It's great for kids to see the vast array of North American game animals as well as the giant fish tank that kids can press their noses against and be face to face with walleye, bass, crappie, catfish and other species. The restaurant is decent, prices overall are higher than specialty online stores. Convenience is the key to getting your weekend camping, fishing, shooting or hiking gear. I placed my order online and they promptly charged my debit card for the purchase I made, 08/05/2020 ( that was the last time they were prompt about anything to do with my order). I received an email a few days later that stated my product was ready to be picked up. I went to the store to pick it up. I was told since it was a firearm I would have to do a background check. which could take up to 31 days. ( had figured that the background check had already been done. since they had told me to come pick up the item). Nope so I patiently waited the 31 days. On day 32. I received a phone call from them telling me that I did not pass the background check and they would have to refund my money. This was on 09/07/2020. I asked how long before I would receive my money. they told me 7-10 days. So on 09/18/2020 I called customer service because i hadn't received my refund yet and they told me I would have to call back on monday. because the department that handled refunds was closed till then.( they couldn't even tell me if a refund had been issued). So I called back on 09/21/2020 and after 1 1/4 hours on hold waiting to talk to some one I could not wait any longer so I decided I would have to do this another day. So on 09/23/2020 I went to website and struck up a chat with a customer service rep. it took 20 min to get a chat started. But I finally got through to Heidi O. I told her my situation and she told me she would get to the bottom of it. Well she emailed me back shortly after giving me a phone number to call and to ask for the payments dept. So I did just that. And they concluded that I was due a refund. And so I asked how long till I would receive it. They told me 2-3 days. So I figured that would be it. Well on 09/30/2020 I still havent received my refund. I called customer service to see what was up. The person I talked to couldn't tell me why my refund hadn't been issued and that she was to busy to handle it right then and she would have to call me back. I asked how long till you call me back she said hopefully by the end of day tomorrow. well she hasn't called me back yet. And still havent got my refund almost 2 month later for a product I havent even received. My suggestion is to never buy from Bass Pro Shops if you ever think you may need to return it . once they have your money in their clutches. they arent going to return it. Bass Pro, as a seller of outdoor goods is phenomenal. They variety of things available is fantastic, and even more amazing is the decor and layout of the store. The restaurant is my niece's favorite, mostly because they have friend stuff and a giant fish tank to eat next to. The food itself is not that great. Interesting interaction with Mr Wetzler the card services manager today. Asked for a manager after I left my Cabelas card at home today and asked for a temp card. I was told no by a professional lady who was very nice. Mr Wetzler never looks at my account and just gives me a blanket nope can't give you a temp card because you are not the primary. Tells me call the Credit Card company I ask for the GM and was told no one is above him for this. Call the credit card company and was told that he could issue a temp card me if I had identification and was listed on the account which they confirmed I was. We opened a joint account almost 10 years ago...we both are able to use the card. The credit card company apologized for the issue and placed a call to Bass Pro/Cabelas regional or district manager to discuss this while I waited. Came back on the line and are sending me 2 $50 gift cards for the trouble. Ordered my stuff online from my phone and the items I wanted will deliver tomorrow basically for free. This store is massive, I've never seen a store this big before. They have everything that you can think of from guns to boats to camping equipment. We go here every year for Santa pics. 7 yrs and running. it has gotten busier over the years. you'll end up waiting a good two hours for your pass time but once you're up it goes pretty quickly. I see a lot of people coming on thinking it's just a line to take the actual pictures when, really it's just to get the pass. as long as you know the process it's not disappointing. the staff was very friendly especially, the ladies at the fudge shop. just keep in mind you will be waiting in long lines during the holiday season. read more

Always love to browse at Bass Pro, but what really makes a company good is how they handle problems. I received an order for some ammo I bought online (at a great price with free shipping!) and when it arrived each of the 5 50 packs I purchased had damaged packing. They come 50 rounds in a plastic container, and each of the containers was damaged, 2 almost beyond use. I called, hoping to just run down to the store an exchange them, silly me, you can't return ammunition and they told me that. As the ammo was still good, just the packing was damaged, I figured I'd call it a wash, but they stepped up with a gift certificate and a coupon for a future order. Wow, I feel like I took advantage of them, and told them that, but they insisted. Beyond that, the lady that helped me was kind, courteous and efficient. And a person answered the phone! We are in the market for a boat so we took a look at a 2014 Pro 170 that was advertised on there web site. When we saw the boat, we were in shock! The carpet was worn