Great shellac manicure and pedicure! I've been feeling frustrated with other nail salons near by lately because they are so pushy with upgrades and seem to rush through. I'm only giving two stars because my toes still look great, but I'm VERY disappointed in my gel mani I received this Mother's Day. I called ahead of time and specifically asked for Stacey who was actually on the phone and said she'd be more than happy to take care of me at 3PM. I had never been there before but got many recommendations by friends who raved about Stacey. I showed up SEVEN minutes late because the stupid GPS had me turn at the light and not into the parking lot before the light which is the only main road entrance to this nail salon. It's very hidden and even the owner and a couple of women getting their nails done said it's hard to find. Well Stacey was already doing someone else's nails who was getting a full set, I was pretty upset that in seven minutes she took another person who was more than likely a walk in cause I had a specifically asked for her. Instead she handed me off to one of the male nail techs, who was nice but like I stated many times before I came for Stacey and was expecting my money would go to her work. I got a spa gel pedi and a gel mani. All together it was $100, well worth it if it's done right and they put the effort in to make my toes and nails look great. I chose my gel polish for both and they had a bit of sparkle to them. Well he took it upon himself to find colors to put underneath because it's "prettier". I said that's fine for my toes but didn't think that was the case for the nails. I was wrong, he finished my pedi which was very pleasant and he took the time to pamper my feet. But I feel like when he finally got to my mani he was tired of the work and honestly just stopped trying. He did no cuticle pushing, hardly any nail filing and didn't really seem to prep my nail beds for gel polish. I picked a very modest pink shimmer gel and he came back with this hot hot pink base color and then I'm pretty sure got the shimmer gel I picked out mixed with the one he put on my nails because it was chunky silver glitter. When he put the base color on I wasn't fond of it but thought okay fine he says it will show up better this way that's fine. Well then the big chunky glitter came in, he was so MESSY with his application it was all over my skin and over my cuticles. And he cured it that way too! I kept looking at him like dude seriously?! I gave him the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe he'd clean it up afterwards since I hadn't gotten a gel mani in YEARS. Nope, just shoved his long dirty nail in the cracks and got what he could out and left me with what is pictured. It seriously looked like nails I had when I was in 7th grade. I was so upset I just wanted to go home and hope I'd like them eventually. Well it's a week later exactly and they've all already come completely off. I used to get gel mani's regularly so I know when they come off clean like this the nails were clearly not prepped right and they left gel on the skin/cuticles so that's why they are lifting so so easily. I'm so disappointed I spent $100 and also gave a nice tip when I hardly get my nails done ever anymore since having kids. This was a gift for me and now half is down the drain because this guy barely took the time. I was also even more upset because the owner Stacey who I made the appointment with to begin with bragged about how great he is and how he'd take care of me. I think she was just trying to make up for the fact that she was too impatient to wait a few extra minutes for me and instead of giving the walk in to the other guy she took them and left me with him who left me with ugly brittle chipped nails a week later. It's a good thing I'm moving and won't be looking for nail salons in this area. I will never recommend this place to any of the friends I've made here. read more

I am embarrassed for them. This was THE WORST gel manicure I have ever received. I just relocated to the Quarry area and thought I would try this place as it seemed to have decent reviews. I get regular maicures so it's not like my nails were difficult to work with. My technician tried to scrape my previous gel mani off without any acetone soak. I asked her to soak them off and she literally dipped my entire hand in a bowl of acetone. She barely filed my nails (I had to refile them when I got home so as not to snag my nails on my clothes they were so rough), she cut me twice with the cuticle trimmers, and then there is the polish. It is streaky and splotchy and on some nails the gel is overflowing onto my skin and on other nails it isn't even covering the full nail. It is so bad that I don't even want them to try to fix it. I am going to find another place this weekend to fix the mess that is my manicure right now. Save yourself the $38 and and find somewhere else or do them yourself. I guarantee you I could have done a better job. read more

