I'm not a huge outdoorsman, although before I moved to the surface of the sun (AKA Orlando) I was much more-so of one. There is an old joke about "if we don't have it, you don't need it" and I would bet that applies at Bass Pro Shops. This place is massive and has anything I could imagine you would ever need for outdoor activities. It is neat that they have tons of stuff on display for you to try. My cousin refers to this place as "Hillbilly Heaven" and since he's a confirmed hillbilly, I'd say that's fairly accurate. They sell a lot of fishing supplies, guns & hunting supplies, bows, knives, camping gear, travel gear, etc. This place is so massive that you could probably list what they DON'T sell easier than what they do. In light of recent hurricanes, my wife and I each made Go Bags (AKA Bug Out Bags) with 3-days worth of "we have to flee town" supplies and upgraded our home's hurricane kit to be a lot more comprehensive. We have a friend who is a survival instructor and he was kind enough to help us assemble both. The reason I mention that is because BPS was an excellent place to purchase some of those items. He walked around the store with us and showed us the differences between some of the tools he was recommending. BPS was great because they sell a wide variety of options for most items. We loved being able to see what he was talking about. Now, you may not have a personal instructor like we did, but I'd make a strong bet that the folks that work here might could give you some of the same feedback. This store had it all. read more

I went to the 800 # and placed an order with was confirmed to be at the Orlando location. I went to pick it up 2 days later only to be told that the item had been shipped from west Virginia......I ask why it would be shipped in when they have 5 in stock, the clerk checked and confirmed it was in fact in stock. After a long ordeal with the store and the call center I will now be waiting 7 to 10 days for my item that I could have walked in and picked up myself.....so much for customer service. POOR SERVICE AND WORSE EXPLANATION AS TO WHY I WOULD NOW WAIT AND MAKE ANOTHER 38 MILE TRIP BACK YO PICK UP!! read more

Traffic was so bad I needed a non-alcholic diversion for 45 minutes. This stop was an easy fix for that need. Their HUGE aquarium is simply incredible to just take in and watch for a couple minutes. Not you usual aquarium bio-livestock either, which adds to the uniqueness of it all. The store is so well stocked in so many different departments. I ended up getting a rain pair of Costas since my Serengeti's bit the dirt. What a fine selection of both glass and plastic lenses and frames. Better inventory than their website in having brown glass lenses in a brown frame. Costa doesn't even bother with that simple match up in all of their on line inventory. Has to be ordered. Friendly and helpful counter help. Almost weakened to buy some Maple nut Goodies and burnt peanuts knowing there are only a few places with this kind of snack stuff. read more

Been a long time since we've been to Bass Pro Shops... finally made the trip and not sure I'll be back anytime soon! Purchased well over $200+ worth of merchandise BUT while trying to purchase sandals I had to ask 2 people to get someone to help us. It took well over 5 mins of standing around waiting to buy a $110 shoe. Honestly if my husband didn't need this particular type shoe/sandal that he hasnt been able to find anywhere I would've walked out and not purchased anything!! If you're outdoorsy in any capacity - this is your shop. They have everything from fishing, boating, camping, hunting, and more! The large fish tank in the middle is quite neat to see, and the kids seem to love it. They do have a time share place in their store that has people coming up to you. We tried to say no nicely twice, and ended up having to just flat say no we aren't interested before she left us alone, that was super annoying, and something I don't enjoy inside of stores. I just want to look around and shop, not be harassed about buying time share space. The store offers a small cafe and they have several food / snack options both there and at the registers. It does connect to the main building of Artegon, so you can come in and out there, but the register bays are only on one side, which is the side that faces out to the street, not the main building side. Overall: B Plenty of neat things to look at, even for a non-outdoorsy person like me. I love the Bass Pro Shop! I do not hunt but I love fishing, even though I haven't done that in years!! But the BOS are so much bigger here in the USA! Lots of variety in the shopping - men's, women's, kids, on top of hunting and fishing, camping gear, not to mention that it's a taxidermists show and tell in here! The one disappointment in this particular outlet IMHO was the standard fish tank in here did not have hoards of bright colourful active fish. Still, it's a "must see"! If you're looking for outdoor hunting/fishing gear - this is the place. The selection of in-stock items is tremendous compared to most other stores, and then you always have the option to order from their website. Obviously you will pay a little more for the items than you can probably find them for on other websites, but the convenience of being able to try them on and buy them in-store makes up for the little bit of savings. Placed an order online to purchase and pickup a surf rod at my local Orlando store on 11/30/20. I got an email confirming my order that same day. I heard nothing about my order for 10 days so break down and contact them via the online chat. They tell me they don't have a confirmation on when it will be ready to pickup and that they put an 8 day freeze on all online orders but the warehouse it's coming from says it is processing as of 2 days ago so it "should" be leaving any day now but they were not certain. How broken is your fulfillment process when you do nothing with a customer order for over a week and then begin to pull the order two days ago but haven't actually assigned the order to ship and she said there isn't anything else she can do for me. It's one item and a pretty common item for anglers in this state. I tried calling the store directly which was the direction I received from the representative from the online chat and let the phone ring for 10 minutes. Nobody even picked up the phone. I'm cancelling the order (or getting a refund) and buying the surf rod from another local shop. Their online sales process is broken. I would not recommend buying anything online from Bass Pro. I've shopped in person and had good experience but somehow in 2020 they can't seem to figure out how to process a very simple order or even pick up a phone to explain what happened. read more

