Cabela's is a great place to get your Santa pictures for your kids! They were giving out a free 4X6 photo and a holiday craft to take home with you. You could purchase a digital download of the photo which is what we did. We use to go to the mall for Santa photos, but the lines were insane. You could end up waiting an hour or longer at the mall, especially later into the holiday game. The line was long at Cabela's however our wait time was around 10-15 minutes which was surprising. read more

Do not buy a gun here. They sold a gun bought it back from someone after he fired it a couple of times and didn't like it. Sold it back to them and they want the brand new price for it as they told me "we are selling this as a new gun". Keep in mind more than once they told me it was a used gun. I just spoke with Jared The store director. He went above and beyond of my expectation to make my experience good. Unfortunately right after my visit in this store I head over to local gun shop and purchased my gun but I want to appreciate Jared for understanding the situation and willing to make it right. Although I did not accept his offer as I was not asking for anything but he differently made me feel that he cares and wanted me back to his store as a customer. Thank you Jared for delivering an exceptional customer service. So today I returned back to the store to pick up my online order and also to trade in a firearm towards the new one. Chuck the MGR on duty accused me of lying about the value that they offered me when I ordered the gun online. I'm a Black Card holder (Not for long now) that requires you to spend $25k plus to maintain the Black card status. They offered me the price for my trade in and when I went back they decided to deny that. Although one individual action should not reflect of total company's reputation but when you put an individual to represent your company they may damage the brand on your behalf. Worst example of a business dealing with Covid-19 outbreak. I placed an online order on March 22. Nothing on the website indicating anything amiss. Purchase guaranteed to arrive at the Albuquerque store for p/u in 5-8 business days. No email confirmation. The store closed soon thereafter (the website indicated "in cooperation with local government officials"), even though Sportsman's Warehouse was still open as usual, which appears to give a lie to Cabela's statement. After 8 days, I received an automated phone call saying that part of my order was waiting to be picked up. There's no way to pick anything up, no signage pickups on the front door. Nothing. Couldn't find a customer service phone number online. Customer service via text works, but person was unfriendly, unsympathetc & unhelpful. Bottom line is that they have my money, and it could be weeks or months before either delivery or a refund (since all refunds have to be processed by the Albuquerque store personnel, but - with the store closed, seemingly indefinitely...) Cabela's really dropped the ball on this one. Pretty store and all, but if we ever get back to normal, I'll be going out of my way to avoid ever doing business with them again. And telling everyone I know the same. read more

My boyfriend and I came into Cabela's today to deal with a difficult situation regarding one of our online orders for a firearm being cancelled. Although the firearm was out of stock at the store, one of the sales associates, Carlos, helped us out tremendously by bringing out numerous other similar guns in our price range. Ultimately we did not end up purchasing a firearm today but he continuously provided us with fantastic customer service for the hour or so that we were looking. However, the cooperation behind Cabela's kinda sucks being that they cancelled our online order, and did not even bother to inform us. Very disappointing. Tried to buy some boots but there wasn't anyone working in the shoe department to get the proper size. Tried to buy some optics but nobody working at the counter to show me the optics. Asked to buy a particular shirt which was in the storeroom but the sales associate wouldn't go get one for me. So I wrote a letter to Cabela's HQ pointing out the unsatisfactory service and nobody from the Albuquerque store even bothered to reply. I've always received good service at Cabela's in Colorado and Indiana and was really looking forward to a Cabela's store opening here in New Mexico, but this Cabela's in Albuquerque doesn't seem to care about customer service. Today was the second trip to our Cabelas here in Albuquerque. We drive from Northern Santa Fe.. first trip, our child found a sweatshirt he has to have. We gathered a few times went to check out and the sku# wouldn't scan. We waited over an hour for them to find the ability to price and ski the item so we could purchase. It was ridiculous how long we were made to wait. Second experience, today we go in to gather some fly tiring supplies. The carry on shelf Wisps Head Glue. I heap a few spoils of thread a application bottle and the "water base head glue" get to the counter and AGAIN sku# on glue doesn't work. This is a $2.50 item, literally, they begin to shuffle around for about 10 min looking online going back to shelf... 20min.... still looking through stuff.... turns to me, says "we can't find this stuff and don't know if it's more or less that the non-water base... sorry... walks always leaving me waiting again. Just the strangest experiences in a store in regards to customer service and valuing the customers time.... Please don't put people through this. Cabela's, what a nice treat to have in the duke city. This one isn't as big as others scattered across the US, but it's nice to have a little more selection in town. They have a decent selection of products across the board, firearms, optics, camping, fishing, etc. The bathrooms are spotless, and the staff was almost to friendly. My father and I came in with a pretty good idea of what type of firearm we were looking for. We came up to the showcase, a woman left the area leaving two other employees in the vicinity. We weren't addressed, my father went to the restoom. I walked around the entire showcase, and was not acknowledged. My father came back, we stood in front of the area of what we wanted to see and were told by the woman forementioned that, "...someone will be with you...we are helping others...". Maybe she was...I'm not sure, but the other two employees standing there holding conversation amongst eachother clearly were not. We took our business to Calibers and found a fairer price, and a cooler piece anyway. I would just think that a sizeable purchase like that wouldn't be so nonchalantly disregarded. read more

