Bashista is a wonderful apple orchard located in Easthamoton. They are local growers and also bake fresh homemade goods on premises. They are famous for their apple cider donuts. In season you can find apples, pears and plums. Their pies are always baked deliciously. The crust is superb. My favorite is fruits of the forest. If you are lucky you can find beautiful handmade items by local artisans. There is also someone behind the counter ready to ring you up with a smile. It is a very simple basic apple picking place, the donuts and cider were ok but the pie was BOMB. I got a bunch of bug bites at this place unfortunately, but the scenery was nice and virtually no people there (lol). Despite us going the same day as Danielle M., I read her review when we just arrived and she had posted literally 2 hrs before us, so I got concerned, but the staff was really friendly and we were able to get 2 bag full of apples(???) so idk what happened with her there. We took a ride here today for the first time as the website makes it look like a lot of fun. Not so. There are only parking spots for about twenty cars so was shocked at how small the place is. There isn't anything to do, so don't go with children with the idea that they will be entertained at all. The baked goods are fine, and I am a big fan of the pumpkin cinnamon donuts. There was not much of a donut selection on the counter so went with what was there. I also saw people with pies but didn't see where they were actually coming from. The place is very drab and worn compared to the online pictures. Oh, well, so maybe we can have a donut and some cider and then stroll around the orchard, which has a nice open field surrounded by fruit trees. Unfortunately, there were "do not enter" signs everywhere, so clearly they don't want people taking a walk. Overall, I'd call it a bust. There are much better orchards to hit up in this part of New England. read more

Went with a few friends for apple picking. $20 for a small bag with 14 rows of apples. We took a photo of the map as suggested. Many trees were bare, with apples mainly on the ground. Majority of trees had rotten apples (to be fair we are going late in the season). Of the small group of trees that did have apples, a quick taste test and we discovered they were watery and flavorless. Having each paid $20 per bag and only collecting a total of half a bag, we headed back to the shop for some help. I explained to the man at the counter that we were having trouble finding apples and that several rows had rotten apples or none at all. Rather than being met with guidance and assistance, the man began treating us as if we were stupid saying "well if you look at the map, which you took a picture of, you could see this row here, which you would know if you looked at the picture you took, has some apples. If you actually looked at your picture of the map." I told him we did not appreciate his attitude and he replied with "just returning the favor" ...as paying customers it is completely reasonable to come to employees for guidance if we are having trouble, that's not attitude it's called customer service. We left with no apples and a refund. Would have been happy to follow his suggestions, but his patronizing attitude was unacceptable and childish. Will not be returning or recommending this to anyone. read more

I was visiting my dad who lives in Southampton. He wanted to stop by Bashista Orchards to pick up some of their homemade apple cider donuts. This local, small-town store has some fresh produce, jarred items such as fruit preserves, and freshly baked pies and donuts. They are open year round even though their main crop is apples. They have several different types of apples. The donuts we got good, but not the best I've had. read more

Maybe I am a bit biased because I grew up my entire life going to Bashista's, but I have been all around New England and nothing quite compares. First of all, they're open year round. Want apple bread in April? They've got you covered. Cold cider to heat up for Christmas? Good to go! The apple picking experience is great. They have a very large orchard and there is absolutely no shortage of good ones to pick. Just be aware it can be a bit hilly and may not be the best for the elderly and handicapped, but it really isn't too big of an issue. As with any place, getting their earlier in the season (I find mid-September to be perfect but it of course varies by year) will obviously give you a wider variety of pickings. The food made there is second to none. The cider donuts are the best in the valley, if not Massachusetts. The same can be said for the apple bread! If I go there and don't come back with a loaf, my wife wants my head!!! They do sell out fast, however, a quick call in the morning will get a loaf of bread of dozen of donuts placed aside with your name on it without any issues. Lastly, the cider... you can't beat it. Anywhere. I promise. All in all, I'll close by saying my parents brought me here, and now I bring my daughter here. It'll remain a family tradition for a very, very, very long time to come. read more

Open year round, 7 day! When shopping for local pies, this is the place. Their Fruits of the Forest pie is off the chain!! A staple on an dessert table, so delicious. Okay, I love small businesses, local farms, etc etc. The employees were really helpful at explaining the apple types, when asked. In fact, we had a guy kind of follow us around, our own apple concierge. Cool. But what was extremely disappointing was their apple cider! This has to be the worst apple cider I have ever tasted! It just tasted like watered down bad apple juice. I insisted on getting a half gallon, because I didn't want to get stuck with a gallon (especially since we knew we'd be hitting up other orchards/farms this fall) but my husband insisted on getting one gallon of this stuff. "Apple cider is always good." Famous last words. The juice did not taste fresh, was overly sweet, and did not have any of the sediments/earthiness that real fresh cider has. It was worse than what is available for purchase at Wal-Mart and Target. DO NOT GET THE APPLE CIDER. read more

I passed this orchard on a work related errand and decided to drive over a half hour out of the way to take my son there over the weekend because it looked beautiful and the thought of donuts sounded appealing. Disappointed was an understatement. You walk in and the whole place smells like delicious donuts but the women behind the counter refuse to sell any from the racks and racks of fresh ones, you can only buy the cold pre-packaged ones on the counter that they claim are fresh but there's no way to tell. They ignored both myself and another customer standing at their counter for over five minutes and then were very rude to us inquiring about the fresh donuts. The donuts ended up being plain and boring and made me regret not just going to Randalls or Atkins for a much superior product and customer service. I hate giving small businesses a bad review but when multiple employees are rude to you and other customers, you don't feel good shopping at them. read more

Best place hands down in Western Mass for apple cider and fresh hot cider donuts. Worth the trip. Coffee could use some improvement so I would suggest you bring your own for when you get those delicious bakery treats out to your car. Oh... they also sell fruit... read more

We were there on Sunday (9/25/16). Absolutely disgusted by the apple picking experience. Only 2 rows of trees to pick from, which were all bare with the exception of rotten or fallen apples. They had plenty of other trees which had large ripe apples on them, but when we and other families attempted to pick them we were quickly approached by a very hostile and rude woman who scolded us and forced us to pick from rotten selection. When I asked for a refund of the extremely outrageous amount of money i had paid for a bag I was told no, which is disgusting since we left with only being able to pick less than half of what we paid for. Do yourselves a favor and avoid this horrible place. read more

Fantastic Local Store & Orchard! I ordered a homemade apple pie for Easter & it was THE BEST APPLE PIE we have ever had locally! The crust was so flaky & it melted in your mouth! So delicious! The store is great. Tons of homemade food, desserts, local grass fed beef, local foods, fresh coffee, anything & everything...just great. Spring is here & I cannot wait to start getting their fresh homegrown veggies & even more fruit! If you haven't been there - go - really nice family run place. A local gem for sure! read more
