My boys, including our pup , love Rick's! With soccer practices and games nearby, there are multiple occasions to stop in for a cold treat. We've tried lots of flavors, all delicious. We do have our favorites... Depending on their mood, my boys go with the mint, salted caramel, or cotton candy. My go to is definitely saffron pistachio. And of course, Bear loves his pup cups!
Stopped by for a sweet treat to end or weekend. This was the closest ice cream shop to us. There was one customer ahead of us. The associate offered to take our order instead of using thenkiosk. We ordered a single scoop of caramel praline and a single scoop sundae. For the price the portions were undeniably small. Not worth the money.
I always enjoy those local neighborhood ice cream shops because it always gives me a sense of nostalgia and wonderment with the classic ice cream offerings. You also always get some unique flavors concocted with neighborhood flair and personality. I feel like this Rick's offers that. With an ice cream bar, classic menu, friendly workers, and even a seating area in the back, it's a great spot on a warm day. The ice cream flavors contain common ones to unique flavors. Throw in brownies, fudge, cookies, and other sweet delights, it's a great place to just enjoy some ice cream.
Found this place I think 2021-2022, really like their flavors and hometown feel to it. Their ice cream are slightly thicker than others. It almost reminds me of Turkish dondurma. Doesn't melt as quick neither, which is awesome. I accidentally snapped my plastic spoon trying to eat it. You'll need to take a number if you want the classic ice cream service of being able to sample flavors over the counter. But if you know what you want, you can order from the large tablets in the corner. I was able to skip over a fairly decent line and had my order done in literal seconds going the tablet route.
Mmm, ice cream on a rainy night... or a milkshake to be exact, the chocolate kind! Turns out, this place offers a multitude of different chocolate ice cream flavors!! It was the perfect dessert after dinner on Saturday, just the right sweetness for my taste buds, and so cute with the candy striped straw. Also got the strawberry lemonade sorbet and old school lemonhead candy (chewy version), which were delightful. Service was helpful and efficient, no waits (except the staff waiting for US to make our selections... sorry but there's too much good stuff to choose from on the menu). The atmosphere and decor give off a casual and fun-loving vibe. There's also indoor seating, a restroom, and easy parking right out front for convenience, making Rick's the ideal spot for enjoying sweet treats.

We ordered: Butter beer -- just like the Harry Potty drink at Disneyland! Masala chai -- lots of tea flavor Saffron pistachio -- the least sweet of them all and has a nod to Indian spices I also sampled their kulfi flavor and that was really good too -- rose water plus cardamom! I'll have to get that next time. They also have ice cream cups for dogs, ice cream cakes and small cupcakes. Make sure you take a number when you come in so that you can be served in the proper order. The place is very 1950's old town parlor vibe. There's enough seating for several families. Plenty of parking in the small plaza.

Plenty of parking as it's in a plaza. Employees are super helpful and friendly. Love that you can sample the ice creams. My first time trying the milkshakes and I loved them! Whipped cream comes from a can. read more
At least give a bigger scoop of ice cream if the quality is basic. Surprisingly, I had better ice cream at buffets. Chocolate chip cookie ($3.75) with a scoop of mocha almond fudge ice cream ($5.25): the cookie was too crispy, as I prefer it to be soft baked in the middle with crispy edges. The ice cream was more icy than creamy and the flavors were muted especially for a mocha almond fudge, 2/5 stars. This spot is a one and done for me since I had an off-putting experience. read more
They have a lot of flavors to choose from including the purple ube. Tried the mango and the pistachio flavors. They also have sundaes, floats, ice cream cake and freshly baked cookies. Mango ice cream was good. It didn't have the tart flavor. The pistachio had bit of crushed pistachios. Very mildly flavored. Didn't have the creamy taste. Tastes more like lower fat milk. Small size has one scoop for $5.95. Medium is a out $8 and has 2 scoops. They allow customers to sample 2 flavors. Nice staff. read more

