I have long known Fractured Prune as a staple at the OCMD/DE beaches but noticed a few locations pop up in Jersey Shore a few years ago. After years of being loyal to our local shops I decided to try it out. First off, their menu is MASSIVE. Their donuts are similar to many fried donut shops down here where each variety starts as a fresh, hot, fried donut and is then topped with your specific order. However, I have never seen a menu this extensive. Inside, the shop is small but there is ample seating outside. They also travel pretty well and even taste a little better once they have cooled down a bit but more on that later. We ordered a half dozen donuts: Carnival (Honey Glaze, Rainbow Sprinkles), Lumberjack (Maple Glaze, Bacon, Cinnamon Sugar), Peppermint Patty (Mint Glaze, Chocolate Mini Chips), Twix (Chocolate Glaze, Graham Cracker and Caramel Drizzle), Strawberry Shortcake (Strawberry Glaze, Graham Crackers, Powdered Sugar), Vanilla Streusel (special - vanilla glaze w streusel topping). I'm not exaggerating when I say they were HOT. Maybe too hot... they honestly started to taste better as they cooled. These would be better to take home and enjoy in my opinion. All in all, I really enjoyed this place. It doesn't have the same atmosphere as Nauti Donuts or Browns but they are definitely great. The coffee was good. The donuts are made fresh to order and I would like to go back to try the ice-cream filled donut. I had an egg sandwich on an everything bagel. The egg was from the freezer and I was expecting a real egg so that was my thought the bagel would be made fresh in house since it's a similar shape to a donut but they are brought in and we're just ok. Ordered strawberry banana smoothies which were ok and would have been better if it was made with fresh strawberries and bananas. I was disappointed it was from a mix. Great donuts! $18.99 for about a dozen donuts $2.89 for single. Got some donuts for my son's birthday and let him pick out an assortment. We got there early (730am) and there wasn't anyone there in line and took our time picking out what we wanted. I mean there was just quite an assortment to choose from. I also got a coffee which was okay. But they came up piping hot and had our family devour them as I brought them home. Definitely recommend paying a visit if you're in OC. read more

However, they should just stick to the donuts as their specialty and omit the mediocre breakfast sandwiches. These are comparable to Dunkin' Donuts or gas station quality but $8-10 a sandwich. So we were just looking for a breakfast sandwich when Yelp helped us stumble on this shore gem. We walked in and they had a display plate with the featured sandwich of the day and I have to admit I was sold from there. It was a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel with the hash browns in the sandwich. It looked so good I had to try it! While it was being made we looked at the doughnut chart and saw they did homemade specialty donuts. Now normally i just got for a jelly doughnut with sugar on it or a glazed. But seeing how specialty doughnuts are becoming the new craze (Federal Donuts) I needed to try one. I went with the Peanut Butter Cup one! Out came my hot doughnut and then the woman brushed it with the Peanut Butter glaze and then dipped it in mini chocolate chips. OMG was it so good! I am hooked! My breakfast sandwich was as equally as good, adding the hash browns to the sandwich made it so much better. My mouth was so happy on this particular morning. My only regret was that I did not return during my week down the shore I would have loved to try the bacon egg and cheese on a doughnut. Well it's official fracture prunes came in second in the great donut debate of oc 2019. The service was just as good and even though selection of toppings far exceeded the Nauti donuts selection the taste of Nauti donuts can not be beat. I will probably still go to the fractured prune in the future, as they make a quality product that tastes good, but why settle for that when you can be Nauti. You know a place is good when you are waiting in line for your donuts and every other person in line is wearing a shirt repping the establishment. A friend of mine discovered this place and I don't know why I waited so long to give it a try! It probably has something to do with my stint at Ward's Pastry summers when I was in high school! I got a half dozen donuts (and six different flavors) and an egg and cheese on a bagel. There was not a flavor of donut I did not like, but I couldn't really taste the cherry on the cherry chocolate. Simple Ocean Sand was my favorite, followed by daily special, chocolate chip cookie dough. The breakfast sandwich was fine. The bagel was not toasted, to my chagrin. The egg looked like the kind you get on sandwiches at Dunkin Donuts, so I was pleasantly surprised when it tasted great. So when I spent a summer in Ocean City a few years ago, and a friend told me the donuts at Fractured Prune were "the best he'd ever tasted," I was understandably skeptical. Here is what I will say. If anyone were to ask me today where the best donuts I've ever tasted are, I would say, without exception, Fractured Prune. Don't buy them by the dozen to be enjoyed elsewhere. Grab a fork and a knife, order a single one, grab a coffee and sit down outside to enjoy it while it's still warm. To be honest, I do not remember which donuts I have ordered, but I do remember the slight crust on the outside of a warm, fluffy cake donut, icing that was to die for, and an incredible array of flavors you won't find anywhere else. I've had Krispy Kreme. I've had Dunkin. I've tried your local grocery stores and little donut shops all across America. Fractured Prune takes the cake.
