I guess it's time I gave this review an update! We had a team lunch at work a couple of weeks ago and since we haven't seen each other in a while, we decided to order lunch. A few had suggested Basil Box and since I'd only been there once, I was game for another go. I took my time to peruse their menu online and created a bowl that was excellent! It's also nice to have all of the nutritional information as well since I track of my caloric intake. We used a food deliver app and it was really easy to place our order. Our food was fresh and delicious not to mention, I was really happy with my selection. I will definitely order from them again.

This place is great in terms of dietary accommodations - a lot of Dairy Free and Gluten Free options and decently sized positions which keep you full but aren't over indulgent. They offer different spice levels. We got the pad thai "medium" spicy which was a mistake. Didn't taste anything like a regular pad thai and more like a spicy noodle dish which was fine. Garlic Rice Silog was good and satisfying but not the best I've ever had. Overall, a good experience if you need a quick bite to eat where you can order take out style but also sit in and have dietary accommodations.

Update: thanks to Basil box for inviting me again. I tried Garlic Rice Silog this time: vegetarian and chicken version for same. Being a vegetarian, I tried this dish with Tofu as protein. It was a bed of rice, with sautéed tofu, a fried egg, pickled carrots and onions and you can then top it with sauces of your choice. We had sweet mayo and Thai sweet and sour sauces. Likewise was chicken version except that there was Chicken as protein in stead of Tofu. Tofu dish was amazing. The coating on tofu was so flavourful yet not very spicy. You can of course top it with additional chilly big you prefer spicy. I personally liked this dish a lot, however my partner didn't like his chicken version much as he complained of dryness again despite topping it with both additional sauces. We both would love to return for Tofu Rice Silog as our lazy day takeouts.

If you have a love for Southeast Asian flavors such as Thailand and Vietnam thebasilbox is the place for you. They have a huge selection on their menu which focuses on a healthier lifestyle and concept with a fresh selection of vegetables, proteins and toppings all in a buildable bowl that you can customize. I was also impressed to learn that they use minimal oil and salt and no MSG in their food. They currently also have an exciting menu from streetkitchenbybasilbox which is their sister brand which is based on your classic comfort foods with a twist. These include their popular Mac N cheese with an Asian twist, pad Thai and fried rice and much more. Tastethouse which is has recently their Yonge and Finch location along side thebasilbox is currently offering 25% off all drinks everyday! They offer a unique selection of handcrafted drinks with unique twists. My personal favorite was their signature milk tea with purple rice, oats and red beans. It tasted super healthy and like a dessert rather than a drink. It's been awhile since I've been to Basilbox and I'm surprised that they have soo many food options now. I usually get the regular make your own box meals but I got the bao and fried rice this time. The bao were pretty bomb and the chicken in it was thick! The fried rice was okay. The meals before were already expensive for what it is but seeing that they went up in price again has me second guessing if I would come back

Saw that this place opened up across Goodlife, so came here for lunch after a workout to try it out. I really like the open layout and big windows. Great for doing some work if you work well at coffee shop environments, and they have wifi! The menu is entirely build-your-own. It has something for omnivores, vegetarians, and vegans. I got my bowl with half greens/half noodles and tofu. It was tasty, but not out-of-this-world. I would also have liked the serving to be a little bit larger for the price (almost $12). I feel like the servings at Freshii are larger for a lower price. I also ordered a Thai ice tea which was yum! It was a little sweet for my liking, but that's because I don't eat a lot of sugar. Overall: Healthy food option in the area, but a little pricey.

Very beautiful location. This is my third location I've been to and the food/service is definitely on par with the other locations. Friendly staff, clean and spacious restaurant, and awesome food! I'm not the biggest fan of tofu in general but that's all I eat when I come here because it's made that good. Great food would be mediocre if service lacked but kudos to management for hiring such friendly and welcoming staff at each location I've been to. Will definitely come back and will continue to recommend Basil Box.

This is my go to place for a healthy yet yummy meal!! It's conveniently located outside of Finch Station, and has a great interior w/ free fast wifi!! I always get the lemongrass chicken bowl, which is delicious and filling every time. The portions are generous, staff are informative and welcoming and even though it's a bit on the pricier side, you're getting a great bang for your buck - quality ingredients and a great experience overall!!

I noticed this place opened recently and wanted a healthier dinner so decided to give it a try. It's my first time at a basil box so I wasn't sure the ordering process but the worker there was very friendly and walked me through it. The portion was a bit smaller than I would have liked. I feel like it the amount of food you get depends on the person making your food. I also ordered the lychee passion fruit drink and it tasted artificial but good lol. The food was good and also inspired lunches I can make for work haha. Overall the food was pretty good, i would probably come back if I'm in the mood for a healthier lunch option.

I decided to order with the app since I was on the go. The app's interface was very clean and simple to use, would recommend since parking is very limited around there. My order was ready within 10 mins after I placed it. I ordered brown rice, sauteed peppers, charred sweet potatoes, lemongrass chicken, pickled veggies, cripsy shallots, roasted sesame seeds, fresh herbs, penang curry, crushed peanuts, sirracha spiced pumpkin seeds and fresh thai chillies. The ingredients in the bowl were fresh and tasty. The portion was very generous just wish they gave a bit more protein since they give you a lot of rice and the Penang curry was pretty spicy which I didn't mind. Overall, the app was very simple to use and the food was very tasty with a generous portion. Would definitely go back in the future.

Great concept if you are looking for something on the healthier side but still with lots of flavour. You pick your grain, your protein and some toppings and make the bowls how you want. It can get a little pricey if you add extras but it seems pretty hard to get a decent meal for much less than $15 these days. Definitely worth a try.

