I could not emphasise enough of the astonishing care that is given by Dr. Murthy and his staff. Amber- (part of his staff)- is very friendly and takes the time to explain procedures, the tests that will be performed, and what to expect. I love her. I always feel well taken care of during my appointments. Dr. Murthy is very meticulous about his diagnosis and thinks out loud. I can appreciate that. He includes you in his thought process. He types up his thoughts and notes on your prognosis to your file in your presence. I have developed pleurisy twice now in just the past few months. He shows great concern and monitors me closely, communicates with my cardiologist , and takes the necessary precautions to be proactive. I have pulmonary hypertension, accompanied by Lupus and other ailments. I feel that I am under great care. I could not express enough gratitude for Dr. Murthy and his entire staff. This office also operates South County Sleep Clinic. I did an over night observation 5 yrs. ago. THE BEST night's sleep I have ever had! HAHA!! Found out that I have sleep apnea. I feel truly blessed to have Dr. Murthy as my pulmonologist. Lucky to have Dr. Murthy on my team. Hands down! The best! The time and effort he puts in to trying to accommodate my asthma and laundry list of illnesses. I started off as his patient and somehow by default started seeing Dr. Salfen in the same office. Dr. Salfen retired and luckily I returned to Dr. Murthy..haha! I love that he converses with my other doctors as a team to investigate my situation. I have an unusual condition called the nutcracker syndrome along with pelvic congestion. Two other doctors treated parts of the problem, and they were great as well, but Dr. Padidar understood the systemic issues created by the syndrome and aggressively tackled it. The bonus was that while he was doing the procedure he was teaching others about what he was doing and so ultimately, I had a team of doctors taking care of me. For the first time in as long as I can remember, I do not feel fatigued all the time, and I have more energy because my circulation is now functioning properly. I called this doctor's office around Aug'21 on a referral, they confirmed they accepted new patients, took my insurance information and confirmed they were in-network and set up an appointment for routine annual visit with Dr. Lu for 5 weeks later. I requested to be put on their wait list as I told them I was travelling end of the month overseas to go care for my mother who was scheduled to have surgery, but I never got a call to pull in the appointment. Two days prior to the appointment, the receptionist called to confirm the appointment and walked me thru office protocols. During the call I emphasized that I was coming in for a routine preventative visit for which my insurance would cover the visit at 100%, and I asked what their office policy was and if there were any additional charges pertaining to new patients I needed to be aware of. The receptionist said she would check with the billing person who is also the office manager and would get back to me. She called me shortly after to let me know they were cancelling my appointment because they did not want to have any issues with insurance. I was shocked. I asked the receptionist why after waiting for more than 5 weeks for the appointment, and given their office knew I was travelling, would they at the 11th hour tell me they were cancelling my appointment simply because I wanted to be informed of the cost of the visit. The receptionist was extremely rude and told me it was my choice to wait for Dr. Lu and if there is no time now to look for another doctor, that is my problem not theirs. I asked that the doctor or the office manager call me so I could better understand where they were coming from but no one called me back. Later, I came across six other reviews on Yelp from patients who had similar experience with this doctor with one patient stating that the doctor had categorically told him "he had issues with all insurance companies" and a couple of other reviews stating the doctor discontinued services to them or cancelling their appointments without a valid reason . I urge you to please read all the 1-star reviews on Yelp before making your decision. My recommendation, STAY AWAY, would you want to have someone that uncaring and that unprofessional as your doctor ?
