Spaccarelli's is Millwood tradition has been updated and is now part of the Zuppa Restaurant family. It remains an excellent well decorated restaurant with great service and spot on service. A cozy place to have a relaxed meal. Quiet for conversation. Like its cousins that we have eaten at - and had family affairs at the Tromonto Hawthorne location - the marriage of the Millwood restaurant seems to be a great fit. You can always judge an Italian restaurant by its Calamari. In this case it is top 10. Fritti Rings and tentacles ($21) lightly tempura were crispy yet easy to bite and tender to the palate. The sauce was spicy and perfectly balanced. The complimentary bread and spread were fresh and delicious. The Italian beer including a Peroni 00 non alcoholic beer were ice cold poured in a nice glass. A little expensive at $8 and $9. The Salmone ($35) was sweet fresh and tender and the caperberries (unique flavor, but gave the dish texture ) olive tapenade was just the right compliment to the sweet salmon. The pollo Cif e Ciaf - their version of off the bone Scarpello was delicious- tender chicken, hot spicy pepper strips and fork sized sausage. It could have used more sauce for dipping $32. The Zuppa Bombolini (from the Yonkers location) served warm with Carmel sauce are 5 sweet zeppelins made light with ricotta cheese and cinnamon sugar. I must compliment the restaurant on its flatware and plates which are equisite. The coffee and expresso were bold and perfect as was our service from Rindi L. The tall delicate glass of lemon cello was a perfect ending. Highly recommended. read more

Mixed Review: Service was friendly and excellent. Very nicely redecorated. More modern, open and lighter.However the music is way too loud and the wrong era. Put on some soft opera or background music. It's a loud place, just like the old Spac's. Sound is still an issue and it's hard to hear your party. We will be back. Fried calamari were done to perfection, the accompanying marinara was lacking spice, a touch of salt, pepper and crushed red pepper would have been ideal. I had a special veal chop parmigiana, it was huge. Crispy and delicious and very tender. I was quite pleased. My wife had the veal sorrentina. It also was delicious and plentiful as well. We opted for a lemon coconut cake for dessert. It was really good and not overly sweet. The service is good, atmosphere is nice enough. Personally I think the prices are a tad on the high side but not outrageous. Drink prices are higher than expected. Despite that, we will be back. read more

Holiday Dinner with friends. Happy to be here after several years, and a little surprised not to see a crowded dining room. I guess COVID took its toll here too. After being seated and ordering some drinks we started with a couple of appetizers. The Hot Antipasto was a disappointment. Meager serving for the price. The Burrata with Prosciutto was better - fresh burrata with some prosciutto. Delicious. For the main we ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese, a Veal Parmigiana, the Black Linguini special and the Pork Chops special - two chops topped with thin slices of fried potatoes. Excellent all! Efficient service but not very attentive - we had to flag down a staffer to get a coffee refill. We will definitely return - hopefully others will too. read more

No surprises here - Standard "old school" Italian with hits and misses... The hit was the Pork Osso Buco with Pasta Special. Perfectly prepared and delicious. We found this special to be a true winner. The miss was the "Pollo Caprese" - Grilled chicken topped with cheese. A rather tasteless affair as this selection couldn't be finished. Shared starters included a mussels special and the "Zucchini Fritti" with the latter being the better of the two. Dining room is comfortable with tables being properly separated. It was an overcast day during the peak of holiday season. The Westchester climate air was laced with a slight nip. All of my holiday shopping has worked up quite the appetite. Who am I to deny an opportunity force-feed myself with simple carbs? On this particular Saturday afternoon, there was an event taking place in the main dining room. We were seated in another area separated by the bar. This place's landscape was decorated with a bunch of holiday shit, featuring christmas tree balls (ornaments). I'm actually not sure of this, I just wanted to be able to use that term. I selected a corner seat facing the whole place. I like to keep an eye on things. My dining partner and I both went with house reds to start (and subsequently continue for the duration of the meal). We were presented with a white board containing the day's specials. Good for people (like me) that don't listen well. Bad for people (like me) that don't want extra words to read. Although the gnocchi tickled my fancy upon initial perusal (I typed, persual initially which apparently is not a real word) of the menu, I was feeling particularly keen on consuming something green, call it "holiday spirit". I ordered spaghetti with pesto. My dining partner fervently ordered the fried zucchini flowers to start and subsequent something with spaghetti topped with pomodoro sauce (see what I did there with using italian words and shit?) First off, the fried zucchini flowers are actually fucking zucchini FLOWERS. Have you ever heard of that shit? Did you know it was edible? I'm not entirely convinced yet but so far so