I purchased a Duracel AGM Platnum Plus marine battery two years ago with a 48mo full replacement warranty. After two years the battery went dead and would not hold a charge. I expected to get a replacement battery and was told they would not honor the warranty because the volts were below 10 and there must be neglect on the owners part. I have brought the battery inside when not in use and kept it charged. When a company offers a warranty you expect them to stand behind the product and push it off on the customer. I have lost all faith in this company that I have done business with for over 8 years and will never buy another product from them. read more

I will admit that when this place first opened I thought a store dedicated to batteries and bulbs was a little odd, but I don't think so anymore. I've been a loyal customer for some time, whenever I need batteries for household items or my car. Not to mention the odd bulb or flashlight. Where they really won me over, though, was iPhone screen repair. They repaired one screen for me a few years ago and last year, after my iPhone was run over by a car and literally crushed, I went to them hoping for a miracle. Not only did they replace the screen and camera, but when the phone was semi-functional afterward, they helped me figure out what to do and were able to resurrect it completely by replacing the other camera as well. Throw in a new battery and a screen protector and the phone was pretty much good as new. They earned the 5 star rating for sure. read more

I WILL NEVER USE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN. I've had great service and help for the last two purchases- but after tonight - I'm DONE. I am absolutely STUNNED by how RUDE the employee was who answered the phone- his tone, words and affect were so abrasive, belittling AND condescending- I'm literally shocked that someone could be as rude as he is....and for NO reason other than he felt like it. OCTOBER 27th 2017 6:21pm I called and asked if they sold any "light covers" explaining my left rear light had been broken, not the bulb but the cover..." His immediate response: (annoyed) "What? (It's clear he's now intentionally disrespectful, condescending, rude and totally arrogant) "I'm just trying to figu e ...the line goes dead. I am sitting here in disbelief- how asking such a simple question- nicely- deserved such blatantly rude treatment? I've figured it out! He is a LOSER! His stellar customer service skills give insight as to who he really is: He takes pride in his education, his framed 8th grade graduation certificate hanging above his mattress on the floor, in the basement of his parents house.....he's got the emotional and mental maturity of items found in his "toilet" (a bucket in the corner lined with a hefty bag) ...after a long night of drinking beer and overindulging on extra spicy foods......single, his meager earnings spent on "dates" found on the streets in the Canal, fav hobby smashing empty beer cans on his head ....(pea brain found inside) ARRGGHHH! What a JERK! Okay. Done. So I called the El Cerrito store, explained what happened and wanted to know if they knew the managers/owners name. This gentleman was VERY polite, helpful and took the time to answer my questions...but as each B&B is franchised, he doesn't know the owners, but was nice enough to apologize for the rude guy- on behalf of B&B. My batteries went dead on my diesel truck. So I drove down to batteries + to purchase new batteries. My truck is a 2009 GMC heavy duty diesel. Batteries are tough to get to but Dave and Chris on his day off we're out in the parking lot to help me get the old ones out and the new ones in. My battery needed replacing today so I contacted Batteries Plus, they told me they had a battery for my 7 series BMW in stock and fully charged. They wee extremely helpful, not only very pleasant and courteous, but only charged $10 for the battery installation fee. Compare this to the local BWM dealership..double the battery cost and 8 times the cost of installation! I am very relieved I was able to get a new battery today in no time at all. read more

ORIGINAL REVIEW: I promise you would rather have shards of glass falling out of your iPhone screen than get it replaced here. I scheduled an appointment and dropped my phone off to get the screen replaced. The replacement screen was total crap - greenish tint, didn't 3D Touch, didn't auto adjust brightness, couldn't even scroll properly, the screen would randomly distort. I took it back the next day and they told me to come in the following day because there was no tech there. I show up the following day and not only is there no technician again, but the guy who is there tells me it's my fault for not making an appointment, and that the problems were probably with my (almost new) iPhone and not the screen, and "it still worked so it's not like I was going to die". Despite the terrible treatment, I made an appointment and come back the next day to drop it off, and the tech guy tells me they couldn't check if the first replacement screen worked because I hadn't given them my passcode (I don't have a passcode on my phone, which I told them when I dropped it off...further, the technician had taken a picture of his face and left it on my phone which I assume was from when he tested it). They call me 2 hours later saying it will take longer because they're still having problems. I finally pick it up (now my SIXTH TIME driving to this god forsaken store) and the rude guy is there and proceeds to wax on about how he'll "never buy an iPhone 8 because they're so finicky" and he didn't really think it was the replacement screen having issues. The new replacement screen is now mostly functional but still clearly not as quality as apple screens - not nearly as bright, still doesn't auto adjust lighting, and the 3D Touch is very finicky, but I can't bring myself to drive back there. After all that, they still had the gall to charge me full price. Unbelievable. Six trips, 2 hours of driving, $150, and all I got was patronized by a mean employee and a bad screen. read more

