Well today being a warm day as of recent I decided to get a cold treat before heading home. When I walked in I was immediately geared when I got in the door. To my surprise though there was a large golden lab walking around behind the ice cream counter. The employee working was having to manage moving around the dog to make my treat. I almost changed my mind but the heat was of greater concern. I asked what a dog was doing behind the counter. The response I got was "It's the owners dog it's here every day." voiced by the counter employee. Then from the back of the store there was another woman who exclaimed "That's Gummy Bear". I didn't see who she was because she was behind the tall counter and I could only see the top of her head. I did let them know that can't be right to have a dog around especially when it will be shedding cause summer is coming. They shed enough as it is. I won't be back there. The city may have said they passed inspections but if an owner doesn't think a big hairy dog in a food prep area is bad I don't want to know what else they may be lax on. As someone who worked at a Baskin Robbins (not this one), I've read some of the comments and I feel the need to defend us BR employees. I know there are bad workers. I yelp about them all the time. However some of what people complain about is the company policy so its possible its not the employee's fault (although it may very well just be that they are doing something wrong). People get upset about the weight of the hand packed ice cream. We are given a BR bible that tells us how much it should weigh and I'm pretty sure every store should have a scale. Ask them to show you how much it should weigh and watch them weigh it. If after that it's still lighter than you want it to be it's not the employee's fault. They are following the rules. ALL sundaes are made with kids scoops. That includes banana splits. I had people come in all the time and complain saying, "well the other store in town gave me adult scoops." Well they aren't following the BR bible. A kids scoop is supposed to be 2.5 oz and an adults scoop is supposed to be 4. A kids scoop at 2.5 oz is not very much ice cream. Milk shakes are SUPPOSED to only be filled to the second line on the cup. Once again I reference the BR bible. I'm sure there are bad scoopers out there. But before you yell at them those are the rules they are supposed to follow. We tend to follow the rules of the person paying us however much an hour and not the person orders 15 items, yells at us and then walks out without tipping. If you come in a lot, try being friendly. You may find that your scoop sizes get larger with that strategy.. read more

Ice cream was apparently left out of freezer too long and was soupy, quality should be better controlled.

This is the worst BR in the Bay Area. My family and I like BR ice cream and the other MV location (east of 85, near PAMF) is MUCH better than this one near Miramonte. The problem at the El Camino/Miramonte really stems from the owner. I have had the bad luck to be served several times by Mr. McAllister, the owner (also a City Council rep---you think he would be a bit nicer and more generous to his constituents --esp. the younger ones)! Other staff members at this location we have been served by have been friendly, helpful and seem to like their jobs (unlike the owner). This last trip was the breaking point--I recently ordered three kid cones one HOT Friday afternoon. Not only was the service bad, Mr. McAllister's portions were abysmal - I doubt the scoops were the advertised 2 ounces at all. And my kids know scoop sizes...we go to the other BR near PAMF frequently too, and their kid scoops are always more appropriately sized. Not only is the service bad in the shop, McAllister has a habit of bringing his ice cream cart with him to local schools and other community events, jacking up his prices and ripping off the good people of Mountain View (the same ones who voted him in, no less!) with small portions. Lastly, watch out for him in his van with this BR trailer behind it--he drives like a bat out of you-know-where and practically knocked down my 7 year old recently as he zoomed past. Must of been itching to rip off some more constituents. I really do like BR as a brand, but I think this location is a poor reflection of a pretty decent ice cream chain. If you want BR ice cream, head to the one closer to Sunnyvale--- better scoops, much cleaner store (but it's relative), and the young servers there are as nice as the kind kids working in McAllister's place. Now, if you want really, really good ice cream--visit Yoogl on Castro, they are serving LUSH (made in Berkeley) brand artisan ice cream. Amazing flavors, so fresh and worth the $3.25 (same price as a kid's scoop at BR) for two decent sized scoops. read more