My partner and I were in town to visit some of his friends that returned from Michigan. We just finished up watching the new Ant-man movie which was great. We were looking for something sweet after dinner and found this family own place on yelp. We were able to get 3 to 5 ice cream tastings per person (there was four of us). After we decided, one of us got their Swiss chocolate mocha ice cream in a hand baked chocolate dipped waffle cone. They love chocolate; super decadent. The other shake officianados ordered a couple milkshakes---vanilla and vanilla bean mixed, and Kulfi. Kulfi is a cardamom, pistachio, Indian, authentic flavor that is made in house and it was divine. Definitely a must try! Customer service wasn't out of ordinary and no one really smiled or was super cordial. Just mainly there doing their job and it wasn't busy either. A few groups followed us in afterwards. There are signs all over the store and entrance to warn clients of only allowing 1 party (group of clients) in at a time so they seem COVID conscience which is good. I noticed they also have pints and gallons of ice cream for sale that are pre-packed and ready to go in the freezer for anyone wanting to pick-up. The Kulfi flavor was great so I would revisit for their other in-house homemade flavors but other than that it wasn't a special experience in terms of customer service or ambiance. read more

I didn't expect much prior to coming in here, but I was rather surprised to find so many different ice cream flavors available. They had some really unique flavors like kulfi, cherry chocolate, and my favorite, mocha almond fudge. There were also vegan options, sorbet, and a case filled with tubs of ice cream to take home. Overall, this is a great place to stop in for an ice cream fix. read more
I was at the next door Pet Food Express and thought it wouldn't hurt to check this spot out. I went with my classic fave: mint chip on a waffle cone. It was pretty pricey for one scoop on a cone - $6. It tasted pretty basic like Dreyer's ice cream you get from the grocery store. Didn't really find anything too unique about this place, so probably wouldn't return again. Workers were nice, but when I asked them what ingredients are in certain flavors, they only listed a few and said "and all that other good stuff." This would probably be important for people with food allergies to know. read more

Stumbled onto this jewel after donating some board games nearby! It was empty at first but within 30 minutes, the store was completely crowded with families all ordering ice cream. I was beyond overjoyed with the sundae in my hand, it was so delicious. The lychee, peach, and mango ice creams were all amazing. Would love to come again soon!! read more

Last minute decided to get an ice cream cake - we came here based on some Reddit comments and we are so glad we did! The cake was fantastic! They had some ready-to-go in the freezer. We got mint chocolate chip ice cream with vanilla cake. They even wrote a message on top for us. Everything was great - icing, ice cream, cake. Definitely our go to for any future ice cream cake needs. read more
6/20/21- Heard a lot about the ice cream, especially the pineapple Dole Whip here, and decided to give it a shot. The soft serve was fairly tasty but was just about what I expected- nothing spectacular or outstanding (more sorbet like). Still a refreshing summer treat though! // Pineapple Dole Whip Soft Serve It was my first time trying dole whip and a friend recommended this location. The dessert itself was pretty refreshing with a crisp, strong pineapple flavor. The sweetness and tanginess was also just right. The texture was a little icier than I expected. Rather than having a creamy, smooth mouthfeel, the consistency was more similar to a slush-like sorbet. Still good for a hot day but I had higher expectations. // Store ambience and experience Employees had average service and weren't very enthusiastic about anything (didn't make any eye contact either when I asked a question). Store itself is an older-looking ice cream parlor. // Price and value The pineapple dole whip was a little over $6 for a medium cup. I'd say this was overpriced given the flavor and experience overall. I could've probably gotten a tub of pineapple sorbet at the grocery store with the same flavor quality at a lesser price. I wasn't wow'd by the dole whip but I did still enjoy it for a hot summer day treat, especially during the Bay Area heat waves! read more
Came on a Saturday evening. Not a lot of rush, we tasted few flavors and liked all! Finally got a medium sized plain cone with a scoop of mango and a scoop of Choco cherry. Loved the Choco cherry. We did taste several of their ice cream flavors and all of them were good. The sweetness was not too much, just right for us and the textures were soft, smooth, melting in your mouth. My girlfriend and I were craving ice cream and wanted to go to a place that wasn't too crazy crowded after a visit to the museum. Google Maps lead us to Rick's, and I'm really glad it did. This place is really cute, and the staff is super nice. I like that they sell their own fudge and the ice cream selection is pretty dang good! They also sell some classic candies as well, which was a nice touch. I was really surprised by the variety of sweets that were available, and of course, they do cakes as well! Definitely coming back here for some fudge next time. read more
Ricks ice cream is not too bad but not too good either. The pricing here seems excessive as it is 750 for a medium scoop ice cream. That scoop was pretty average compared to other shops as well. They have many flavors to choose from that somewhere very interesting. The staff is very nice and gave samples as needed. I tried the kulfi flavor which had a few spices in them but was too much for me. I had such a difficult time choosing because there were so many flavors that sounded so good. I settled on bananas since you can never get that around much. It was delicious nice fresh banana flavors did not taste too artificial and not too overly sweet. My wife got industrial chocolate, which had fudge and cookie pieces in it and she really enjoyed it. The only issue we both had was to both felt our ice cream was kind of icy, which was weird because both of our ice creams look like from a fresh batch. I would recommend this spot for some good ice cream. read more