good with my digestive tract over 72 hours s/p consumption. Most importantly it was shockingly tasty. The pesto. It wasn't the creamy variant of pesto that I sometimes encounter, but was good nonetheless. It was really good actually, which is especially impressive considering the lack of cream to boost the flavor. I'd for sure order this shit again. OMG I totally forgot we ordered dessert. There was some confusion among staff regarding the profiteroles which were ultimately unavailable. I went with the classic tiramisu. Cream part was creamy, lady fingers were coffee-soaked, and there was the classic cocoa powder dusting on the roof. At one point in time, a ladyfinger chunk slipped from my fork prong's grip and found its way to the bottom of my coffee mug, subsequently enhancing the flavor of its contents. Service was good. My dining companion was convinced that she was a VIP due to frequent patronization. This may be true however my money is on delusions of grandeur as a manifestation of late-onset psychosis. A hard place to swallow and even harder to pronounce: Spaccarelli's Restaurant was our Easter dinner stop this year. We usually have a traditional large Italian style dinner at home, but this year we chose a middle ground for the family from NYC and those from upstate NY to give the ladies a rest-bit from cooking, ...so let's get right to it. We were a party of 9 in total and all 'professional' Italian eaters. For an appetizer, I had the mixed fish salade consisting of octopus, shrimp, and calamari (served cold). For the entree I chose the Pollo Francese (dipped in egg, sautéed in lemon & white wine) as a side I opted for the Gnocchi pomodoro basilico (homemade gnocchi with tomato & basil) and my beverage was the house chianti. For dessert, I chose the chocolate cake. First to arrive for execution was the fish salade, it was EXCELLENT and quite robust, which I was surprised to see. The calamari appeared to be relatively fresh, it wasn't rubbery and had no fishy taste. The octopus was just as succulent, having a delightful taste as well. To be honest, had the salade been slightly larger, it would have been enough to fill my gullet. The next victim was the Chicken Francese, (o come si dice in Italiano...Pollo Francese.) The cutlets were breaded to perfection and came bathed in a scrumptious sauce. The chicken was very tender, easily cuttable with the edge of my fork. They were large in size but thin in girth. If the dish wasn't so expensive I probably wouldn't have eaten both. But as my father used to say, "I paid for all of it, you're eating all of it son!" Next, we have the Gnocchi. Being the glutton that I am, I stuffed the Gnocchi down my throat, mostly one at a time... some times I did a two'er on the fork because I just couldn't stop myself. After shrugging off the look of disgust my wife was flashing at me as sparks began to fly from my cutlery, I leaned back to take a deep breath and drain the glass of house chianti which was quite savory. All was going according to plan, with only desert to worry about. That's when my wife brought to my attention that the waiter hadn't come by to see if we needed anything since delivering our meals. After polling the table, we were all in need of at least a refill but nobody had seen our waiter. That was when the 5-star review started taking a hit. I grabbed a passing busboy and asked him to fetch our waiter. He returned with another fella, but as long as he brought me coffee and dessert, I didn't care who he was. The service lacked, ...hit #1. Now we have hit #2. I get the mask thing... not really, but if those are the rules, those are the rules. But if a waiter has a low voice, plus an accent (A very heavy one at that) the last thing he should be doing is talking through a paper mask. He began to list the dessert menu, it went something like this, "Mmmmmm, mmmmmm and mmmmm with mmmmmm." After asking him to repeat himself three times, he finally pulled down his mask enough for everyone clearly to hear. The dessert menu was only about four or five choices long, real simple stuff. I had the chocolate cake and a cup of black coffee. My wife went for the carrot cake and coffee as well. When the cake came I became excited... (which shows just how simple my life has become since retirement)... I dove into it as if it were a slice of chocolate cake... which it was. The look on my face was clear enough to garnish a few laughs from the family. It was like putting a lump of dry dirt in my mouth, which I haven't done since playing football in HS. I tried a second and third fork full just to make sure it sucked... and it did. Then I watched my wife put a slice of her carrot cake into her mouth before quickly washing it down with the entire cup of coffee. To wrap it up let me point out a few of the other dishes. Two Bistecca alla Griglia (cut of N.Y. strip steak) were ordered, both medium well, and both showed up rare. All of the side dishes that corresponded to each dish weren't placed next to our orders but rather placed in the center of the table for everyone to share. I really wanted to give the place 5 stars, however, the service was substandard. A few of the dishes were improperly prepared and the cakes were inedible. The coffee was excellent and the three things I ate were also excellent. The final bill was in the ballpark of $600+. I'd probably go back, but only as a couple and only for the dishes I knew came prepared to perfection. read more