I needed an ice cream cake, so I gave this place a call. It was a simple, pain free process. Choose your ice cream flavor, choose your cake--chocolate or vanilla and spell out the message. The name was spelled correctly when I went to pick it up--score!--and the cake was a hit with the bday boy and his friends. I think it was $24 for 1/3 sheet cake. What else can I say? I have been to this Baskin Robbins a few times with my daughter and girlfriend--typically the service is prompt and customer friendly. However, last night (Friday, October 26)--the young lady working behind the counter (mid to late 20's maybe--black curly hair) acted as if she wanted to serve customers a slap in the face with their cones...it was awkward and unreasonably tense. Unfortunately, I was very displeased with this particular BR, as with my Groupon certificate of $20.00, they charged me full-price for each individual quart of ice cream, and refused to give me the 2 quart special that they typically give to a purchaser.....So, instead of me receiving 4 quarts for $18.00 + a scoop of ice cream for $20.00, I only received 3 quarts for about $18.46 and then had to pay for the single scoop as well! So, with a Groupon certificate worth $20.00,for which I paid $10.00.....I only received about $14.46 worth of Ice Cream.....What a rip-off!....... read more

More a four really, as it's essentially a chain, but I think their rating should be higher overall so I'm rounding up. I haven't gone there when it's crazy crowded, so don't know what that's like, but my trips have always been pleasant, and the ice cream is always tasty. It's not gelato made with hand foraged berries, but it's not priced or advertised as such. The main reason I'm writing this is because I just dropped by today, and both of the teenage girls working there were super sweet. Enough so that it stood out. And when I thought back to my other visits there, in general I remember being served by very nice people. I just wanted to give them a shout out and let them know that the way they interact with the customers is noticed and appreciated. Hopefully their manager sees this :-) read more

This location is okay. We came here to get dessert after eating at the vegetarian restaurant next door. The nephews had a blast picking out flavors, but the staff seemed less enthusiastic about having kids running around (there were tons of kids there). My sister loves the french vanilla because it has the egg yolk taste and flavor, and this is the place that makes it that way (she swears). Prices are reasonable and the selection is good. read more

The ONLY reason they get -1 star is because of all of the damn kids/parents that PILE in the store.. it reminds me why I do not want kids anytime soon... But, the staff ends up becoming angry & rude because of the stupid people who pile their 10 kids in the store.. and it kind of ruins my happiness. I wanted to send you a huge compliment about Tina in your Mountain View store. Here's the story: - Last Thursday I did an online order for an ice cream cake for my wife's birthday. - Within 5 minutes of submitting the order Tina called me back to talk to me about it and to see how she could make even better. - The cake I was going for was a replica of the Delta House float in the movie "Animal House" as it's my wife's favorite movie and we were going to watch it at her party. - Tina asked for a picture and once I sent it had a bunch of suggestions on how she could make what I requested even more accurate including: - "I can put the "Eat Me" text on the side like in the photo" (I had requested putting it on the top as I didn't think putting it on the side was possible) - "I can rough up the texture of the cake so it looks more like the surface of the float" -"I can add the red fringe on the bottom with icing" -"We have red and white striped candles like in the original and I could set those aside for you" When I picked it up I saw that not only had she done those things but she had also matched the handwriting with a forgers accuracy (look at the little curls on the "E" and "M") The cake was beyond perfect and my wife was overjoyed. It took her about a minute before she blew out the candles because she was laughing so hard and couldn't collect her breath. So I just wanted to say that Tina is a genius artist with an amazing sense for excellent customer service. Treat her well she's an enormous asset to your store and hey she may have just created a new offering for your store. read more

Standard Baskin Robbins ice cream with ample parking, but this one doesn't have a restroom and the service is pretty lousy. Last time we went we had to wait at least 5 minutes for one of the four people behind the counter to get us our ice cream, even though there were no other customers in the shop. read more

This Baskin Robbins is on the corner of El Cam and Shoreline/Miramonte. The lot is unpleasantly small and people sometimes cause a jam pulling in or out. The service is great, and as with all their locations, you can ask for a taste of any flavor you are considering. There are some tables inside, and some outside, right on El Camino, which is a bit loud and exhausty, but the kids love it. I recommend that kids get the children's size instead of the small. read more