I was dining solo today, so I only ordered one dish: the Khao Soi Soft‑Shell Crab, which was marked as a recommended item on the menu. The curry noodle soup itself was delicious, with that classic Thai‑style sweet curry flavour. But the protein‑to‑noodle ratio was disappointing. It was a serious noodle overload, noodles in the soup plus a pile of crispy fried egg noodles on top. Carb coma incoming. The toppings were minimal: a few bean sprouts and a small fried soft‑shell crab. The crab was tasty, but overall the dish didn't feel like good value for the price. It's something I'm glad I tried once, but I'd move on to another dish next time.

He had the fried chicken wings & said they were delicious. When I arrived I ordered the beef pad thai. It came relatively quickly & was really delicious. I would definitely come back & try some other dishes. Service I was surprised that my husband & I were the only people in the restaurant. Hubby said that they had been doing mostly take out orders. In any case, service was attentive & polite. There was a young man who took my order and another lady who was preparing things around the restaurant. It was relaxed and a nice atmosphere. Ambiance It's very colourful inside the restaurant. The walls are painted with cute designs. I liked it. The washrooms are down the hall on the main level. I didn't like how cluttered that hallway is though. I hope they clear away some of the restaurant supplies from that hallway to the bathroom. The women's washroom was clean. However one of the cabinets in the washroom was full of dust on the top. It's kind of strange because the toilet & sink itself were very clean. Overall I think if they did a few improvements I would rate the ambiance of the restaurant better than 3.5. The food & service were otherwise really good here. Next time I'm in the area I will come back & try a different dish.

I'll try to be descriptive! The restaurant is really pretty. I like the decor and clean look and feel. Servers are really nice and super attentive. They noticed we had a toddler and gave us options for cutlery and cups to make sure whatever they gave him was safe. I loved that! They also were able to easily accommodate a gluten free requirement. We got the grand appetizer platter to share which was really good. Lots of variety and the sauces that came with them were great. I particularly liked the fried calamari and the spring rolls. My family devoured the triangle tofu pieces. The shrimp skewers were also really nice. Well cooked and seasoned. The coconut soup was light and flavorful. It's actually a great portion in those square bowls. We ordered 3 pad thais for our huge table and there was not really much left over. Noodle texture was nice and chewy and the flavors were sweet, tangy, and savory. I kinda wish it was more noodles to meat, which I know is probably opposite of what most people like. But I really really like noodles and basically just want noodles hahaha! We also tried the stir fry glass noodles. I absolutely love glass noodles so I'm very biased to say I enjoyed it a lot. It was savory and a bit spicy. I liked all the veggies they mixed in there for more texture and taste. It has a really good stir fry flavor too. We also ordered the massumum curry which was really creamy and flavorful. I really enjoyed that one mixed with some rice or into my noodles. It's not too spicy, a bit nutty and sweet. I'm a huge fan. We went with chicken for almost everything and my only feedback really about that is that the chicken was really over cooked and dry in some dishes. The few dishes with shrimp were nicer and maybe next time I would try beef. Over all, would come back! Then maybe I can take photos before I eat. Haha!!

I reserved a month in advance for my husband and I to eat at 6:00, and the restaurant steadily filled up during the course of our dinner. This, on a Monday night, is surprising, and a testimony to Pai's popularity. The interior of the restaurant is quite beautiful and welcoming, betraying its somewhat sketchy location above the Rose and Crown Pub. Sure enough, we were not disappointed by our meal. We started with some deep fried tofu bites, and these were really crispy and a delicious way to prepare tofu. It was a perfect, light appetizer. Then, on to the main course: My husband ordered Chicken Pad See Ew, and it had the thickest noodles that I'd ever seen in this dish. I wasn't sure what to expect! I tried a bite, and it was so tasty, with a variety of textures and a slightly smoky flavour. The thick noodles were beautifully cooked and complemented the dish very well. To my surprise, it was one of the better renditions of Pad See Ew (my usual go-to at Thai restaurants) that I've tried. I ordered the Khao Soi, with both shrimp and tofu (they kindly obliged, with an extra charge for the shrimp). This was unlike anything I'd ever seen, and its presentation was spectacular, with it's golden curry sauce and plume of fried egg noodles. My first several bites were superb: the fragrant, coconut flavored curry sauce perfectly complemented the noodles, shrimp and particularly the toful. On another occasion, I think that I would just order the tofu. Eventually, I found the richness of the sauce too have overwhelmed me, and I took the rest home. With its really spectacular amount of coconut curry sauce, it was excellent the next day with some additional tofu and steamed rice. All in all, very satisfactory, and our waiter was really pleasant and informative about the food. Was it worth reserving a month in advance? I'd say yes, it was, as Pai presents an excellent interpretation of Thai food, and the presentation of the the Khao Soi alone was worth the wait! Not to mention, we had a whole meal the next day from the leftovers! We will come back when we are in the area, if we can get in!!

I saw a little stage in the corner so it looked like they had live performances too. Unfortunately there was no one performing at the time we came, but I'd love to dine there and experience that next time. I ordered the Pad Thai Chicken with medium spice, and my boyfriend got the Khao Soi with Chicken. Our food was wonderful. My entree was sweet, savory, and had that umami flavor. It had such a rich combination of all those flavors combined. Also the portion size was huge, you definitely pay for the quality and the portion. My boyfriend's Khao Soi was delicious. The broth was coconut-y, creamy, and the flat noodle absorbed so much flavor from the broth. When we were done, all we had left was the broth and we even took that to go. I love that we both had leftovers. All in all, we had a great time. I would definitely come back again.