The man who helped me opened the package to make sure the battery would fit in the charger (and the first charger wasn't compatible so that was a real bonus). The charger has multiple outlets for various battery sizes so he marked the correct slot for my camera's battery with a Sharpie...They also have a great selection (no one else in town had anything in stock that would work). DON'T GO HERE! Worst customer service in Marin! They do not stand by their work and will not fix their mistakes. My son took his iPhone in for a screen replacement but after a few weeks the screen came loose. It was due to missing screws inside causing the screen to come loose from the body. Despite them being the last to open up and work on the phone they refused to work on it and fix it and instead alleging that my son had opened up and removed the screws since "they would not let the phone leave their place missing the screws." Which is not true. I swore to never return to this place and also write my first Yelp review. There is a reason for the PLUS, and it isn't lightbulbs. These guys are GREAT. I thought I was going in for a simple battery replacement for the key fob for my Subaru. New battery duly installed, and Chuck Cole noticed some loose bits, did one small thing to make things tighter. I went out, tested on my car, it worked but was weak. Chuck then stripped the fob down as if it was an engine down to the chassis, did this and that to it, put back together, and now it works as it did when it was new. I would have paid extra (these fobs cost a fortune) but nope--all this for the price of the battery. This is service above and beyond anything I would expect anywhere these days. If I'd just bought a battery and replaced it myself, or gone into my local hardware store, I'd have a wonky, -working fob, meaning daily annoyance. Plus, Chuck is quietly, competently, perfectly, just a really nice guy, as has been true each time I've had reason to drive up to this Batteries Plus store. Special ordered 6, 8 volt, golf cart batteries from them. Took a week but no problem, sort of what I figured. Very knowledgeable and helped me load the new and unload the old cores. They have almost every battery made or can get it. Pricing is fair but not super cheap, they say the quality of most the batteries they carry is better than others. Too soon to speak to that as the batteries are brand new and of course work fine but will see in a few years if they are of good quality (golf cart batteries usually last 5 years if welled cared for). Location is a little tough, don't miss it if you are coming from 101 or you will have to do a big loop on 4th street. read more

Very helpful folks. I managed to kill two new laptop batteries by discharging them too far. The nice guy hooked them up to their diagnosis/repair machine. It took about 1/2 an hour, but they are both working again. Total cost (to restore almost $200 worth of batteries)? $10. $5 each! While I was there I browsed the store, and they have every kind of battery and light bulb you can imagine, from keychain lights to high pressure sodium bulbs about a foot long. Lots of fun flashlights. They also have chargers, testers, and batteries for cordless tools, cars, motorcycles, etc. etc. While I was there, a guy came in looking for a replacement battery for a cordless phone. They were out of the NiCd, so they sold him the (better) NiMH for the price of the cheaper one. I'll be back for all my batteries and bulbs. Easy parking, and no lines, too. read more

About a year ago, I had occasion to get the factory-installed rechargeable battery replaced in an electric razor after it had given out. I was a bit skeptical about going to a chain store and even more skeptical about their claim that the new battery would be better than the original. As it turned out, the service was attentive, prompt, and personal. Better still, the new battery was indeed much better than the original. Today, I had the failed battery in my water-proof wrist watch replaced. It took at least 15 minutes of careful effort to open the watch and make the replacement, including replacing the o-ring which seals the watch from water. The salesperson had a pile of o-rings for replacement, but was not sure that the one he used was precisely the one designed for that particular watch. So he took my contact information and said he would do a web search to get the precise o-ring for that brand and model watch. After all the work and personal attention, I was only charged for the off-the-shelf cost of the $11 battery. Needless-to-say, this store is a place that gets my very highest recommendation. read more

