11/14/21 I used to come here often, and could spend hours window shopping. I understand why you are considered the "Walt Disney of the Outdoors". 11/11 to 11/14: Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighters and EMT's discounts, excluding firearms or ammo. I did not know that you merged/bought Cabela's for $5.5B in 2017, congrats. Quality/Quantity - Plenty of stuff and choices, as mentioned above, I can spend hours here. But you do not carry ski equipment, which is why I came here in the first place. Atmosphere - Plenty of easy parking. Huge space, organized and clean. Supporting the military and veterans. Additionally, you are already setting up for the Christmas holidays. No mask required during my visit. Service - Good service. Price - Good, but did not buy anything on this visit since there were no ski gear. Owner Suggestion - Congrats on being so "young", starting in 1972, and already having approximately 200 locations. Came here a cause we had never been and we wanted to look around. We had no intention on buying anything. This is a huge store with so much outdoor stuff! From camping to hiking to fishing -- all your outdoor needs can be found here. My son was excited to find an atv just his size. The large fish tank was awesome and the several boats you can look at and climb into were fun. There's a lot to look at here and we killed some time wondering around. read more

1 star for the man who didnt help me! This happened yesterday... It was extremely upsetting that I came in looking for a new pole and the person that I had asked to help me was not interested in helping me at all. He was stationed in the bait and tackle section. "It's by the salmon and the black and gold" is what he told me. Not helpful at all. But he was happy to help other people. I had to walk further away from the poles to find someone else to help. Thankfully I found Clyde with the mullet and he was more than happy to help me! Even went to the back to find me a pole. Came in to buy ammo before my camping trip and the older white gentleman at the firearms counter got into a argument with me about me buying ammo for my wife when I told him I wasn't. I made it clear we are making two different transactions. Attitude was horrible and I watched him help a white gentleman before me and had a totally different attitude and a super smooth transaction. Mine took way longer and way more questions which I get but the white gentlemen before me was out in minutes. My personal dealings with this company is very horrible. I bought my first boat at the ass pro shop brand new back in May of 2020. And on the actual day of pickup...I'm excited about hitting the water but couldn't because the ass bro shop deliberately didn't charge my boat batteries. Yes dead batteries in my brand new boat for starters. So 5yrs later currently... parts in service for boats continued there shitty service and deliberately missed placed the parts to my trailer that I traveled 1.5 hours in traffic from Fairfield to find out that parts department said they will put my parts with customer service but didn't and couldn't find it for 30mins...you guys win with this type of blatant lack of service. I look so forward to making the trek from Penn Valley to come and shop here on occasion - so much so I left a very positive review here in the past... I live an hour away... Not on this trip... This yelp goes to the Returns Dept. I think in the four years I have shopped at this store in Rocklin I have returned 2 items total. Both under $40 each time. This second time was NOT CASH, and I did have the receipt. I admit this return was a few days past the window, but again, NOT cash and I had a receipt. I would accept a store credit. The young gentleman at returns looked over the Accurite Digital outdoor thermometer with a fine tooth comb, which was fine as I tested the thermometer for a day and found it off by 4 degrees but mint condition with its box... hence my return. I said I was fine with a store credit before he asked. He didn't ask, and called the manager over (Beth?). While the two whispered just a few feet from me, he comes back and says they refuse to return the item at all... I asked for the manager, and I explained the situation all over again. I was made to feel like I was a thief trying to return stolen goods!!! Again I reminded her: Not cash, I have a receipt, and will take a store credit. FINALLY, I got a store credit. (Trans #105158 12:53 p.m). If customer service is going to be this bad, I have to take my business elsewhere. They leave me no choice. Does Bass Pro want to lose a customer over a $40 return? I spend hundreds each year, and endure their own people pushing credit cards and hard sells to purchase "trips". Which I got twice just on this visit! I told the girl pushing the credit card the horrible experience I just had with returns dept. She said "We have troubles with some of the Dept's, but not us in the CC promotions & Memberships".... I think Bass Pro needs to dig deep and try to get back to its former glory. I ordered a CZ 12 ga. side-by-side coach online and had it delivered to Bass Pro Shop - Rocklin. That part was easy. Every step after that was like pulling molars with a pair of tweezers. I ordered the shotgun on Aug. 12 and got an email notification Aug. 26 that it was ready for pickup. Since this was past the 10-day waiting period, I went to Bass Pro Shop to pick up my $1265.26 birthday present to myself. After waiting half an hour for someone to acknowledge me - no greeting, no "be right with you", I just sat there for half an hour - I was finally seen, only to be told that a) I needed to wait ANOTHER ten days due to California law and b) since my CCW permit would be expired by then, I needed to buy their gun safety certificate. That didn't sound right to me, but I agreed. After ten days, I tried to call to see if I could come pick it up. After 25 minutes on the phone and trying five different departments, I finally got someone to answer the phone. I told them nobody was picking up at Firearms and I just wanted to know if I could pick up my shotgun yet. The employee on the other end took my name and number and said they would personally run it over and ask them to call me back. Naturally, I never heard back from them. Today (the Saturday after), I went down, positive that it had been more than ten days. After waiting another 20 minutes to be acknowledged, I was finally treated to the sight of my boxed-up shotgun ready to go...except that they "forgot" to let me know that I needed a separate background check specifically for this purchase, for some reason, and it would be ANOTHER 10+ days before I could pick up the gun I had already paid nearly thirteen hundred bucks for. At this point, I just asked for a refund. The one bright spot of this whole fiasco is that the return was relatively painless (so far - I'm waiting to make sure the money actually hits my account). But it's sad when the smoothest part of the whole transaction is them pissing away a $1265.26 sale because of horrible customer service. Almost as if they're so practiced at refunding money due to incompetence that they've accepted it as a business model. Bass Pro Shops not only lost a $1265.26 sale, they also lost a customer, and for such a ridiculous reason. I have been to Bass Pro shops many times this particular store quite a few times, my grandson calls it "the fish house". So I typically come here within enthusiasm today I came here to look at guns and the gentleman behind the counter was shockingly bored with his job. Showed limited knowledge, which is shocking to me for this store, they because everybody seems to know what they're doing here. He was rude. Acted put out that he had to open a case to show us a gun, and even with that had nothing to offer us with regard to help on details, Made us feel unwelcome. Very disappointing. FFS do something about your firearms department. For starters, there are 3 different processes to wait in line. Scan a QR code and register to look at something, ring a bell if you are picking up, and get in line for ammo. I have now done all 3 with bad experiences. 1st trip scanned the QR code and was 1.5 hours to get help. Meanwhile, people are just walking up to the counter to get help. QR code seems like good tech and all 3 processes should be done that way but your employees can't use a computer so they just ignore the qr code line and randomly choose someone to help. Idk maybe just do numbers like everyone else. I ended up buying online and having shipped to the store because the price was too good to pass. Coming in the store to do my background check was even worse. I got to the store at 7:30 pm and didn't get helped til after 9 (only because they were closing did someone finally want to help. Finally finished up qt 9:30. Its clear your employees are taking a break every time they disappear to the back to grab a gun or have the manager sign off on paperwork with how long it takes. A bunch of grumpy old dudes that can't work a computer are running background checks? It would speed the process up if they talked less politics and stopped complaining about their employer to customers. There were a couple people working who were nice and helpful but they are the minority. One of the guys who was helping me couldn't figure out why his computer wasn't working. Spoiler, the power was off and he couldn't grasp that the moniter is not the computer. Since using a computer is a big part of the job, you might want to train employees who struggle with tech. Or just put them in fishing. read more

This is a very nice store and it's a fun place to hang out and look at their incredible variety of products to fuel your outdoor fun. The place almost seems like a theme park. The store itself and the products are nice, but our encounter with the staff leads us to one conclusion: Don't shop here unless you find joy in being treated like crap. We decided to visit the firearms section at the back of the store. What we encoutered was the single worst cusomer service experience I've had since going to Napa Auto parts in Woodland, CA. I think this was actually worse - which given how bad the Woodland Napa is, this is quite an achievement. I was polite the entire time and just endured the abuse. But now that I'm home and pondering the experience, I'll put it this way: People have a lot of names for someone like this...Richard, Johnson, John Thomas, Peter, Captain Winky, Willy, etc. In Bass Pro Shops he goes by the name "Kevin." Kevin was a police officer, but now he works at Bass. He really shouldn't because Kevin seems to be very bitter, and treats customers like dog feces. It's so bad it's almost comical. I'm not sure what the other recent reviews are talking about it because masks were required and all staff were wearing them. I'm sure like other places sometimes stubborn customers will take them off in the store but I can attest that they were required. In one trip we visited three chain outdoor shops (Cabela's, Scheels, Bass Pro) and this was my son's favorite! It wasn't necessarily the biggest (and it definitely was in competition with Scheels) but I can't believe how long my non-shopper was there! Two hours in the fishing section. I don't typically review stores so I'm not even sure what to say other than it was clean, staff was friendly, they had more than everything he wanted, and prices are what you would expect. Even though we only stopped because it was in route to our destination, I think it could be worth the 2 hour drive next time. :) read more