I like to sit outside on the benches facing El Camino Real.The new Reese's candy madness sundae is a must have for anyone who loves chocolate and peanut butter! This is my childhood ice cream store. It has been here for years and since I went to grade school just down the street, I have been here hundreds of times, maybe LOL Okay, probably more like dozens. Baskin Robbins has some of my favorite flavors done right. I will only eat chocolate chip ice cream, and peanut butter chocolate by Baskin Robbins. No other companies has done them as well as BR. Their margarita ice, mint chip, and so many other flavors are parts of so many memories. My Uncle used to take me here every week in the summer for ice cream. My second boyfriend introduced me to margarita ice. I can't tell you how many pints and pints of peanut butter chocolate I have eaten in my lifetime. And the chocolate chip will always be nostalgic. Parking isn't great since it is in a small strip mall. Just park around the corner and walk. Employees have always been nice. Come for famliy days when scoops are discounted, and don't forget to sign up for their Birthday Club and you get a free scoop for your birthday. read more

Came in for a birthday cake for my daughter and was extremely pleased with the service and cake. The female employee who helped me was super nice and friendly. She also helped us with a simple design on top. I had to pick it up the next day and when I arrived, it was ready and perfectly set in a box. I was in and out in 5 minutes. We got mint chocolate chip ice cream with chocolate cake and there was a generous heaping of ice cream on top of the cake. It was a great choice and a great cake. Everyone enjoyed it. I'm sure Baskin Robbins is a local favorite. I'm more of a gelato person. Two weeks ago I had to pick up an emergency ice cream cake for a friend so I ran to Baskin Robbins. There weren't many choices. Finally I settled for a mint chocolate log that costs $22 before tax. It was small, it was not pretty, it tasted kinda stale. I love this place, in terms of their ice cream but do not expect an excellent customer service. I went to this place yesterday wanting an ice cream in a waffle cone. Person who was helping me stated, they do not have any more waffle cones and if I mind having a waffle bowl instead. I asked if he could make some more and to my surprise, he just went in the back and grabbed a whole new packet of waffle cones. I feel as if the task was as simple as grabbing a new pack from the stock, you shouldn't tell customer that you do not have any more waffle cones. One night I went to another Baskin Robbins a half hour before closing and they had already put away the majority of their ice cream, leaving only a few flavors to choose from. I got back in my car and drive over to this location, arriving only 10 minutes before closing. They still had all of their ice cream flavors out, and even though it was so close to the end of their night, both girls working there were engaging, helpful, and welcoming. One girl even suggested I sample a flavor she thought I would like based on the first flavor I had chosen - she went above and beyond even though it was the end of her day! Was very impressed with the level of customer service here and it made me leave the experience with a smile on my face. :) read more

I used to enjoy coming here regularly with my children, but then they installed a TV over the 3 tables, so if you go, you are stuck with listening to one of those obnoxious TV shows geared toward tweens. They keep the volume up WAY too loud. This afternoon, I asked one of the workers to turn the volume down. They said no, because "other guests were watching the TV." I told them I was there to enjoy an ice cream with my children and the TV was interfering with that. There are 3 tables--so you can't sit somewhere else. And the TV was super loud. There were two children who sat down about 30 seconds before I requested they lower thevolume, and yes--what else do you expect when you have a TV blaring?--they were looking at the TV. Their grandparents were sitting down with them as I left, and I highly doubt their grandparents took them for ice cream so they could shout over a TV. Anyway, after years of frequenting this store, we will not be going back. The TV here has turned a family outing into another obnoxious overly-connected experience. Not to mention, the show was inappropriate for my younger children in the first place. read more

We came here for the Tuesday family night which is from 6:00 pm - close. They now charge $1.29 for the kids scoop on Tuesday family night which is regularly $2.29. The single scoop is $2.29 which is regularly $2.69. There were 3 employees and they initially all ignored us as 2 of them turned their backs and were talking with each other and the 3rd one was in front of us wiping the counter. After looking at him for a bit he finally asked if we were ready to order. Mint chocolate chip is still my favorite and the kids scoop for $1.29 was a great deal. The employees should be servicing the customers instead of talking and wiping the counter when customers are waiting. read more

i have 2 wonderful children 1 boy and 1 girl and they just love their ice cream... every year i throw them a big party at the park with a jumper, face paints and a huge ice cream cake. i love this store! not only do they work with me to give me exactly what i want and when i want it they also customise it to my likes. i have been to various baskin robbins and never have i seen such elegant cakes as the ones in this store. their cake display case is always full when i walk in and the decorators are always willing to take the time to talk to me and make a cake outside the box for my kids. i love this store and wouldnt go anywhere else to order my cake! not to mention THEY'LL DELIVER if asked (saved me a few times when ive ran late).
