Aug 2026, we have been going to Chief Peter Kelly Restaurants for years. What an amazing Chief everything he touches turns to gold. This restaurant is fabulous between the food and well lit interior this restaurant is a must try at least once or twice. Love sitting at the bar area to eat, it was very comfortable, and I liked the fact that they put hooks under the bar for my pocketbook. The Menu has a wide range of choices so there is something for everyone along with a nice list of cocktails and wines. Plus, the Menu prices are about average to what you would find in any fine restaurant in Westchester County. Loved the fact that they gave us a basket of home made Bread. - lots of restaurants have stopped that since COVID. My friend ordered the Spaghetti Pomodoro with Fresh Basil & Aged Parmigiano which was cooked to perfection. I ordered the Jumbo Sea Scallops Golden Raisins, Capers, Pine Nuts & Cauliflower - OMG! The Sea Scallops were the best Scallops I have ever had in a long time. They were fresh and not rubbery they cut easily with my fork. I am definitely getting this dish again if we come here in the near future. But, I will have to comeback soon because I am heading back to Pompano Beach Fla for 8 months. Wish Chief Peter Kelly would open up a restaurant in Boca Raton, I could only dream. read more

4.5 Recent visit to this restaurant in Chappaqua right next to the train station. Our reservation was honored on time and we were offered Al fresco dining on their outdoor patio in rear of the restaurant. In mid September this is a real bonus. The service was professional and top notch and the food was very good. We had chicken parm., pasta dishes- ravioli and one with sausage and broccoli rabe. Pricing was generally fair but some entrees such as the lamb chop were in the stratosphere. I don't need a $58 entree in my life :). The superstar of the evening was the peach dessert with ice cream-a simply outstanding dessert. It's a bit of a trip from where we live but I would go out of my way to return to this place again- and that says a lot. We saw Peter Kelly and management on the way out and they were warm and very personable. A real nice evening. read more

Brunch at Basso by PXK. For those of you who don't know PXK are the initials of Chef Peter X. Kelly. Chef Kelly has created an eclectic menu including cheeses and salami, olives, fresh Italian bread, salads frittata, pastas, risotto, pork shoulder (to die for, sirloin, clams,salmon, and dessert medley all brought table side and served in small portions. The restaurant is beautiful and on the modern side. Well lit, super clean, wait staff are polite and my water glass was never empty. The food is excellent and was served piping hot. Two seatings (11:30 and 1:30) on Sunday only. Even though it was raining the 11:30 seating was fairly crowded. We are familiar with Chef Kelly's brunches as having gone numerous times to his former Rockland County restaurant brunch. Street parking is available. Reasonably priced and reservations are expected. As always to dine at a Peter Kelly establishment is an experience; he us his brunches are done and his new place in Chappaqua is no exception located with in walking distance to the train plenty of street parking and a lovely area ...Basso has all the ingredients to be an all star place to dine enjoy . By the end of ridiculously underpriced brunch we were stuffed and happily ready to go home to plan a return visit. His steak was perfect short ribs amazing and his deserts just incredible. Very good Italian food awaits at this relaunched Chappaqua restaurant. Top Chef Peter Kelly is back. It's great to see him again. The restaurant was full on a Saturday night. We had good professional service at a leisurely pace. Those customers who need to get in and out in 90 minutes would have been frustrated, but those of us enjoying a nice cocktail and conversation found the pace of service just fine. Basso is cozy and warm, and the decor is very pretty - accentuated by shelves with wine bottles. The menu and specials are fairly standard Italian restaurant fare, but some items such as black ink pasta with assorted seafood (excellent), short ribs (super tender), duck confit appetizer and sea urchin pasta stood out. Baked clams at an adjacent table looked delicious. Calamari was fairly standard, Chicken parm was a giant portion and very tender and tasty. Lamb ragu pasta could have used more spice notes like mint or cumin. Pasta cooked perfectly. My black squid ink pasta was a top evening dish. Order it. Tiramisu dessert was off the charts. Beer was cold and wine (decent pour) fairly priced. In order to be five (5) star great, with so many Italian restaurants in Westchester the menu needs a little more Chef Kelly magic. He should feature those gourmet items he creates so well. He has served more than 20 years of magic meals for our family, I'm sure he will do it again. My family and I came to Basso by PXK for their Sunday brunch. It is kind of like dim sum style where servers come around with food that you can choose to eat or pass on. They started off strong with delicious pastas and frittata. But once we got to the proteins, we started to become disappointed. The salmon and pork shoulder were not good. The chicken parm was just okay. The desserts and starters were the star of the meal. And the servers were great! They brought over extras of our favorite bites, like the pastas. read more

