I've been here several times but just haven't ever reviewed it. Razzoo's has a nice Cajun atmosphere. Great aesthetic on the inside and plenty of zydeco playing in the background. However it never really feels like I can relax and enjoy that ambience because it seems they really try to get you in and out as fast as possible. On this visit I ordered the grilled alligator. Overall it was good but it was a fair bit too salty. I know a lot of restaurants do that on purpose to make their patrons thirsty and order more drinks. But I think too much salt detracts from the flavor of the dish. Now that being said, our waitress seemed not to want us to stay longer and order more. She didn't ask if we wanted to order more drinks, she didn't ask if we wanted dessert, she only provided ice water when it was asked for, and she did seem to be in a hurry to give us the check. Business dinner for two. Looking for something good and the area and decided to give Razzoo's a try. Nice large parking lot. Seated immediately. Nice Cajun decor. Started out with disappointment when they didn't have any Abita beer. Hard to be a Cajun place without Abita. Menu seems to be fitted for a chain style restaurant. I ended up ordering seafood gumbo and the jumbo fried shrimp off the appetizer menu. Brett had the fish and shrimp platter. I found the gumbo to be bland. The shrimp were ok. The dipping sauce for the shrimp was tasty. The tea was good and service was inexperienced but good in spite. My tea glass ran dry and Brett never got asked if he wanted another beverage. Mediocre. Idk if I am being biased but this is like a chain restaurant type of vibe. It's a place you go to when you have out of town guests that do not require much. My home girl was telling me that this is one of her fav places but after leaving I began questioning her tastebuds lol. Now I must say I tried to be open minded but my favorite out of the entire dining experience were the rat toes. It's jalapeños stuffed with seafood mush (crab & shrimp I believe) and fried. They're big and you get about 5. Enough to share or devour on your own. The dirty rice is made with pork! The green beans is made with pork! Damn near everything has pork in it which limited my food options. I chose the stuffed shrimp. It has the same mushy insides as the rat toes. It comes with white rice but they can swap it for dirty rice, green beans, and garlic bread. I heard it tastes better with the dirty rice so if you eat pork, go for it! I subbed the green beans for corn cobb. Boring! The shrimp would be better if they didn't use that mushy stuffing, I was expecting lump crab or something more worthwhile. The sauce was where the flavor was and they didn't give enough for the shrimp and rice. Considering rice is dry you would like they would give enough sauce. The corn was basic. The garlic toast seemed like it was previously frozen, like the texas toast brand. I had a henny southern peach drink but it was giving tourist vibes. A cute cup and with lots of ice, syrup and little liquor. The parking lot fills up quickly and traffic is the worst on the weekends since it's across the street from the mall. read more

We started with the Boudin balls. They have a little spice and are nice and crispy. I have the étouffée combo with a salad. The étouffée is my usual order because very few restaurants make that dish. I liked that it had the crawfish, shrimp and fish. The salad was a good accompaniment because étouffée can be quite rich. They were out of oysters so next time I hope they have them. First time here and they have a lot of parking. It's a big place so plenty of seating. They have lunch special prices which is nice. I got the shrimp etoufee for 9.99. It was enough to fill me up. I wasn't able to try anything else but they have a good bit on their menu. Their dessert also looks good. The place is nice, like very southern Cajun style. Staff was nice and attentive considering it was slow time. No issues. Next time I go I would like to try other things. read more

Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there. The macaroni and cheese was bland and unappetizing. I tried adding salt and pepper to improve it, but it didn't help. To make matters worse, I didn't receive any shrimp with my meal, even though it was supposed to be included. The catfish was disappointing, it had a strong fishy taste and contained bones, making it difficult to enjoy. Updated: I have been back a few more times since my last review and the last few times my food has been made correctly and was delicious. The last two times I have gone to pick up my food. I have had to wait a few minutes for someone to greet me and handover my order that I could see was sitting right there behind the counter, but overall a pretty decent experience. read more

This time, I tried their Stuffed Shrimp with Dirty Rice, instead of White Rice. This plate included Garlic Bread and a side item of choice (I picked Green Beans). Absolutely HAD to review my experience this weekend! We popped in with a party of 13. There really wasn't the room or staff for us at that moment on a Sunday, however, Manager Rachel chatted with servers and made it happen. We were seated quickly and our server Mo was dynamite!! Both these women were professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and treated us like the most important customers. The food and drinks were gorgeous, delicious, and very reasonably priced. We were here on Black Friday. The restaurant wasn't full, and there were tables open. My husband is from Louisiana, and was really looking forward to their Cajun lunch. The meal started out okay. We got our drinks and had a really good appetizer, Cajun Queso. Unfortunately, that is where the good experience ended. I think something happened with our orders because an hour later they hadn't appeared. I asked the manager to check on the orders because my server was no where to be found. Finally I'm back! It's been over 15 years since I was last here only because my husband hears Cajun and flips out. If you like spicy this is your spot but even if you don't you'll still get to eat well. My Mom wanted to treat me for my bday so I chose Razoos since I haven't been in sooo long. My mom wanted a burger so she was good as there were three options on the menu. As for me, hard time deciding soooo many options. I love that there are so many items on the menu you can not get anywhere else. I got my mom to try the gator. Her face was frowning the whole time but SHE GOBBLED IT DOWN She enjoyed her burger with bacon and bbq sauce. I had salmon with a sweet spicy glaze and mashed potatoes with green beans. Salmon could've been a bit more moist but it was yummy. The meal also came with garlic toast. Now for the service and the service did it for me. There's a variety of options for parking if you need to be close to the door. My mom walks with a walker. I love that the manager Cindy was proactive in finding her a close and accessible table. She even helped my mom sitting down. She thoroughly explained the menu and checked on us later. We had an issue later with silverware and she went above and beyond to correct. Our server Asia was great: friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu. In fact all staff were friendly and helpful. Plenty of options for seating. Booths and tables. I saw one room with a table seating about 8. Looks nice for a group. Lots of drink specials, some for Mardi Gras coming up. There's a few yummy desserts on the menu. We didn't try because we were stuffed. The bathroom was clean. There is a baby changer in the women's bathroom unsure of the men's. Family friendly spot. There are a couple tvs in one area. I am a very picky eater so this is not a place I would have selected to eat, but I was with two others who were in search of Cajun food before we left for our 3hr trip home. The waiter was super nice and very informative! The appetizers: Boudin Balls were spicy and just blah. The seafood fondue was good, the bacon wrapped shrimp was exactly that- pretty blah! Entrees: oysters were small and not good at all. So much bread and very mini oysters. Zydeco pasta was okay- had to request extra sauce and spice! However my frequent Cajun food cravings and my current passenger princess status, keeps me coming back again and again. It is hard to find a reasonably priced Cajun food and the value and quality of their dishes can't be beat. While in the area we stopped by for dinner at Razzoo's. The entrance of the restaurant had a bad smell to it, almost like a bathroom. But we did not let that deter us as we had been wanting to go here for a while. The rest of the restaurant smelt fine and seemed to be adequately clean so I'm not sure what was going on at the front. We started our meal with the canal street combo. This was really good and I'd recommend getting it if you come. However, I do think the portions are a bit small for a sampler as you only get two boudin balls and two rat toes. My boyfriend ordered the fried fish filet po boy but they served him a shrimp po boy. He eventually got the fish but it came out a while later. I ordered the shrimp and American catfish combo and the shrimp and fries were good. The fish was not good and tasted very fishy. This is the closest Cajun restaurant to Mooresville that is worth visiting. You can't go wrong with the Cajun skillet.
