Greek salad was so-so but no points awarded here because salad is pretty hard to mess up. The pesto pasta was so overcooked the pasta was mushy. The pesto sauce was bland and oily. I know the taste of fresh pesto and this was undeniably from a jar. I sensed our server could tell I wasn't loving it because I barely ate and didn't want a box, but she just avoided eye contact and moved us along quickly. The restaurant itself looked shabby/unclean and I wondered if we should have gotten the food to go. When a gentleman began playing the accordion loudly next to our table, we hurried up and left. Visiting here for NASCAR, and my family comes here when they are in. So we met here. I believe the owner originates from NY. So being a NY'r I must say the food was excellent. The restaurant was really crowded. We had reservations, but had to wait. But that's ok. We sat outside and had a drink. We started w some appetizers for the table. Then everyone ordered their own entree. There was so much food. We had mussels, rice balls, meatballs, and the trio of fried mozzarella, shrimp, and a bruschetta. I had the chicken picatta over angel hair. The small portion was pretty full! My friend got the Ckn parm (large portion). My son had the lamb chop special. Other people got, primavera, pesto, a salad w grilled Ckn, shrimp parm, cavatelli w broc and sausage. I couldn't go around taking all these pics! I hesitate to write this but as someone who worked in the restaurant industry from bussing tables to general manager I feel compelled. We arrived at about 7:45 on Saturday and were immediately sat. I'd seen this place on Queens Feast list and while we didn't go during that I was excited to try it. The physical dining room is very small and the bar is large in the middle of the dining room. It had approximately 10 to 15 tables inside with a handful of tables outside. We were immediately greeted by our server who also brought a basket of what I'm assuming are considered garlic knots. They were delicious whatever you want to call them. Everything went down hill from there. We ordered water and calamari. We were given little glasses of water which struck me as odd because the other tables around us had full sized glasses. Turns out my glass was chipped. No biggie, it happens. However it took me 6 min approximately to flag down someone to get it swapped out. It was at this point I pulled out my stopwatch to track time stamps. More for me than anything else because we all know once we are annoyed we tend to over exaggerate. The new water was dropped off by someone that was not our server, which is fine. The calamari was dropped off quickly by a third person, again fine. It was then 15 minutes before our server came back. I had to again ask someone to please send our server. We order and my husband asks for a sprite. Now, because I've been in the service industry I am paying close attention. Is the server in the weeds? Do they have this larger party? No. Neither. I'm looking for a reason that the server would be busy so I can rationalize what is quickly becoming bad service. She was standing behind the bar leaning on the counter. While I was observing I noticed two more troubling things. First, two people at the bar, sitting, in a Basilico shirt. Both drinking. And a person behind the bar, also drinking. In all reality they could have been off the clock. But the more concerning aspect of this is that the employee behind the bar was drinking and one of the people at the bar in the company shirt reached across the bar, grabbed a bottle of Clase Azul (expensive reposado tequila), opened it, PUT THEIR NOSE IN IT and took a big whiff. Then, put the lid back on and put it back behind the bar. For 7 minutes I watched our server stand around. The rest of our dinner was dropped off by a runner. I asked again for the sprite we had requested. The server finally brought it. I had ziti, my husband had chicken parmesan. The server checked on us twice more. Once to drop of the check and once to pick it up. There's an opportunity to provide feedback directly to the restaurant on the bottom of the receipt, which I did. But I write this because I hope that the owner and or managers see this and make the needed changes; included but not limited to training for staff on customer service and a refresher on ALE compliance. I also write this to tell anyone who reads it to not order a drink with Clase Azul from this place because someone put their nose in the bottle. I don't typically write reviews, but after experiencing some of the WORST food poisoning in my life, I feel compelled. I ordered the chicken parm and a Tuscan salad Sunday evening and ate both by around 7:30. 6-8 hours later, as I'm going to bed, a really bad headache begins and pressure starts building up inside my head, as if my brain was swelling up. Eventually my stomach began to twist and cramp inside my lower abdomen. This led to extreme nasuea and eventual vomiting. 2 hours pass and my temperature has risen to 100 F. Currently at this point I'm laying on the bathroom floor next to the toilet in fear I might not make it in time from the bed if I have to vomit again. I fall asleep there, only to be woken up by shooting pains in my stomach again. Now my fever has risen to 102.6 F. That night lasted forever and I never really got any good sleep. I missed work on Monday and had a POUNDING headache the entire day. Finally, on Tuesday, do I feel better and back to my normal self. Stay far away from this place. They used to be good before Covid hit but ever since I've been back, they've had poor service and now literally inedible food. read more

