As always to dine at a Peter Kelly establishment is an experience; he us his brunches are done and his new place in Chappaqua is no exception located with in walking distance to the train plenty of street parking and a lovely area ...Basso has all the ingredients to be an all star place to dine enjoy . By the end of ridiculously underpriced brunch we were stuffed and happily ready to go home to plan a return visit. His steak was perfect short ribs amazing and his deserts just incredible. Thank you Peter for being you !

Very good Italian food awaits at this relaunched Chappaqua restaurant. Top Chef Peter Kelly is back. It's great to see him again. The restaurant was full on a Saturday night. We had good professional service at a leisurely pace. Those customers who need to get in and out in 90 minutes would have been frustrated, but those of us enjoying a nice cocktail and conversation found the pace of service just fine. Basso is cozy and warm, and the decor is very pretty - accentuated by shelves with wine bottles. The menu and specials are fairly standard Italian restaurant fare, but some items such as black ink pasta with assorted seafood (excellent), short ribs (super tender), duck confit appetizer and sea urchin pasta stood out. Baked clams at an adjacent table looked delicious. Calamari was fairly standard, Chicken parm was a giant portion and very tender and tasty. Lamb ragu pasta could have used more spice notes like mint or cumin. Pasta cooked perfectly. My black squid ink pasta was a top evening dish. Order it. Tiramisu dessert was off the charts. Beer was cold and wine (decent pour) fairly priced. In order to be five (5) star great, with so many Italian restaurants in Westchester the menu needs a little more Chef Kelly magic. He should feature those gourmet items he creates so well. He has served more than 20 years of magic meals for our family, I'm sure he will do it again. BTW: bring back the Christmas party with Ned and Mary Lou.

My family and I came to Basso by PXK for their Sunday brunch. It is kind of like dim sum style where servers come around with food that you can choose to eat or pass on. They started off strong with delicious pastas and frittata. But once we got to the proteins, we started to become disappointed. The salmon and pork shoulder were not good. The chicken parm was just okay. The desserts and starters were the star of the meal. And the servers were great! They brought over extras of our favorite bites, like the pastas.

    The Pannacotta is also delicious!!

The owner is an absolute delight and a true artist. You can taste the passion and attention to detail in every dish. The Caesar salad was crisp and flavorful, the sausage and peppers were perfectly seasoned, and the braised chicken thighs with creamy polenta were incredible. Their fresh focaccia sandwiches disappeared almost immediately, and the pizza rustica was a huge hit. Everything was beautifully prepared, fresh, and delicious, making our celebration feel truly special. If you're looking for exceptional Italian food or catering for a special event, Mambo is the place. I can't recommend them highly enough!

Shoutout to Ana who is so warm and had great recommendations, welcome to us and our dog! We even made friends with another diner at the restaurant and hung out together on the rainy night. Our first time there and we won't go back. I compare all italian to Brothers in Beacon (this is the…read morebaseline that you have to at the least match) and this place just didn't hold a candle. The restaurant is small and cozy, wait staff was solid. They started with bread and oil which was a nice touch and offered a side soup or salad and both soups (Pasta e Fagioli & Lentil) were delicious. I ordered Eggplant from the pasta menu and received just a baked eggplant. The waiter took this opportunity to explain that it's accidentally under pasta (you would think upon ordering would be the best time to share this info ;). They were kind enough to bring me their other eggplant pasta. Penne, red sauce almost like a vodka sauce but darker and tiny bits of eggplant. My husband ordered rigatoni with meat sauce. He thought his was tasteless and I have to agree. Both dishes were passable but nothing to write home about. Their fish special however looked fantastic! I should probably share that growing up in the 80's near 18 Avenue in Brooklyn, I might be an Italian food snob! I'm not a good cook myself but I think I could have broiled pasta, opened up a jar of carbone and been just as happy with an extra $50 in my pocket, I might also be being harsh because this place gets superior ratings so we were hoping to be impressed and left disappointed.

The drinks were good but let's get down to the food. The bread is great - served warm and very fresh. This was an excellent start. Baked clams - very tasty and a solid portion. Salads - my house salad w/lite vinaigrette hit the spot and my wife enjoyed her Caesar salad. Complimentary w/ entree purchase is a plus! Entrees: my wife had the softshell crab special and my meal was the barramundi w/ cherry peppers over broccoli rabe. WOW!!!! I cook dishes like this at home all of the time but this was a nice change and I'm very glad I went with my gut instinct. My wife capped things off with an Expresso martini and we were off... Thank you to the staff and crew at Dolphin South for a wonderful date night! We will definitely return when we are back in town. 5 stars

But I will be back and will try the patio which I had really hoped for for my party but there was another private party or large and we were upstairs but my girl said it gave her the bday vibe she wanted. We had amazing drinks, bread, family style apps the Burrata and the meatballs to die for! There were a couple of steps up to the front entrance, so it's just a tiny bit tricky if you have a stroller or mobility issues. We came for dinner on a Friday night. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and you can specify your preference when booking. To start, we shared the mozzarella e pomodoro. The burrata was nice and creamy, but the portion size was on the smaller side. I loved the insalada di pere. The pears and gorgonzola paired well together and the champagne vinaigrette gave it a pleasant sweetness. My family also enjoyed the calamaretti fritti. For my main, I had the risotto ai fungi porcini. It was a bit bland and dry. My husband was happy with the pork chops. The zuppa di pesce was a nice portion size with plenty of leftovers. They provide complimentary bread for the table. Service was excellent. Great for date night or a family meal.