So many options and so delicious! Their ice cream is rich! I have never once finished my single scoop sundae. Their regular flavors like vanilla, chocolate, caramel, praline, mocha, etc are reliable good. They also rotating interesting flavors like butter beer, tiger tails, kulfi, masala chai and computer chip that are absolutely worth trying. I always get a single/double scoop sundae - they usually have almonds and walnuts with whipped cream and cherries for sundaes. They also have coke floats and this months special was butter beer - which was a great take on the Harry Potter special! read more

We sampled a few flavors and ended up ordering the rose and cookies n dough ice cream. Rose ice cream was bright pink but super flavorful. Cookies n dough was a mix of cookies n cream and cookie dough ice cream. It's nice that they let you sample flavors. While we were pondering our samples, they helped the next person in line who had a large order so we ended up waiting a little while to actually order and get our ice cream. Ice cream was good but we would probably try different flavors next time. read more
Was in there area back a few months ago and found Rick's Ice Cream on Yelp and decided to give them a try. It does have the feel of an old school ice cream parlor with seating in the back. They had a good amount of flavors and selection. The prices are a bit on the higher side for the amount that you get. All in all a decent ice cream experience. Not sure if I'd be back but it was worth a try. As others have also mentioned in their reviews, the customer service here could be friendlier and more welcoming. read more

So. Overrated. I'm obviously in the minority here but IMO, Rick's Ice Cream is a tiny baby step above Baskin Robbins which is nothing to aspire to. They do have more interesting flavors like white chocolate ginger and kulfi, I'll give them that. I rarely give businesses less than 3 stars but Rick's Ice Cream is overpriced for the cheap taste and quality. My single scoop fast melting, cloyingly sweet ice cream cone was $7 and the staff was, as enthusiastic as, the DMV. After finishing my cone, I felt like I did several lines of booger sugar. So yea, I don't even want to know how much sugar they use. Hard pass on Rick's... There's much better ice cream shops (with ingredients that you can feel better about) in downtown PA like Salt & Straw and Morsey's Creamery or if you're down to head to SF: Mitchell's, Marco Polo, Polly Ann, Garden Creamery, Bi-Rite, Humprey Slocombe, etc. One and done - next! read more

Is this inside the plaza near the community center... if so can someone tell me what the name of this plaza is will be heading there?
Hello, I don't know if the plaza has a name but there's a Piazzas, Mountain Mikes, Green Elephant, and Peets Coffee in the same plaza. Ricks Ice Cream is on the side closer to Cubberley Community Center.
