We had spicy dumpling, steamed pork dumpling (soooo good!) and beef fried rice (honestly the best fried rice I've ever had.) everything was flavorful and delicious. We also tried the shrimp.Shumai but neither of us really cared for that but that's OK. Everything else was amazing. It's just a word of caution. Don't come here in the last hour that they're open. They shut the kitchen down before they close and there were items that we were unable to order because the kitchen was shut down with that being my biggest complaint I would say everything else was great and still very worth the while. Finally got a chance to check this out with some friends, and it did not disappoint. It is a smaller venue but when I arrived with a party of 6 we were able to get sat right away. The server was friendly and never let out water run out. As you can tell my the photos we had a bit of everything and everything was delicious. The highlights were: The sweet and spicy porn ribs. They had great flavor and were great for sharing. Not really that spicy so don't let the name fool you. The Shanghai Style Fried Noodles were a hit with everyone. We did chicken and beef and the noodles were perfectly made and the flavors shown through in the dish. Green Beans. I'm not even a veggie person but theses were delicious. The spicy wontons. No one at the table had a bad thing to say about them. The lowlights: Shanghai Fried rice. Not that it was bad just wasn't my style of fried rice. Tasted more scallion forward than I would like. Chili spicy chicken appetizer (not pictured). Again, not that it was bad. It was extremely flavorful but didn't realize it was cold so was taken aback. If you are in the Plano area...you lucked out with this amazing spot. It's a fairly small place with amazing decor and extremely clean. Service is spot on...as in they are ready to help you as soon as you get seated. It was somewhat odd that they gave us a paper to fill out what we wanted. Works out so you know exactly what you are getting. To start, we shared the Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs. These were on the appetizer menu, but what you get was a big serving - so much in fact that we took half of it home. The meat was cooked just right and the flavor was good. Amazing experience. The restaurant is small and cute, but very clean and fresh. You can see the workers prepare the food as you walk in. The food is very clean and sweet. We ordered the 桂花糖藕 and the 鱼香肉丝 which were seasonal items. The food came out fresh. Crab xiaolongbao 蟹小笼包 were really unique and delicious. The dumplings are soup dumplings, so think bursting. We enjoyed bok choy and garlic green beans, in addition to three different types of dumplings and noodles. Their beverage offerings can use improvement. I'd love to see them offer hot tea. It does not appear they have a beer/wine license which could potentially be in the works since my brother said they are fairly new. A cold beer could pair rather nicely with their menu. Service was great! Would definitely recommend if soup dumplings are your jam. Came early on a Sunday at 11:30am. (It was packed by 12:30 - so go early if you have flexibility). Was the first time for a couple of us in our lunch party. Place is cute, comfortable, and small (hence limited seating - several folks were waiting by the time we left). Service was friendly and prompt. Our food came out very quickly. (Seemingly randomly though). We had: pork XLB, veggie dumplings, pan fried, buns, scallion pancakes, wonton soup, hot and sour soup, sautéed shanghai noodles, and sautéed veggies which was Chinese broccoli. The broccoli was well made and tasted good. Highlights were the XLB (not as thinned skin as perfection would have it, but super tasty nonetheless), the scallion pancakes (the dough was flakey, delicious, and perfectly done - we would have liked even more scallions in there, but it was excellent anyway), and the pan fried pork buns (which were not made as traditionally so it was less dough, more compact, super crispy on the bottom, and the inside was filled with tasty broth and the meat was delicious). Wonton soup was standard. Hot and sour soup had lots of good ingredients but was lacking in sourness (needed more vinegar in my view, though one of my friends loved it because it was more "mild" than usual). Noodles were overly greasy but did have a good taste if you could overlook the oil. And 2 out of 3 of us liked the veggie dumplings but they weren't necessarily special in any way. Would definitely recommend this place - prices are reasonable as are the portion sizes. Will be back! read more