Just wanted to rave about the pedi I had done here! It was so relaxing and the massage chairs were wonderful! I got the classic pedicure and they squeezed fresh cut oranges onto my legs before doing the scrub. Not only did it smell amazing it felt so decadent and not like any other basic pedicure I've had in San Antonio for the same price. The young woman with dark hair who did my pedi also did an awesome job! Will def be back for pedi. I do wish they didn't charge so much for shellac up charge. Most places charge $15 they charge $20. read more

Two friends and I were there Saturday and got the luxury pedicure and which meant according to the technician that you got an extra 15 minute massage in each foot. They were gentle but barely scrubbed your feet. Very nice people but it was like they were on a time schedule and hurried through. Apparently the nail polish is very cheap because after the pedi's we were told not to wear tennis shoes or other closed toe for the rest of the day and none us did, we wore sandals then were barefoot at our homes. We sat under the dryer for at least 5 minutes and were told by the tech we were done and could leave. Paid and tipped well, toenails looked pretty. The nail polish is halfway off and smeared one day later. After staying under the dryer the length of time the tech kept us under it, we all noticed nail polish smeared off. I will never go back simply because of the cheap polish they use. I paid $55 for smeared nails. SMH read more

I have been going to Basse Nails (every 3 weeks) for years and love it! David and Helen always take care of my husband and me. My fills are always great and I love the deluxe pedicure - green tea is my favorite although I do like the tropical too. My husband gets ingrown toenails easily and Helen is wonderful about fixing them before they get bad and he has to go to the doctor. My daughter also goes regularly and has never had a bad experience. The service is great, the cleanliness is above reproach, tools are always brought out in the sterile bag, and I get a cold beverage of my choice upon arrival (they serve wine also). I have been to several other salons here and in Houston and this is by far the best with reasonable prices. read more

I think the management has changed because when I was here many years back, i was not impressed and didn't care to return. Today I decided to return because my normal nail salon was too busy and I didn't want to wait. The man that greeted me here right away was very welcoming and attentive. They took me right away and sat me in a pedicure chair and offered me a drink right away. I had a glass of wine which I wasn't charged for so I think they probably offer 1-2 free alcoholic beverages while you're there, but I'm definite. They had a very large selection of polish colors to choose from. All of the staff was friendly and the music made it very relaxing. The girl that did my pedicure was very quiet but she did a great job as well. I may actually consider returning since it was a great experience for me this time and it's right on my way home. read more

Accidentally came here because we mistook out for Quarry Nails. Of course, looking for a relaxing experience, we decided to give it a chance. The pedicurist who did my feet was really disorganized and didn't seem to know what he was doing. A couple of times he started cutting the insides of my toenails and it hurt and I had to tell him to stop. I felt like I had to keep an eye on what he was doing so that I could make sure he wasn't cutting too short. When we were finished with that, he moved me to the manicure area to do my shellac and started doing my nails - he filed them too hard to get the shellac off and it burned- so again, I asked him to please not do that. By this point, another nail tech stepped in, probably because of the look on my face. She did an ok job, but I was not really happy with the experience overall - especially when I'm paying $70 for it. The icing on the cake, was when they tried to charge my friend $10 for sitting on one of the pedicure chairs while we waited for me! I said absolutely not - especially since they said it was ok for her to sit there and NEVER mentioned anything about it costing $10! The wine they served.... Tasted sour... So it sat there the entire time. Will not be returning. read more

I would highly advise against anyone visiting this establishment. First, let me say that I was a long time customer when it was under the previous ownership. Everyone was always outstanding and extremely courteous. In fact, I had never had a bad pedicure. I returned here many times for the same wonderful service. Unfortunately, it is no longer the same. The techs are rude and rough and the massage was not the same quality as before. At the conclusion of my visit, I presented my frequent visit card which had 7 punches, and was told that it would not be honored because Basse Nails has new ownership (this after a heated conversation while staring and pointing at me)I would have understood this had they changed the name, but it is still Basse Nails. In the end, I chose not to make a scene, but I certainly will never return. read more