through in multiple spots to the point that the decking underneath was cracked and warped. Went in to try and find someone and no one seemed interesting in assisting us. Went back a couple days later and basically the same experience. One salesperson trying to answer phones and help in store customers. Spoke with a manager named Terry in regards to the condition of the boat and his response was...'since we have discounted the boat so much, there is nothing more we could do.' I asked the salesman to run the numbers and it turns out, the wrong price was posted on the boat! Since the price dropped even more I put a deposit down. Reflecting on my experience to this point, I cancelled and am looking elsewhere for a boat. I will not feel safe taking my family or anyone for that matter, out on the open water in this vessel! Also, if there is a warranty issue, I have no confidence in the Bass Pro staff to take care of it. When managers do not care, why should the other employees? What to my wondering eyes did I see, not just a place for the fishing type no sir or ma'am not at all! They had anything and everything a boy, ok 32 year old Man but still, could want. I mean quads and tents and dog equipment and ammo and guns, yeah they had some fishing stuff out and about too ;) The only downfall was the credit card people there trying to get you to sign up for credit card then free ocean boat ride. Stipulations being you've got to be so old and married. I was in Iraq for a year almost 13 years ago, and they eventually told me I wasn't quite the right type for the trip... Pretty disappointed. Came in to buy some fishing gear. I had a shopping cart and spent about twenty minutes in the fishing section. Not one person asked me if I needed help. One guy was loading shelves and said hello when we caught eyes. I saw maybe four guys and not one offered. I also went up looking for ammo. Wow! We came here on Saturday afternoon. Just to look at everything and check it out. What a wonderful place in it's own way. It was packed, the parking lot was over flowing. I really did not understand why until we got inside. They had turned it into the best place ever for Children. This is the sort of place I wished they would of had when my children were young. They had had Breakfast with Santa that morning. The price was so reasonable. Children under 2 were free and all other children were only $5.99, Adults were $11.99, and they are having it again on the 22nd of December as well. After the wonderful Breakfast with Santa, you could line up and have your photo taken, then they had coloring stations and craft stations. It was decorated like a fabulous North Pole, Willy Wonka Movie set. At least I thought so! There was a wonderful Merry go Round with cool woodland animals on it. Free! Yes I know amazing Free Merry go round and it was a cool one as well. Lots of kid events going on all through out the store as well. Although this place is so huge, it is like a huge amusement park under a covered roof! Upstairs there was a shooting range for kids like the one at the old Rawhide,but it was nice and clean and had taxidermist animals all around. I love Animals ,but I know that hunting is a way of life for some people, so at least Children can see what the animals look like in there real setting here to a point. They have a giant fish tank filled with fish and a stream going through the store that has real fish swimming in it. Then they have a candy shop in side the big store and they were doing free Christmas crafts with the kids as well. They even have a huge restaurant that has a Salt water tank the size of the wall. I always love going here because of how huge it is and how many fantastic and wonderful guns they have in the store. I always seem to have a limited selection of ammo and if you times I went there expecting to get a specific item that I thought for sure they would have but didn't. I would say that it is a great place to visit if you are shopping specifically for guns knives bows etc. but not necessarily something specific. You can spend hours here but I don't really recommend it if you are looking to get in and out quickly - dicks sporting-goods or Sportsmens warehouse may serve you better in that circumstance. This is one of the hubs places he likes to go to & look around. It's entertaining enough for me especially when on a hunt for a not so hideous flannel for the flannel ball this last NYE (unfortunately no luck there). I also have experienced the archery class with my sons scout troop back in the day. They were beyond patient with all of the exuberant boys. That was a fun trip for sure. I've also purchased a low end bebe gun for the kiddo that only fired a few times before jamming so don't go low end on those things it's not bueno. We also have had a venture crew Christmas gift wrap event. The customers were all kind & again patient with the teens gift wrapping skills & generous with their donations for sure. Bass Pro, believe it or not, took a stand with Bank of America against gun rights. I know that sounds weird, but hear me out, and then research it yourself. McMillan Firearms (based right here in AZ) had banked with BofA for many, many years. One day a VP from BofA went and told McMillan that they didn't want to do business with them anymore because McMillan was in the gun business. Then McMillan asked other gun related businesses do not do business with BofA, but Bass Pro actually came out in support of BofA. The connection? BofA runs Bass Pro's credit card network. I ordered a fishing rod as a Christmas present and was told it would be here within 2 weeks. I ordered 3 weeks in advance just in case. It was supposed to be delivered in a few days but I still had not received a shipping notice or