The worst service ever. Waited 40 mins to get a Dosa. Had to share my husband's chicken curry. they didn't even check if I got my food even after reminding them. The butter chicken curry was good but the chicken was just overcooked and rubbery. Really bad service. No silverware given and when asked, the server just dropped it at the table. My husband and I really enjoy eating here. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Dallas area. The food is always amazing. And the service is very friendly and attentive. We eat here at least once a week. The lunch buffet is a great way to experience many of their dishes at a really reasonable price. My husband and I have so many favorite dishes. Thinking about some Indian Take-out? Think about someplace else. Not once but twice I've ordered take-out and arrived on time only to have to wait more than 30 minutes. Meanwhile, at least a dozen others came, picked up their orders within 5 minutes and left. Pretty darn sorry when you make someone wait that long. read more

I recently bought a Groupon for this place. We were there for dinner on a Saturday. We ordered a Chicken Biryani and Chole Bhature. Both were very good and the serving size was easily shareable by two people. The flavor wasn't what you typically find at other Indian restaurants where everything tends to look and taste the same! Basera's food stands out. The folks working there were very welcoming and hospitable. However, I did noticesome 'chaos' in the service. I had a craving for Indian food and found this restaurant on Yelp. They have been open for about 2 months now according to our waitress. The restaurant itself has a nice decor and is a decent size with outside patio seating as well. Ordered the samosas, chicken tandoori, garlic naan, lamb masala and lamb biryani. All the dishes were quite tasteful and tasted authentic. I will be back to try one of their curry dishes next time as I ordered just too much food this time around. My only complaint is our dishes all came out separately at different times and in no particular order. For instance the chicken tandoori was first followed by the samosas about 10 minutes later. Then the lamb masala came out with the naan but without the basmati rice about another 10 minutes later. It must have taken about 30 minutes for all of our dishes to be served. On the plus side, they served us bottled water (not tap) free of charge. read more

Went for their lunch buffet on a Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. Decor was great, service attentive, but the food - well it was perfect. The chicken tikka masala was not too creamy and had the right savory flavor. The goat curry was tasty. The shrimp with salt and pepper was awesome. So spicy - but awesome. I'm giving two stars because the food is good. But the customer service is horrible. I've eaten here a lot of times and it's only getting worse. They don't fill your water, they put cold butter chicken on the buffet and told us it would warm up, we asked for water and watched the guy fill up the table behind us twice so we asked the manager for water and he all but slammed the pitcher on the table. And the food is only getting spicier. It's a shame that we have decided not to ever go back because the food is really good, even though the spice is bad and if I could get some ice in my water EVER, I could tolerate it more. I have been to basera for lunch buffet as well as dinner. Lunch Buffet is delicious, I haven't seen any restaurant cooking prawns for buffet. Chilli corn is one of my favorite appetizer here. It's so tasty, fresh and delicious. Even chicken biryani is very good reminds me of india days. Apart from food the hygiene they maintain is so good. Staff of basera welcomes every customer, finds whether food and everything in the restaurant is good. I loved this restaurant not only for their food, also for the hospitality. read more

Non-professional, they forget items from your order, they forget things to be put on a side (even if you are willing to pay for it), it takes even more than 1.5 hours to get your food. I only know Basera for lunch and therefore the buffet. The vegetable side of the buffet is usually your best bet, except for paneer tikka masala. Paneer tikka masala is a very bad idea. If you are lucky enough to catch the rare sighting of palak paneer go for it, you won't be disappointed. The protein side of the house is often forgettable. One of the worst versions of chicken tikka masala ever and they serve it in mass quantity every day. The goat and chicken curries are usually so full of random shards of bone as to make them inedible. They often have a fish option or an egg curry that are quite good. The biryanis are good. They need a yogurt sauce to balance them but that's not a bad thing. Deserts, I'm probably not the best one to ask about deserts but meh. The seating is lacking. The tables are too big, take up too much space and severely restrict the number of people they can seat at any one time. They need to ditch the high top tables too and either get propper booths or replace the makeshift booths with propper tables. They have 4 or 5 round banketts that are very comfortable but in high demand and again, space hogs. I continue going to Basera because I love Indian. I've tried everything in the area and even with their problems they are still the best... in the area... for now. read more

Very good and tons of flavor. The service however wasn't the best. With some items having a good bit of spice I wasn't offered a refill of tea when my glass was empty and they didn't clear away my first plate. We sat waiting for someone to take our order for 15 minutes. We were one of two couples in the restaurant. A woman finally noticed us and said she'd be right back. She did come back about 5 minutes later. She stood at our table for about one minute not saying anything but trying to figure something out on her iPad. It was very awkward. She then left again for help I assume. Right as she was about to take our order the phone rang and she ran to answer it. There were at least 2 other people working that could have answered it. Best Indian food in DFW and I have been to literally ALL of them. Beware-- the food is HOT and I love that they don't tone it down for American taste. The only thing lacking is the naan.