We got there on a Saturday around 5-6pm The wait was about 15 minutes, but by 7pm there was no wait at all, even though the place is pretty small. The dumplings were just okay to me. I really liked the fried chicken though, very flavorful. The fried rice was good as well. Fast service. Food wise similar to other dumplings places. Decided to try this out for lunch and so glad we decided to check it out. Restaurant is long and narrow, wouldn't say its for large crowds unless you were the first to come in and take the tables. Everything so good and juicy. Everything was fresh, made to order. There is a window when you first come in and you see them making the dumplings. Everything was 5/5 IMO except for the fried chicken. The fried chicken was 3.5 /5. Again chicken was tender but can have a little more flavor compared to everything else we had. - Soup dumplings were thin, juicy and soup flavor was great. - pan fried dumplings - juicy and love the crunch - Crispy shrimp - nice crunchy shell and it was pulled to the side so it very easy to just eat the shrimp if you don't want to eat the shell -chicken fried rice was again very flavorful and chicken was very moist - chili wonton - not spicy but very good. Whoa!!!! Talk about authentic taste! This place was awesome. The beef noodle soup had a broth that was so clear, so delicious, and so fresh, it tasted like the bone was just pulled from the broth! We actually came here for the dumplings so I was surprised when I enjoyed the noodles we ordered more than our dumplings (which were also very good). I believe it was the scallion oil noodles. Might be one of my favorite dry noodles I've had, very good balance between the noodles and sauce, plus the flavor was yummy. Service was good for us. I am puzzled by all the glowing reviews. Everything seemed to indicate that this place would be great -- 4.5+ stars and a line of people waiting to be seated despite several options in the area. However, in our recent experience, we just kept getting disappointed. First we waited several minutes to be given a menu, and even longer to get water. The menu is like at dim sum places where you use a paper slip and can select the quantity of each item. We got the soy sauce duck, pork xiaolongbao (XLB), scallion pancakes, and chocolate dumplings. The items were served pretty quickly, which was nice, but we could only stare at the XLB since we didn't have any soup spoons. When we asked for some, they gave us stainless steel serving spoons instead. They claimed they were out except we could see two at an empty table right next to us, so it was strange that they didn't give those to us. The XLB itself was decent but I couldn't drink the soup as intended since my spoon could not hold the liquid. The duck was dry and slathered in a thick sauce that made it hard to see that there was bone, and of course there was no knife so I had to improvise with the edge of my spoon (I guess I should be grateful that it's sharper than the soup spoon). The scallion pancakes were the saving grace which I gratefully ate as respite from the duck. Finally, we got to dessert. PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THE CHOCOLATE DUMPLINGS. I have no idea why multiple reviews have raved about a lump of Nutella and banana slice inside a dumpling wrapper, but please don't make the same mistake as we did. read more

My first visit here was around when they first opened last fall and it was BUSY; I recall waiting quite a while before finally being seated in a packed restaurant. However, my second time visiting was several weeks ago and it was much quieter plus we had no wait. The indoor space is quite narrow and small though. In terms of the food, everything we've tried has been really good. In particular, I love the pan fried soup dumplings and would highly recommend them -- the bottom is nice and crispy, and the inside has a delicious pork filling and a ton of soup (be careful when biting into them)! It was the perfect amount of food for one. You do have to be very careful eating the dumplings. My first one squirted soup everywhere!! We just love that the first thing you see upon walking in is staff forming and shaping the delicious dumplings. I enjoy seeing how things are made and it is really genius to be able to see from the waiting area. The place was packed and I understand why even though we ordered take out. I ordered the soy duck appetizer and the beef curry noodle soup and my husband ordered beef with hand pulled noodles. Our hostess was Sean and she was very helpful and sweet to deal with. A true measure of greatness for any Xiao Long Bao (aka Soup Dumpling) is how well it holds when you try to pick it up and how thin it is. It should not be stuck to the parchment paper and broken when you try to pick it up nor should it puncture easily. At Shanghai Taste it is done very well and the filling is just right. We enjoyed everything we ordered (XLB, Shen Jen Bao, beef noodle soup, and spicy wonton in chilli oil) except the spicy wonton in chili oil but thats personal preference as I like it sweeter. Attentive service, affordable, and delicious Shanghainese fare. Total for 2 came out to $40ish and we ordered plenty. read more
