a pie with a crumb topping

It is a very simple basic apple picking place, the donuts and cider were ok but the pie was BOMB. I got a bunch of bug bites at this place unfortunately, but the scenery was nice and virtually no people there (lol). Despite us going the same day as Danielle M., I read her review when we just arrived and she had posted literally 2 hrs before us, so I got concerned, but the staff was really friendly and we were able to get 2 bag full of apples(???) so idk what happened with her there. I mean there were a lot of apples on the floor, but its also nearing the end of apple picking season...

I was visiting my dad who lives in Southampton. He wanted to stop by Bashista Orchards to pick up some of their homemade apple cider donuts. This local, small-town store has some fresh produce, jarred items such as fruit preserves, and freshly baked pies and donuts. They are open year round even though their main crop is apples. They have several different types of apples. The donuts we got good, but not the best I've had.

An absolutely incredible CSA!…read more The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. They go out of their way, even on busy days, to answer any questions you have about the produce, the farm, or anything else about the area that you want to know. They keep the place looking great all season long (both the "you pick" fields and the indoor store. The most attractive thing about this farm share upon first glance was the great hours. You can go Saturdays from 10-3, and W-F from 1-630PM to pick up your share. These hours are unbeatable compared to other CSAs in Western Mass and they make it easier for busy people with odd work schedules to participate, which I appreciate. I also appreciate that they have THREE farm share sizes to chose from. I strongly recommend getting the largest one, and getting a buddy (or buddies) and sharing it, it is a great deal and a ton of produce! The prices and how everything works is clearly spelled out on their website so you can check it out before you head there. The produce selection is also pretty awesome. We are never bored. My favorite part about farm shares is that it forces you to eat way more vegetables than you probably would otherwise, and it also forces you to be creative with recipes and explore new dishes to cook. The U-Pick component is also a lot of fun, especially if you have kiddos. The current U-Pick selection is quite robust, unlike other farm shares where you just pick a handful of items and you're out. The fresh herbs alone are enough to make the U-pick worth every ounce of sweat required to pick them on a hot summer day. Finally, I must comment on the view. I attached some pictures to make that point. Being at the base of Mt Tom provides beautiful views as you are out in the field picking produce. It definitely makes you stop for a moment, take a deep breath, and smile. I strongly recommend this place!

Easthampton Farmers & Makers Market - Tortilla the Tortoise in between the crème brûlée and art booths

"I look like a farmer But I'm a lover…read moreSo you can't judge a book By looking at the cover" (Bo Diddley) If you ever find yourself in the very cool city of Easthampton, MA, be sure to check out their modestly sized Farmer's Market in the heart of downtown. The market is in a parking lot behind 50 Payson Avenue and during the summer it is open on Sundays from 10-2. There is plenty of parking on the streets that surround the market, or in the park across the street. It's a "Producer Focused" market, meaning that the vendors are expected to "grow, raise, produce, or create their products themselves, or they will provide unique products that represent other local farmers". There was live music on site which was a nice addition to the vendor booths that offered local vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, dairy, eggs, grains, nuts, flowers, wine, herbs, crafts, clothing, and specialty products. We saw one food truck on site, from the Wicked Whisk.

We stopped by an art booth which provided kids the opportunity to make a cool craft. It was a bird feeder using a cake cone and a string of Cheerios on a pipe cleaner to act as the holder. This was a very creative idea! The gal running the booth was great and she gave our little friend a bag of bird seed to place inside once we returned home. I also stopped by the Creme Bru.LA booth because I freaking love crème brûlée. I sampled 3/4 flavors: maple, earl grey, and sweet corn. All so tasty! We ended up getting one of each and enjoyed them on this warm day at the picnic tables under a tent. I think this is a unique business idea and wish them well. Check them out on IG: cremebru.la. Also they have a market mascot, a tortoise named Tortilla who is the coolest! She was just wandering around the booths having a grand ol' time.

"I drive fast cars, and I eat fast foods I contain…read moremultitudes" (Bob Dylan) Multitudes sure fits the goods and services available at Fini's. After all, there's not too many places out there that sell fruits, vegetables, flowers and plants, kielbasa dogs, clam rolls, and a full menu of ice cream in all of its glorious frozen variations and permutations. The grounds are eye-strikingly beautiful with flowering flats and hanging baskets everywhere you look. To the far right of the main building is a small produce store with zucchini, watermelon, onions, potatoes, scallions, beans, lettuce, radishes, and more. But the left side of that building was the primary reason we visited Fini's, because that's where the ice cream action is! Cones, shakes, sundaes, banana splits are yours to enjoy at a reasonable price and a pretty generous portion. It's always an adventure when you order a Kids sized cone, because some are scaled to an itty-bitty Lilliputian-sized portion, and some are supersized. Their $4.50 Kid cone was on a regular sized Sugar Cone and sure looked to me like more than two scoops. Our cone selections were Strawberry Cheesecake and Almond Joy. Fini's ice cream was very good- great flavor that was smooth and creamy, without a trace of ice particles. What a cool place to visit!