I purchased a new battery that was much less expensive than everywhere else I shopped, and she took her time to install it correctly (the last guy to do this, 5 years ago at Costco, didn't). I'm getting superior cranking power than before; the car starts on the first turn of the keys, that hasn't been true for years. Ended up buying a battery tender for my motorcycle and a couple other little things too, there are lots of goodies there that you actually want but don't really think about. I end up at this store more often than you'd think. They are an honorable company as far as I can tell but my experiences have been uneven. With a phone screen replacement, it cracked with a few weeks due to an error they made in repair; they fixed it without cost, but the accompanying batter replacement didn't help much. The customer service is generally good but often off putting somehow. They definitely won't go out of their way for you or at least not for me. For years now, I've brought them all manner of odd devices on the blink--'80s synthesizers, iPods, novelty lamps galore--and they've revived them with a Midas touch. Chris looked up the schematics of my '50s radio and was able to make it work again. More recently, I brought in a speech synthesizer [think Stephen Hawking] made in 1983 and since the battery could not be found in even the most obscure, cobwebbed corners of eBay or even on speech synthesizer collector forums, Jeff had a custom battery pack made and ready within a few days. Wow! Getting watch batteries put in is a cinch, while u wait. They'll recycle all your old batteries. I got my car battery here. You can even get lava lamp replacement bulbs here! And I find the employees to be friendly and patient (no need to go to that OTHER nearby electronics place which is super-expensive and the owners don't feel the need to make a friendly connection with people who are choosing to spend hard-earned money at their brick 'n' mortar establishment). read more

Excellent customer service is something very hard to come by these days. Fifty years ago, when I was a much younger man, I recall that customer service was overall quite good. However, in today's world the customer service experience is very often far less satisfying. I'm sure you are familiar with companies that claim they'll do "whatever it takes to make you a satisfied customer", and then find that their promises are most often just a hype. It's very easy to "talk the talk', but "walking the walk" is something quite different. Batteries+ is one of the few exceptions I have encountered. In the interest of discolsure, I have no vested interest in Batteries+Bulbs and am receiving no consideration for this review. I also can't claim that all Batteries+Bulbs stores have the same top notch customer service as Store 141 in Round Rock, Texas, but I have heard that they all strive to provide the best service possible. In my case, store employees Walter and Alden, as well as the other members of the staff, were outstanding. I needed a battery for my whole house generator, a fairly unusual request, and wanted one that would give me as many years of trouble free service as possible. Their top recommendation was the X2 Power, TPPL (Thin Plate Pure Lead, AGM (Absorbed Glass Matt) battery. This is a store branded 12 volt battery manufactured by Northstar, one of the world's premier battery manufacturers. They could have easily left it at that, letting me make my own mostly uninformed decision, but instead they took the time to educate me as to why, in many applications in addition to automobiles, Northstar's TPPL technology is considered by many experts to be the most advanced and reliable in the industry. I was also surprised to learn that Batteries+Bulbs is so confident in the battery's performance and reliability that they provide a full "5 year replacement" warranty; one year longer than the Northstar labeled battery, even though, aside from the X2 Power label, they are identical. I spent a great deal of time asking Walter and Alden questions, as well as doing my own research, returning to the store multiple times to get a few things clarified. I'm quite sure they must have wondered if I was really interested in buying a battery or was just there to pick their brains. However, if that was the case, they never gave any indication of it. Each time I came in they were very friendly and ready to assist me. I had to commend Matt Gann, the store manager, for having hired such superior employees. Oh, in case you're wondering, I ultimately did buy the X2 Power battery and feel very confident that despite it's not inexpensive price, it was the best possible choice I could have made. A few months ago, I purchased a car battery there; and Jeff, one of the employees, installed it in no time, and even re-set the anti-theft car radio/clock. We came in to replace the backup batteries for our electric gate. Chris quickly tested them, and said they had insufficient power to operate the gate.