RUDE! We took a 5 year-old girl to get a manicure for her first day of school. This was very important to her and she was taking a little longer than usual to pick her color. The EXTREMELY RUDE nail technician came up to us and told us to hurry because she did not have time to wait, she did this with a terrible attitude. I've been to Basse Nails a few times now and I will say I've enjoyed it each time. I've gotten the deluxe pedicure which was great, a manicure, and I discovered Shellac polish here for the first time as well! They have always done a great job but the only reason I don't give them 5 stars is because I'm not quite sure how they sterilize their instruments. I like the nail salons that sterilize using the autoclave and open the bags in front of you so you can see they are getting a fresh set. Also, the one time I got a manicure he accidently cut my cuticle which happens, but it freaks me out since I'm not 100% sure how clean the tools are. So, over all i'm a fan because I keep returning. It's close to my work and they have aways gotten me in quickly, they are super nice and usually offer something to drink. Oh! And other than the cuticle incident the manicure was beautiful and the second time I got Shellac done without the manicure, it was also beautiful! So yes, it's worth giving them a try! read more

The salon is nice inside, and they had a bunch of techs working. I had an appointment and didn't wait at all, they got started right away. I got a pedi and a gel mani and both are mediocre at best. It didn't seem like she was rushing so maybe my tech was new or just not great. Toes were not shaped at all, just cut and barely filed so still had sharp corners. Paint job looks like I could have done it myself. Nails don't look great either. Made me bleed twice while trimming my cuticles, none of them are the same shape (even after specifically pointing it out and asking her to fix it), finish on the nails is weird and uneven and it only looks ok because it's a very neutral color. I even had to point out to the tech that she missed the side of my nail while painting! Didn't seem like she understood any English, she had to ask a coworker to translate everything I said, which probably accounts for some of the disconnect. Other techs might be better but I probably won't be back to find out. read more

I wanted to try a new nail salon and I tried this one despite the bad reviews I read here and I regret it. This was the worst experience at a nail salon I've had in my life. I wanted my current overlay taken off and a new set put on with dipping powder. They greeted me while they had two other customers and let me sit with my nails in acetone for 30 minutes while continuing with their other clients and when they finally came over to me I asked them to just take off my current overlay since I had somewhere to be in half an hour and they seemed to be caught up with others anyway and the man taking off my overlay was unapologetic and was trying to scrape off my overlay with an acrylic nail, he obviously didn't know how to take it off. When he used the electric file he hit my finger with it twice and the second time it hurt quite a lot and I exclaimed that it had hurt and he muttered "meh", didn't even apologize for hurting me and tried to keep going to which I decided to leave without my nails done at all. He made no effort to stop me leaving and his manager didn't either. Do not go to this nail salon. Their customer service is hugely lacking and their attitude is terrible and they were mean. I also work in the service industry so I hate being this aggressive in reviews but I have literally never been treated that poorly in my life by someone. Absolutely do not get anything done at this salon. read more

I went to this place because I had a gift certificate and I will NEVER go back. When I walked in I was greeted by a rude man who immediately demanded to know "what I wanted." The gift certificate was for a deluxe manicure which includes a hand and arm massage and perifin wax. The massage lasted about one minute and after she put my hands in the wax she left to start a pedicure on another customer. When the manicurist finished painting my nails the polish was clumpy and uneven. In all honesty a child could have done a better job. I was disgusted by the service and ability of this establishment. Do not go here unless you want a flesh eating bacteria!!! They do not sterilize between customers!! I was a 1st time walk-in customer who wanted a pedi. They told me to take a seat in a pedi chair next to a lady who was getting her toes done. When the pedicurist was done with the lady's toes, she rolled the equipment cart over to me and was about to use the same utensils she used on the lady!! I asked the pedicurist "umm, are you going to sterilize those utensils?"!! She kept apologizing and went and got me sterilized utensils (i watched her) but needless to say, I kept watch on the other pedicurists/manicurists during my time there and sure enough... 2 other pedicurists did NOTHING with the utensils after their customer left!! They put the utensils right back into the cup holder on the cart. I kept thinking.. they are going to go back and replace those with sterilized utensils but nope!! They left them there to use on someone else!! DONT GO HERE!! read more