First time in a Cabela's. I'm an REI guy, but went to the Bass Pro Shop in Denver for the first time a few weeks ago. I was blown away at the level of detail for each discipline. Cabela's was a solid and spacious store. Excellent products. Helpful and attentive staff (for the most part). Almost over staffed from what I could see. I do have one pet peeve when it comes to customer service: a lack of consistency when addressing a customer. I don't expect a sir, but I definitely don't think a buddy (attendant at the returns desk) or guy (attendant at the binocular section) is professional. I got some sirs from a few other folks. But again no need to address me as anything or better yet ask my name to give a more personal touch. Consistency in this area can prevent claims that you're being treated differently based of perceived income level, gender, skin color, etc. it may seem small, but providing all customers with the same level of respect makes everyone feel valued. read more

I went to several places today, but Cabelas was by far the best ever! Im disabled, use a walker. I came in, was greeted at the door by a very helpful nice man who told me what steps to do. I had an old pistol I couldnt physically use & wanted something easier. I was greated by Andrew in the back who spent quite a while helping me. Very pleasant, professional & patient with me. After all was done, I noticed on the way out that the rangemax bag I had paid for, some of the stitches were coming apart. So I guess I looked lost & 3 gentlemen approached me and asked what was wrong. I showed them the bag, all of them went back with me and we found another one. They were all so nice! Kind of a negative experience. Reserved a visit with Santa. Got here 15 min early as required and now I'm asked to wait outside in the line for regular shoppers which is about two hours long. The kids are super anxious now and cold. Surely they could have handled this better. When I made my reservation they told me we would go straight in for the visit and then out and if we wanted to shop we then wiukd have to get in the outside line which I thought was very fair. I was looking for a generator for an RV online. After extensive research, Cabela's had the best one at the best price. I drive to the store but they were out of stock. No problem, we can order it and have it shipped to the store with FREE shipping. AND since my husband is a military veteran we can save 5% when it comes in. They cannot order it for you with the discount but when you come to pick it up just return the item and they'll re-ring it minus the 5% military discount. Day of pickup comes. I go down. The gal helping says "oh yes, i'll definitely re-ring you minus the 5%." Refunds $967. Re-rings the purchase......"oooooh, you can't get 5% off a sale item". What? I wouldnt have even done it if that was the case. I would have just left the purchase stand as it was. She re-rings the purchase and my new charge is $992? What happened to the $967? I am informed that "they" forgot to charge me 2 additional taxes. NM, County and WTH, for what the hell are you charging me so many taxes for?! AND when the generator came into the store and scanned in for me to pick up "corporate" (so i was told) caught the error and immediately charged my card the additional $$. So when i get my cc bill they are hoping i don't pay attention to the charges? Moral of the story is CHECK YOUR RECEIPT AND YOUR CC BILL! What you signed for may not be what you are charged later on! *Many thanks to the manager for making things "right". He was the one that mis-informed us of the 5% and he said the tax mis-calculation was due to faulty software. read more

Excellent customer service, although we had to wait in a line the wrapped around the entire store, the people working came out with bottles of Cabelas purified water and handed them out to those waiting. Not to mention when we were trying to find what we needed the people that were working there were there ready to help and knew exactly what we were talking about and exactly where the products were located! We came in looking for handguns (my partner and I) . I'm a woman who knows her firearms and always face backlash when I look for them. The old man at the table was extremely rude towards me compared to my boyfriend. In fact everytime I asked a warranted question-he replied with a snarky remark. I was pissed but I really wanted my boyfriends first gun to be the same as mine. He finally says we have two guns. One was the display. There was obvious defects from people looking at it. I reluctantly agreed to buy that one and him get the newer one. As we do our background check- he comes back around and proceeds to say one is on hold and we can't buy it. Only the display. He then glares at me and snarks, "Are you going to buy this one?". Of course the hell not! You don't even check inventory, waste our time and make us look bad? We wanted it TOGETHER and you said it existed? Seriously if you're coming here make sure you ask if it's in stock. And don't let the old men treat you like garbage. read more