This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the area. They have a really nice selection of wines. They also have some really great drinks that they make. Above and beyond the drinks, the food is absolutely delicious here. I have had the osso bucco and they don't make it all the time. They do have some really nice Ville dishes and some great pasta dishes. This place is a little bit more white cloth so don't come dressed down too much. It is a nice family restaurant with a family like flair to it. My favorite dish here is the Branzino Al Forno. The shrimp Oreganata is very good as well. They have a lot of great daily specials here. I was looking forward to my visit to this restaurant because I am not very familiar with restaurants around northern Westchester. I usually like to read most of the reviews to get an idea of what to expect, but I have an open mind and when I want to go to a place I will go anyway. After my recent visit, I can see why some people really like it and others were disappointed. I like the food and the cocktails but the service wasn't what I expected for an upscale Italian restaurant. We had a group of 16 people and we were rushed during our stay. They took our drink order but after the fist round they didn't ask if we wanted a second and that includes water refills at the tables. I understand that it can be overwhelming when you have a big group but it didn't look like they were making an effort. Overall I had a good time but I won't go out of my way to visit this restaurant again. read more

The restaurant itself is very nice and there is adequate parking in front. The servers I encountered were attentive and kind. The owner can be a bit snooty; when I encountered him as a non-patron (I used to work at the pizzeria in the complex he owns) he wasn't half as nice as when I was buying an expensive meal from him! I've been here a few times and had tried many things on the menu. The food here is very good and it really depends on what you get. I don't like the veal personally, but my other family members rave over it. The pasta fagioli was one of the best I've had anywhere. All of the appetizers and pastas are great that I've had. I like how they use seasonal specials to change up the menu. The biggest downside to this place is it's super expensive. I don't think the price matches what you get. Ravioli, pasta fagioli, and zuppa de pesce came out to be nearly $90, this was a takeout order too. I understand as a restaurant you need to charge about 3X what the materials cost for the dish to make money, but this just seems like price gouging. I've had lower class Italian restaurants that are just as good for far less. If you want really good food and money isn't a big factor then check this place out. Terrific food and friendly personalized service from the owner and the entire staff. We started with the eggplant rollatini and the flavor with the ricotta was perfect. The fresh marinara sauce and mozzarella with the veal were out of this world delicious. My girlfriend had the Red Snapper and I did a taste test and the tender fish melted in my mouth. Having a white-tablecloth doesn't mean much if the food is bland, the service spotty and the prices at a premium. My wife and I met my brother and his wife for dinner after I made 6:30pm reservations. We got seated by the kitchen (a lot of noise) and there were two kids birthday parties underway. Young, un behaved kids don't belong at a "Classic old-world white-tablecloth Italian restaurant with traditional cuisine", playing between the tables while the waitstaff tries to work - not the restaurants fault. No, it was the parents fault for not making the kids behave. Anyway, we all ordered the specials for the night. I ordered the MahiMahi which was bland and dressed with a few stewed tomatoes and no flavor. My brother had stuffed Calamari over spaghetti. There was a lot of water in the bottom of his dish. He finally was able to get the waiter to get more sauce. The waiter came by with a gravy boat and scooped sauce onto the spaghetti and then poured the remainder of it onto it, said, "Bon appetite," and ignored us until we corned him for the check. BTW, both our wives were disappointed with their meals. Classic old-world white-tablecloth Italian restaurant with traditional cuisine or not, save your classic green-backs and avoid this restaurant. First time going since the loss of Tony and the meal was still amazing. Our waiters were wonderful too. Everything was so good. I was so sad to here of the passing of Tony. I have been a customer for over 30 years and have had many meals here. I now live out of state but when I can I make sure to go here for a special dinner. I was so happy to be able to bring my friend who has never been here. She was amazed at how good the food was compared to restaurants where we live. We both had the veal parm and shrimp cocktails. Been coming here for years, and haven't been disappointed once. Tomaso is a model host and consummate professional. The atmosphere is serene, and the acoustics are such that the dining experience is peaceful even with a packed house. I do have a regular order, though I always wait to go with it until I've been shown the whiteboard; they frequently surprise me with their specials. In the absence of such a surprise, I start with the shrimp arrabbiata, and move on to the spaghetti carbonara. Never goes wrong. Their reds