This place was fantastic! We will absolutely be back. We enjoyed our dining experience. The atmosphere was great. It was very welcoming. It was also very clean. They have a 98.0 sanitation grade. The decor was modern/Tuscan and pretty. They use cloth napkins and the servers are nicely dressed in black attire. When we arrived a hostess promptly sat us a booth. Under our napkin and silverware was a bread plate. We quickly learned that it for the basket of miniature garlic knots that was delivered to the table. They were tasty! Our server also delivered to us a water glass and a wine bottle filled with refrigerated water. She took our orders and made helpful suggestions. I ordered the Chicken Piccata and my wife ordered the Lobster Ravioli. Our food was delivered to our table by our server. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Our order was correct and our food was piping hot. My dish was delicious. The sauce paired with angel hair pasta was heavenly. My wife's ravioli was equally as good. I even had an extra garlic knot to sop up a little of the sauce. They also offered some amazing looking desserts. We had no room for dessert even though we ordered the small dinner portions. I ordered the bruschetta and the chicken and bacon Alfredo. Bruschetta - they packaged everything separately. Bread, tomatoes, cheese and sauce, which I really appreciate. The flavors were good. The bread was just overdone. I understand that bruschetta calls for a toasted bread but this was past crouton texture. It hurt my teeth to eat. Alfredo - I will say that the sauce is soooo good. I like the idea of bacon being added to this. I even ordered extra Alfredo sauce for a dollar more but it wasn't necessary. There was more than enough sauce. The chicken was overdone though. There were bits that I ate that tasted burnt. There wasn't enough pasta but there was a lot of meat, usually it's the other way around for me when I order chicken Alfredo. But overall it was pretty good. The sauce is just amazing. Overall I would give this restaurant another try. It tasted pretty good I just wish it wasn't as cooked as it was. Restaurant Week is cause for celebration! Basilico is on the list and one that I've had on my list for a good long while to try. I should tell you we didn't order off of the Restaurant Week menu while we were there, but their offerings were amazing. They just didn't have the salad and dessert I wanted. Even ordering individually, we came out just as well or better by ordering individually. When we arrived, the place was packed. They seated us right next to the singer for the night, and I was apprehensive. I was concerned that it would be too much, I wouldn't be able to hear my partner and frankly lots of different noises at once is distracting. And it did get a tiny bit much at times, with customers coming up to sing with the singer, but this place had such a family vibe I didn't even mind, and actually enjoyed it! We all sang happy birthday to 3 different people that night, and you could see in their faces they loved it. Our server was great! She earned her money too, because this place was full! She took our drink orders quickly and checked on us frequently. Other servers jumped in when necessary to help, too. Love that family atmosphere. They bring you complimentary rolls with marinara sauce to begin your meal. These might have been my favorite part of the meal! They are just amazing! Warm, crusty on the outside but so tender inside. They are dusted with Parmesan cheese which makes them just a little bit salty. A perfect foil for that tangy marinara sauce. We both had the Wedge salad. I don't know what it is about the wedge, but I love its simplicity. This was a great example of a Wedge, not too much blue cheese, plenty of bacon, very fresh. On this occasion my wedge of lettuce did have the core still in it, but I swiftly removed the offending piece and proceeded to enjoy. Our entrees were just amazing. My Chicken Marsala was so tender and juicy! I asked for a little side of the marinara to eat my noodles with and mixed with that sweet Marsala sauce for a perfect bite! My friend had the linguine with clams and it was equally delicious! Even though we were so stuffed we ordered the famous zeppoli. This fried dough with powdered sugar sprinkled on top comes with two dipping sauces: chocolate and caramel. It was so darn good, people were looking and pointing and the table next to us asked us what it was! I gave her one to try and she ordered one for her table, too. It was just a comforting delight. One of the best Italian restaurants in the Charlotte/Concord area. The absolute best fried mozzarella that I've had since moving to NC over 2 years ago. The restaurant itself is located in a strip mall but do not let it fool you. Inside is a nice, casual dining area complete with outside seating for warmer evenings. Their red sauce is the best I've had out at a restaurant in the south. That's coming from someone who's tried a lot, ALOT of Italian and pizza places in Charlotte. Their lunch special is a steal allowing 2 items for $10 and is a great way to sample a variety of things at the restaurant. We'd ordered out from here since covid but we went back inside again this weekend and it was a excellent experience! The waitress was new, but on point. The food was delicious and fast, we got to look at actual menus (forgot what that felt like) and enjoyed some entertainment. I ordered bruschetta and lasagna ravioli and they were both simply delicious and well presented. My only complaint is I tried to order cappuccino after dinner and was told they only had regular coffee That's odd for an Italian place but hopefully they'll add that in to the menu one day! read more

