    Baskin Robbin's.

I stopped in here at 5:00PM today and was greeted by someone at the counter. I love the mint chip ice cream flavor. It's my favorite. I get it everywhere I go if it's available. I have to say that Baskin Robbin's has the best mint chip. It was very delicious. The ice cream cakes are always fun to look at.

This is a decent ice cream spot if you're in the area. I was running errands on a weekday afternoon and stopped here to energize myself with a treat. This is a nice location with a patio area to sit (there are a couple tables inside too). They have plenty of flavors to choose from and a large freezer full of ice cream cakes. I ordered a two scoop sundae, choosing caramel turtle truffle and chocolate chip as my flavors. They topped it with hot fudge, whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry. I sat outside and snarfed it down. The chocolate chip ice cream was fine but the caramel turtle truffle was disappointing as it had only a couple of the truffles and minimal ribbons of caramel; it mostly tasted like a scoop of vanilla. At least the scoops were generous. They were very stingy on the hot fudge but I think they thought they were making up for it with an overabundance of whipped cream and nuts. It wasn't the best sundae I ever had but it satisfied my craving.

Sooooooooo ummmmmmmm, of course the ice cream is great. We come here with our family all the time. We will be back! Here's just a note to the owners: Hey owners, we had a rough experience here tonight (May 31, 2023 8:33pm). The "open" sign was off, the pendant lights were off, the menu TV's were off and the people working the store didn't want us there. They had very wetly mopped the floor and put the mop bucket and mop at the door so we couldn't get in easily. (I have a determined husband). So we go in with our 4 little kids and our two year old kept slipping and falling. To the point where we just had to carry her. Anyway, no big deal on our part. We were served, ate amazing ice cream and had a great time. Just thought the owners would want to know what's going down in their business. (Also, kinda funny: my husband is the least litigious litigator ever. Haha! He would never sue a small business like this, he would prefer to defend them. But you should just know it was a dangerous slip-and-fall potential lawsuit.) Will be back!

The evening before my brother's fiancée's birthday, my parents and I visited the store to order a cake for the celebration. We were assisted by an employee named Aiden. From the beginning, he showed little to no customer service--there was no greeting, friendliness, or engagement during the interaction. Despite this, we continued with the order and specifically requested a fresh cake to be picked up the following day at 3:00 PM. The next day, when my mother and brother went to pick up the cake, my mother noticed that the display cake that had been in the case the previous evening was no longer there. She asked Aiden if the cake he gave them was the display cake. Instead of responding, he simply stared at her and did not answer the question. My brother also noticed the lack of basic customer service and found the interaction very strange and unprofessional. Later that day, we brought the cake home and served it during the celebration. As soon as we cut into it, everyone noticed the cake was very different and tasted horrible. It tasted stale and dry. The strawberries were very mushy and smelled spoiled. None of us finished our cake slices and still have a large portion remaining. The following day, I called the store to explain the situation. A female employee answered the phone and told me she was busy with customers but would call me back shortly to sort out the issue. About 30 minutes later, I received a call back, and it was Aiden again. I explained everything that happened, but once again he showed no concern, empathy, or professionalism. When I asked about my mother's question regarding whether the cake was the display cake, he claimed he "didn't hear" her question. He did not apologize for the experience and simply offered a free slice of cake as compensation. My family and I have purchased cakes from this location several times before and have always enjoyed both the quality of the cakes and the customer service. In fact, my family has owned restaurants and businesses ourselves, so we understand very well how important customer service and quality are in the hospitality industry. This is not the way customers should be treated, which is why this experience was so disappointing to us. This is the first time we have ever had to complain. We were very surprised that a cake we specifically requested to be fresh tasted bad and have been displayed for days. Aiden also mentioned that cakes and pastries can remain out for up to two days, which was concerning given the quality we experienced. We truly loved this location and had always enjoyed coming here in the past. Unfortunately, what could have been a small issue turned into a very negative experience due to the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer care from the manager on duty. Because of this experience, my family and I will no longer be returning to this location in the future. I hope this issue can be addressed so other customers do not experience the same situation.

The inside is so bright, airy and clean with plenty of seating options. I love that it's near Stater Bros, so I can easily grab groceries and pick up a treat for myself because some days, you just need something sweet. The pastries are clearly labeled with a short description. It's nice that they include a list of ingredients, which I find helpful for those who may have allergens that is often overlooked or just as a nice to know. Every time I pick up a tray, I feel compelled to fill it, but I try to limit to 2-3 items. Occasionally, we'll splurge with a half dozen haha. Some of our favorites have been palmier, milk bread, fruit tart and egg tarts. For savory items, I love the pastry frank and curry croquette. It seems like they started expanding more of their menu with seasonal items such as such as pizettas and fall vibes with biscoff and pumpkin flavored things. In a recent trip, I was interested in trying the cherry danish, but I apparently picked up the blueberry instead. The cashier offered to swap it out and explained the nuances in design that differentiated the two options, but I declined since I liked blueberry. That just means I have to go back!

The layout inside was not clearly marked for where to pick up orders, and the regular in-store purchase counter. Because of that, I went to the in store purchase counter. There was one woman ahead of me, politely waiting to be acknowledged by the surly, disinterested young woman behind the counter who appeared annoyed that she had to pause her task of stuffing baguettes into bags--WITHOUT GLOVES. The employee did not smile, did not engage with the older lady buying the bag of coffee, and offered not a single welcome or pleasantry. At the same time, another young woman rushed behind the counter with a scowl on her face, didn't acknowledge me at all, clocked in, looked up at me waiting there, and then turned heel and walked away. The first young woman, whose hands had just been on finished bread, were now on the dirty POS screen and the older woman's payment card. At no point did I see her wash or sanitize her hands. When the transaction ahead of me concluded the surly young simply asked "Can I help you?" DMV employees have more warmth and personality. I responded that I had an order to pick up and gave her my name. She responded with, "You have to go over there," and pointed behind her. That was it. No "thank you," no "have a nice day." The second counter was no better. I stood at the pick up counter for a minute before being acknowledged me. It was long enough that a middle aged woman approached and asked if I'd been helped yet. Again, no smile, no greeting, not a single indication that this employee was grateful for my business. He also asked, with the same lack of humanity, "Can I help you?" I repeated that I was there to pick up my order and gave him my name. He seemed utterly bewildered, lacked any sense of urgency, and apparently couldn't find my name in his computer. He simply stated with a dead-pan monotone, "I gotta check on something." He went back to an unattended shelf that I didn't see or even know was there but was accessible by anyone. He brought my order out and handed it to me, and again I received no thank you, "have a good day," or any other effort toward making my patronage there seem appreciated. The loaves look fine, but the way they packed my croissant in the bag was such that it was on its side between the two heavier loaves and the sturdy paper bag. Of course these means that I pulled out a deflated, completely flat croissant with the filling mostly outside of the pastry. I can't say that this is because of the squishing, however, because the cheese was cooked and solid--just outside the croissant. The flavor was good, but after the first few bites where the filling had all come out of one side, the rest of the croissant had no filling, was super flat, and seemed unusually greasy. This sort of thing would never happen at Moulin. Between the horrible service, the insanely high prices, and the 7-11-level quality of the pastries, I'd recommend that you just go into the Sprouts right there and get something from them. Those employees are always happy/friendly, the value is there, and the quality is superior. Or better yet, go to Moulin where real, French-speaking men and women expertly practice their craft of exquisite artisan baking. Chaupain is a terrible, unsuccessful imitation.