by the glass are like velvet; I tend toward the Montepulciano or Malbec. Make sure you arrive hungry, because even after all that you won't want to miss their dessert cart. Tonight I tried the chocolate cream pie for the first time; it won't be the last. Went perfectly with coffee; these folks really know how to make espresso and cappuccino right. Excellent high end Italian restaurant. The owner Tony has been doing this for as long as I remember. The meals are traditional Italian courses, and I have never had a bad meal. I come here for special events because the price can be on the higher side, but always well worth it. I have also done a holiday dinner here, and the menu was great. As a person of the non-typical demographic in sexuality, ethnicity and age, I was treated extremely unwelcome in this restaurant. I made reservations and was place in a seat next to the cash register and a very busy hall, while there were 6 open tables in the main room. The service was uninviting and I had to ask the server to place my drink and service orders. But this yelp and we aren't here to criticize their service or lack of there. Let's start off with the appetizer, we ordered the Antipasto Spaccarelli's. We asked the server if one serving was enough for 2 people. He told us no we should get 2 orders. Well, he lied and it was enough for 4. The dish it self was good, not spectacular. The mozzarella was great, it had a very nice salt balance and texture. The cure meats were your average cheap cuts that you can find in any grocery store. The cut was too thick so it was not very pleasant to chew. The grilled zucchini looked marvelous with its grilled marks. Unfortunately they pre prep the zucchini so it was cold and soggy when you took a bite. The sautéed mushroom and green beans were uneventful and just average. The idea behind the charcuterie is actually a very unique and interesting concept, but the execution was poorly done. Next the drinks, I had a classic martini and a glass of Chianti. The martini was very watered downed so it was comparable to drinking ice cold water. The Chianti, the Chianti, the Chianti.... let's just say Costco's cheapest Chianti tasted 10x better. I took a sip and gave the glass away. My fault for ordering it by the glass, so I won't count that against them. As for the main course I ordered the Veal al Funghi Porcini. The texture of the meat was undesirable and inconsistent. I had 4 cutlets, 2 had the texture you expected and 2 had a very chewy ligament kind of crunch. Most important for any Italian main course is the sauce. Flavor wise it had what you expected from a porcini dish. Porcini has a naturally effortless flavor to mess up. The viscosity of the sauce was on point and felt right when it touched your tongue. When you eat this dish, you are thinking "wow" this dish is not to shabby for what Iv experienced so far. Incorrect, your dining experience does not just end after you leave the table. What I'm referring to is the salt level of the dish. The dish had an abundant amount of salt almost to the point where it might of had too much MSG. Ever had everlasting thirst after you've been drinking water? Dry tongue? Heavy feeling in your chest? Feeling unease? I'm not saying MSG or salt is bad, but too much ruins your night. In summary, the flavor was good but will give give you a salt hangover the following day. My favorite part of the night was the dessert! Italian's hands down have this category mastered. Can't really review this though. Server asked if I wanted dessert, I obviously said yes. Waited 30 minutes. I turn over to see a table that just finished and the cart of dessert pulled right to them. As I said in the beginning, this review is not about the service but the how I experienced their take on Italian food. On the other note, I truly believe the service I experienced was due to me not being the normal demographic of this establishment. I was treated very hostile by the employees, unwanted and a nuisance to them. It is important to all companies and restaurants to take pride on their food and not to judge people based on their sexuality, ethnicity, race or income. We come to your restaurant to enjoy quality food, not to be judged. But like I always say, people have the right to their own opinions. A very nice restaurant located next to the Millwood Town Plaza. I'd eaten here several times and always enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very warm, the wait staff is friendly, and the food is good. It's very much an Italian restaurant - the last time I ate here, several members of the wait staff were actually from Italy, although that could have changed - and the food served is in the Northern Italian style, I believe. Since I am quite picky about the quality of my Italian food, I am always on the lookout for those "imposter" sort of dishes that are masquerading as authentic but in reality are nothing more than some poorly-prepared sauce. I have to say that Spaccarelli's passed the test. The food was of good quality, everything was fresh, the portions was generous and very tasty. The bottom line: nothing tasted like it was cooked with Ragu. For an appealing starter dish, I recommend the Pasta e Fagioli soup, which is hearty and especially good on a cold winter's evening. Entrees can range from moderate to pricey and this restaurant can get crowded, particularly on Saturday evenings. But the wait is always worth it. read more