Potential to be very good or great but service suffers because of under staffing. Went here today for Sunday Brunch and I must stay, the place has potential but during our visit, we only saw two employees and service suffered as a result. We walked in about 12:30 on Sunday. We got out of Church at 10:30 but restaurant was listed as not opening till Noon on Sunday so went shopping first. No big deal. We walked in and there were a couple of tables occupied but no employees in sight. Finally a gentleman came out who I assume was the Owner/Chef and told us we could sit anywhere we wanted and our server would be with us shortly. We found a table, sat down and waited and about 4 minutes later, he showed up. Restaurant started to get other patrons as well but our server and the owner were the only two employees we every saw. Our server brought our menu, and took our drink orders and when they showed up, my wife sent her coffee back because it was cold. A/C was working a bit two well so hot coffee would have been welcomed. Looking over the menu, not expansive but still provides a good range. Generally portion sizes are offered in two sizes, Full (Individual) and Family which I assume they are trying to do a variation on Buca De Beppa. Both of us ended up ordering the Full size since there were only two of us. My wife ordered the Chicken Francese but she asked if they could hold the pasta and let her have a Side Salad. My wife is Our Lady of the Perpetual Diet. Compliments to restaurant in permitting her to do this. Good Flexibility. I must be related to Garfield the Cat because I ordered my favorite, Lasagna. It was very good with a good meat sauce and surrounded by a tangy Marinara. Only down side was that the pasta was a bit dry indicated that while probably homemade, it had been made previously and had been reheated. Still it was very good and I ate it all. My wife also liked her salad in that it was a nice balance between greens, veggies and a nice tangy dressing. The Chicken Francese at least according to here was excellent. The Cuisine on the whole was very good and I would return for that alone. Nice atmosphere and there is a side room available that could accommodate a nice private party, business meeting or civil meeting. This is one of those places you want to see exceed because the food is good but they need to focus on the rest of the aspects of hospitality such as service. Walk in the door and you'll immediately be treated as a regular. We arrived for dinner and were promptly greeted and escorted to dinner (tip - reservations on weekends!). My fiancé and I were out last night it was our first time at this establishment we went at about 8-830pm. The service was good. I got the chicken marsala, he got the salmon. Both were good last night. HOWEVER as sit here now nibbling on my leftover Marsala I put a piece of chicken in my mouth and something didn't feel right. I pull out a HUGE piece of some kind of plastic wrap out of my mouth. Absolutely disgusting. The part that disgusts me the most is these are my leftovers - did I ingest small pieces of plastic last night at the restaurant and not even know it?! It took a few minutes to get that, and the area to pIck up orders is at the end of the bar by the kitchen, so it feels like you're in the way a bit while you wait. Got the food home and dove in. Presentation was good, especially considering it's food in foil containers. Two in our group order here a lot and really like it. One of them got the Penne Ala Vodka with an addition of blackened chicken. The sauce was flavorful without being too heavy. The other frequent diner got Veal Parmesan. It was a decent sized piece of veal, tender, with generous breading if that's to your liking. I prefer mine a bit lighter. My wife got the Harvest Salad and added shrimp for $6, but when she got it home there were only 2. A bit pricey for a shrimpy order. I was going to get a dish, but they were out of it when we called a bit before 6, so I opted for Spaghetti and Meatballs. The sauce was a very nicely flavored crushed tomato concoction that I highly recommend. The meatballs were also very good, and there WERE 3 of them. The pasta was over cooked, so it was just OK. What a great experience I had at Basilico Italiano. This sweet family owned Italian restaurant is very a hidden gem that needs to be shared. I never heard of Basilico until a friend invited me to dinner and I did my research. They are located in co concord in a new and developing neighborhood. Walking in I immediately noticed the patio bulbs lights and comfy chairs. As I entered the restaurant I was immediately greeted and welcomed. The staff took me to my group and I scanned the menu. Menu The options were endless and had a option for everyone. I'm currently eating a few more vegan options while eating out so my eye ventured over to the eggplant parmigiana. It sounded delicious and from the photos on yelp it appeared to be a hit. We ordered a few appetizers to start and several glasses of wine. Appetizers Baked Meatballs - my personal favorite Shrimp Scampi - nice jumbo shrimp and great for sharing Bruschetta - was good but not my fave but I enjoyed it. Entrees We each order entrees so we could could sample each other's. Pretty simple tasty but not outstanding. I ordered veal marsala husband ordered chick parm. Husband was very happy with his dinner. I was underwhelmed. This was our first time visiting. We felt like family as soon as we walked in. We were greeted with a warm smile and the hostess even complimented us. It has a very warm and inviting atmosphere. They started us out with delicious, hot garlic knots. I ordered the primavera pasta with grilled shrimp and my husband ordered lobster ravioli. The primavera had a generous amount of vegetables (zucchini and red peppers) which I loved. Both were delicious and flavorful! Most dishes come in a small and large portion size.
