, and certainly didn't feel like it warranted the (now) $39 price. Service was friendly. The entire time we were there (a bit on the earlier evening side) it was pretty empty.