Santa bookings are an absolute JOKE. Says that time slot open at 12:01am for the next week to schedule an appointment. I have been trying to book a photo appointment for 3 days and have made a point to stay up or set an alarm just to book the session for the system to slow the date in bold as if appointments are available but when you go to the date it says unavailable/fully booked. Is impossible to be filled booked at 12:01am if that's the time it opens. I like to think all Bass Pro Shops are created equal. I've been to San Jose, Manteca, and now Rocklin Bass Pro. This one seems more geared towards hunters. They have limited selection on women's clothing at this location compared to others. But I love Bass Pro. It's my Disneyland away from Disneyland. My 2nd time here and will definitely not be coming back again ever or shop at another Bass Pro Shop. I went to pick up an online order for ammo today, 5/28. I get to the counter and I hand the employee my driver's license and I let him know that I am also handing him a fishing license with my current address. He looks at my fishing license and tells me it is expired. I tell him that it is impossible. It was literally just bought today and I used it as my secondary info to purchase a fire arm before I came there. He tells me that it expired 5/27. I again insisted that it is impossible. He says he needs to speak to his supervisor or manager to see if it can be used. He comes back and says it can't be used because it is expired. So somehow, both of these employees did not clearly read the license correctly to come to the same conclusion. I am already getting frustrated and annoyed. He hands me my fishing license back, and I read it to him, EXPIRES 5/27/2026. He pauses for a moment and then realizes that we are still in 2025. Holy cow!!! How the hell do you have 2 employees fail to read a license correctly?! Not even an apology. The couple next to me could already see my frustration. I'm a practical shooter and as a member of the IPSC and the USPSA I own a lot of firearms and have years of competition experience, probably more than the dipshit old man behind the counter. No customers were at the gun counter. Behind the counter was one older man (age: fifties, short white hair, no facial hair) he looked right at me and instead of asking if I needed anything, turned his back to me and pretending to move stuff around on the counter. He walked back and forth avoiding eye contact and stood just far enough away from me, so I couldn't talk to him. I thought he was maybe avoiding me because his shift was up and he was waiting for someone else to show up and didn't want to start a conversation before he left. But then a young man walked up right next to me and he immediately came over and asked him if he needed help and they started to chat and he started to show him guns. I was standing right next to the man and glaring at the employee and he refused to make eye contact with me. He literally pretending I didn't exist. I waited for 5 minutes and then decided he didn't deserve my money. So, I went to Marin Firearms and purchased a gun, a bunch of amo, a new gun bag and some other equipment. I'll never go to Bass Pro Shop again and I'll tell everyone I know to avoid this CLEARLY SEXIST bullshit of a shop. Hard to believe this still happens in this day and age. And if you have kids, they have a big fish tank with some pretty cool looking fish in there....swimming around. If you haven't been there , I suggest that you try to make some time to go. Covert racism. Buying a firearm at Bass Pro Shop is a disaster. Lackadaisical employees and extreme slow and confusing service. Management just don't seem to care about losing business, especially if you are a minority walking in. From first moment I walked in, the atmosphere is very unwelcoming. Don't get me wrong, the decorations are cool to look at, selection of products are abundant, but customer service is terrible. It only gets worse when I had to get assistance from the employees. I'm not saying all Bass Pro Shop employees have poor customer service or are racist, but I'm certain several of them treats their customers differently based on skin color and perception. If you don't believe me, just stand back and observe the interaction between their employees of "different" customers. After a bit of research I online I am not surprised why I felt this way inside the store. I am just shocked they are quiet okay with letting their customers/patrons experience every bit of it. Needless to say, I decided not to purchase from this business and I will never come back to any Bass Pro Shop. Great shop like walking into a log cabin with plenty of holiday