Cute store. Has a lot of selection for any outdoor enthusiast. We came to see Santa. Love that they give you a free photo. Santa was behind plexiglass because of coronavirus but at least we didn't have to wear masks in our photo. We bought the extra package with more photos because we thought they did a great job. You can barely tell there is plexiglass there in the photo. They had some really great displays set up around the store. Worth checking out, especially around Christmas to see Santa. read more

Made my way through Bass Pro Shops for the first time and have to say, I was wowed. It is a really well merchandised store with lots of displays to catch your eyes and ignite impulse buys. Every department is clearly marked and well themed to help you find whatever you may be looking for but you will most likely get sidetracked somewhere along the line by items that weren't necessarily on your shopping list but are suddenly in your sights. There is just so much here. A fair amount of what's in stock does not appeal to me - anything to do with guns, archery or fishing, for instance - but it was still fascinating to see the variety of gun lockers to wide range of fishing lures - fresh and saltwater - there are for sale. I found a clothing clearance rack upstairs with name brand goods for pretty good prices. And a nice selection of tops, pants, shorts, dresses and swimsuits for women on the main floor. A small cafe in the center was a nice surprise and certainly a welcome place to sit, refresh and refuel before returning to the sort, seek, select and shop from the amazing array of, well, stuff. There are kayaks and boats, tents and grills, snack foods and bug spray, sunglasses and swimsuits. Can't list it all and can't think of anything that someone with an interest in the outdoors could not find here. It is quite spacious and jam packed so you can quickly forget how much time you have spent before hours go by and easily forget which way the exit is to get to your car. I really loved seeing what the big deal is about Bass. One opens in Brandon soon and I know I will enjoy seeing how it compares to the Orlando location. read more

