We don't usually come to Ladera Ranch as we don't live in this area but we really enjoyed the gelato here! The place is really cutely decorated and the staff was super friendly letting us try several samples. I really liked my black sesame gelato which is a flavor you don't always find everywhere. There is ample seating inside and outside. I would come here again when I'm in the area!

This is a cute, small, and cozy Gelato store located in a plaza where you should come if you have a craving for something sweet or just for desserts! The interior is clean and minimal designs with few tables to sit inside and outside. Parking is free and easily accessible. The shop offers a wide variety of very unique gelato flavors as well as sorbets which they alternate through. The gelato was creamy, not too sweet, and the flavors were all combined well. All the flavors that we tried were delicious! They even offer affogato with specific flavors of gelato. Ordered the following: - Melon Jasmine Tea/Tiramisu - Ferrero Rocher/Black Sesame - Hazelnut Milk Chocolate/Caramel Biscoff Cheesecake - Pistachio Affogato The Melon Jasmine Tea was paired well and the tea did not over power (this was one of our favorites! The Tiramisu was not overly sweet and tasted more of a coffee side. The Black Sesame was not over powering and definitely a go to for black sesame lovers. Hazelnut Milk Chocolate was also a favorite! While trying the Pistachio Affogato you can really taste the nuttiness of the pistachio! Definitely all the flavors we had were all very good! Also the service was excellent! Really appreciate Jay's assistance as well as providing recommendations of what to try and explaining the flavors to us. Definitely will come back and try the other flavors that were not on rotation that day. Missed out on the Matcha and Jasmine Matcha flavors!

The gelato is incredibly creamy and rich with that smooth, authentic texture you hope for. You can tell it's high quality from the first bite. I also love that they offer sherbets, which are super refreshing and fruity if you're in the mood for something lighter. And the affogato... so good. A fresh shot of espresso poured over creamy gelato is the perfect balance of bold and sweet. The warm espresso melting into the cold gelato makes every spoonful better than the last. Definitely a go-to dessert spot in Ladera Ranch. I'll absolutely be back to try more flavors!

They also offer some coffees and, if you choose to combine the two, affogatos. This shop is located in a large plaza so there's plenty of free parking. The interior, while small, has a few tables if you want to enjoy your gelato indoors, plus quite a few tables outside. Being more of a "cup guy" than a "cone guy," I ordered a regular-sized cup of gelato which allows 3 small scoops. I chose tiramisu, dark chocolate hazelnut, and cheesecake caramel biscoff. It was a rainy, chilly day so I also got a hot golden caramel latte. I sat inside and savored the deliciousness. The tiramisu tasted predominantly of coffee, not bitter yet not overly sweet. The dark chocolate hazelnut tasted exactly as the name implies. My favorite was the cheesecake caramel biscoff. Again, all three flavors were discernible...so good! Each scoop was fresh, soft, and creamy. My latte was made with pretty good espresso. The taste of caramel was faint in the background, letting the espresso flavor be front and center. Cool inspirational cup too. Although it's not in my nearby neighborhood, I'm certain to be a repeat customer. I love their gelato!

***Hidden Gelato Gem in Ladera Ranch*** What a great gelato store located in Mercantile West in Ladera Ranch. The location is in the old Z Pizza store right next to Joe's. They have so many different flavors to choose from, I had a time trying to figure out what I wanted. I opted for the Pistachio Affogato, dine in only. It was one of the best Affogato's that I've ever had. The presentation was beautiful. My husband opted for the toffee and Ferraro Rocher gelato in a waffle cone. The service was excellent. If you are in the area and are craving some gelato I would highly recommend you stop by. Food 5+++++/5 Service 5++++/5 Ambiance 5/5

Wow, this reminded me of Italy. The gelato itself is so thick and creamy, and the cup even comes cold to retain the texture. They were so friendly and let us try so many flavors. I mean I don't understand how this place hasn't BLOWN UP. 10/10 service and 10/10 gelato. Great interior decor and it's clean and nice.

We usually have to go down to Laguna to get good gelato, so glad this place opened up close to us. It's not like having it Florence but pretty close if you stick to the classic flavors. The more modern ones are good and interesting

We love this new gelato spot here in Ladera. They have 32 flavor options but will have only certain flavors each day. We love that they use cleaner/healthier ingredients as well. Our family makes it a treat to come in with the kids once week. They make fresh waffle cones in house too. The service is always wonderful!

I can't stop thinking about the Biscoff cheesecake affogato. It was rich, creamy and perfectly balanced. Aside from the Biscoff cheesecake, I also liked the tiramisu. The texture of the gelato was perfect, as it did not melt too fast. Super friendly staff, loved that I got to sample a lot of flavors. Can't wait to come back.

Cute gelato place with unique flavors and fantastic quality! The interior is small and has little seating but outside has lots of bench seating. They have around 20 flavors. Hubby and I shared an earl fig and the pretzel. I loved the earl fig, had strong tea flavor with hint of fig, pretzel had a nice texture with peanut flavor. So, you know how first impressions are so important, well, right when you walk it the vibe is so relaxing and vibrant at the same time and you are greeted with a friendly smile by the staff. I tasted several flavors and settled on the banana split. This is by far the best gelato I've tasted in the US and we always look for new gelato spots to try no matter where we are. Super creamy and true to the flavor. I'm from CDM and will absolutely drive to Ladera Ranch when I want gelato. So with the drive! Met the owner and he gave us a little history on how they started and it was very interesting and definitely not what we were expecting to hear. Our first time trying Ricco Gelato in Ladera and it did not disappoint! We took our neighbor, Norman, out for a special treat on his 96th Birthday and not only did all the staff wish him a Happy Birthday, the cashier gave us a 96% discount on his gelato. It was seriously such a sweet and thoughtful gesture that not only put a huge smile on all our faces but it also made Norman's night! Five Stars We checked out Ricco Gelato last night and were so happy to find this new spot in Ladera. It was our first visit, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The gelato was delicious. Four of us ordered different flavors, and every single one was a hit. Creamy, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It is one of those places where you want to sample everything because it all looks and tastes amazing. Customer service really stood out too. The staff was friendly, patient, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. You can tell they are proud of what they serve and excited to share it with customers. We will definitely be back and plan to make this a regular stop. If you love great gelato and warm service, this place is a must try. read more

This place is absolutely amazing and one of the greatest finds I've had in a very long time. We were recently in Florence Italy and had their famous Affogato and the Affogato at Ricco was totally authentic and as great as the one I had in Florence. Great gelato ice cream too. I then politely clarified whether customers are ever allowed to sit before ordering, and she replied, "No." Since there were no signs explaining this policy, I asked for her name. She responded, "You don't need my name. I'm the owner," and then said, "Do you want the flatbread pizza or not? Otherwise, you can leave." I found this interaction unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. As the owner, first impressions matter, and this was not the type of customer service I would expect from a business. It's unfortunate because the employees we interacted with were very kind and courteous. I hope this feedback encourages a more welcoming approach to future customers.