Fabulous brunch. Incredible presentation Tasting all the best dishes of Italy. Starting with an appetizer of cheese and salami and omg the bread Then the continuation of all Italian specialities Pastas, risotto, steak, salmon , veggies too many delights to mention. Is this how Basso treats customers? We booked a June bridal shower luncheon at Basso in January and dined there several times afterward, each time offering to leave a deposit to firm up the reservation. Jonny repeatedly assured us it wasn't necessary and that our reservation was secure. Then, on May 1, he called to say they booked another, larger party for that afternoon and they were canceling our reservation. This was after invitations had been sent and guests had made travel plans. It is now too late to book another venue convenient to our guests.   So much for the warm welcome by Jonny and Peter Kelly, who was so welcoming when we told him of our plans to book his venue. Highly unprofessional level of customer service. I would urge you to think twice before booking one of Peter's restaurants for your event. read more

Basso has great service for a fully crowded restaurant. The ambiance is perfect. Nice and cozy. Peter X Kelly is America's best chef in my humble opinion, but a world traveler friend agreed, just as good as France. I've dined at all of Peter's restaurants and I'm so glad that he's here in Chappaqua. I've dined here two times and all of the food is outstanding and the choices are superb. The prices are worth every penny. The drinks and desserts are great too. Basso is now my favorite Westchester dining establishment and I dont have to drive into NYC for the best food. Peter is the best and he visits after dinner to say hello. I absolutely love Basso by PXK and highly recommend trying everything . read more

We really wanted to like this place but the experience was underwhelming. First, the bread came out cold. I have never had cold bread served at a restaurant. Even Cheesecake Factory warms the bread. Disappointing. My drink (raspberry martini) was so sour that even after adding more juice it was still too sour to drink. I asked to have it mixed again and it was much better but wow was it sour. It was also way too strong. Our dishes came out warm but not hot, like it would be if cooked fresh and hot. The chicken parm cutlet was overcooked- hard to cut and dried out, not freshly prepared. It was as if the chicken had been fried three days prior and reheated with sauce to add back the moisture it lost. The sauce was bland and the dish was salty. A cutlet should be crispy, juicy, and easy to slice. The color of the chicken was gray and tasted old. The ravioli's only hope was the sage butter but even that couldn't save this dish. Salty and the ravioli filling was dry. The wait staff are young and could not adequately answer questions about the dishes. Nice and friendly though. This restaurant has a warm ambiance and nice decor. It could be so much more. read more

Pasta was good but sauce was scant and average. Some steak was med-rare and other pieces so overdone they were charcoal. Pork was overcooked and dry. Chicken parm tasted like it was pre-frozen. Some clams were sandy. Some salmon had small bones in it. This is a poor location for a party of more than 8. It was crowded, noisy and a TV was blaring sports. read more

The servers are youngsters, not the professional crew one might expect. The food was pretty good but the salt level was much much much too high. Absolutely wonderful Birthday dinner! Especially recommend the Mushroom and Spinach Pasta and the Eggplant Pasta both delicious! We also loved the Grilled Octopus. Nice looking restaurant. Peter X. Kelly makes the dining experience 5 stars. He comes out to visit briefly and say hello. Hes really a master chef and makes everything taste superbly delicious. We've dined there twice and i cant wait to return. I tasted my wifes dishes twice and my dishes twice came out perfect. Im very fussy when it comes to eating out and the prices are definitely worth it everytime. The cocktails were creative and delicious. The desserts were great too. 5 stars for everything except that the noise levels were loud both times. But its still worth dining there. Don't bother. To say disappointing would be a kindness. If you miss X2O, don't go to Basso by PXK (previously Basso 56) seeking a replacement. This latest generation does not compare in location, ambiance, menu or service. The brunch was poorly run, terrible dining experience. Some of the food was ok, some was much too salty. It was a poorly coordinated menu that was very carb heavy. A few of the dishes, i.e., linguini alfredo, were challenging and messy for the pass waiters to serve, in other words poorly planned. Many of the dishes would have benefited from fresh cracked pepper though none was offered or available. Chef Peter Kelly, We had high hopes but this new brunch venture is a fail, we will not be back. read more