While I'm not a fishing expert, I can definitely assume that this place is heaven for anyone who does fish as well as those who have very specific outdoor hobbies. This place is gigantic. But it is structured very logically and for the most part, you can find whatever it is you are looking for. Unless you are my friend, who never found a very specific type of chatter bait he was hoping to purchase for his next fishing trip. This is why I took a star off. A novice like myself would have NEVER thought a fisherman would not be able to find their preferred bait, as they have a gazillion varieties here, but alas, I suppose they don't carry everything. Otherwise, this place is kind of awesome. There is a live tank in the middle of the store with some pretty big fish in there. They hold live demonstrations and they seem really informative and overall kind of fun to watch. The parking lot is huge and the facility is very easy to spot. I've passed by here hundreds of times and finally stopped by with my fiance to do some Christmas shopping. Now I'm sad that I didn't come here sooner. It's a really fun shopping experience, whether you love animals or simply love to hunt them! Upon arrival, I was greeted with the mouthwatering aroma of fried onion rings, prepared at the outdoor food kiosk. I thought the hot dog stand in front of Home Depot was tempting... but this is another level of state fair food awesomeness. Beside the food vendor kiosk was a Bloodmobile. Surprising combo... but equally tempting? If you get low blood sugar after giving blood, you can fix the problem with a healthy dose of deep-fried goodness. Win-win-win. Upon entering the store, I was in complete awe. It reminded me of my first trip to Magic Kingdom... and the thrill of seeing Cinderella Castle for the first time. There's so much to see, do and explore at this store. From the giant fish tank to the merry go round to the shooting games and the massive taxidermy displays, this store is simply exhilarating. And overwhelming. It's easy to get lost... or lose track of time and find yourself here for days, practicing your survival skills and gorging on cinnamon pastries from the indoor quick-service restaurant. Overall, Outdoor World offers a thoroughly engaging and entertaining shopping experience. My only criticism is that the book / guide selection is seriously lacking. I came in search of interesting survival guidebooks and hiking maps, but left empty-handed. So if you need guidebooks and maps, check online first. Only went to see Santa. They do not allow the children to speak to Santa ONLY take a photo with Santa. That's complete crap. It's not about a photo. You can keep your photo. It's about the children being able to tell Santa what they want. The Santa himself told me that they won't allow him to speak to the children bc he doesn't have a enough time. Then charge people a few dollars. I'd gladly pay for my child to interact with Santa over a free photo. Sad that even Bass Pro has lost what Christmas is about (for the children)!! This is typical big box shop - price is way too high, often higher than MSRP. And color choice could be very vanilla. If you are from foreign countries it will make sense to sop here, I'm sure it's still cheaper to shop at Bass Pro than back home. If this Bass Pro Shop was in Orlando, say, thirty years ago, I would have most likely been a frequent shopper. Several of my friends from my younger days either went hunting or fishing. And a few friends of mine were certified scuba divers. Many a weekend during the autumn/winter seasons, we would either be up in the Ocala National Forest or other places around the state. I do not hunt or fish. I have never been a novice of firearms, and a fishing pole in my hands usually landed an old boot, tire, or tree limb instead of that large mouth bass my friends would catch. Snorkeling was fun, especially in the springs throughout Florida. I could honestly say that Bass Pro Shops has just about everything for the outdoors. Whether it be hunting, fishing, or camping, they got it. If you do hunt, they have a large selection of rifles and bows. And if you fish, their selection of fishing poles, gear, and anything else for anglers is impressive. Bass Pro Shops even have the boats to go out on the water for when the fish are biting. Or if you just want to spend an afternoon on any of the lakes around Central Florida. I always enjoyed camping with friends. Although I neither fish or hunt, I love loading up the camera and going on a photo shoot. The excitement of getting that photograph of a deer in the wild is fantastic. Same with an alligator. Providing you are on one of those boats. If you "rough it" like we did, Bass Pro Shops has everything for your camp. Tents, sleeping bags, cots, lanterns, and anything that runs on either batteries or propane. Their selection of propane grills is impressive. So if you are looking for a outdoor grill on the patio, this is where to go. They even have a propane pizza oven. Or deep fryers, if you want to have a deep fried turkey for Thanksgiving. There are propane camp stoves and coffee makers, and even small camp ovens if you want to bake some biscuits. Even if the hunting and fishing was not good, at least we ate well at night. Drank well too! Coolers keep that beer cold really well! Bass Pro Shops have coolers of every size. Whether it is just packing a lunch or keeping your catch, the selection is fantastic. And if you like cooking out, Bass has just about every outdoor kitchen tool you will need, They even have a small selection of cookbooks with recipes for your catch. Their Uncle Buck's line of products include anything from batter for pancakes to hot sauces and seasonings. There is even a candy section for your camping needs. The clothing selection for men, women, and children is fantastic. One problem I had, however, was finding clothes for big and tall men. Their selection is not as good in this department. I did manage to find a few pairs of men's shorts. But that was about it. Camouflage is in great supply, but I could not find a pair of camouflage shorts, which was disappointing. Hence, four stars instead of five. More apparel for big and tall men would be great. Like I said, if it is hunting, fishing, camping, or just sitting on the patio poolside, Bass Pro Shops can help you out. Especially with their friendly sales staff. And a reminder. With hurricane season in full swing, this is the place to go if you need any emergency equipment in case the power goes out. I do not go camping anymore since I have become a creature of comfort. But I still have my Coleman stoves and lanterns. And they got me through the hurricanes in 2004. Just something to keep in mind. read more