items and gift ideas for anyone on your list besides just fishing supplies! They also do free santa photos with the option of purchasing photo packages and Christmas cards! While we were there they had a craft area and kids playing areas as well! My 1st impression on Bass Pro shops when I walked through the entrance was "Im outdoors" haha. If you are the slightest of an outdoorsy person, you'll love it here. A grand entrance that appears to look like you are entering a cozy cabin filled with taxidermy that comes equipped with a waterfall and pool of stripers, sturgeon, bass and other aquatic critters. I went out to Bass Pro to take a look at their firearms. Its been a tough market for awhile and I went in with no expectations other than to see what was in store. I showed up on a Saturday morning about half an hour after opening to a huge line in the firearm department. I was surprised but not shocked as it's like this are most firearm stores. I took my dad so he can take a look too and give me his opinion on the selection. We hopped in line and before we knew it. an hour went by and the line had slightly nudged forward. We were on the brink of giving up when a few folks in front of us gave up pushing us to 2nd in line. We started up a good convo with the person in front of us and my dads many many years of hunting knowledge held us to sticking it out with some nostalgic stories. At this point, I really wanted to purchase a firearm. Once we got called on, They had a very limited selection, If you are looking for a Glock, GOOD LUCK! I would have been super happy to nabbed a Glock but was presented with a couple of options (non revolver). They had a few Smith & Wesson options (.40, 9mm) and a couple of Kimber .45s in stock. needless to say, I went and got the better option. Be sure to check online or call into the store and see what's in the shop. The customer service was ok. I can tell they are spread thin and the demand is high right now. It would have been nice to see a couple more people behind the counter. If you are going here for firearms, prepare for a smaller selection and a long wait. There's a separate line on the other side of the gun counter for just ammunition. a few people were waiting in the wrong line and it just slowed things down. Overall: The store is cool, there's so much to look at. it's really a great place for all your outdoor needs. Be mentally prepared for a LONG wait if you're doing anything firearm related. read more

IF YOU ARE A WOMAN I DONT RECOMMEND COMING HERE. Today I experienced extreme sexism at the gun counter. I went in to look around at fish, buy a hat, and get a boresighter for my dad. I of course have no idea where to find a boresighter or where it would be. So I went to the firearms counter hoping to find help. They instructed me to wait in line. I did for a long time. When the man at the counter finally helped me (after he ignored me, and help another man who cut me in line) he helped me. I wasnt sure exactly what I was looking for so I just showed him the screenshot of the item my dad sent me. He helped me find it and then proceeded to walk me to the ammo counter. He showed them to me and I picked some out (not knowing there is a prosedure and a background check and that you had to have a gun) I was lost and trusted his guidance. However, as soon as we got to the counter, and I gave him all my info, he started berating me like I was a child in trouble telling me it got rejected and asking me personal questions regarding the purchase. He then accused me of lying. WHAT?!? I showed him the picture and everything what do you mean im lying?!? He at this point was yelling humiliating me to the point where I just walked away and checked out at the front with the rest of my items. I went back in to let their managers know. Thank goodness they were nice and reassured me that what he did was not Ok. but it really scarred me, and I will forever have PTSD from being DISCRIMINATED against and embarrassed. Bass Pro Shops is really an ode to machismo over all else. That's great if you're into that, because more than likely they'll have exactly what you're looking for, or reinforce whatever instincts brought you in the door in the first place. If not, to use a fishing idiom, you'll feel like a fish out of water. Even before you walk in, they've done a wonderful job of decorating the whole place like you're in the great outdoors. Sturdy wood beams, fake elk, eagles and turkeys dressing the rafters and a giant working waterfall...just because. For the hunters out there, you'll be inspired by the thought of the many animals you could kill. The whole vibe is further reinforced by a lot of camouflage, flannel and general clothing for long hours spent in the wild. It's all dressing, however, for the primary reason dudes come here - fishing supplies and weaponry. I came in in the morning and the place was virtually empty except for a line at the ammo counter. The gun selection is impressive, as is the fishing, but I suppose it should be. In short, if you're not a hunter or fisherman, anything else you might find here isn't very practical and is actually quite expensive compared to what you'd find elsewhere. But if you are, they want to be your home away from home. read more

We asked for help near the back counter and were pointed to a sign to take a pic of a login to get in line for help. I got 3 texts stating to continue waiting.