A group of three were standing around the back of the store talking for about half an hour while my daughter and I shopped for new hiking boots, I asked for a size and the young girl with short hair and tattoos who had no personality, seemed really bothered about me asking for help, she made sure to remind me it was almost closing time and had no knowledge of any of the hiking boots I was asking about, either that or she was just lazy. My family and I Love Cabelas and I'm a regular shopper at this store, as for my 3 star rating I would like to explain the reason It's that literally every time I walk into this store for my hunting / fishing / camping needs I'm hounded to sign up for a credit card over and over again. It becomes a broken record, it should be more customer service based and how can I help you which I do get time to time, But what I do notice each time and I come in its not "what am I looking For"? it's "would you like to sign up for credit card credit card credit card" .... I purchased a firearm online and had it transfered as an FFL transfer to this store. I have been trying to get ahold of the firearms department for over a month on the phone as well as in person. Within the last month I have called about 60+ times, 10 of those calls had been answered and after waiting for an hour and finally speaking to someone, I would get transfered to the firearms department and which would never get answered and I would get forwarded to an answering machine. I work within a couple minute drive from this store, but live about 30inites away, which is why I had it transfered here. I have gone In to the store during my lunch and after work to get an update, when I had gone in I would have to wait for no less than 30 minutes just to talk to someone, when I would talk to someone I would get pushed aside as they helped someone else right I from of me. I was also told misinformation, either this was to tell me what I wanted to hear or this was uneducated employees. As a US Marine, I find this extremely unprofessional. This is not my first experience with Cabela's but makes me question whether it is worth spending my money here. read more

They may have signs on the front doors, but staff Are Not enforcing required face covering, and they themselves are not wearing them properly. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the store, but noticed there wasn't anyone near the front door, either to count the customers entering the store or to ensure that they are wearing a mask/face covering. While waiting in line near the firearm counter, I got to hear a completely unmasked gentleman tell 2 others in line, who were wearing their masks improperly below their noses, that he has a condition and won't wear one. The employee who arrived to help him made no comment about the lack of face covering, and did not mention it to the other customers either. So I set my intended purchases down and walked out. It was relatively slow, so most of the cashiers were milling about near and around the registers, which have to be passed to exit the building. I noticed cashiers with their masks worn improperly below their noses, and one with it completely under her chin. Posting a paper sign on the front door and taking no further action is not sufficient. I couldn't believe I saw less concern for customers and employees than at wal-mart. Cabela's does not care about enforcing rules that protect the public and its own employees, and I will not be returning. read more

I've been wanting a good 9mm pistol for sometime and been to weapons counter twice, looked around for someone to show several pieces to me. We bought a Deceiver fly rod from Cabela's in January. Although we also got a case and the warranty which we were told was lifetime. In July, the tip of the rod broke while it was in the case, as did the top of case. When we brought the rod in to see if we could replace the top piece or get a new tip for a fly rod, the employee in the fishing section was completely unhelpful. He remained focused on his task and barely looked up to answer questions. The warranty, which was supposed to be lifetime, expired due to a policy that was put in place after the purchase as a result of the Bass Pro buyout. Rather than contacting the manufacturer or having spare tips for fly rods, the only solution they offered was to buy a whole new rod. After purchasing the gear in store, it was upsetting to think that they had no other options for working through the issue. We went elsewhere for friendlier service and a less expensive solution. read more

Cabela's is a great company great for all Outdoorsman almost anything you want you can get there. I really like their gun selection you can actually go up and handle all the shotguns and rifles on your own without somebody handing it to you so you can go from one to another without somebody handing it to you which is great. They also have a Bargain Cave where if a item is Dent damaged or anything of that nature they mark it down and everything in this one room. They have some great deals in there it may be a scratch or tear or Rip but you can get some good merchandise at a good price They have hundreds of fishing rods hundreds of guns sleeping bags shoes anything you need for the outdoors they have it. They also give a 5% discount for all law enforcement and Military. I am going back just to take a better look at things because this was opening week so the place was a little packed so I can get the full effect come on down and join me. read more

Well I'd been waiting for the opening of Cabela's here in NM for over a year. Drove to ABQ from my place outside Santa Rosa, about 125 miles West. Took my son there for his first ever visit to a Cabela's. What a disappointment. After being to so many other "total experience" stores, this one was typical "New Mexico", half-baked. It was like Cabela's "light". Small, one level, and no aquarium display ??? We could have just as easily visited Sportsman's Warehouse. Walked around for a bit but made no purchases. A real disappointment. I see no reason to go back there. read more

We had to return a pair of sunglasses to "Sunglasses Hut" within Cabela's. Not only was the lady, Greta, incredibly rude and dismissive and unbelievably unprofessional. She was asking pointed questions about "where we were from" (my mom is brown-skinned) and making bizarrely snide remarks. She also tried to claim "30 day return policy" and treated us like we were idiots. DESPITE the fact that we returned something to Cabela's itself that was purchased on the same day successfully. Nowhere on the receipt does it show that Sunglass Hut is separate from Cabela's, and nowhere on the receipt does it say the 30 day limit. We were told 45 when we purchased but then the manager of this location said 60 days. Joseph, the aforementioned manager, came over and cleared things up super quick. He was professional and respectful and the only reason this review isn't 1 star. There needs to be more communication between the teams. Also, we spent thirty minutes waiting for her to complete some kind of, I don't know what this guy was doing. He was on the phone and on and off and they couldn't do a transaction because he was in the middle of his. Joseph also cleared that up soon as well. Joseph was awesome and would get 5/5 stars, I wouldn't even give Greta one if I didn't have to.