Update 11/24/2021 - Wife and I came in for their great sale on Jeans and Flannel, picked up a few sweatshirts for stocking-stuffers, etc, etc, etc. But it continues to be an awkward, morale-crushing mess whenever we get to checkout because we're always stuck ringing up our purchases with Jacosta? Jacista? Jacota? Don't remember her name -damn- but the miserable woman at the register always brings us down when we're getting ready to leave. Between her judgy, condescending staring while ringing us up and criticizing our purchases, and her shakedown techniques to get more and more phone numbers out of us and constant pestering about their lame credit card, it makes an otherwise stellar Outdoor World experience always end on a sour note. Still, the hunting counter team is always on-point, ready to deliver solid service, the reps walking the floor are always helpful, and their selection of clothes, fishing gear, hunting gear, kayaking supplies, and cookery is top-notch. read more

I love out door world , I literally can walk around this store for hours and not get bored. My girlfriend and a couple we know roamed around for and hour . With amazing deal and awesome selections for Men and Women, and the kids , the whole family will be taken care off. A camper/hunter/outdoorsman's dream! But this place creeps me out. Why do they have so many employees standing near the entrance and exits? I get that theft is a problem in the retail world but why is this the solution? Also, turnstiles. The large Customer Service sign is on the wall that faces the store which means you have to go through the turnstiles to see where the Customer Service desk is, but you're supposed to return items before entering the store. This makes no sense and confuses everyone. The poor confused people then get angry and defensive when the Customer Service cashier accuses them of taking the items they're returning from the shelf without buying them. Also, why is a woman's size small more than twice the price of the same style shirt in men's size XXL? It's twice the material, same color and same brand. Perhaps this is more an issue with the clothing company (I'm looking at you Columbia) but it is ridiculous. $95 for a woman's shirt is not reasonable. I don't care if it wicks away sweat and keeps you cool while hiking. Otherwise, I guess this place isn't so bad. You know, if you like buying expensive hunting/hiking/fishing/etc gear while several employees stare at you from the turnstiles. read more

I really hate it when people refer to this place as a "guys place", "man land" and a "mans heaven"....What about the ladies, guys? I like this place a lotttt. For one, the prices are a lot better than Gander Mountain. (See my review there if you'd like specific details). But the Gun Safe I got here was remarkably cheaper than Gander. The place is huge, they have an excellent fishing tackle selection. I've purchased some Surfing Rods from them and line and some fishing equitment and have never had any problems with sub-par quality merchandise. The clothing is expensive, you can def get Guy Harvey and Columbia brand at other places for cheaper, but if money isn't an issue they have a huge selection. The guys in the archery department are beyond helpful and get you set up the right way. Also have bow-fishing stuff, that's been hard to find. Get past the tourist and people oooooohing and awwwwing over the fish tank and get your stuff, LADIES(who aren't prissy)--- you will have fun here too! read more

Absolutely horrible customer service by Natalie! Took almost 30 minutes to get checked out after the cashier screwed up the transaction, was rude when we asked her about apple pay, dropped our cash on the floor and didn't even pick it up and then had to cancel the transaction because she messed something up. She lost the tag for an item and then when it took her a long time to look for it, she didn't listen when we said 5 times that we didn't need the item anymore. Then proceeded to go through all of our items AGAIN and rubbed it in our face that she found the tag at the bottom of the bag she packed. She never apologized and was rude the entire time. This place is amazing. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. I took my boys looking for fishing rods. The team member we met was enthusiastic and helped each of my boys find rods, showed them how to tie knots, and even recommended outfitters who can take them (and teach them) fishing. The store is huge has all sorts of outdoor equipment of all price ranges. At check out the price of our rod rang up differently than what the team member had told us and they honored that price. They have anything you could think of...bedding, food, clothes, kitchenware, outdoor gear, its like Macy's for Country folks! Everytime I visit, I want to go see the fish tank, and when I do, I'm always bombarded with staff trying to sell promotional stuff. I have been in the last week or so looking for a new handgun and Jon in the firearms/hunting department could not have been more awesome! He really knew his stuff and truly was interested to know what my needs were for the firearm and helped me narrow down a bunch of choices. And then he went above and beyond in explaining key differences between each one! A lot of employees and stores will just shrug you off or push you toward the most expensive thing which really gets on you after a while. Anyway , the man deserves a raise/promotion!