tracking number so I reached out for an update. I was going back and forth with customer service and they were no help by saying there was nothing they could do until it reaches the day it is supposed to arrive by. The day came when it was supposed to be delivered by at the latest and they finally told me it's in the manufacturers' hands and to contact them. I did just that and received much better service. However, I was told by the manufacturer that this rod was on back order. I reached back out to Bass Pro to tell them this information and they denied that it was on backorder and told me to reach back out to the manufacturer. After dealing with many customer service reps who could not give me a simple answer as to when my item would be arriving, it is safe to say that I will NEVER be ordering from here again as they could not even notify me of this status. At this point, it was too late to even order some thing in time for Christmas and they did absolutely nothing to compensate me for their error. I am beyond disappointed. read more

Writing this review makes me angry because I have always loved this store. Being from the Midwest, I enjoy looking at everything this huge store has to offer. The staff is always sweet and helpful--unless you are a woman shopping for a gun. I was prepared to drop over 600 dollars on a particular gun that I had been looking to buy for a while. I tried to get the attention of many of the salesmen but I watched them repeatedly skip over me to address the needs of other clientele, who of course were all men. And it wasn't that they just didn't see me. Here I was with cash in hand, knew what I wanted, and nobody would help me. The ironic part is, not one of the other customers actually bought anything. Mark spoke down to me, insulted my intelligence, and accused me of being a liar when I explained to him my living situation. I have never been treated with such disrespect in my life. Took my 4 year old to see Santa at their Santa's Wonderland event and he had a blast! The wait was about an hour and a half but it was our first time at Bass Pro and had plenty of time to shop! Every time My husband or I go in to the optics department we never get any help. The wait is always long, even if they don't have anyone else that they are helping. Then the optics clerk conveniently always finds something else that has to be done right then and there and has no time to help me. I am not a big fan of sportman warehouse stores but honestly this place is awesome even if your not into the out doors. I tagged along with my husband to look at some knives and I'm pretty sure we bought more things then needed. See woman can shop anywhere :) The service is really good and they really know there products. The gun counter was especially knowledgable on state laws and crossing state lines. I never write reviews but I had to write one because the service I got was horrible. We took our girls to take pictures with Santa and had to wait to get the pictures taken at a certain time. Which was fine. We walked around the store to see what they had and the lady who helped us where they have sweets didn't say one word to me. She didn't even look at me when I said thank you for helping me. One of the Elf's who were helping out well were getting our pictures taken was just plain out rude. Also my daughters were so excited to see Santa and they kept trying to talk to him. He didn't even seem like he cared to talk to any children. This place is always "a scene..." Sometimes its great, sometimes its downright hilarious, sometimes its the most depressing reference point to the denigration of the human species as we understand ourselves to be. The pros: - Ammo is reasonable. - Lots of north face gear. - Decent archery department. The cons: - Dead shit all over the walls... Try taking your animal rights supporting, vegetarian, liberal girlfriend in this place. Its a grand laugh, but you end up paying for it having traumatized your love interest. - Your fellow shoppers... Ok, call me a snob, but there is a time and a place to wear your pajamas. Outside, in August, when you're a 275lb bridge troll on a work furlough from whatever bridge they have in Apache Junction, is not the time or the person who should be sporting her Betty Boop capris and a string tank top. I'm sure if you're into hunting and killing things, this is the place to go. For me, hunting animals holds no appeal. I love shooting and archery, but I don't intend to hunt anything more than trees with my artillery. This place is a hunting store, first and foremost. If that's not your thing, there are better places to get your gear. However, that all being said, I do think someone here has a sense of humor as twisted as ours. As we were following the line of lumbering tons of humanity up the stairs, we looked to our right and saw a sign that read "Bear Hunting." Now mind you, right under it, was the skimpiest man's running outfit I'd ever seen. What would be a super tight t-shirt that when loaded with sweat would be translucent and a pair of Ranger Panties that wouldn't leave much to the imagination. This would have been the perfect outfit to throw a fit male into the middle of a pack of "bears" if you were trying to bait them out of the bar and into the mid-day sun of Phoenix. They have a very helpful staff, especially this fishing Dude named Issac, and they have just about everything you'll need for your outdoor enjoyment. However, I don't find their pricing very stimulating... They have an exceptional inventory, but you are going to pay full retail prices here. I prefer to get outdoor gear on e bay or at Walmart, at discounted prices. But, its a very fun place to browse and shop. The restaurant is pretty good too, and also fun! read more
